Working in the activities department and with management, they have helped me grow and learn. This experience working with Applewood has been nothing but educational and wonderful. Working with the residents I have heard great things and I know that the staff is focused on the satisfaction of the residents and that takes priority over everything else. Everyone here works hard to make sure their residents are treated with the utmost respect and make sure that they are comfortable. Being here is like being a part of a family, and even in my short time here I feel as though I am part of the community and family they have built here. I can't say enough good things about this place, how effectively it is managed by Adrienne West and her team, how beautifully decorated . . . and how I'm treated like family although I'm the "daughter". The care team was excellent and supported my mom well past the time other places might have suggested she go into a nursing home with her Alzheimers. And to add to that - I live in California and they were constantly in touch with me to keep me in touch with anything and everything going on with my mom, far beyond their responsibility as a retirement home - because its NOT a nursing home. I hope when the time comes for me - I find a place as spectacular as this, where as nice as it is . .. . the friendliness and genuine caring of the staff surpasses everything else.

I represent a group of retired professionals who get together once a month for breakfast and to…read moreshare common interests. Each month we are provided a delicious buffet breakfast at Royal Gardens for an affordable rate. We routinely have anywhere from 20 to 30 in attendance. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, and are very much appreciated by our members. Our December meeting is a "Christmas Brunch" to which we bring our spouses or friends. This year we had 51 members in attendance. We were treated to a "donut bar" to start our social hour, then items such as assorted pastries, Eggs Benedict, frittatas, bacon, sausages, 2 types of potatoes and of course coffee, tea and juices, and more. A big "Thank You" goes out to the Executive Director, Renee; the Director of Food Services, Dan; Resident Services, Anna; Activity Director, Tammy; and the entire kitchen staff who prepared this delicious meal and provided such friendly service. Definitely a 5-Star event for us!

Forestview in Lindsay has been the home of our dad for the last five years. It is a hidden gem in…read moreLindsay. Healthy, home cooked meals are served three times a day in a bright, friendly, warm setting. The owner Shane lives right next door and is one of the nicest people we have ever met. The staff are exceptionally caring and friendly. The environment is safe, interactive and upbeat. Residents need to be able to care for themselves (get dressed on their own and bathe on their own). Our dad was in between stages of his life. He could easily dress himself and look after his own bathing but was not capable of planning, purchasing and making his own meals. Forestview looks after all the meals and I mean very healthy, delicious, homemade meals. They also make sure he takes his medication twice a day. There is a nice mix of residents, both male and female and about 15 residents in total. Some residents have their own little apartments within the building while others like my dad have a single room with a shared bathroom (with one other person). Some of the residents are still quite independent (some still drive their own cars) while others like my dad enjoy sitting in the backyard watching the birds at the feeder or sitting out front watching people walk by. In summary Forestview is a 10/10. They have been a lifesaver for our family and we can not thank them enough !!
