I'm not sure what you're looking for in reading a review on this hotel. Are you looking at the block of hotels in the area and wondering which is the best? I mean, it's a mass market huge chain hotel! If you've stayed at one Hilton Garden Inn, you've stayed at this one. They're all the same, that's the point of the franchise, and honestly, that's why I stayed at this one. I know what I was getting into, and I know what it's going to be like. It was nice. It was clean. It felt kind of new. The staff seemed nice, but with app check in and check out, I never really had to interact with them much. But they were there and available if I did need something. So come on, stay at this hotel. It's nice. read more

I was struck by the beautifully maintained and clean grounds, building, foyer, elevators, rooms and pool areas. the room layout was really different having two areas divided by a bathroom. The shower was clean with good water pressure and nice product. My only drawbacks were that the pool had a bit of a greenish tint and the beds were very uncomfortable. So I stayed this past weekend at the Hilton Garden inn in Hickory. It's a pretty nice place. second time staying here. But they allow the hotel next door use their laundry room. And there was a incident where i had clothes stole out the dryer by a lady i had a conversation with early on for a good 30-45 min conversation with and she gave me some sad story ... she was the only other person that had been in there while i was washing laundry. I had five items that weren't fully dry so i took the rest of my clothes up to the room and when i came back down she had gotten my half dried clothes out the dryer and when i asked her where my brand new shirt i had just bought the night before she had told me she didn't know and to check the room i lost my temper went back up to my room looked all over for this shirt when i went back down to ask her again she was gone. So i went to the front desk told the girl working to come with me to the laundry to watch me go through her stuff that was in the dryer i was using she told me she would let her manager know the situation and to give him a call Monday morning. Well i did and left him a voicemail and he never got with me and when i called the front desk no one answered. So if you stay there make sure you stay in the laundry the whole time. I'm not mad about the money i spent I'm mad at the fact i paid over 400$ and i just bought the shirt and someone that can't afford to stay in that hotel is allowed to wash laundry there and then take my clothes and run back to her hotel and the manager there was so rude and told me it sounded like a me problem when i called and told him to let him know what happened. My husband was in Hickory for business, so I followed! We had a great stay! The bed was comfy and the breakfast was delicious. The only good thing about my husband traveling all the time, is that he's a Diamond Member which means we get extra perks. Sooooo, our breakfast was FREE! For some reason, my husband thinks he needs to lose weight and orders one egg, French toast, and bacon. I wanted to try a little bit of everything on the menu. Who doesn't love a crispy waffle?!? The negatives would be the dump truck waking me early in the morning, the constant (3 times!) housekeeping checks on the day we're checking out, and the worry of them cleaning (aka throwing his belongings away, it has happened here before...SMH) our room when my husband extended our stay. read more

This is the only hotel we'll ever stay at when in Hickory. We previously stayed here several years ago and had great experience. Great staff and location. Minutes from the Mall and lots of restaurants to choose from. They have an indoor pool which is one of the reasons why we choose this hotel. Clean lobby, common areas, and parking lot. Not a ton to report here. There are several hotels of different major brands all adjacent to each other at this location, and over the years I've stayed at most of them for work. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Perfectly suitable hotel for business travel. Nice staff. Excellent location if your work is on either the 321 or 40 highway corridors. Plenty of (mass market, chain) food nearby. Mall if you need something. Short drive to Olde Hickory if you want to forage for some really good non-chain local food. No included breakfast deals here. $15 for what is usually included at other biz hotels. Skip it. Ditto for their dinner offerings starting at 5PM. Plenty of other options nearby. Work has kept me here over a weekend on longer projects. I pack a lunch, head out to Lake Norman (35 minute drive), and grab a nifty twin-engined jet boat for a 1/2 day rental. read more

This is the only place I stay when I come into this area. Hilton Garden Inn never disappoints and this location is on par with the high quality of this brand. It is easily located off of Highway 40 and Lenore Rhyne Boulevard. There are lots of stores like target, Walmart, Dick's Sporting Goods everything you need within a 10 minute drive. Even a 10 minute walk. Every time I come in the staff greets me warmly and by my second day are greeting me by my name. I particularly love the evening goodies they have at the front desk. They used to be little cranberry oatmeal cookies this trip they were chocolate chip cookies. I actually like these better than the Doubletree chocolate chip cookies. The $10 breakfast is a phenomenal deal and people from outside of the hotel should come eat here. It's a full buffet and they even do omelettes to order. There's nowhere that you're going to get this much food for $10. The Hilton Garden Inn standard layout includes an exercise room, indoor pool, outdoor patio, fireplace, and a wonderful comfortable lounge living room like the lobby. The price per night is also quite competitive with other properties in the area. I especially appreciate that when I download the app I can check in the day before and pick my own room. I like to choose a room that doesn't face the parking lot so when I have my curtains open I have my privacy and it's a view of the trees in the hill behind the hotel. My only very minor disappointment is when I went for dinner last night. I didn't want anything big or heavy just something for a quick early evening hunger satisfaction. I was disappointed to see that both of the tacos on the menu were pork. It would've been nice if the street tacos were maybe fish.The taco shells were not sufficient to hold the filling and it just became a mess in the end. read more

My experience for $700 in 4 days has been sub par. Hilton usually has a high standard of service. My shower leaked all over the floor, tried to use the pool area because I work hard but the hot tub is broke, I addressed a broken desk leg so as to not get charged for their incompetence but no response. Not the best hotel stay. Staff was incompetent. My husband and I were woken up by the housekeeping staff at 8am even with a DND sign on the door. I was trying to tell the check out girl about my stay but she was too busy having a personal conversation with another employee completely ignoring me. The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays. The employees were nice enough but the man that checked us in kept mentioning how ready he was to be off. It took almost 10min waiting at the bar before someone finally appeared to take my order. There was a man passed out on a bench in the lobby and no one seemed concerned. I will say that despite the wait and extremely limited menu at the restaurant/bar the food tasted great. The hallway outside the rooms was a horrific neon orange that frankly felt like an assault just looking at it. When I finally got in to my room it was infested with ladybugs and had an adjoining room. Why wouldn't you warn someone about that when booking?!? I travel frequently for work. This was he worst stay I have ever encountered. I was disgusted what I found in the room. First the carpets were all stained with crayons or marker. Not just one spot but enough to be noticeable. Second there was dust everywhere. I could make a drawing ln the dust so thick. Third and most disgusting. There was feces on the safety bar in the shower. Didn't notice until morning when was showering and was checking out shortly. I contacted customer service as i did not feel $300 for my room was appropriate considering the conditions. They gave me the run around and went thru about 10 emails and got no where. Never ever stay here. If they can miss things like that and take care what will you experience, touch or see?! read more

This hotel is very clean and very new. This place has been open less than a year at this point. If you are a hot tub fan, like we are, then this is a place for you. The water is very hot, like it should be. The only negative is that the jets are pretty weak... but hot is our preference, if we have to choose. Also their water is well maintained. It's very clean. The comp. breakfast is O-K. The guy cooking the eggs is not trained in making omelettes like other HGI locations... it was overcooked. I opted to reorder my omelette because he omitted ingredients. The second try the egg came out better, but he also opted to add cheese, which I had asked to NOT have. Strike two. I gave up. On my second trip I ordered my eggs poached, and the cook did a nice job.... he even added spinach, which I had not requested, but it was a nice touch. read more

We checked in to Hilton Gardens Hickory after another Hilton location cancelled our reservation and told us they sold out. Arriving and speaking with employee ZERO EMPATHY or compassion. We get to our room and could not of gotten the worst mattress of all mattresseslumpy uneven and miserable certainly not what we're use too. The housekeeping team forgot to clean the shower. Looking at a used bar of soap and hair in a shower is disgusting. Finally, we called down to make sure we had a 6:30 am wake up call. Yep you guessed it they forgot, we had a 8:30 am appointment and now we're running late. When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk at 8:00 she kindly wished us safe travels. I normally stay here while traveling for work bi-weekly. However upon my last experience with over sixteen stink bugs and ladybugs crawling on my bed and walls, I will truly think again. I simply asked for another room to be first told that bugs are part of the weather change and I will just have to deal with them. Until a nice front desk attendee overheard he conversation and graciously moved me to another room. I am a frequent guest of this hotel but the demeanor presented by the male front desk attendee makes me question if I will stay again or look for something else in the area. read more

Absolutely exceptional customer service while checking in. I had completely screwed up and booked the wrong date and they were sold out for the evening we were trying to check in. They not only credited my account, but assisted in getting us a room at the hotel next door. So wonderful to see great customer service in action. Under all the decorations and "fluff" are mostly very unhappy employees and it shows in their lack of customer service. No friendly welcome from the front desk, awful room service food and argumentative food staff when approached about orders that were wrong, kids running in the hall at night for an hour without staff intervening even after complaining, awful pillows that go flat when you lay on them, power outage during simple rain pour. Great hotel with reasonable prices (especially if you're from out of town). This is probably one of the nicest, and certainly the newest hotels in Hickory (at time of writing). The finishes are all high end and brand new. Hilton has been very consistent between all of the Garden Inn hotels that I've stayed at, which is a plus if you travel a lot so you know what to expect. I stayed at this hotel for well over a week while I was in Hickory and this is one hotel that truly understands customer service. They welcome you with a warm and friendly smile and give you their best the entire time you are there. Everyone from the Manager at the desk to the maids truly understand what it means to provide top notch service. After spending over a week in this wonderful hotel I truly felt like family to them. Every morning I was greeted with a smile no matter who it was that I came in contact with. They have a restaurant on site that serves a hot breakfast and a delicious dinner. They have a juicy new york strip steak and a delicious pork tenderloin. The sides they offer are just as good and you should most certainly try the mac n cheese! This hotel may not have been open too long but in my opinion they are on their way to being one of the true jewels in the Hilton fleet. If you are ever in Hickory there is really only one place to stay and that's here at the Hilton Garden Inn. read more

My recommendation would be to stay away from this hotel for a few months. The staff is completely inexperienced. The breakfast was horrible. And the bar says it stays open until 11 p.m. They just close it any time the bartender desires. Totally quite a mess. And to top it off, management just says we are sorry. read more
