We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn for a week for a youth sports tournament. The staff at Hilton Garden is top notch. JD cooks the food and is great and friendly. We prepaid breakfast which was mainly buffet-style, with one day being cook to order. Our issues are with the hotel itself which appears to be in need of renovations. On the day that we arrived, our air conditioning wasn't working and it was quite humid out. The front desk did his best to remedy the situation, but it was still unpleasant. The bathtub in our room showed a lot of signs of wear and tear. Additionally, the room has a small refrigerator but it is a refrigerator and not necessarily a freezer. Our room also did not have a safe. At night, it was also a little dark in the room as there was no overhead lighting. There seemed to be a lot of other families there that week. This means that the indoor swimming pool was continually occupied and you could hear a lot of screaming and banter. read more

Staff was great. We came in from DC and only stayed one night. Celebrating my sisters bday with dinner and a show. Check-in was at 4pm. We arrived at the front desk a little after 12pm. Our room was ready and I was so grateful that we had an opportunity to rest before heading to dinner and the theater. Upon entering the room, I noticed that there wasn't any water on the table BUT the little tag thingy was there. My sister told me to make sure I told someone- so I did. The young lady said that she'd make a note and I wouldn't be charged. Welp! We checked out the next day. I mentioned it again. No problem. You won't be charged. Guess what!? I was charged for 2 bottles of water that I didn't drink. I'm great that I have notifications turned on for all credit card charges. Had it not alerted me when we were almost back home, I would've missed seeing that charge. I called the hotel the next day and the charge was credited back to me. I appreciate the fast response time for the $6 charge. I would stay here again. read more

Stayed here over the weekend for a hockey tournament. Staff were very friendly. A few of the parents stayed up late and Kieth was extremely nice. He was constantly seeing if he could help us with anything and would stop over to check in regularly. This is not the case at many hotels. All of our group was extremely impressed! Where do I start. Do not stay here if you like quiet. Sport teams are very loud and front desk staff will not do anything about it. I stayed here and spoke to Keith about the noise. He did nothing about it. He sounded very sarcastic and was rude about it. Management was nowhere to be found. Management should not hire staff like him. read more

This hotel is not friendly to sports teams. 90% of the hotel was booked with hockey teams. All teams were threatened to be kicked out for the actions of a couple of kids on another team. A code of conduct was required to be signed a day after we checked in and if we did not sign it we would be kicked out. Our children were not allowed in the hallway without an adult. Meaning they couldn't even get ice. My son was confronted by a staff member when getting ice, he's 13 years old. The toilets and showers were clogged and plungers were laying around the hotel. The staff did not clean rooms daily so guests put their garbage in the hallway garbages. They ended up over flowing and they weren't cleaned regularly. Some guests were told the breakfast was free and others were charged for the morning breakfast. I would highly recommend not staying there as an individual or a group. read more

Hotel is a mess! Front desk is in breakfast area and awkward to check in while a dozen kids are having a pizza party? Even though the rooms have been semi renovated the beds aren't new and quite uncomfortable. The most irritating part is the parking fee that wasn't disclosed at check in. I've emailed the property several times demanding the $9.50 parking fee be returned as I didn't have a car while I was visiting family near by! No reply whatsoever. Keep the 9.50, I don't need it. If you're coming to the area stay at best western next door. No parking fee and a free breakfast. read more

I was in town for 10 days for work and stayed at the Hilton and overall it was a good experience. The staff in particular from check-in to serving food and drinks were personable and great--they seemed genuinely interested in helping and providing suggestions for things to do and see while in town. The lobby also has flavored water that changes daily. The hotel itself is nice and recently renovated and has a modern look. The lobby/check-in/meal area is well-lit and very clean. The rooms are also in nice shape and provide everything you need. My only complaint about the room was the bathroom shower was very slow to drain so even a quick shower had me worried that the water was going to spill over the edge. The rooms were pretty quiet but there were a couple of nights where other guests, mostly younger kids/tweens, in town for various tournaments were loud in the hallways running up and down. When the hotel was full the lobby/breakfast area was a tight squeeze and somewhat hectic. It was very conveniently located by my office but also close to the highways, a restaurant next door (Green Mill), and across the way, a 10 minute walk, there is a Wendy's, Chipotle, Five Guys, Target, etc. I was pleasantly surprised by the breakfast provided--there were a lot of options that changed daily, some of it was standard fare but they also had omelets and more on request. I only had dinner one night and it was quite good but dinner I believe is only available Monday-Friday, which was kind of a bummer. But there are options nearby. The bar is small and minimally stocked but they make pretty good drinks, the Conrad Old Fashioned in particular was tasty. I'll be happy to stay again in the future. read more

Stayed here for a date night with my husband. Walking in the hotel it was so modern and clean. Welcomed with water infused with lemon and lime, and fresh coffee. The room was clean and spacious. Note we reserved the king bed room. Sad to read that breakfast was not included in our stay, purchased for an extra fee per person. The food was mediocre and wouldn't do that again. But if your looking for a nice place to sleep you won't be disappointed. read more

This Hilton stay was NOT a good experience !!! When I first arrived with my baby's (my 2 daughters) the weather was very cold freezing light snow & the streets had started to get wet & slick so I was happy to finally arrive to get my baby's inside warm & situated. As we walked into the hotel the front desk rep was very welcoming, nice & fast to check us in. We get to our room on the 2nd floor, we enter our room and the 1st thing I noticed was it was very cold, as I walk in further I almost lost my footing because the tile to carpet had close to a inch drop in separation, very uneven floor. I got my daughters situated and tried to adjust the heat it was not working at all blowing cool cold air. I called front desk & she came up immediately. She couldn't figure it out or fix it I recommend changing the batteries in back of thermostat so she left & returned the thermostat still wouldn't work she said " I'm sooo sorry I would put you in another room but we're sold out unfortunately, I can give you 50% off your stay & bring up some extra blankets, or if you'd like to speak with the manager tomorrow they could do more " I said ok I'll wait until tomorrow to discuss the issues & discount with the manager. My room toilet was not clean, the shower head was broke, the guest next door were VERY LOUD sounded like a WWF wrestling match all the slamming booming banging running from 1am - just about checkout time. The breakfast looked & tasted like it had been sitting out for some hours since the beginning of breakfast 7/8am when we got down for breakfast it was around 10am. The cook did make me some fresh turkey sausage for me, the waffles were self - made fresh, & the fruit, water, juice & milk was good & cold that was about all. As we sat there eating the manager came and said she would take care of breakfast and give me 15% off our stay i was confused like ummmm huh? excuse me ?!?! That's the best you can do the woman last night said she could do 50% and you say 15% wow then she says " ok I'll do 20% god I wish she didn't say that she had no authority to say or do so " I said NO THANK YOU it was cold and I would have left if my daughters weren't comfortable last night and I was not going to take my girls out in the slick freezing streets to try & find a new room last minute so it was best we stay & use extra blankets which we did. We made the best of the sad situation. So she goes to ask " well can we repair the heat while your eating breakfast" ? I said "NO" we're almost done and we'll be checking out soon I don't like people in my room while I'm not present. Manager gave me a space heater we went back up, & maintenance went into my room ANYWAYS without my permission. Then came up beating on my door as if he wanted to enter badly. I opened the door he said I fixed the heat you don't need the space heater I'll take that back and tried to step into my room I said you can wait here I'll bring it to you, mind you I have my two young daughters in my room & one which is a toddler & your trying to be forceful & enter to do as you please! I was not happy with the rudeness or the disrespect with the manager or the maintenance man. The only two people who were very outgoing & genuinely nice was the woman cook at breakfast & the woman I checked in with. I highly doubt my daughters & I will return to this location it was overpriced $135 before & after the 50% discount for the poor service we received $76 ( which wasn't actually 50% more like 40-45%) to sleep in a cold room !!!!!! I asked this manager for the day why did maintenance go into my room when I just told you he can wait until we check out, her response was " oh he knocked on the door & no one answered so he just went in to fix it real quick " yes because you two just seen my daughters & I eating breakfast downstairs so you knew we weren't in the room. If I were the manager & I seen my guest slept in my hotel WITHOUT heat I would have gave them the one night on the house for the inconvenience & MAYBE even a free voucher for another one night stay to make up for this visit. To make sure you would return spend more money with us & not leave a bad review ESPECIALLY seeing I have two young children !!!! Used to stay here a lot which is funny since I grew up down the road, but when J came to visit before we were married and I was still living la vida broke-a with the parents we would splurge for a room here. Nice sized rooms with mini- refrigerators and microwaves.Big plus when eating out gets to be too much. HBO and VH1 for vegging. Comfortable beds, clean and spacious. NIce welcoming lobby. Friendly staff and a small run of the mill restaurant in the lobby. Right across the way is a Green Mill, Super Target, Round Robin and easy access to the freeways. read more

Yesterday I had the NY strip and a glass of Sea Glass wine, the steak reminded me of my childhood when my mom used to hammer the steak down to soften the beef for us to eat, but in this case they forgot the hammer. The steak was tough and way to much seasoning. The wine bottle was probably open 1-2 weeks ago, so not a good aroma and definitely not a good taste. I have mixed feelings about this hotel. There were a lot of great things, but also some things that REALLY stunk. As any performance review should go, we'll start with the positive: PROS: Really friendly staff and good service. The breakfast was great. The hotel was clean and my room was comfortable. Fairly close to Bethel. I arrived very early because my flight was early, and they were very gracious in getting me their first available room. Now we whollop you with painful truths: CONS: The hotel is CLEARLY geared towards business travelers. Having said that, I was a business traveler who was there over the weekend, and as a result, there were a lot of amenities that were not available. The main one being the shuttle! I wasn't informed that the shuttle did not run on the weekends until I called to request shuttle service. As a result I spent a fortune in taxis. I also had planned to check out Mall of America on Sunday, but again, no shuttle service and this hotel is FAR from the airport and Mall of America. Really far. If you're going to be there during the week, you should be fine, but if it's on the weekend, rent a car, or stay elsewhere! Also, they do not have a full restaurant. Again, if you want to get dinner or order room service on the weekends, you can't. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance, but the heavy rains meant I enjoyed a dinner of baked lays and iced tea (I can't blame the hotel for the rain though. :)) Completing our negative sandwich with positive bread: Overall, it's a solid place to stay if you are driving or it's during the week. However, given the reduced amenities on the weekends, the rate seemed a bit high. I liked the hotel, and was comfortable, I just kind of felt imprisoned because I couldn't go anywhere. So long as you know what's not available on the weekends and plan accordingly, this is a decent place to stay. read more

I should have a "canned" review for HGI's. They are all fairly consistent. Some are newer than others etc. Very nice staff, warm cookies around dinner time. They will even buy you a beer if you eat dinner there. Good location directly off of highway. read more

Five stars for service and great attitudes of the staff. You know the hotel; it's the same HGI anywhere. Exceptional service sets this one apart. I travel daily/weekly all around the country; so many hotels. NEVER until this hotel has housekeeping proactively, without being asked, in response to my Do Not Disturb sign left on the doorknob of my room a bag of fresh towels and toiletries. Just because "one might still need them." True. I just don't like people coming in my room without me there. So thoughtful and proactive. Thank you! Also fun differentiator: on front desk is a scrabble board with themes so guests can stop to make words. Super cute touch! read more

Rooms and amenities were good, plus the hotel had an excellent & helpful staff. Close proximity (walking distance) to several restaurants adds a nice touch. Easy access to the highway system. The only downsides were the small pool and workout room. read more

Was ok, same as many other hotels - nothing special. No free breakfast and only option in hotel is the buffet for $9.95 - way too expensive. They say they have a lounge but in actuality it's the lobby of the hotel - not good. ALSO - made local call to Green Mill across the road and even tho it's posted that local calls are free - it was not. They charged near $5 on credit card and we were in too much of a hurry to leave due to impending bad weather, that we didn't bother to check out at the desk. This was very disappointing. read more

As with other Garden Inn's, it's a practical hotel with limited frills. However, the staff at this hotel are really fantastic and go the extra mile to try to help the guests. I had some dry cleaning I needed done after the cutoff time and the staff member not only checked with their primary service, but also called four other dry cleaners to see if he could find a way to meet my rush job. It wasn't possible, but the effort - which I didn't ask for - was really appreciated. Location is very convenient as well. read more

I'm writing this on the last day of a five-day stay, having just finished another better-than-average buffet breakfast. My room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. There was a bit of rust around the door frame in the bathroom, but that was nothing that bothered me. The staff are what makes this place shine. Is it a Minnesota thing? Most of my hotel stays are in California, and it's definitely a different culture. Whatever the case, I made the following observations: 1. The housekeeper does an excellent job, even to organizing my toiletries neatly on a towel. For some reason, I really appreciated this neatness. In real life I'm afraid I'm a messy person. 2. My second morning, I burned my chest badly with a curling iron. Sheila brought me bandages, antibiotic cream, burn cream, and even gave me lidocaine spray to spray as needed throughout the day. She then asked how I was when she saw me at breakfast, and tried her very best to feed me - in much the way my grandmother would under the same circumstances. She chided me for not eating enough; I like small breakfasts. However, she let it go at one assurance that this would be plenty for me. She continued to ask how I was doing every time she saw me thereafter - as did Julie, who was working the front desk. 3. The rest of the staff were similarly friendly and attentive, without being overwhelming or obsequious. It was like a stay with family I never met. My company has offices in the area, so I'm sure I'll get back. When I do, I'll certainly stay again. read more

If you are a business person I think this is your hotel, if not go somewhere else. The staff is very nice. That's about it for the positives. First off, the hot tub had dirt in it for 2 days, only when I told them did they clean it. They obviously do not check out the pool status nightly. Also kept running out of towels and said they are not used to being so full. Never cleaned room after I asked, again too busy because they were full. Is this a side road motel or a Hilton? No room service on Friday or Saturday. Brunch is good I will say. There was feces on the toilet seat in the men's room off the lobby. I told them the day I checked in, I SWEAR TO GOD, 5 days later I checked, it was still there. It was there the next day, so I wanted to check when I left, guess to busy again. Hairdryer in room did not work. Shower head is so low it's for Hobbits. Pool is tiny (again probably more geared for business people who do not care about swimming). If you want to go with your family don't go here. read more
