A nice and clean hotel to rest your head for a night or two. Pet friendly with a pet fee of $15 per night. We got our double bed room for a great price. Vending machines, laundry, free breakfast and WiFi all on site. Our room came with a mini fridge, microwave and hair dryer. Over all, a small room but a nice stay for the price!

There is couple choices in Hickory but I am so glad I decided with Sleep Inn. I decided to go with Sleep Inn because of the price, free breakfast & how modern it looked in photos. I was not disappointed!!! The hotel is clean from the outside to the inside! The lobby was nice looking and clean with friendly team. Paul helped me in reservation and was very patient, listen and provided a great deal! Tania ahelped me check-in and she also was friendly and informatively. The room was just like the picture and it smelled nice entering. Good size TV, microwave and mini fridge. Nice Closet small toiletries for a day. I definitely recommend.

When looking for a hotel where I could stay for one night in Hickory, I wasn't sure where I should stay. I knew I wanted to be in a hotel that had hotel rooms that you could enter from the interior as a matter of safety. When I located the Sleep Inn, I could neither pass up the price nor the modern look of the queen rooms. When I arrived at the hotel, I was greeted warmly by a young woman who checked me within without any fuss and directed me to my room. Despite the person in the room above mine practicing their moves for the World Wrestling Federation, I was very impressed with my room. It was clean, mostly quiet, and had everything I would need for my stay. There was a suitcase stand in the closet so I could live directly from my suitcase, which made things much easier. I couldn't believe how sleek and modern the shower was! It was very inviting and luxurious, especially for the price I paid for the room. I was back and forth several times through the lobby and every time, whomever was behind the desk was friendly and wished me a good evening or good morning. I felt like the hotel really cares about its guests. Despite being woken at 6 A.M. by the vibrating alarm set by the person in the room above me and wishing my ceiling were thicker, this was an excellent visit. I will stay at Sleep Inn again when I come to Hickory to stay overnight!

    Yuck!

I have stayed here in the past so rebooked for a long weekend. Bad idea. Room was filthy. Towels disgusting. Shower felt like we would fall through the floor. I was appalled. But instead of complaining and having more issues we pushed through. Won't stay at this property again.

I wasn't sure what to expect from some of the reviews but I was warmly greeted when I arrived and asked what welcome gift I wanted. I chose the breakfast voucher. I was provided a bottle of water and given a layout of the hotel and even restaurant recommendations. The clerk saw that I had a feather free room request so put me in a feather free room on the 4th floor in the Dogwood Wing. So this saved me from sneezing all night and was much appreciated. The hotel is older but my room appeared updated and was clean. I could tell it was well maintained. The hotel is far enough away from I-40 that I did not hear any highway noise and got a wonderful night of sleep. Noise did start in the morning from construction next door but that is out of the hotel's control and I was awake at that point. So it didn't start too early. My room had a mini fridge and microwave. The water pressure was good. I liked the safety grab bar in the shower as I did almost slip on the PVC floor when it was a little wet. The hotel has a pool and hot tub as well as an exercise room but I wasn't there long enough to use either. I didn't care for the breakfast but service was friendly. I will skip that on my return visit on Friday. I was originally booked at the Fairfield as the Marriott site wouldn't let me book just a night at Courtyard but when I checked again it did. Since I was concerned with traffic noise I decided to do another night here as I enjoyed my stay and felt welcome by the staff. Second Stay: Check in was friendly but I wasn't given a bottle of water. I was put in the Cardinal Wing on the top floor and could slightly hear the traffic at times but the fan covered up any noise. The hotel was full or almost this stay so there was hallway noise and someone woke me up at 7am, so more soundproofing would have been appreciated. But I do like this hotel and will return again.

I didn't see the tray in my room, so I I covered it with plates, I got 1 bagel 2 pieces of toast, bowl of fruit, 2 muffins and a pastry, and some peanut butter, 1 applesauce. I got a few butters and jellies. I had to drive my car around because I couldn't walk that far. I wrapped up food and put plates on top and carried 2 plates to the car and came back to get bagel cream cheese, butter, jelly and cutlery on another plate. I dropped the Bagel. the woman stocking the buffet stood there and watched me fumbling to get the food out to the car, several staff were standing around and none offered to help me, the Buffet Police Woman only came over and yelled "That is messed up" and then said that I needed a tray and told me that that was the tray in my room was for then she insinuated I dropped bagel because I had too much food, she then told me loudly that she saw me carrying food out to the car and that there were other people wanting to eat and that I shouldn't have taken so much food. I told her I was getting it for 2 and I didn't get that much. I then listed the items, she interrupted me screaming at me God Bless You, God Bless you, you have a blessed day, she created a big scene over a dropped bagel. It was such a strange and unpleasant experience. I was in shock. It ruined my morning. I got back to my room and was shaking and upset and I couldn't even eat. It was so humiliating and she was wrong. I didn't feel well anyway, I stayed an extra night because my sister and I were not able to drive home today. Then I get yelled at by the hotel staff for dropping a bagel I am a 60something year old woman who weighs 90 pounds, I am no glutton. It was very shocking and rude. She will be the reason I will never stay at another Best Western again in my life. The main reason I recommend this place is the location. You can walk to downtown to restaurants, coffee, ice cream, bars and other shops. Everything just a quick walk away! The path that goes next to the railroad is the Hickory City Walk. It's pretty nice and illuminated so we felt pretty safe walking back and fourth. The room was pretty nice and the bed was comfortable. It had a queen size bed, a mini fridge, tv, coffee machine and mugs. The floors aren't carpet so it was great! The bathroom was nice but the shower could use more pressure. They had towels and toiletries available. Our room was on the bottom floor and my husband said that you can see movement inside the room from outside because of the window when the lights are on so it needs a better window cover for more privacy. There are free parking spots next to the Inn but for some reason we were told to use the one across the street next to the Warehouse 18. Some of our friends parked in front of the Inn and it was fine. The Inn is next to the railroad so you will hear the train. When we stayed there, the last train we heard was around 9/930pm so it didn't bug us. There's a common area with a kitchen and tables. We didn't use it but it's cool that they had it. The air conditioning is central controlled so you can't change the mode. They have extra blankets available in the common area if you get cold. Overall it was a good stay. The location is really the best! Definitely coming back here next time I go to Hickory. Some walking distance recommendations: Breakfast: Taste Full Beans or Notions. Dinner: Vintage House Lunch / Bar: Olde Hickory Station Dessert: Carolina Crafted (they also sell candles) For kids: Lowe's Foods City Park Other recommendations: Food: Mas Amor Cantina, Charolais Steakhouse, Boca, Fourk, Standard Oyster Co (they had NC oysters for $1). The coffee is incredibly weak, and consistently weak, so it's not just one person. Good coffee, but weak. Breakfast was quite good, if unimaginative, and plentiful when I was there. Two things about the sleeping area. First, the lighting is ATROCIOUS. Foyer light, one light between the beds, with reading lights on the outside of each double, one over the easy chair, and one minuscule desk light for the desk. The desk light wasn't movable, but since the only way to plug in my laptop was to strreeeeettttch the cord to a single available outlet, it was at least positioned where it needed to be. Hotel lighting is notoriously bad, but this was the poster boy. The mattresses are on platforms, but with no lips, so sitting on the bed can cause the mattress to shift by 6" or more. The platform is a knee magnet; I have bruises from hitting it. And the bathroom -- not bad, but the tile floor is icy (1st floor) and the water pressure inconsistent. No exhaust fan means showering with the door open or waiting 15 minutes for the mirror to clear after showering. Towels, while thin, are at least nicely sized. All minor things, but together they truly lessen the Fairfield experience I expect.
