The "slow" platforms are typically the only ones used - the "fast" train continues onwards at very high speed. Ticket offices are open between 06:30 and 20:30 plus there is an Oyster card reader. Very limited parking is available. Services and refreshments are limited - two very small shops selling snacks, candies and sodas, plus newspapers. There is also a vending machine. Bus stops are on the North side of the tracks that go to Uxbridge and other places. These are the London bus routes 222, 350, U1, U3 and U5.

I could quite well be because they were built around the same time, and are also termini. Mind you, Uxbridge actually is much, much more lively than Cockfosters, but I suspect that is because Cockfosters is actually a suburb as opposed to Uxbridge, which feels much more like a village.

Gerrards Cross Station is an efficient station on the corridor between London and the suburbs that accommodate many expats and their families. I was able to purchase an all day train pass here and the staff here were extremely helpful. Even pointing out that if I were interested in waiting another 45 minutes that the passes would come down in price. The trains that whiz through are high speed and extremely clean. Seats are padded for comfort and the locals know enough about common decency, something lacking here in the US (NY metro lines were well kept too, however) since I sometimes loathe riding BART. Bart and Muni trains are outdated, old, and host patrons that apparently feel that littering, loitering, and using public floors as urination targets. And on top of all this, the locals respect each other in regards to the close proximity of the seated and standing so no one was playing loud music or just the overall loud din that I encounter on a daily basis. A good example is to ride the Richmond line in the evening and then go ride the trains in Europe. Your perception of public transportation will never be the same again.

One of the platforms has a well heated waiting room. Both platforms have ample seating along the platform. Coming out of the station you have your usuals, but what is unique is they have a side room for bycycles to be parked in at your own peril. They have a newsagent and a flower shop which is attached to the station. Yes! their are areas that could do with a little update but it really isn't that bad. Grubby...I don't think so! This station is in a rich area, if it was that bad someone would of complained about it by now.

The other thing is that it turns out that it doesn't really take all that long to get into the centre of the city. Yeah, it's not bad actually.

Booked an arrival and return pick-up, for a total of 98 British Pounds. Not bad at all for a two way ride! ( A Black Cab will cost over 100 Pounds one-way from the airport) My driver called my cell phone at pre-arranged time, upon landing at Heathrow. He greeted us at the arrival exit, with a placard with my full name on it. The driver was very courteous and helpful with our luggage to the car. Bottles of waters are available in the car. On our return trip to the airport, the assigned driver arrived at the hotel early for pick-up and gave me a call. No stress and no-frills impeccable service! Highly recommended for travelers arriving in London with spouse/family and a lot of luggage! I cant imagine people travelling any other way!

This is the only way to get into London. A Taxi all the way into town is crazy expensive. Taking…read morethe Tube is nuts when you have luggage. Taking the train into town and getting a Taxi from Paddington works well for me -- even working over near the square mile. The trains are clean. The run on a good schedule. Even though you won't be on it for that long, the power jacks are handy to have. The Internet works well. The seats are comfortable. I can't think of any real flaws. They even have excellent striping and signage to get you where you want to be at the Airport and Paddington.

I took the Heathrow Express from Heathrow Airport to Paddington Station and I didn't have any…read moreissues. The train feels safe, new, and clean. I didn't really have anyone in my car, so nobody really bothered me. I wish most trains were like this in the U.S. It is quite expensive though (about 20 pounds or so, or about $35 USD) to get into the heart of London. I guess that's just how it is here.

You gotta use brute force. Unfortunately if youre headed to the west fro Heathrow, you need to take the Connect out to this station then transfer to the FGW rail line. Youd probably not want to hang out here late at night as it seems dodgy.

If I could avoid coming to Hayes and Harlington station, I would. I used to commute out of here on…read morea daily basis, but thankfully I moved out of the area so I don't have to anymore - but I still come through here on occasion when I'm visiting family. To put it into context, although they may look like that the station is being refurbished, trust me. It isn't. I know this because the same temporary hand rails are on the stairs and the same broken windows replaced with wood have been there since I was a child - yes, that's right, they couldn't be bothered to fix a window in 30 odd years. That should say it all really. In fact, the only change I can notice is that they put a fence in on platform 3/4, presumably due to some health and safety issue because the trains go past platform 4 at such a speed - when in reality all it does is make it really cramped when you get off on platform 3. Honestly, they need to bulldoze the entire ticket office, stairwells etc and start again. Horrible station that no-one in Network Rail gives a damn about. At least there is light at the end of the tunnel, because I can't imagine when this becomes a London Underground station that TFL will stand for it being so ramshackle. So roll on the Elizabeth line, because hopefully then for the first time in more than a quarter of a century will Hayes and Harlington have a station which doesn't look like something from a nuclear holocaust.
