Those folks were, and I assume, still are the cream of the crop for care giving. However, this review is about the Independent Living communications! On Saturday August 15, 2020 my air conditioner failed at 8:00 p.m. I called the Concierge. I was expecting it would be Sunday before anyone came to look and/or repair the A/C this this was a weekend and not a normal workday. Within 15 minutes the Concierge had contacted the Director of Environmental Services and informed me the Contractor for A/C would be arriving within the hour. By 9:00 p.m. the Contractor was at my door. At 10:00 p.m or two hours after the first phone call to the Concierge, the A/C was working. On Monday morning I was able to personally thank the Director of Environment Services and passed a well done to the Concierge. This is normal for Environmental Services! Advance the clock until today, August 18 at 3:15 p.m. the A/C failed again. I walked to the Concierge to report the outage and explained what had happened on Saturday night. I did mention the Concierge Saturday night did call the Director of Environment Services. This being a normal work day and during normal work day I did ask him to put in a work order which is normal procedure. At 6:45 p.m. once my unit hit 80 degrees, I walked to the same Concierge and asked what the Director of Environmental Service said. I was told he, the Concierge had not called him since the Director reads all work order prior to leaving. I asked the Concierge if he planned to call the Director. No, he will read the work order. It is now 7:50 p.m. and 81 degrees. It would appear the Concierge was not able to follow up on my request. Very disappointed. This is not normal customer service from the Hillcrest Grand Lodge Independent Living; however is becoming a pattern for this Concierge. I do still think the Grand Lodge is a wonderful place; however, it might be helpful if key meet and greet persons are trained to a "standardization" level.

The interactions I had left me with little confidence in the professionalism or compassion of the staff. One staff member who I believe said he was the director of something, he came across as completely uninterested and indifferent. I felt like my concerns didn't matter and that I was just another number instead of a family trying to make an important decision for a loved one. I also observed another staff member who was passing out meal trays. She appeared unprofessional and gave the impression that helping residents or interacting respectfully with others wasn't a priority. The overall atmosphere felt cold, unwelcoming, and lacking the compassion I would expect from a place caring for vulnerable people. Choosing a nursing home is one of the most important decisions a family can make. I was looking for kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern for residents and their families. Unfortunately, my experience didn't reflect those qualities, so I chose to continue my search elsewhere.

Mandy's expertise in both areas (neurological disorders and orthopedic rehabilitation) inspired total confidence in me and is largely responsible for me successfully walking today. I used to love this Urgent Care, which says a lot based on how often and for what reasons I found…read moremyself there. But, since rebranding as CHI, it's decreased in a couple areas. First, you must beware when you are being given items to take home for care, such as braces and splints. They now partner with See the Trainer in Bellevue. You sign the authorization with no clue as to the price, and the nurses do not know either. Then, 6 weeks later, you receive a bill for an outrageous amount. In my case, it was a $79 bill for a brace that cost $26.57 on Amazon. On top of that, I was seen (same visit, mind you) for a ankle injury. I was told that when the nurse practitioner looked at the x-rays, it was severely sprained and that I should feel better in "a couple weeks." A few days later, I found it odd that I had not received a follow-up call (as usual, when the specialist reviews the x-rays). I called and requested that it be looked at. Turns out, I had fractured my ankle and the bone was chipped on the side, with a recovery time of 6-8 weeks. Had I never called back, I may never have known this. If you are paying the price for an urgent care, the service needs to be better. And over the last year or two, it has declined. Sure the building is new and looks awesome, but when I am in an urgent care, I am more concerned with the quality of treatment than the awesomeness of the waiting area. I will be going to UNMC from now on.

I have been treated for 2 knee replacement and now they are helping me live with the arthritis in my back. The exercises they have me working on help relieve my pain and make it easier for me to do many of the things I had feared would not ever happen again.
