I love the Hilton brand, and arrived to this location after having left a Hilton in NYC (Time Square). I'm attached to this chain, but let's say that this one in Jackson should lose its Hilton branding. It's a beautiful lobby, very ornate and stately. I was surprised at how nice it was when I walked in. I had high hopes, but it went down hill from the time I checked-in: #1 Key system was down upon check-in (after arranging for pre-check and digital key before I arrived) -- and had to be escorted to my room on the 7th floor for about 24 hours. I never got access to the digital key despite 2 different front desk people telling me that it should be working. #2 I was so happy to see a fridge and microwave in the room, but with that comes pests, and I was assaulted by fruit flies during my 4-night stay. This was the worst part of the stay. Really gross, as they were flying in my eyes, and face, and jumping into my drink cups. They were all In the bathrooms, desk, curtains, nightstands, etc. #3 By day 2, their app-based valet car retrieval service was down, and it didn't come back online until a day before my check-out. What was supposed to be convenient ended up being a delay. Kudos to the valets for hustling as fast as they could during the inconvenience. #4 Arrived at the bar/grill one night because the literature said they close at 10, and by 9:10 -- they were like the Kitchen is closed. Okay. Thought closing hours (ON A FRIDAY) were 10. #5 The literature in the bathroom says that they clean your room every other day. I was there 4 days before anyone serviced my room, and then they didn't leave any towels. I didn't noticed that I had no towels (I returned to my room late in the evening) until I got up to head to the airport the next morning. #6 Forget trying to close the closet door in my room -- it was almost falling off the hinges. The only reason that I don't give this 1-star is because it has the potential to be better. Convenient location. Modern/online amenities like check-in and valet apps. And the lobby space is beautiful and the rooms are nice and spacious. I appreciated the 24-hour valet and being able to get or drop off my car whenever I want. The upkeep needs to be better to ensure that all systems are operating at the level that we expect of a Hilton brand hotel. read more

Lets talk about this Hilton location. HORRIBLE!!! We booked a room 3 weeks ago, drove 6 hours to find out that they didn't have a room for my family. We were told the service staff walked out and they didn't have rooms available. We did book with a third party vendor, which was very accommodating and found us a place to stay. It was not my choice but it did the job. There was no backup plan at the Hilton. Since there was no staff available, the rooms that were occupied had to write their name on a list to get fresh towels, toiletries and etc.... There was a black American young lady with red hair that was remained calm, posed, attentive and professional as the crowd grew with disappointment. She was very helpful. She answered the phone while the others ignored them. Thats how we were able to get moved. Crazy part, it was her second day and she ead still in training. What an experience for her. Hopefully, they retain her and she don't walk out like the rest of the staff. Did I mention that there were a bus load of high school students that they had to find rooms for. So sad. They should have notified guest in advance that this occurred so guest could have made adjustments before arriving to the hotel. The outside and inside were clean and look decent. Stayed there last night. I should have learned from my previous experience but was trying to be a loyal Hilton honors member and wanted a Hilton property downtown. Room smelled like smoke. Closet door/mirror was broken and about to fall off. Both reported to the desk at checkout. I went downstairs for breakfast this morning. There were three options on the menu. 1). A continental breakfast which included one single dish of fruit and bagels. 2). The buffet which included the continental breakfast and sausage/bacon, grits, a biscuit. (No eggs) 3) an omelet (not available because there were no eggs) I opted out of breakfast. I asked the front desk and the explanation was they ran out of eggs. This place is severely mismanaged. How do you run out of liquid eggs outside of COVID? Basic maintenance is not being reported and is not taking place and no one is following up for quality control. The one bright side was the staff including the valet, security guard who let me in the hotel, and front desk personnel were very friendly. read more

I drove 2 hours to this hotel, and drove 2 hours back home because of the poor experience and safety concerns. I lost my money but it was so uncomfortable I was okay with it. They desk guy said he couldn't check me out because of my rate. I arrived, the first room 522, air didn't work, shower had black dirt, desk nasty and foil paper from previous guest in cabinet. Next room 813, the door was open when I got to the room. As a woman traveling alone, that's scary. The shower also nasty, hair in the bottom of shower, dust on the furniture, someone's hand prints left on the headboard, AC nook that's locked in most properties, was unlocked. Just overall, left me feeling unclean and unsafe so I grabbed my things, left and drove 2 hour back home. I couldn't book another property because they said they couldn't check me out. I'll miss the event I came for but I'm okay with that, because there is no way I would have been able to get any rest in that room because why was the door open? Also the knob you turn on the doors for the lock, they don't do anything. You have to rely on the metal flap. The phone also missing any details of how to call front desk or anything else. read more

Interacted with 5 different ladies at the Front Desk and 3 different guys on the Valet Team; each were DELIGHTFUL and enhanced my guest experience. This is the 1st time I have stayed at this property, so this review is for the 4 nights that I stayed on business travel. As a HHonors Lifetime Diamond Member, I stay almost weekly at Hilton properties across the USA. GOOD: This HGI is located in an old hotel in downtown Jackson called The Edward Hotel (I believe). From what I was told if was build well over 100 years ago. I really like some of the old hotels which Hilton has put into their Curio Collection properties. This property has the potential, but there is a lit of work to do. All of that staff that I interacted with were attentive and saw to my satisfaction. The room I booked was a King Suite and was excellent. Everything was up to date and functional. I had dinner every night at the King Edward Bar and Grill in the lobby. The menu is out of the HGI playbook, so nothing of special note. More on this under the BAD to follow. There is only Valet parking @ $28/night, so be prepared. The parking attendants were good overall. BAD: As there is a new GM that started recently, I see there has been neglect and there is much to be done. I met the new GM and he will be very good for this property. The property had zero bottles of water the entire stay. This is one of the things I count on, so this was a disappointment. However the lady who checked me in stepped-up and went out and got a large bottle of water, so I really appreciate the attention. As I said earlier, the food at the King Edward Bar and Grill was just ok. There is a 12 oz. Ribeye on the menu for $25 and I planned on having this my last night. I was informed that they didn't have the Ribeye which I do know for a fact that they did have earlier in the week. Another disappointment. Lastly, when I left my room to check-out this morning I was greeted with a pile of trash just outside my door! This is totally unacceptable!!! Overall, I would stay at this property again because of all the good people. Concerning Safety and Service Issues I don't often write negative reviews, but my recent stay at this hotel raised several serious concerns. There was no self-parking available - only valet service at $28 per night, which was not clearly stated before arrival. The check-in process felt rushed, as the front desk clerk seemed distracted and not fully attentive. The hotel advertised an "on-site restaurant" and "room service", but what isn't mentioned anywhere is that both are only available Thursday through Saturday. We stayed on a Tuesday night, so neither was offered, leaving very limited dining options available to us. Once in my 8th-floor room, I encountered multiple issues. The door was difficult to open and didn't lock properly, and a security officer entered without notice, which made me feel very uncomfortable. The room phone also didn't work, leaving no way to reach the front desk or even call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency - an important safety concern in a 12-story building. At 1 a.m., a fire alarm sounded, and my husband and I (along with only two other guests) evacuated down eight flights of stairs. When we reached the lobby, we were told it was a false alarm and that it "happens all the time." None of the residents on the upper floors evacuated, which suggests this may be a frequent occurrence that people no longer respond to - something management should urgently address. After returning to the room, we were too unsettled to stay the rest of the night. We packed our bags and checked out around 2 a.m. because we no longer felt safe or comfortable remaining on the property. Overall, the stay left me uneasy about the safety and management of this hotel. With proper staff training, better communication, and attention to maintenance and security, this property could offer a much better and safer guest experience. read more

I requested some Kleenex twice, as the box in the bathroom was empty, once with a phone call to the front desk and once via message on the Hilton Honors app. I never got any kleenex. The room is maxed out to cool and listing at 80 degrees. Combined with the security and inability to cancel a few days in advance (answer your phones) I had to bail and get another hotel. I love Hilton but this is a miss for me. It could be off but the room also didn't have a made bed and there was a melted bucket of ice. I guess they reuse the rooms without cleaning. read more

At first, we were a bit hesitant due to the surrounding area, but once we stepped inside the hotel, we were completely reassured. The security measures in place immediately made us feel safe, and the staff was beyond exceptional. The room was clean and cozy, with very comfortable beds. Every request we made--no matter how small--was taken care of quickly and efficiently. The highlight of our stay, though, was the honesty and integrity of the staff. We accidentally left $500 in our room and didn't realize until we were already 30 minutes away. We called the hotel in a panic, and Kassandra personally went to check the room. She found the money and kept it safe until we returned. That kind of trustworthiness is rare and so appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel. You Couldn't Pay Me To Stay Here Again! I am shocked that Hilton would allow their brand to be associated with this building. I cannot fathom where to even begin! My girlfriend and I reserved a room at this place while traveling from the Atlanta area back home to Dallas on 5/29/24, considering the fact that it was a "Hilton" and feeling tired from the drive. We made the reservation around 11:45pm while on the road assuming it would be a decent place to sleep for the night. After entering the address into my GPS and arriving 20 minutes later, I was less than enthused as I drove through a neglected, raggedy part of town to reach the hotel. Upon seeing suspicious individuals walking around, cars parked strangely in the middle of the road, I immediately thought, no way. Let's cancel and find another place to stay or just drive all the way home. Unfortunately, due to a technicality of it being past midnight, and now 5/30/24 we were unable to cancel as Hilton Refused to cancel my reservation, even though I had not yet been charged. Reluctantly, I decided to take the risk and stay. To my surprise, there was no hotel parking available except for valet parking, which came at an absurd price of $28 per night. I couldn't help but think, really? You're not in Seattle, New York City, Orlando, or Los Angeles - you're Jackson, freakin' Mississippi. You have no business charging premium parking prices in a run down, sleazy part of town. I ended up parking a block away in a public parking lot for $10, which I still found ridiculous given its location and surroundings but i digress. Upon entering the Lobby to see its "potential" as a historic building met with neglect, bad management, cracked and stained floors. Abused elevators. And not so hospitable night clerk. Upon getting to my room, the story only continued to get more bleak. As i opened the door to my room to be greeted by a room kept at nearly 80 degrees, it was hot and muggy. Furniture is scratched, dented and old. No, this place doesn't have a "Historic Charm" it's just raggedy, neglected. And disgusting. Not 20 minutes in the room before I hear my girlfriend scream from the bathroom! What's wrong i ask! To which she replies, the shower! It's spraying water all over the place! Having to wrap a hand towel around the shower head pipe to keep it from spraying all over the place isn't a quality you expect from a Hilton. The story only worsens. With stained towels, moldy grout. Walls so thin you can unfortunately hear your next door neighbor being intimate with his lady friend over the TV of which doesn't even display the correct channels on its own guide. All in all, do yourself a favor. Avoid this place if you can! What a terrible experience! If you want a hotel priced room with motel quality and want to constantly be wondering if your car will be broken into around the area. This might be up your alley. read more

Honestly the most disappointing Hilton we've ever stayed at. The valet sign was not visible at all. The 2 stars is for the valet once we finally found him otherwise I'd give this review a one star. The front desk was very disorganized and I believe the gentleman was either on a FT call or watching something on his iPhone. There's nothing around to eat and we Doordashed bc quite honestly we were afraid of the area. We asked for extra towels and the front desk guy had to bring it up. Been staying at Hiltons for 30 years and this is the most poorly run hotel I've ever stayed at. I stayed there on a business trip 14-16 Jan 2025. Never Again!! 1. I parked on the side when I got there and brought my bags in. The guy at the door took my vehicle information. Later I received a text that my car was valet parked. I came down and asked what was going on. They said I parked in the Valet lot. There was not one sign or barrier delineating the area. I immediately moved my vehicle to the street. I was told I wouldn't be charged. The next day I see a bill from the valet. I was told once again that they would remove the charge. I didn't trust that so I went to the front desk and asked about it. They said valet was totally separate and that it would not end up on my bill. I received a bill at the end of my stay with the valet charge on it. I called up the Valet and they were extremely rude when I was being nothing but professional to them. I am an Army veteran of 26 years. They treated me like a piece of garbage. I called Hilton corporate and they elevated it back to the hotel and they never called me to address it. Corporate ended up sending me a check, but it was never about the money. 2. I am a diamond member and usually breakfast is complimentary. Not here. You get a $10 credit. **Or you are supposed to. I never received the credit. After 3 calls and promises to do so, they never issued the credit. 3. Milk at the paid breakfast was sour and they had no more to replace it. They did not have any cream for the coffee either. None in the entire hotel. All of the pastries were VERY stale. The server was nice though. 4. The person behind the front desk was wearing a hoodie and seemed inept. Are there no standards at this hotel? 5. Asked for a do not disturb sign for my door, but they couldn't find one. Another associate with me said he didn't have one either. 6. I've made a dozen calls to the hotel and have never been able to reach a manager. They always say he comes in at 10am, but I call and he's never there. I gave up trying to obtain my refund. I will advise everyone to do their best to steer clear of this hotel. Ok first off been a diamond member for 10 plus years almost 200 hotel stays last year all hilton brand. This hotel feels run down hot tub broken when asked about said we don't know management is working on it, ask for management none here at 11 am. Thier have not been bowls for pool or gym for 2 days, other then the used ones all over the floor. The room phones don't work, the tv remotes did not work asked for new ones got one for both tvs, the mandatory 28 doller charge for wallet is bit high, but if going to do it then maybe more then one. Poor kid had cars parked in all valet spots plus 3 in road with flashers trying g to catch up. It is sad because I know downtown area is changing and crime is going down but the apathy of the employees not seeming to care about the guest experience will hurt long term. Talked to 3 other guest over coffee this morning that said they would not be back just to many small unsolved issues. Not a 4 star hotel as advertised on many sites/apps. A 3 at best. Can see the remnants of when it was a top quality hotel, but the city/area has degraded and the facilities have deteriorated. Rust/stains in shower. Smell in room. I typically (90%+ of the time) stay at Hilton properties when traveling and this one simply does not meet the standard expected in order to pay their premium versus other hotel brands. If you stayed at a well run or new hotel in the non premium market it's 2 or 2.5 star status/price would absolutely beat out this location. read more

I stopped and slept at this location a few weeks ago and was upgrade to a dirty king bed room. The sheets were never replace, housekeeping just pulled the covers over and tightened up the sheets but the wrinkles on the sheets along with hair and stains show a different story. They moved me after complaining to a room with double beds only to find one of those beds had what appeared to be urine stains on the bottom right corner of the other bed along with more stains. The bed I slept on appeared to have the sheets changed out. This location is a mess. I definitely won't be booking a room at this location again. The shower had hair on the shower walls along with mold on the shower curtain. The staff on the other hand were extremely nice and did their best to accommodate me. read more

This Hilton seems well located on paper. It also seems like a nice hotel based on the building's history, architecture and beautiful atrium. The truth is much more sobering however. While the hotel IS downtown, this part of Jackson seems pretty dead and not really conducive to much entertainment. A stray dog was hanging out in front of the hotel when we arrived and although she seemed friendly, my husband and I exchanged a "WTF" look. To save on the ridiculous $17+/night valet parking fees, I ended up parking the car myself in an adjacent street in a visible location, hoping for the best. The check-in was quick and our room was clean, so that's that. Some things were amiss though, such as the bathroom mirror light not working and the hair dryer plug barely holding together. I also admit that I'm a bit offended by Hilton trying to sell me Nestle water bottles in my room instead of just giving them out for free. Nobody wants crappy Nestle water and asking your guests (who already paid $130/night to stay here) to pay for it is just greedy, I think. In spite of all this, the staff was nice and polite, so I can't say this was a terrible experience. Gate1Travel tour brought us to Jackson's downtown Hilton Garden Inn for the night. Hilton purchased this old building that once housed a casino and speak-easy on the top level, and refurbished it. It's inner rotunda is breathtaking. Our room was quiet during the night despite the proximity to the city's train line. Breakfast is made-to-order and very good. I regret using my Hilton Honors points to redeem my stay. I've stayed here multiple times, shame on me for returning, as it continues to get worse. This stay was the tipping point, room 412 is atrocious, closet doors missing, microwave not working, shower missing a door, replaced with $2 shower curtain. Beware of over charges, I was charged for 2nd car valet, daily Hilton Honors credits are never applied to your folio. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 or no stars is only because to one nice front desk representative that move me to another room, unfortunately, I was unaware that this was a handicap room. In my opinion handicap rooms should be reserved for handicap reservations, similar to parking. Not able to shower or brush my teeth during my stay because of the rancid black and brown water coming from the faucet, shower, and toilet (added photos). What is a hotel if one can not simply shower? It was one of the most memorable (negative), stressful stays I've had with Hilton. Arrived after a full day's travel to an unattended desk. Myself and 7 other patrons waited 45 minutes with no attendant. Attendant finally arrived saying said she was upstairs cleaning rooms. Why? Why would the cleaning crew leave with rooms dirty? Patrons are unable to check in. There's a serious management issue if the front desk lady is running maintenance, and cleaning rooms. Please rewarded her for going above and beyond. Beautiful hotel. Location is not in best neighborhood, but usually not a big deal. Past two stays have been marred by extremely rude staff at check in. This time the desk person blamed me because the touch free check in which includes a digital key option wouldn't work. Then she proceeded to sigh very loudly when I requested a physical key rather than try out whether or not she fixed the issue and brave yet another round trip to the8th floor. BTW - her "fix" didn't work. Not the hotel's issue though they could warn guests - their tap water was mud brown and totally disgusting. A heads up would have been appreciated. I am just passing through on my way to Chattanooga, TN. This is an excellent hotel. Everyone is very courteous. Valet is on point. Rooms are VERY well looked after before you enter since we live in a COVID time. If you go to the bar downstairs, CJ and La'Kendra are awesome bartenders and look after their guests. You know it's not going well when you start the review before your stay is complete. We arrived and opted for the valet parking since the streets did not look safe at all. So, $18 for a some what safe feeling. The male valet who helped was very polite and made us feel a little better that our car and the contents were in good hands. When you walk in, the lobby is decorated beautifully! We walked up to the front desk because the digital key option in the app was not working when I checked in 24hrs prior and picked my room. The male staff member who was helping us, was stressed. Our room we chose through the app was not available for whatever reason so he gave us one "similar". I did ask for it to be non smoking and close to the elevator if possible. The card was declined twice because of security measures for visa. We solved it and the card went through. After that was good, he was not happy I did not have the card. I told him I have been doing everything through the app for over 10 years and never carry the card and have a back up method of something goes wrong. My card is linked to the app which makes it easier to check in and check out. I have never had an issue. He said, "really, what about you choosing a military rate, no one here approved that." I told him that we are willing to ALWAYS show an ID. My husband, who was tending to our two kiddos heard and came straight up and said we will gladly show ID. After a stressful check in, we headed to the room. When we got in the room, the lavish feeling the lobby gave you went away quickly when I entered the elevator. Once we were on the 8th floor, we headed to our room. The hallway had stains on walls, carpets and doors. The stains continued into the room. There was an odor of marijuana was in the room. Disgusting! It would get worse when the AC kicked on. Why is smoking in a hotel room still an option? I can go into most restaurants these days and not have to say, party of 4, non smoking please. There was a half a bottle of water on the window sill and a large stain on the rug in between the beds. Then bathroom was ok. No major issues. I did run out of hot water. But, it was clean. We ordered room service. The female who answered the phone and brought the food to us was so kind! The food from room service menu was delicious. Great, fast service! No complaints there! My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Jackson Downtown was great! The hotel was very nice, it's beautiful and clean. All interaction I had with the staff was professional and helpful. At one point during my stay my key stopped working, and the front desk staff quickly issued me another one. This hotel is also in a location that's great for walking around Downtown Jackson. Many people I met on my trip warned me not to walk around the area, but I did and I didn't have any trouble at all. I actually really enjoyed walking around and seeing all of the local street art, and trying out an awesome new restaurant. If you're staying in the area I definitely recommend this hotel! read more

Been here for about 7 days so far and room has not been cleaned up at all. I understand due to COVID, they don't clean everyday, so you have to make a request. Well Day 3, I made a request to have the room cleaned. It's now Day 7 and no room cleaned. Very unacceptable. Will not be staying here again on my next trip. What used to be a blight on the Jackson, MS, downtown landscape has turned into a little oasis. I visited with a childhood friend, a high school classmate and her sister, and with a high school acquaintance for lunch. Not having gone to any of the rooms or stayed over a period of time, I cannot attest to the hotel or the apartment conditions. I can, however, speak to the delicious food that I had at the restaurant. This is a very nice hotel, the decor was beautiful and the staff was friendly and helpful. I would have given it at least 4 stars but the shower was dirty with hair clogging the drainage (kind of disgusting). We could tell the room was not cleaned well. Other than that, we enjoyed our one night stay. The bar was nice with a very lively bartender. read more

It's not as pretty as it was a few years ago and they no longer have the pool and hot tub. They haven't updated any info to reflect this so I feel it's fraud. I wouldn't have booked had I known this. read more

We just checked in to our 2 rooms. One has not been cleaned and is filthy. The front desk told us there are no other rooms available and it's after 11 pm. This is unacceptable at anytime but during a time when they should be more concerned about cleaning protocols due to Covid, this is especially egregious. Beautiful old hotel in downtown Jackson. The rooms are nice and many offer a nice view of downtown Jackson. The hotel is within walking distance of numerous restaurants and bars and offers a nice in house restaurant and bar. Room service was quick and tasty without being incredibly expensive. I had shrimp taco and they were fresh and hot and very good. Solid hotel with reasonable prices, clean rooms, nice amenities and wonderful staff. read more

Ive stayed here before on the third floor. It was a good experience. The room was a bit tight but I liked it. Second time...I'm on the fifth floor and it just seems as though they didn't care. Filthy, out of place, broken items in the room. I don't leave reviews but I just had to with this one. I'm not sure if they stopped caring after a certain amount of floors or what but I won't stay again. read more

So disappointed. Stayed there for four days. There is a "No clean" room policy unless you notify the front office within 24 hours. And that's tentative. Mandatory, Valet parking $25.00 per night. However, there were only two drivers attendees. So don't expect to get your vehicle in a timely manner. And lastly, most rude front desk clerks in history! So please don't ask for towels or a receipt. There was also an $800 hold on my credit card that didn't drop for week. I promise you. Never again... read more
