I got a new nav and sat to have installed in my car. They quoted me $250 which was in line with everyone else in the area. After waiting around for an hour and a half they said it needed a new $375 amp and it would cost almost $1900 to install everything. Absolute rip off artists. Not sure who is posting the low reviews, but that WAS NOT my experience. Kelsey was great in listening to what I wanted in the way of a system to replace the original radio in my 2007 Mustang. She was very pleasant to work with and patient as we looked at several options before selecting one. It had some added features I had not anticipated. It was installed within the budget I told her I was willing to pay. The back shop was great at showing me where a prior radio wiring and installation had been done. They even patched a few holes that would have eventually allowed water in the spare tire well. The installation was clean and quick - good kudos to the back shop. Unfortunately, I had to return once to correct a system setting for a manual versus automatic transmission, thus the four stars. read more

So I figured it was my fault so I called in the morning first to confirm if I still have that appointment. The guy asked clearly for window tinting, he didn't even confirm the name of an appointment and said yes your appointment confirm. Maybe you should confirm the name of appointment first. Not only did she answer all of our questions her customer service was above excellent as she also instructed us on the stereos useage and operation. I highly recommend this place for auto stereo installation. The prices were excellent, staff knowledgeable, curteous and helpful. No up-selling or BS just a great deal and quick service. They didn't even have the correct alarm. I contacted Highway HIFI purchased an alarm with all options BB offered To $300.00 cheaper ..Installed it in 90 minutes WITHOUT DAMAGING my vehicle...Very knowable and friendly staff...I WILL BE BACK FOR MORE ITEMS!!! read more

More like Hi-Way Robbery, Buyer Beware! Was given a basic DD Pioneer as a gift to be able to talk hands free in my Jeep Wrangler. As an engineer and lifelong mechanic I typically am able to handle automotive chores but am smart enough to seek professional help if I run into an obstacles. Upon arrival I was informed I required a special (expensive) adapter harness but don't have issue with that because its required and couldn't really find the right one anywhere else. What I do take exception to is the technical arrogance and deceit in which I experienced. After waiting almost 2 1/2 hours I was charged $105 labor to have it installed incompletely. Once home and able to safely become acquainted with all the features I discovered the very feature (phone blue tooth) didn't work. Prior to calling back I contacted Pioneer tech support to make sure it wasn't me or the unit since I didn't buy it at HWHF. Pioneer informed me that on my particular vehicle a by-pass of the rear to front channels was required to get it to work. With that information I then contacted Glenn to see if they could do that in which he replied yes, bring it in so we can look at it. I asked point blank if it would be any additional charge at which point he responded "not a penny". I brought it back in and spoke with Robert about what Pioneer told me at which point he responded that "Pioneer are morons". He took an hour to confirm it wasn't the unit but indeed a by-pass was required per Pioneer's advice. I had to schedule yet a third visit to get that done. Upon arriving for the third visit I re-introduced myself to Glen and wanted to confirm our conversation and he cut me off with "Yea, whatever...". I spent over 2 1/2 hours and was billed $89.98 for labor. When I informed Robert of my conversation with Glenn (who was standing 5 ft. away) he got defensive and wanted to blame the unit. Glenn didn't bother to intervene in any way and keep his word. At that point it was clear what I was up against. The incompatibility issues with my particular circumstances should have been disclosed and accommodated on the first visit without any additional follow ups and charges. I'll take credit for the bad decision to go to HWHF. I was actually considering buying a stereo from them and having them install in another vehicle as well as tinting windows, not a chance in hell now! I'll let everyone I know personally and professionally to steer clear of HWHF. read more

On 03/24/2018 we had one of the worst experiences at highway hifi. The whole process was terrible and damaging to our vehicle. We do NOT recommend highway hifi to anyone who values their vehicle. First thing after initial install of radio and backup camera here are my findings. Newly installed mic did not work, it was plugged into the wrong plug on the back of the radio. Radio was not centered in dash leaving a gap. Drivers door seal was not properly replaced after it had been removed, causing wind and water to come in. Missing dash panel fastener, specific colored fastener, was missing leaving a rattle and hole. Backup camera stopped working when I opened the back door. Back up camera was loose. Behind license plate Highway hifi drilled a 3/8 in hole thru my door, without permission, and never used a grommet, and The owner Glenn informed me that was their common practice to drill holes without permission. I could see the problem with the camera, the wires were damaged in 2 places from their installation. The back door panels were not fully re-assembled and rattled. Their techs started to cut the factory metal dash bracket, without permission, till I stopped them. I took it upon my self to fix as many of the problems that I could but had to go back to highway hifi to get the remaining items fixed, such as backup camera and radio centered. So after 2nd visit we ended up with more problems. They left the wiring for the mic and backup camera unsecured and hanging down on the brake and gas pedals. They left the large wiring harness grommet off at the top of the back door, causing water to come inside of the door. Behind the radio I found a 12v soldered wire not taped off or covered. I ended up fixing everything but the hole in the door, the cut metal dash bracket, and the missing fastener for the dash. The last thing I found was the glass front on the Kenwood receiver was loose, and I called Glenn at Highway hifi and he wanted me to bring it in. There was no way... I was letting them touch my vehicle again. I told him I would do the work and bring him the radio and could just hand me another one. He got angry, told me no way that was going to happen, this loose screen was fine, and hung up on me. Glenn is very unprofessional and will not back up his poor service. He actually will blame the customer for the problems highway hifi caused. I actually pointed out to Glenn the problem of the mic being plugged into the wrong hole and he practically called me a liar and I had to show him on his display radio. So, we do NOT recommend to anyone, to use this business. If we could give a negative rating we would but 1 star was the lowest option. Everyone beware of Highway Hifi... If you have had work performed by them you might want someone to check it out to make sure electrical wiring is properly secured and covered. read more

I went to Highway Hi Fi to get a navigation system installed in my car, The owner does a video with several options, include a rear view mirror navigation screen. When I arrived, the attitude of the employee I spoke with was very poor. He acted like I was bothering him because I wanted to give them my business. He took a five second look at the inside of my car, came back in, typed something on his computer, and then said "this is what you need". It was expensive, but I said "OK, order it and install it". He said "no, you have to order it". When I asked him why, he said "because we do not have a deal with that company". I then asked him about the mirror option, and he said "we don't do that". When I showed him the video of the owner advertising the mirror option, he started back peddling and said "ummm....ummm....you don't want that". It was clear that the employee did not want my business, and I am so sorry that I bothered him. I will not make that mistake again. read more

This is by far the best place in Melbourne to get your tint done! I went in with my Yukon XL and it was way less than the other shops, while I was waiting for it to get done I had a question about the radios and installation and all that jazz and they didn't hesitate to answer any and all questions I had even though I told them I can't afford it right now they told me how much it would be and gave me information on the financing option and what the best option for me was, they treated me like I was purchasing the product and gave me the same respect! They care more about customers than commission! Will definitely coming back here and recommend it to you all as well! read more

I wouldn't recommend Highway Hi Fi to anyone I know. The employees were very curt with me and made me feel like they couldn't care less if they got my business or not. The window tint they installed has peeled around the edges. The stereo head unit they installed only receives two stations. They wanted to charge me extra just to take the head unit out to diagnose the problem even though it was a brand new head unit and I hadn't experienced any issues receiving radio stations with my previous head unit. Overall, I give them two stars. Their prices are reasonable and the staff are knowledgeable but their customer service is absolutely atrocious and for that reason alone I will never return. read more
