We had a late night arrival (a little past 9-10 pm) and the staff was ready for us. Rooms were standard Hilton rooms for the Garden Inn -- mini fridge, microwave, tiny sink. Double beds and pull out sofa for 3 people was pretty cozy. I'd stay here again if in the area. read more

Taking the old drive from NY to FL. Needed a hotel for the night with two kids and dog in tow. Website for these hotels are kind of confusing so we wanted to wait till we got to the location before booking. And thankfully we did, was able to actually get a better rate directly with the hotel staff Hannah. Was very pleasant and courteous. The elevator was making weird noises and no idea when it was last serviced as it said you could check with the front desk when it was last inspected. Got us up and down though no issues. They have doggy bags and a trash can near the rear entrance. Parking spots way too small. Room was sufficient for the night. They gave 2 free waters, also had a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room. Ice machines worked. Free makeup wipes, lotion, shampoo and conditioner and body wash all in the room. Very pleased with the view too. It literally at the top of the mountain, right down the road like .15 is Texas Roadhouse which was helpful for dinner if you didn't want to get dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Stayed here numerous times, our last three stays we were welcomed by Shanika. She is a top tier customer service and cares about our experience and always has a positive attitude. The rooms are very clean and tidy. They have office rooms, indoor pool, gym, bar & restaurant, and breakfast. They have laundry bags in the closet, iron and ironing board, TV in both rooms, fridge with freezer, microwave, desk area for work and more. It is pet friendly (we brought our dog) so yes I know this as a fact. We will continue to frequent this hotel in the future. read more

Things didn't get started on the right foot. On the Hilton booking website they advertise the government rate as the higher lodging rate meant for Roanoke. Fyi to government travelers this hotel is not within the city limits of Roanoke and only qualifies for the standard lodging rate. It was annoying that I over paid for my room, definitely my fault but their booking practices are deceptive. The bed was fairly comfy. The room was not very clean. My refrigerator was filled with old food upon my arrival and the remote control was sticky. The hotel is pretty loud. I could hear every noise my upstairs neighbor made. read more

The people that I interacted with were quite friendly. That was the good part. I arrived very early in the morning, and the nice woman at the front desk gave me a voucher for a "free" breakfast. So, upon waking up later that morning, I noticed that there was some minor trash on the floor, and a couple of longer hairs in the bathroom sink, which is disgusting. I did go for my free breakfast, and gave the voucher to the waitress. I cleaned the room myself. After checking out at the end of the week, I got the receipt, and when doing my expense report noticed I was charged $14.12 for my "free" breakfast. Needless to say, although I need to visit Roanoke quite a bit going forward, I will be looking for alternative places to stay for the week. read more

This stay was in a different context for my wife and I. We had some renovations going on in our home and needed to spend a few days "off-site" while they were happening. Usually when I traveled for work, and Hilton was on the list of acceptable accommodations, I'd go for a Garden Inn. I've stayed in ones located in Chattanooga, Ybor City, to name a few, and now the one located in Cave Spring. This one mimics my first stay at a Garden Inn in Chattanooga in the early 2000's. The rooms were always clean, everyone you interacted with smiles, and for a complete stranger you felt welcome. The front of house staff (check-in, bar service, cooks) seemed to enjoy their service role during the stay. The last two evenings/nights were no exception. The difference in this stay, as I mentioned in the opening, was we saw how this hotel was a temporary accommodation to travelers using Roanoke as a corridor to other destinations - and we were the locals instead of being the travelers. The feeling at breakfast was bright and cheerful as travelers from different states crossed paths and shared stories about their current journeys while enjoying cooked to order breakfast. The food was prepared well, and as expected. The morning cook had a very warm, helpful, and sometimes amusing disposition. The evening bartender (Robb) was a bit educational for us being that we're new to Roanoke Co. and shared some stories about the area and living in Virginia. The food and bar prices were less then $$, and provided good experience value to price for us. The rooms looked the same to me compared to Ybor City which was the last Garden Inn I stayed in before relocating to VA. As was condition of the common areas, sleeping, bathroom, parts of our rooms. As one reviewer mentioned, the view of Cave Spring, VA and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. We stayed in rooms 201 and 421 the two nights we stayed - 201 edging out 421 a bit. Both had nice mountain views but the last morning we were there a winter storm was coming through so visibility was limited in 421. If there's a need to stay close to home again, we'll make this ours for a night or two. read more

This hotel is very nice. It's on the top of a hill that oversees a shopping area and has a great view of the mountains. There is a shopping center and lots of restaurants around. It's located on a great area. The hotel is very clean and the staff members are friendly. I worked with Lindsey and Tavares who answered all of my questions and made our stay enjoyable. The breakfast was wonderful. Stephanie and Ryan are the best combo in the kitchen!They have a pool (but it's unavailable), outdoor seating area, and a bar. The lobby is spacious. Nice place we stop when on our cross country road trip. Clean, quiet and lots to do in close proximity.

We had a late check-in (11pm) and the staff were welcoming and very friendly. Lobby looks recently redone and has a very comfortable fee to it. Our room was the standard King room, but wasn't very clean. The bed/ sheets were fine, but the carpet was obviously not vacuumed recently and all the surfaces were dirty and had a dirty rag smell. My wife always has her Clorox wipes when we travel so the whole place was wiped down in minutes and we just kept our shoes on until we hopped into bed. There are either not enough housekeepers or they aren't given enough time to really clean the room. Regardless, management should perform an occasional check for quality. All the corners had dust and dirt and the microwave was dirty. Parking lot was totally full so save your time and just go to the back where few people park - there is an entrance there. read more

We stayed in a room here. Though it was nice and clean, there was stuff that wasn't restocked. No regular coffee, and they seemed to have a hard time keeping the regular coffee, downstairs, refilled as well. When there was coffee, they were out of the cups. We came in pretty late, so a lot of the parking was picked over, but we did get a spot in the very back. It was 9:20 am, and we got a knock on the door from housekeeping, and said "you know you need to be out by noon right?" Yes! But it's only 9:20, if it was 11:30 and getting close to check out that would be different. read more

If you have concerns about covid, avoid this hotel. Signage is not prominent as it is in other Hilton properties. Many guests are not wearing masks, are riding elevators and congregating in common areas without masks. Hotel employees were seen inside the property without masks. In comparison to other properites, measures fall short. I was uncomfortable at this property--guests are flouting safe practices in ways I have not seen at other Hilton locations with prominent signage. read more

Very Noisy Room I was in room 223 March 6th to 8th and I am not sure what was above me but it walked with very heavy feet and in sets of 4 so I am guessing it may have been a big dog. The noise would continue till about 10 PM and would be up around 7 AM. On one night the water from the shower was so loud I thought it was coming in our room. On one morning I heard a baby crying from a room adjacent to ours. I did not notify management as I assumed the issue with sounds would be universal throughout the hotel. I would only stay here again if I could be guaranteed a top floor room. I went to review the offerings in the restaurant and was not impressed, a little underwhelming. Fortunately the hotel location is close to many restaurants. The hotel is located up a hill with a winding road, be careful when driving especially at night. I almost got hit. read more

This HGI has a hilltop location with spectacular views of the Roanoke Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a good place to hold small meetings or conferences. The top floor is a suite called the Blue Ridge that has a breathtaking view. The lodging is fine and what one would expect at a Hilton Garden Inn. Food service is offered mornings and evenings. Dinners are ok but don't get two excited about their breakfast. Luckily there is a Starbucks within two klicks and so there ya go. There is a bar but it closes at 10 pm so I'm not sure of its point. The hotel has a decent gym with machines and dumbbells along side a nice pool. I stayed at this hotel dozens of times and had to complain to the staff several times about issues which have repeated enough that I'm only giving the hotel three stars. Small stuff like broken furniture, non working outlets and things like that. Frankly, HGI needs to get their act together. There are many hotel choices now in the Roanoke Valley and guests expect decent service. Whatever happens do not stay in a room ending in '29'. These are all but windowless two room suites. We recently spent a week here in a pet friendly room. We loved loved LOVED our stay. Beautiful views, stars and sky watching, lovely breeze, gorgeous foggy mornings. Staff was VERY friendly. The dogs absolutely adored the huge bed we will now be purchasing a king bed for our home. Restaurant was inviting and food came out FAST. Loved the bloody Mary's at the bar. My husband was so bummed it was closed on Sunday he was talking about getting one al day. We had an amazing room in 209 (no view) but next to storage room and above kitchen so no noises from other guests. May have to stay for a month soon while home gets remodeled and very much looking forward to it. Can't say enough good things about our lengthy last minute stay. read more

As always, the Hilton is FABULOUS! So gorgeous and the view is amazing. We have a two queen with a pull out and there is plenty of space with two TVs. The complimentary soap and hair products also came with facial wipes! The Keurig has tea as well as coffee! Late check in was awesome seeing as we got in around 11. The back door is accessible since parking goes all around the building so no need to walk all the way to the front! Love that! Only complaint is the limited parking and how tight the spaces are. Definitely one of the nicest hotels in Roanoke though! read more

Super quiet cause it's alone on a hill. Seems like you can walk to the steakhouse next door, but you can't. Surprise! So I had to eat at the restaurant inside the hotel. They had drink specials -- inexpensive beer and some super girly cocktail for the low. The food portions were huge. My veggie medley was mad greasy. My chicken tenders were ridic. Massive and entirely too much breading. Good flavors though. Met some cool people at the bar, which is where I dined. (No one sat at the tables.) Most importantly, my room was spotless. Standard HGI. Keurig and five or six diff k-cups offered. A view of the mountains here, and the mall across the street. And I wish I could've stayed here for more than one night. Until next time... read more

One of oddest places hotels as up a steep hill that required way more retaining wall than makes sense. Liked had bar with food could eat at 945. One of the two flatbreads was way undercooked. I don't have anything good to say about this place. The carpets were downright gross in the common areas on my floor and in my room. There was a dirty drinking glass outside the door of my room that stayed there throughout my stay. We found what appeared to be dog or cat bile on the carpet in our room, mold on the walls in the bathroom, our mini-fridge leaking water that spilled onto the floor, water rings on tables, furniture that was frayed and well broken-into, and absolutely terrible lighting. We requested an infant crib when we reserved the room days before but it wasn't in our room when we checked in, and when I requested it again we received it without a sheet. Breakfast was $9.95 per person but consisted of normal continental breakfast food you'd get for free at a Hampton Inn or Homewood Suites: oily and unsightly eggs, sausages, and grits. Kids ran around the halls and knocked on our door at least twice, but I can't blame the hotel for that. I used to be able to rely on the Hilton name to provide a clean and comfortable stay, but this is the second Hilton hotel I stayed at within the past few months that was utterly disgusting. read more

New hotel , built approximately late 2016 or early 2017, sits high on hill overlooking Tanglewood mall, and surrounded by other picturesque ridges. Accommodating, friendly staff, from desk, food /bars service, to housekeeping. Sufficient parking although some spaces a little far from the doors, but hey it was built on a hill side. Quiet rooms, laundry options on all floors (2$ per load per cycle of wash and dry). Breakfast is good value and quality, with sufficient options and tiered pricing. Dinner options were comparable to other restaurants for price and selection. One minor negative I would list is the hotel uses satellite TV service and is subject to weather interruption on occasion. Experienced two major rain fronts during my 5 night stay which interrupted video reception temporarily however, I will not let this random issue dissuade me from choosing this location next time I'm in the area. read more

Me and my husband stayed here Valentine's Day weekend. Loved the new/ cleanliness pf the hotel, also the waitress was very nice during dinner and breakfast. I will say again, the right hand elevator kept getting stuck due to the sensors reacting to the wind. Also they called all guests down to the lobby at 1am because some guest's burnt out candle set off the alarm. We felt sorry for all the people bitching out the front desk associate. I'm very impressed with the level of service at this location. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful during my visit. I was having trouble with my digital key; but the front desk clerk informed me in the dining area that my digital key is now working. She went beyond the call of duty in making my stay rewarding. Further more, the bartender/server, Kristen, was just awesome. The manager even texted me to see how my stay was on Wednesday, April 17th. No complaints. Hilton Garden Inn have great customer service. They were built recently so everything is fairly clean. The hotel also comes with a free shuttle service that takes you to any destination which is really convenient and I really liked. Would definitely recommend Hilton Garden Inn if you are looking for a place to stay in Roanoke! The hotel is also built on top of a hill giving the hotel a really great view of Roanoke. My family and I switched rooms three times without any trouble. It also comes with free breakfast which I really enjoyed. Their breakfast is different than the typical continental breakfast that is already precooked. Instead their breakfast is made to order which I really enjoyed! We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Roanoke on a recent trip to Nashville. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and certainly offers 3-star amenities as advertised. Our room, which was a suite, was everything we expected it would be. I would stay here again. The only downside to our stay was that it was not indicated anywhere when making the reservation that both the pool and restaurant were closed due to covid19. The inclusion of these amenities were a large part of our decision to stay at this property. Furthermore, the breakfast vouchers we added to the reservation were moot on one of the nights we stayed due to the breakfast restaurant not being open on weekdays. The hotel provided a partial refund, but we we probably overpaid by about $15. Not a big deal of course, but if amenities are not being offered, I believe hotels should clearly note this on their websites and through their 3rd party partners such as Expedia. read more

Apparently this hotel just opened less than two weeks ago. I actually had to add it to Yelp to "check in" on the app. We had a bit of a hard time finding the place because it was late and the road leading up to it is a bit undeveloped yet and not lit. It looks like this is in the works though. We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel feels very comfortable and clean. There is nice modern photography on the walls. The rooms are spacious and feel more like extended stay rooms than regular rooms. The rooms have lots of furniture and lots of floor space. The beds are comfortable and the bedding is very nice. There were two down pillows and two regular pillows. That was nice because I'm allergic to down, so my boyfriend took the down pillows and I took the other two. Our room had a flat panel TV, microwave and fridge. There's a good size closet with a full sized ironing board, an iron and a suitcase stand. There's a desk with a nice chair, a big comfy chair with an ottoman and several lamps in the room. One thing I loved was that the lamps by the bed (on both sides!) have both outlet plugs and USB ports! I had my charging cable in my purse, but forgot my plug in the car. So it was great that I didn't have to go back down to get it when I saw the lamp bases. The bathroom was spacious and I'm always a fan of the arched curtain rods that give you extra elbow space. The bathroom products were Neutrogena and there were plenty of towels. There is a nice hair dryer in the bathroom as well. The towels were still super fluffy and we mused it was possible that we were the first people to ever stay in the room of they just opened a couple of weeks ago. There is a pantry downstairs. We grabbed some microwave dinners down there and made them in the room. It was nice to have the option. We also used the complimentary wifi on our devices which was nice. We went down for the breakfast in the morning. There is a small breakfast bar or you can order some things made to order. This costs like eleven bucks, but I was fine with that. You get small card to check boxes on and a waitress takes it to the kitchen and brings your food back to your table for you. This was the only minor kink in our stay. The staff was super friendly, but breakfast wasn't quite what I wanted it to be. On the sheet you can choose different foods. I checked the boxes next to bacon and a waffle, then I saw you could order a half waffle, that seemed cool so I checked that box. I can't eat a whole waffle anyway. I also asked for strawberry topping. I was brought a full size waffle and a plate of sliced strawberries. I have to admit, I didn't bother to mention I had only ordered half a waffle or that I also ordered bacon. I wasn't really concerned with it. The strawberries... ehhhh. It tasted like someone had chopped an onion up with a knife and then immediately used that knife to cut the strawberries. They were horrid. I pushed them aside and ate my waffle. I was half asleep anyway. I do almost feel bad including this in my review because I didn't mention it to the staff. That all said, the hotel was overall really wonderful. We plan to stay again on our way back through the state. It's a great value. I think, altogether, it was like $154 and that was with our pantry food the night of check in and the breakfast. I have no complaints about that! We actually are going to buy swimsuits while we're in NY so that we can utilize the pool when we stay again. Edit- 12/29/14- We've just completed our second stay. I would love to update this review. We still love the hotel and it will be our go to when traveling between TN and NY. I wanted to add a few things. This time we had a fuse blow in our room and the front desk attendant took care of the situation right away. She was great and gave us a solution within a couple of minutes. The entire staff at the hotel is very friendly. They remembered us from our previous stay, which was nice. I'm still meh on the breakfast. I think their set up is sort of confusing. It costs $11.95 whether you get the made to order food or just want a couple of things from the set up items. I think there should maybe be a two tiered system in place here. Even the staff doesn't seem comfortable with the way the breakfast is presented. Also, holy crap, this is a weird little thing, but the elevator makes the most deafening DING sound when it opens. Haha. Weird but wow it's loud. Again, these are little things. The rooms and staff are lovely. The beds are comfy. We like the hotel. We will be back :) read more

This is a fine and clean property, located high on a hill overlooking the Roanoke Valley. The staff are courteous and helpful, and everyone about the hotel was comfortable. HOWEVER, something caught my attention that cannot be ignored, thus the three-star rating. There is NO climate control in the business centre. No a/c, no heat. No way for the staff to help because there is not even a duct in the room. The room was so warm when I was in it that I had to leave just over five minutes after I entered. This is the 21st century, folks. This needs to be reported to Hilton corporate, and either you or they need to fix it, now. It is unacceptable, particularly given the summer we have had this year, that a business centre in a Hilton property have no HVAC whatsoever. I am an Honors Gold member, and this situation is something I would expect from a Motel 6, not a Hilton family property. read more
