I've been traveling quite a bit lately and staying at several Hilton properties. To be honest, my expectations had become pretty low because so many of the hotels have been disappointing--dirty rooms, unpleasant smells, and poor customer service. This property completely surprised me. The hotel was clean, fresh, and well maintained. There were no unpleasant odors, and the front desk staff and breakfast waitress were both genuinely friendly and welcoming. I'm not sure if it comes down to great management, but whatever you're doing here is working. Thank you for taking pride in your property and providing such a positive guest experience. Typical Hilton hotel. It was clean, and I didn't have any problems with no towels/supplies in the room. My parents room next door to mine was extremely hot, and no one fixed this throughout the weekend, this was the only problem I had. The staff was great! I was here for a wedding, and the wedding couple was giving gift bags upon check-in. The staff welcomed us to Tyler and gave us our gift bags with no problems. read more

Upon arrival at The Hilton Garden Inn Tyler Texas, we were greeted by Itzy at the front desk. Itzy greeted us with an amazing smile. She was very knowledgeable of all products, services, and was extremely friendly, and hospitable. She was the epitome of what customer service is all about. What a great asset to the Hilton. The lobby was clean, very warm and welcoming, although we did not get a chance to visit the bar area, I can say that It looked and well maintained. Our room was 2 Queen double bed, it was clean and fresh smelling. All supplies ie: Shower gel, Shampoo, Lotion, Soaps were available, and the towels smelled fresh and clean. This is a large Hilton capable of hosting mid-size conferences. I had a lovely spacious room and enjoyed breakfast in the lobby. They have a breakfast bar but also a menu from which to order other specially prepared options. The wireless rocked (always necessary these days). read more

My grandson and I stayed here over the Memorial Day weekend. The rooms were okay and although I had requested a first floor room close to the elevator because I am a disabled veteran I was given second floor not close to the elevator. The pool and workout areas were hidden off in a first floor area. The worse part of this trip was when I took a shower, clinging to the shower wall was a long brown hair. I have grey/black sisterlocks. This was totally disgusting. The staff was nonchalant and didn't care. That day I left thinking my room would be cleaned. I had turned out the lights yet when I returned, the lights were on, the bed was still unmade, the wet towels were still on the floor and that disgusting long brown hair was still sticking to the wall. I slept there the second night but got in line after my daughter's three kids and showered there. I'm done with Hilton. I stayed in a Hilton in Tulsa, OK last year with wonderful amenities, this one wanted $12 for breakfast! What happened to complementary breakfast? Because my 11 year old grandson was with me I didn't stoop to the level of saying anything to the low-rent people working there but I'm done with this dirty little spot with their heathen staff. We've spent a lot of nights in 3 different King Suite with Living Rooms at this Hilton Garden Inn. They are all spacious and clean, surprise bonus being a half bathroom on the living room side. Living room side also has a microwave, mini fridge, and a small sink. Front desk staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is not included - continental breakfast options are fairly standard, they also have a made-to-order menu. The restaurant is also open for dinner, but we did not try it. Downside, the beds range from ok to terrible. The actual wood bed frames were all extremely loud getting in and out of bed. The mattress in one room was awful, but not bad in another. Pillows in one room were great, not as good in the others. The duvets do NOT stay in the covers and slide all over the place. Also to note: lots of sports teams stay on the weekend for tournaments - your experience may vary based on the behavior of other guests. We would definitely stay again, with some hesitation of what kind of bed we're going to get. read more

Upon arrival, the lady at the front desk was pretty rude. The first thing she said to me (in a very stern voice and pointing at my service dog) was, "you're going to be charged $75." I asked, "for a service animal?" She replied (still in a snooty voice), "is it an emotional support animal?" I said, "no, she is a trained service animal." Then she proceeded to make me fill out a form saying I would be charged $75 for an animal. I wrote "service animal" on the form. We then proceeded to our room, which we paid double the price for because we did an upgrade to a suit, and it smelled like a retirement home or a church (old musty smell). My wife wanted to relax in a bath, and there was a roach already relaxing on the bathtub (picture attached). I went to take a shower and it was full of mold and mildew (picture attached). Definitely not worth what we spent. I would expect this kind of thing from a motel 6, not a Hilton. This is the second Hilton hotel with horrible service. Friendly front desk staff, and ok rooms. The tv's are fuzzy and have like 3 channels. The hotel is under renovation so all of the other amenities of a hotel are unavailable at the moment, however it doesn't really effect the main aspects that i look for. Main things are: Cleanliness is good Amenities is ok, like i said the tv is fuzzy and has 3 channels and the bed is also ok, a little too hard but will do for one night. I do like that there is a fridge & microwave in the room though. Also the soap provided is not good at all so make sure to bring your own. read more

Upon arrival the desk clerk was on the phone . When she got off the phone the first thing she said was " if you're trying to check in we don't have anything available right now" no hello how are you doing . Once checked in the bedspread had what appeared to be dried blood all over the top where it folds down. Our room was not cleaned or restocked the entire stay (3 days). When called for towels they told us we had to come down and get them ourself. Even saw a grandmother and grandchild in pajamas downstairs getting towels. Trash in hallways continued to overflow and was there the entire stay . Overall attitude of employees was unfriendly, unwelcoming and just flat out didn't give a crap . This hotel does NOT care about the guest experience . There is no rom service - you have to go down and get it. I will say the bartender brought our food to us because it wasn't busy . Do NOT recommend. Stay at your own risk as you are completely on your own !!! read more

Looking around the place seems to be clean and organize it very well lit with the light outside I love the made to order breakfast But I checked in at the Hilton as my father travels for business decides to tag me along diamond member very well quality service good at the front desk and the rest of the staff I give my respect to housekeeping they do a wonderful job and making sure the place is clean Love the swim pool where as it was warm instead cold witch was excellent to experience to enjoy at an indoor pool And the Hot tub it was a perfect gift to myself at the end of the night I'm definitely coming back to the Hilton's again And always tip the cooks at breakfast read more

This is one of two Hilton Garden Inns I've stayed at in the past year. They are nice properties, just a shade better than Marriott Courtyard for about the same price. This one happens to be brand new, so everything was particularly clean and fresh. I was only here one night, but I found the place comfortable and convenient. I'll probably stay here next time I'm back in East TX. FYI-Internet and parking is free, but breakfast is an additional charge. read more

Garden Inns are starting to grow on me. Wasn't impressed with the one I stayed at in Corpus Christi, but after a few more experiences, they're growing on me. I've stayed at several hotels in Tyler now, and this has become my favorite. Comfy beds, efficient & friendly service. The restaurant is actually quite decent (though there are lots of good places to eat in town.) WiFi is free & easy, breakfast buffet is like $10.95 (I didn't try it, not much of a breakfast guy.) Hotel was clean and staff very personable from checking in to breakfast staff. Was able to check in on time just after 3pm with no problems. WiFi worked great in the room as had several business calls/meeting and had not interruptions on service. Showers may be a little "tight" but no issues during my stay. Excellent location! Within walking distance to Walmart and Target to buy your essentials and whatnot, as well as restaurants and other food joints. There's a trail right out back which is great for morning runs or evening walks. Lots of parking space and no extra fees to park your car during your stay. Rooms are clean and spacious. My sink has clogged a few times for which I've had to call the front desk but they've resolved my issue promptly. Staff is super nice and friendly. They only have one washer and dryer. Yes, just one of each-- they're coin-operated and are pretty old too but still work ok. But if the hotel has lots of guests staying multiple nights when you are too, good luck getting in line to do some laundry. Even with Covid-19, they're still gracious in preparing grab & go breakfast bags for guests in the mornings. read more

I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks when traveling for work. Housekeeping would pound on the door even when the do not disturb sign was on. The mini fridge in the room froze everything, and when the temperature was turned down the slightest bit, it would shut the entire fridge off and everything would warm all the way up. 90% of the towels had stains on them, even when I asked for new ones. The walls are so thin you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms next to you and the hallway. If you don't hold the door the entire time it's closing, it will slam and literally rattle the walls. At the time of my stay, the freeze had just occurred in East Texas. There were 2 elevators and 1 was out of service the entire time I stayed there. The lobby area was under construction the entire time and when I initially walked in, I couldn't hear the receptionist and she could hear me without us yelling due to the large fans airing out the floors. They should have just closed the hotel when this happened. The bar was closed and the breakfast/dining area was closed due to the pandemic, but none of this was advertised online prior to my arrival. The pool was also drained and under construction the entire time of my stay. The gym has mold growing on the ceiling and half the equipment in the gym doesn't work. The washer and dryer were pretty old and when my clothes were finished in the dryer, they had a weird smell to them, even with the use of dryer sheets. A few perks of the hotel: there is a lovely trail directly behind the hotel for running/walking, The receptionists are very friendly, they offer free water bottles to guests, and the hotel looks newly renovated besides the construction in the lobby. read more

We have stayed at this Hotel many times over the last 10 years, and the quality has really gone down. - Room: very dark especially the bathroom which has one dim overhead light with no lighting around the mirror- impossible to see yourself to put on make-up or shave, etc. Also no fan in the bathroom, very stuffy. - Hotel itself- carpets are getting very old, stained and a little gross. Furniture in rooms getting very old and worn. The hide-a-bed was broken, horrible to sleep on and the upholstery was ripped. - Staffing- while restaurant staff was very kind- they were very understaffed. I appreciate getting free breakfast because there was so much chaos- but it should not be this hard on the staff. We also had NO maid service over 3 days. We were told there would be no service on Thanksgiving unless requested- but no service the next day and no toilet paper was very annoying. Our stay was extremely disappointing. Worst experience ever. I called ahead of time asking if they had a pool and hot tub, then after they confirmed they had a pool and hot tub I reserved the room. I got to the room that night and asked if the pool was still open... the receptionist said they closed it due to renovations. Which would have been nice to know ahead of time because I wouldn't have paid $112 to stay there, I would have gone to the Fairfield hotel who's pool actually was open and was only $79. AND you would think when I called ahead of time, obviously interested in the pool that they would have let me know it's closed. Will not be returning. read more

Hilton Honors Member Reviewing Booked 4 hotel rooms for some guests of ours staying in town. We had a lot of children with us, so keeping everyone close together was essential. We booked this out about 2 months in advance, and worked locally in person with the manager of the hotel. She did an outstanding job! When I arrived this past weekend, check-in was prompt and courteous. We were offered drinks (water or soda) and they took care of everything. We had two suites and then two regular adjoining rooms. The rooms were clean and very spacious. The suite has two TVs, one in the main living area and one in the master bedroom. The beds were a little hard, and is the only reason for not getting a full five star review. The sink area in the suite was spacious, and I really liked the Keurig coffee pots in the room. Too often, you get a crappy coffee pot with crappy tea and coffee, but this place had quality stuff. The refrigerators kept things nice and cold. Bathrooms in the suites are amazing! The master bath is almost as big as the bedroom itself. Showers are walk-in and there is a separate Jacuzzi tub if that is more your thing. One thing I really liked about this hotel is that all towels are top quality! They are super thick and soft, and most definitely not those paper-thin kind like you get from other places. Now onto Customer Service The service in this place was top-notch! When I arrived, I immediately saw we were going to need more towels. I called the front desk and literally within a couple of minutes, I had a housekeeper at the door with a massive stack of towels. I've NEVER seen a response from housekeeping in any hotel I've been in like this, and I have stayed on Disney properties, and in the Gaylord Hotels. Front desk again was very friendly. The restaurant was extremely surprising. I was at first a bit miffed that breakfast was not included, but I got over that when the manager saw the size of my group, and sensing an opportunity to impress, made us a phenomenal deal on our entire party of nearly 20 people. The food was great, and very filling. I really liked how I could order an omelette the way I wanted, and that even though this was a buffet breakfast, they had wait staff bring us food to our table. I was able to visit more with my wife and guests while my waffles were still in the iron. Hilton Garden Inn of Tyler is what I expect out of any Hilton Property. That is, first class service and an experience to never forget. My daughter had some overnight guests in town for her 13 birthday, and she and her guests had a fantastic time. Highly recommend for anyone having guests in town, or, if you just wanted to get away for a local vacation. read more

We stayed the night here and were very impressed with the rooms. Loved the turquoise and taupe accent walls with the dark furniture. The bed was comfortable but needed more pillows and when we called and asked for more no one ever showed up. Can't say much about the food since we only ordered a shrimp cocktail from room service. We enjoyed using the indoor pool and jacuzzi and had an adequate fitness center right next to it. All in all I would definitely stay here again. read more

I'm not an expert on Tyler hotels other than the Hampton Inn in town. I would guess this is one of the best if not the best hotel in Tyler. This is a newer property and was very clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel wasn't a problem for me but it would be a little bit of a drive to the medical district which I know brings a lot of people to Tyler. read more

Newer HGI in a nice part of Tyler, right off a restaurant row. Warmly greeted by staff and my complimentary water bottles. Room on first floor but away from indoor pool and elevators so not overly noisy. Keurig coffee maker in the room which I prefer for ease of use, microwave and fridge in working order. Bed and room clean and comfortable and bathroom looked good. Went out to dinner and when returned, bar was open and the cookies were out. Bartender was very friendly and talked Final Four. Only negative was the door to the room, it left a couple inch gap at the bottom and let the light from the hallway clearly in the room. I fixed it by propping bathroom door open in front of it, but was a bit annoying but not any kind of deal breaker. I love staying in this new property whenever I'm in Tyler. The hotel is very clean and modern. The rooms are incredibly spacious and the beds are so comfortable you're sure to get a good nights sleep. Internet is free but you have to pay for the breakfast buffet which was $10.95 when I was there. My only negative is the bathroom door automatically shuts so it can get warm in there after a shower. This hotel is also conveniently located near restaurants and shopping but not within walking distance. read more

Let's start off by saying, I have traveled a lot & through out the world. This hotel I have stayed before. Location is good. Not a lot of heavy traffic, so it is nice & quiet. Size, not too big where you have to walk a lot to get to your room. Cleanliness never a problem. Bathroom & bedroom always seems sanitized & to my likeliness. Breakfast. I can say is great! I recommend the fresh eggs to your yok likes. The cereal, fruit, bread bar is great. The customer service is great! Always a smile at the front desk. This really is as good as it gets for business travel. I travel more than a little for work and have for many years. Quite the veteran of the business-traveler hotels with the breakfast bar, etc. Pluses for the Hilton Garden Inn: + Quiet: off the road and most rooms are situated toward the open space/tree line. + Pool, Hot Tub and Exercise Center are all available, and away from the lobby, so you can sneak there and back in shorts/swimsuit and not feel like a slob. + Excellent grill/restaurant with room service. More than the usual faire, and they have nightly specials, many are off-menu items, increasing variety + Good breakfast options: Better than most hotels' free continentals. And the grill is open if you want to order something on the menu for breakfast. Never disappointed. + Hotel Bar. This is a +++ in my book. Full bar with tables,TV's, etc., and full line of alcoholic drinks, all modestly priced. This means I may have have a beer (or two) without breaking the bank - and without having to drive *back* to the hotel from somewhere --- and I don't have to buy a six-pack and drink it in my room. Totally makes it a cool hang-out in the evenings, when I don't want to be in my room yet don't want to 'go' out on the town. + Close (walking distance) to real restaurants and bars -- for those times I *do* want to get a bit away and still not drive. + Right next to a great open space with a massively nice and long bike/hiking path. + Free covered parking. In case that's important, like in the hot summer. + Plenty of really nice indoor and outdoor sitting areas, for being alone/yet not alone, small groups, or just hanging out to meet new people. There's patios all over, some covered, a gazebo, many indoor sitting areas, it's really amazing how many spots there are just to sit and visit. + Ice machines with actual ice in them. Seriously, most business-traveler-oriented hotels are all about low cost and minimal frills. They're depressing, anti-social, and make me want to cry and run away. This place is actually a cool hang-out. I actually want to hang out in the lobby or the garden area and do work/snack/drink/socialize. I've spent the equivalent of a month of days here in the past six months, and expect to be in Tyler much more this year. This is definitely my go-to place to stay. I was pretty excited to book the HIlton Garden Inn after many visits to Tyler and the recommendation of a friend. This trip was for fun rather than business and my boyfriend and I wanted something a little nicer so I splurged for a newer (and supposedly nicer) hotel. Booking a room online seemed easy, but when it didn't offer me the military discounts, I called to speak with the front desk. I was surprised when she told me that they couldn't honor the discount because they'd already reached their limit for the month. I am not a veteran, my daddy is, so I didn't take it too personally. But I did think of those veterans who may not have been able to receive the discount - kind of crappy. She didn't offer another option so I decided to go ahead and book without the discounted rate. Looking back, $150 was a little steep for an average hotel room. And no breakfast. When we arrived, everything was just about as we expected it to be. We spent some time in the room before heading out for shopping and dinner and I was thankful for a comfy bed when we returned late that night. Overall, this place isn't anything spectacular and I think I'd rather continue to book at the Holiday Inn Express in the future. read more

Check-in 9/20/15 check out 9/21/15. Driving up, the outside looks great! Building is nice, parking lot is clean, and there is plenty of parking. Walked into the lobby and it was very clean. The furniture is up-to-date. The coffee and water was to left and readily available. There was a group of us checking with several room assignments and they were prepared. Pre-staged everything so check-in was a breeze. The room was on spot! The room was VERY clean and organized. Walked in to nicely made beds, Keurig and microwave. Minifridge and nice television. The bathroom is spot less. The towels nicely folded and accessible. With technology overtaking society, there were plenty of charge portals for everything needed. The WiFi worked like a champ. I did not use the coffee but it was good to see a Keurig versus a coffee pot. Even though I am more of a 3-4 cup of coffee type of guy versus singles. Either way, not an issue at all. Very minor deal. I did not eat the breakfast. I did not use room service. I did have to sit in the hallway and do some schoolwork as my roommate slept. There are plugs in the hallway. I was able to charge my laptop as I used my laptop! The housekeeping staff was very polite and energetic. I was kind of in the way, I did move so they could get by, and not one member complained to me or said a word. The hallway, the walls, the floor lobby, elevators, everything was absolutely spot less! A very clean hotel. Every time a staff member seen someone they welcomed them or asked how they were doing. Overall a very pleasant stay. I would definitely give a recommendation. Great place to be. The room was provided by a third party so I cannot vouch for price or price of room versus worth of stay. If I was a gambling man, I would say that it is worth it. OK, i made a mistake when i left my toilet bag in the room. Living only 110 miles away, i drove back to get it after I was told that it was found. After getting there and inspecting my bag for the contents, i found that my beard trimmer....an expensive beard trimmer, was missing. I have now called back 3 times to inquire about this and the responses i get " i will text my manager to get back with you". Little did i know I made another mistake...booking this Hilton Garden Inn for a one night stay.
