The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. It's your very basic hotel. The air conditioning didn't really work and our room was always stuffy even though we had the AC set low. The remote to the tv didn't work. The breakfast at the hotel also isn't complimentary even though it really should be. It's boxed eggs and floppy bacon with some fruit and cereal. Like I said, if you only need somewhere to sleep then this may work really well for you. read more

The hotel and rooms are nice but the TV's in the room are garbage. I had to put in my Netflix account numerous times and sometimes it would freeze up and then not work. I don't know if it was the TV or the Wi-Fi. Also I was going to use the complimentary shuttle bus but I was told that it was not operational because of low staffing all 4 days we were there. Without out a car it is expensive to get around using ride share services. I will look for another hotel next time that is closer to more businesses and restaurants. read more

This is my preliminary review as I just arrived here an hour ago. The hotel is big and it has a restaurant. As a vegetarian, I did not find much food for me at the restaurant and I had to apologize and leave manager was friendly and recommended me to go to at the Galleria. What prompted me to write this review is that when I arrived there were three people at the front desk. There was one lady who looked very upset. Then the European lady who was professional with me, and I noticed her name tag was upside down and she apologized. My big question is she's right there with two other colleagues couldn't they tell her the same thing that I brought up! And these folks are the faces of the front desk! I have seen more decent service at two star hotels. I noticed the tough staring lady gave me this evil look and I did not like that vibe. Otherwise the place has a shuttle that run every half hour. Club M is a private membership only. I wanted to do but it's about $30 a day I'm going to the office. I do not wanna spend $30 to go to the lounge. The fitness center looks decent and we center is next to a very big pool. So Wi-Fi is technically free but for baseline if you want to use it to stream, you have to pay another fee so I don't like all of this pennypinching but then again it's a hotel. read more

To start, I really do not understand the low rating of this property. I stayed here many times years ago and always thought it was what a good Marriott is supposed to be. My most recent visit did not disappoint. My Titanium status was recognized with an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. Suite was extra spacious and clean. We had some time to kill on Saturday and stretching out on the couch watching football was much preferable to finding a bar to watch a game. I always check out the pool even if I no intention of using it to see if the water is clear and look for the absence of a chlorine smell to indicate in my mind, good maintenance. Result - perfect. The restaurant was most busy during breakfast and not much at all during lunch or dinner where I'm not even sure you can get more than bar food. This doesn't bother me as we enjoy finding new restaurants rather than eat in the hotel we're staying at. The bar was just fine in the evening. This Marriott like many have converted from a Concierge Lounge to their branded "M Club" located on the ground level. We really didn't use it this visit except to grab soft drinks and bottled water. Staff is superb! Hotel manager was visible throughout our stay and obviously did a good job training his staff. Everyone we encountered was excellent from the bartender, front desk staff to our housekeeper who made sure our suite was impeccably clean. This is a property many other hotels would do good to emulate. read more

Spent four days at this property on a recent business trip... The four nights in the room were almost perfect. We did have a couple bumps. The room's refrigerator didn't work, but I didn't need it anyway. Some minor issues with the mobile key... Amenities there are many and available to you as a guest. Staff and room cleanliness were both wonderful. Parking is an on site ground level lot. Hopkins and the neighboring communities are all welcoming and chill. read more

You will never want to leave and you don't have to go anywhere. Whatever you want is at the Marriott. It is a stunning property and nestled in a lovely area. Each room is large and pretty. We had a suite and it was huge. The rooms are spotless, the beds so comfortable and everything you need is in your room. They are just lovely. The staff is super kind and can give you ideas of where to go if you leave the property. I personally don't see the point, but I come here to relax. The pool area is great and always warm. The food is amazing. You can have all your meals at the hotel. Room service is fast and good. You will love this place, and they are family friendly. read more

I would say, the mixed reviews you see here on Yelp is an accurate representation of this Hotel. Marriott is near and dear to my heart. I am a gold elite member and have stayed in my fair share of locations across the country. Walking in to the establishment, it smells uniquely Marriot. I have noticed that Marriott seem to pump smells into the air of their lobby's at various establishments. My favorite is the scent of The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Fresh fruit water is available, the bar area is lively. The environment is posh while at the same time I am adoringly reminded that I am in Minnesota by the painting of the Moose staring at me from the lounge. Above all, the staff is extremely warm, kind, and inviting. I'm not sure if this is 100% due to the Marriott brand, or rather the kind nature of Minnesotans. Regardless, it is noted and appreciated! When I checked in, I discovered that an authorization form was required to run my bosses card for the room. Rachel at the front desk was beyond helpful and emailed the form to me and allowed my boss to return it to her via email. She was so pleasant and honestly made a really stressful situation seem like nothing. Thank you so much Rachel. The room is standard Marriot with a touch of "This used to be a bit dingier". The bed is comfy and the reason why I choose marriot time after time. The view is gorgeous. The room is seemingly small but plenty of space for one person here on business. The AC system is antiquated. I'm up at 1:30 am because it's too hot and I can't sleep and the AC is doing nothing. While the giant picture of a snow covered cliff is somewhat cheesy to some, I kind of like it. It reminds me that I am in Majestic Minnesota. I think it's fun. There is a lamp in my room that is crooked, which makes me wonder why housekeeping hasn't done anything about it. I think the oddest most non Marriot thing that has happened is that I ordered room service and paid $5 extra for it to be delivered and my food came shoved into a Togo container. It was just a tad tacky for me I guess. I tried to give my credit card over the phone and was told they would take it when they arrived to my room and the woman had to take my card and go all the way back downstairs and run it and come back, why didn't they just take it over the phone or have a square app? The pool area is nice and relaxing. Something about it feels outdated that I couldn't put my finger on. Overall, this is a decent Marriot. My biggest concern is the price point. I have stayed in far nicer Marriotts for less. I feel that this specific location is taking advantage of the business demand in the area. There are a lot of corporate offices that use this hotel for out of town employees. My recommendation would be to stay here if you need to for business, but if you're not affiliated with nearby businesses, seek a different location if price is a concern for you. read more

Well. It's clean. And it has what I need. And the bed doesn't suck. But it's nothing special. Be prepared to move the bedside table so you can plug in your phone at night...because they have nowhere near your bed to plug it in unless you do so. And, you can only watch tv laying on your side. Since my last visit there have been definite improvements. My room was clean and comfortable, with a pretty spectacular view considering it's Minneapolis. The restaurant is now the Blue Birch, and they offer a full buffet breakfast that has all the different breakfast foods well represented. The food did not blow me away but it was quite good, especially for hotel food. This is not a free buffet however I would say it's worth the price. New is the M Club Lounge, an area reserved for Marriott Gold/Platinum/Concierge floor people. Being Marriott Gold, I was able to use this and it was SO worth it. Quiet, well equipped, decent "cocktail" hour with cheese/fruit/quesadillas and more. Comfortable seating, free color printing, well equipped with sodas, water, wines. The hero of my latest stay was Scotty, the Concierge/Van Driver. In one of my dingbat moments, I left my makeup bag at home. Not great, I had business meetings, and I arrived at 10 PM. He cheerfully took me over to a 24 hour Walgreens nearby, waited for me while I picked up what I needed, then cheerfully brought me back. Life Saver. Thank you Scotty! The staff to a person were pleasant and helpful. Definitely would stay here again based on this stay. read more

Christmas was ruined! There was an unfortunate series of events happening all throughout our hotel stay and Rachel B. - the on duty manager was not helpful at all. The hotel was dusty (literally and figuratively) I got an allergic reaction due to the fact that the room wasn't clean, then we got moved to a different room which had an unknown yellow substance running down the wall and popcorn everywhere- after complaining about the second room- we got moved AGAIN to find out that the sheets on our bed had holes in them and another unknown substance. This hotel is disgusting and the people that work for this hotel aren't far from it either! I will NEVER stay at The Marriot in Minnetonka. Such an embarrassment to have been dealing with such poor service and people. read more

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel for about 15 years and are Titanium Elite members of the Marriott Bonvoy Program. When visiting relative this weekend we stayed here and had the worst experience of our entire 35 year traveling life. Everything in the hotel that is not associated with the front desk staff works great, however, the front desk staff is poorly trained, arrogant and acted like a bunch of "old ladies" who just quote chapter and verse from their "system". They hide behind the "system" and fail to take into account 35 years of loyalty to the Marriott brand when dealing with us. We were shocked and amazed at the extremely poor attitude of the front desk manager and 3 of his associates who banned together to "tell us" what they could not do for us, while we asked for an extension of our 2 night stay to 4 nights. The way they "banned together" to tell us they could not fulfill our request was clearly not in the Marriott way that we have seen for over 35 years. So, we clearly will now go back to our Hilton Honors program, where managers of hotels do everything they can to accommodate their guests. In an time of post Covid 19, it would seem that businesses would do everything to maximize profit and take care of their most loyal customers, not this hotel, they want to "tell you" that your file has been annotated and you should not waste their time because the front desk people are so busy helping others", direct quote. (Oh, and that was while 4 of them were standing around looking at the ceiling) Good Marriott, you have done a great job training these "old ladies" to be drones that can't even communicate with customers in a casual and professional manner. The staff here is a balanced blend of professional and friendly. The 2 gentleman at check-in and Lisa at the bar were approachable and prompt. Lisa in particular manned a full bar/restaurant all while training a new person. I even caught her giving words of encouragement to her counterpart which was wonderful to see! The pool area has a sauna which I'm disappointed I won't get to use, and the gym has resistance equipment beyond just your ordinary free weights like most hotels. We booked this location as it was represented as a four star top of the line Marriott property. That representation could not be further from the truth. Let's start with the good: 1. The coffee was excellent. 2. The staff was friendly, attentive and totally unable to correct what was wrong. The bad. Our door lock was so difficult to access (and could not be repaired because of who knows why. The food and marketplace selections were limited and what was available was bad. We were five. Free breakfast coupons only to get food (albeit free) that was inedible at best. The hot tub in the pool was broken for the entire stay and the club was under renovation (a fact omitted from the website and a primary reason we stay at Marriott better hotels). The facility is old tired and two star at best. No value here. There are many much better choices so stay clear of this beast. By the way I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and loyal to the brand. I've only been to this hotel post Covid, so it's pretty ghost town. This location is in a little hidden area by offices with the sweetest little pond with koi in the back with a bunch of trees and tables you can have breakfast or other meals at during good weather. The rooms were all very updated and very clean. The beds were of course divine, the sheets and pillows, divine. The towels and toiletries came in a wrapped plastic bag. I asked for a little coffee maker an extra decaf coffee and was handed to it upon check in. My niece and I were having a little decaf coffee party so I needed more decaf and all the employees were super friendly and sweet at going in the back office to get me mores. The pool was locked so the employees have to let you in, but they do it quickly and in a friendly manner. The pool isn't terribly large, but there's also a sauna, shower, bathroom, and hot tub. They also have a restaurant where you can get all your meals, breakfast is not included. A quiet, comfortable, clean, friendly experience. read more

I stayed at this Marriott when I had to travel here for work. It's your basic business hotel. It has everything you need, but it's definitely not one of the nicer Marriott's I've stayed in. It's on the older side and the beds/pillows weren't as comfortable as I would have liked. I will say this, all the staff here I encountered were incredibly friendly and accommodating - definitely top notch. I ordered room service one of the nights and the food came out quick and was reasonably priced (for room service). It was quite tasty too! read more

As I continue to travel for business many times a month, I decided it was time to upgrade my review to a 5 star for the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest. Of all the Marriotts that I stay at, this one is by far the best in that level of brand. This hotel looks and feels very clean. When you walk in there is an inviting aroma. You get into your room and everything is always very clean. Yes, it would be great if that was the case always, at all hotels, but it simply is not. The showers and bathroom floors are spotless and very functional, as is the entire room. I like the room set up here than the others I stay at. It is very functional, with a good use of space. And of course the bed. The beds are very comfortable, again, not something I find that often. In addition to the great rooms, the Club room is lovely. It is full loaded for breakfast, with ample space and comfortable seating. I love starting my day in here. The staff is always prompt to clean up, stock and assist any need you have. There is a staff member that is always near the door. I'm not sure his role, but I like him;-). He's friendly and will say "be careful it is slippery this morning" or give other necessary information. I look forward to my next visit as I know I'll have a cozy, comfortable and very pleasant stay. read more

I had a terrific stay here. Each person I interacted with was friendly, fun, on top of their game. Several even call my by name when I see them walking around, which I think is pretty cool (and a skill I do not possess!). Lisa at the bar is particularly great. Super friendly, good at her job, remembers what you're drinking, solid pour, and funny to boot. My room was a good size, clean, and the bed and the desk and chaise were comfortable. I appreciate having the fridge, though it was a bit noisy. I had a couple of meals at the restaurant and they were good (salmon burger, zoodles, brussels sprouts). The space and the surrounding grounds are really nice. Outside the hotel there are multiple seating areas, from a table and chairs on the patio to rocking chairs by the pond to a chair circle around a fire pit. Really nice. The surrounding areas also have nice paths to walk around ponds with turtles and fish. Very nice to just walk around. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

The refrigerator was making a strange humming noise late at night so I unplugged it and left a note for housekeeping in the morning but I accidentally unplugged the television and when I plugged it back in it wouldn't turn on. If you are gold or platinum elite, or just staying on the concierge level this Marriott is for you! The front desk was ready for me upon check-in on Monday with my card so I was there for all of 10 seconds. The concierge lounge also was far above average with full dinner fare beyond the normal assorted vegetables and tiramisu for dessert, far above the normal cookie plate. The real golden opportunity came tonight when the general manager held an elite appreciation reception featuring free top-shelf cocktails and high-end dinner fare. They even used fresh items from their hydroponic and greenhouse gardens! As a platinum member traveling all over the United States I must say how impressed I was with this Marriott over many others I have stayed at. I will certainly be staying here for now on! read more

I stayed at this hotel for 4 months (was managing a project in the area). I checked in every Sunday night and checked out every Thursday morning during my entire stay. The only fault I was able to find with this hotel was the TV (not a flat screen like a lot of hotels now have). As stated by other Yelpers, the rooms were very comfortable. The beds made it very difficult to actually want to get up and go to work every morning! The Concierge Lounge ( for Marriott Platinum members only) had a very nice breakfast spread every morning. I don't eat meat for breakfast so I don't know what, if any, meats were provided. What I did enjoy was the abundance of fresh fruits (pineapples, melons, strawberries, grapes, etc.), oatmeal, baked goods, beverages (water, soda, OJ, coffee, tea) that was provided. In addition to the breakfast spread, the Concierge Lounge also had a great early evening buffet. The Front Desk personnel was incredibly nice and helpful. I was greeted by name upon arrival every week. The restaurant staff went out of their way to prepare my meals to my specifications without ever making it seem like a burden. The gym was great too. I usually work out in the evening so I did not have to wait to use the equipment. There were a total of 3 treadmills (each having a TV screen), 2 bikes, 2 ellipticals, 3 balls, and plenty of free weights. The hotel has an indoor pool and hot tub but I did not use them. Like I said, the only issue with the hotel was the TV. Aside from that, the hotel and its wonderful staff made my 4 months in Minnetonka very pleasant. read more

Just stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. Easily the best stay at a Marriott property ever. The staff was amazing to us and beyond kind to our son with special needs. Front Desk & Restaurant staff were awesome. The food was great and plenty of space for family to join us for breakfast or dinner. The pool area was large and there were very nice workout facilities. This is an OK Marriott. 3 stars for location. This hotel is not near anything, really. Not a lot of restaurants, shopping, or anything else nearby except for businesses. So, if you need to work at United Heatlhcare or something, this is the perfect location for you. 3 stars for the rooms. They are clean, but need updating. The hotel. outside of the main floor, needs renovation. Its starting to get that old grandma's house smell. 4 stars for service. Front desk staff was pleasant. Concierge lounge staff was super friendly (the food was so so). 4 stars for the breakfast buffet. They do have a shuttle, which is great because a cab ride would be pricey. This hotel would do in a pinch, but I don't think I would stay here again based on all of the options in the Minneapolis area. This was the hotel for the wedding we attended, so it did the trick. read more

I feel a few of the reviews are undeserving and do not represent the hotel as a whole. I myself am usually not fond of staying at hotels at all, but found myself SUPER impressed with the Marriott Southwest. The rooms, while pricier than other hotels in the area, are stunning! This is not your standard room with 2 queens, an orange paisley catpet, and a watercolor art piece over the headboards. Oh no, these rooms exceed expectations. I'm guessing there has been recent remodeling. Each room boasts a grand view of the cities through a large corner window, and the higher up you are, the better. Modernized bathrooms with a full glass door shower (not the crappy bathtub and curtain) and several full length mirrors. The carpet is neutral, and the chaste lounge is decorated with throw pillows. The rooms truly do feel classy and sophisticated. I love that this hotel has a patio! Several picnic tables, comfortable and plentiful patio furniture, and a few bonfire pits surround a serene pond. Sitting by the fire in the evening with the warm outdoor breeze was quite relaxing. The staff here are very pleasant and curtious. I reported water on the floor of one of the public restrooms, and someone immediately rushed to clean it up. We also had a few wait staff during meals who were attentive and efficient. Plus the food was very good. Yes, we were impressed. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I feel there are a few others in the cities that exceed the feel of the Marriott, but for the commercial name and the price, this hotel is hard to beat. read more

Stayed at this Marriott in September for a training close by. With Marriott being my hotel brand of choice I was not worried about the accommodations. But this Marriott sure falls short of other Marriott's I have stayed at. The room was not updated at all and had wall to wall wood paneling with a weird forest mural on the wall. The A/C made crazy noises all night even when it was off, the room had old popcorn ceilings and the bathroom fan didn't work and the paint was peeling from the ceiling in the bathroom. The hotel must be in the process of remodeling because my friends rooms on higher floors where nothing like mine. As far as the lounge/cafe the food was delicious, especially the desserts, but the service is slow. Not sure I would stay here again unless I had too. read more

It was the middle of January and it was freezing cold! Good thing i booked this marriott next to my company's corporate office so i didnt have to travel far. I was impressed by how fancy it looked and i've stayed in a lot of marriotts to know that this was an upgrade. when you walk in, the door opens to lounges and a bar full of business travelers. the hotel was serving free coffee and warn cookies- probably cause it was under 10 degrees outside! the front desk folks were easy to communicate with- asked for a room near the elevator and i got it. asked them for directions to targer.. i got that too.. i used their hot dry sauna- good thing there was no one there... they have an indoor pool too but it was pretty dead. anyhow- this marriott was nearly resort like- everything you need is there, i definitely would book this place again. read more

This has become our home away from home in the Minneapolis suburbs. The staff is exceptionally friendly, the weekend prices are fantastic, the rooms are a bit dated but always spotlessly clean, the beds are super comfortable and most importantly: it is QUIET. My favorite part of this hotel is the warm pool with a box of pool toys. I would not recommend the breakfast buffet unless it is included with your room.
