Because now, I realize how lacking all other dairy products are. Seriously. We purchased milk from High Lawn during our stay at a local long-term let with a full kitchen. We brought home milk and ice cream. When that ran out and we returned to our regular 'store bought' milk, I was like 'what am I drinking?' You don't know how good High Lawn Farms milk is, until you don't have it any more. If I lived near here, this is the only place I would get my dairy. Now, the ice cream! So, so, so good! It's not overly sweet. The flavor is just right. Again, not over done. It's 'light'. I don't know how to explain it. I got two scoops and when I saw how much ice cream that was I thought I'd 'never be able to eat all that.' But the ice cream texture is light, not heavy. It's still creamy, but not in the same way as my local farm made ice cream is made. It's light and those two scoops were just the right amount. The store offers more than milk and ice cream by the pint. They also sell a selection of High Lawn farm cheeses and frozen cuts of beef among other things. Besides the store and the ice cream trailer, you can visit the cows and calves in the barn. There are also older calves in the field by the ice cream trailer that you can pet. They come right up to the fence looking for pets. Anyway, you can see I am a fan of High Lawn Farm. Go. Don't think about it. Go. Get the ice cream. Get the milk. Compare it to your 'regular' dairy. You'll understand.

Each week of the entire growing season, we are invited and encouraged to walk through the picking garden, making a flower bouquet to take home, and cutting the herbs we'd need in the coming week. You know how people join places like Berkshire Botanical Gardens? Walking through the picking garden, gathering peace in the sunshine is that. And it's a kind of home, a kind of deep connection to where our food comes from and to the people who work on the land to cooperate with the earth and, in much sweat, bring the goodness to us. I have multiple health problems - stressful chronic health needs that are deeply met by fresh organic food. I can't eat processed food at all. I know I need vegetables constantly. I want to support my local farmers. A CSA makes sense. And these farmers support ME in healthy community -- you've gotta hear about the potlucks! Learning about bread-making from a local author was February and I'm still super-excited! -- and healthy community, by every health and longevity study, is THE factor to be rich in. The young couple working today is really pleasant and greets every customer that came in, including me. The menu is hand written on a chalkboard that takes you back to a time and place before cellphones and the internet. I wouldn't call it a country market but it does have a country vibe or feeling to it. I got 4 sandwiches, I'll post pictures of them later but let's just say, I've had them before, I didn't post them but they're were amazing. I don't suppose you'll find yourself in Stockbridge or West Stockbridge Massachusetts anytime soon but if you are, you owe it to yourself to stop in, say, "Hello" and grab something to eat.

Fresh foods, fresh coffee, fresh, pastries, fresh premade foods, fresh packaged meats, and cheeses from the locals, and don't forget the jams! I have officially made three trips this week :-) They also have the most fabulous juice options! Earlier this week, I chose the ginger lemonade. Very heavy with natural ginger and I love it. It's very tasty by itself, but be ready for that kick of ginger. I happen to really love ginger and know how good it is for me, so I went back and got more. Now, that being said, it is wonderful, mixed with Absolut with a little bit of sugar! L O L ;-) My son and his beautiful wife and kids moved to the Berkshires for his job!! They try to support every local business, because they own one as well!! What a beautiful area!!

They're cheeses are all a must alongside their breakfast sausages and Italian sausage. Full of great flavor and incredibly lean with all the great taste. The rest of the store is stocked with pasta, sauces, breads, local goods, chocolate, ice cream and granola. Everything I've had has been delicious and I can't help but keep going back for some of my favorites. You'll find their name in local markets and farmers markets.

Wow, I never thought I would write a negative review for this establishment. It disheartens me so…read moremuch especially as a long-term customer, small store supporter, and tolerant of all faiths. That changed today when the female proprietor accused me of stealing. Several times she asked me if I needed something before following me to the back of the store to ask me again. Her reasoning was "I was returning to the same spot several times" -- it was twice (I couldn't decided which size ziplock bags I needed). Both my partner and I felt very uncomfortable and decided to put our items back and leave. The female proprietor followed outside to say we could still shop there. I responded she made us feel unwelcome and we left. About 20 minutes later, I returned to discuss the situation with the female proprietor. I had been shopping at the general store for 4 years- and honestly didn't want to stop shopping there. When I walked in, I asked the female proprietor if we could talk about the situation, her response: "I'm standing right here." I started by saying how long I've been shopping at the store and always enjoyed my experience. Today, it felt different and I felt very unwelcome. You know when someone already has their mind made up and nothing you can say changes it? That was this situation. The female proprietor said that she was just checking in and did nothing wrong. When I responded that it felt like she was insinuating I was stealing, her response was "I'm sorry you felt that way." Which everyone know is the screw you of apologies. The conversation continued to go round and round, until I finally said that it seemed like she didn't want to take ownership and that I didn't feel comfortable shopping there anymore. Her response? "That's fine, we have plenty of other customers. We don't need ones like you." Just to clarify - wasn't stealing nor would every. Full disclosure, this is where I (hopefully understandably) got very frustrated and said I was going to tell people of the experience. It was then that another female worker told me to get out, followed by the female proprietor saying the same thing. I left the building, and slammed the door - which I shouldn't have. I honestly have never been treated with such disrespect before. It was overwhelming. When I got to the car (visibly upset) my partner then went in to the store. While I was not there, the gist of the situation was he was greeted with the same disrespect and after more conversation, was told to "leave or we will call the sheriff." For two people who were just trying to patron a local store, this was a terrible situation. I understand that shoplifting is a problem there -they had signs everywhere. Which ironically minutes before this happened, I said to my partner "who would ever steal from a local store like this?" To be treated with such disrespect is so disappointing. After 4 years of shopping here, they have made it very clear - people like me (who was just trying to get a few items, and said she felt uncomfortable by their actions) were told never to return. Hopefully this does not happen to you.

We grilled those filets and they were AWESOME! They showed me the slab for the filets and I asked for a 3/4" cut and it was just perfect - not too much fat - grill it 5 minutes on each side and you should have some nice medium flesh to devour - I'll even add a picture to tempt you. Everything in there was super fresh. I'm adding this place to Yelp because the only supermarket I know in the area closed and this is just the best place I've been to to get meat EVAR! Their store hours are: Thurs: 8AM-1PM Fri & Sat: 8AM-4PM At least that's what their business card is telling me. You can also order a fresh turkey here...just make sure when you park in their lot you don't run over one of the loose chickens chillin' around.
