I stayed here when they first opened in 2016 I think and it's now gone way downhill. I got there early on Saturday at 2pm and the young lady at the front desk just should not be in the hospitality industry. Not personable. Not friendly. No hello how are you. Nothing. I asked at 2:00 if I could check in a bit early and she said not yet and walked off. The evening man was super friendly and outgoing. I really liked him! Very accommodating. The rooms: I still love all the room and layout, but I guess 10 years will wear it down. The carpet was sticky and had crumbs near the table. The tiles were so greasy I almost slipped. The bathroom grout in the shower is molded and needs attention. Very damp musty smell throughout the room. I will say this place is clean. Great location. You can shop and eat while walking. Redo the bathrooms and hire friendly front desk people. Maybe change or deep clean the carpets. Yuk. Last but not least.. please put the complimentary iced water pitcher back in the breakfast lineup. Location is great for this hotel. It's tucked in the back of a large shopping center so you have a bunch of shops to browse or pick up something you forgot to pack. Also a good amount of food options, though mostly all chains. The staff was friendly but the hallway (at least on the 4th floor), smelled like cigarette smoke...so much so that I did a double take to check that the rooms were non-smoking. Other than that the hotel seemed clean and the shower water pressure was A++. read more

Informed the desk staff and was told the same thing, that they would let the housekeeping supervisor know. I picked a specific room the day before check-in. I arrived to the hotel at 12:30pm on a Saturday just to check to see if anything was ready. They never asked my name or anything and told me nothing was available. That's fine, got it. I guess they couldn't finish cleaning not one single room an hour and a half after check out. I came back 45 minutes after the check in time (3:45pm) and was told my room was still not ready. After finding out they have poor communication between the employees, my room has been ready. I stayed on the first floor. I go to bed early and wake up real early every day. There were kids running up and down the halls yelling and screaming. I called the front desk and they said they don't do anything because it's the weekend and they have til 11pm to do whatever they want. I asked if they could just stop running up and down the halls and stay in the lobby or go outside. Once again he told me they wont do anything til 11pm. And the rooms are worn out and trash. My son and I stayed here last night. What a huge disappointment! I made a list of complaints. It's probably not a complete list. It was more like a cheap motel than a 3 star hotel! Hotel complaints: Room smelled weird Water was extremely hard and smelled like dirt Beds were very hard and horribly uncomfortable. Our room smelled like a dog kennel. Wash your dog people! I reported the problem to the lady at the front desk and got a half hearted apology. I recommended they dedicate one floor to the pet owners, she said it will never happen, the entire place has been touched by dogs! The rooms are carpeted! They should have to shampoo after every pet stay! No sleep because of the smell, not happy! read more

We checked in to the hotel after 6pm. There was a car parked in the covered area/loading/unloading zone, with a lady sitting inside the car while on the phone. We came in inside to check in, the lady got out of the car and walked in behind us and said I'll be right with you. She continued to walk behind the desk area. She wasn't friendly. We checked in went on to our room which we upgraded to a larger room for a little extra money. Later, we left to have dinner. Same lady was inside her car again. I think she was smoking. Once we returned from dinner, we saw her in her car AGAIN, on the phone. We stopped by the desk to get an extra key for me. We stood waiting for her to get out of the car and help us. We thought it was quite inappropriate and unprofessional of her. The next morning, we were awaken by several loud men talking and laughing. My husband looked out our door to find several men unloading Sheetrock and supplies for the hotel. They had the side exit door opening and closing.... Then, leaving the door open. My husband went to get coffee since we were tired from our long drive. My husband mentioned the noise from our room. The desk clerk snapped at my husband and said, "well, we are under construction!" My husband replied, "this information would have been nice to know BEFORE we paid extra for an upgraded larger room or you could have put us on a different floor." Knowing we are not from Tyler, how would we know when construction crews would be working in our hallway - directly across the hall! In addition, no breakfast due to the construction which was not a big deal, but she didn't mention construction. Just unprofessional all the way around. read more

This place needs some serious maintenance in the room I was In at least. The bathroom counter was loose and coming off the wall. That was not just old grout in the pic. What is up with the AC not going below 70 degrees. I like it cool when I sleep. There was a cracked tile and the numbers were coming off the elevator panel. The place has potential. Very nice and comfortable hotel at a reasonable price point. I took one star off because I was surprised our king suite has a broken closet mirror and that the guest services area didn't keep hot coffee/hot water (both were there but were tepid). Otherwise the hotel is located in a shopping center, but is exceptionally quiet. The conference space worked well for our family reunion and the breakfast spread was yummy. read more

We stayed here again -- and were recognized again at check-in, this time by Sarah! That is such a good feeling, especially since we don't stay there on a regular basis. This time we had breakfast, and to be honest I'd take off half a star (not a whole star because I don't associate Hampton Inns with outstanding breakfasts). They had both red velvet and regular make-it-yourself waffles, a definite plus. On the other hand, we got there at 9:30 (it closes at 10) and they were out of milk and didn't resupply. There were apples but no bananas. I think we'll hit The Diner for breakfast next time instead. We were able to reserve a handicapped room with a walk-in shower--room 414 this time--at the same price as a regular room. (The Hilton on Golden Road in Tyler, by contrast, offered only one handicapped room with shower on the website for 67,000 points--more than twice the cost of a regular room!) Room 414 also had a mini fridge and microwave and the TV worked without issues. Looking forward to staying here again in the future! read more

We had a wedding to attend on Tyler and we found a hours deal on Hotels.com, so we booked here. The property is located on a main street with lots of businesses and some places to eat nearby. The check in was quick and easy, even before the usual 3 pm time. The parking lot was convenient and there were a few luggage carts in the front so getting our luggage up was ready too. The hotel looks nice inside and out. It smells clean and the room was a typical Hampton room. Nice bed, walk in shower, nice big TV (not ALL the channels). Free breakfast (we didn't eat it, there's a local breakfast spot called The Diner that is really good just down the street). It was only one night, but we would consider staying here again If we needed to come back to Tyler. read more

I'd like to preface this review and say, if COVID isn't "real" and wearing masks is an "infringement" on your civil liberties; ignore this. I had to make an emergency trip to Tyler from a larger city in Texas and when I walked in I was shocked to see the amount of people down in the lobby without masks on, including all of the staff. As I walked in with my mask I stared at the lady in somewhat shock and she pulled her mask up to sort of cover her mouth. I went down the next morning and saw most if not all patrons downstairs without masks on and overheard the employee laughing at having to wear them with a pilot from NetJets. Later that day I met 'CeCe' another non-mask wearing employee that was a housekeeper that was walking around the hotel. To some, this isn't a big deal and all and I'd be classified as a "Crying Liberal" but for the person that is looking for a hotel that is COVID safe, this IS NOT the location for you. I have another week in Tyler and have moved to a different hotel chain altogether. If you're in the mood for an older, safe hotel check out the Best Western on Broadway across from Best Buy. It's older, half the price and twice as safe and has a great staff. It's a shame, the hotel is new/nice, in a great area (hence the 2nd star) but the health risk of no one wearing masks and no enforcement makes this a non-starter. read more

Check in was nice and easy. The hotel was nice. We stayed 2 nights. We left at about 9:45 am on Saturday and came back about 11pm and noticed that our room hadn't been cleaned. Our bed wasn't made and we didnt have clean towels but we noticed that they did enter to turn off the ac. Not sure why. read more

TLDR: Great Staff, Unsafe, and Poor Property Maintenance, Poor Corporate Resolution We really wanted to like this place. It was close to family and in the middle of a shopping center where it was easy to access. Unfortunately, it makes it even harder to give a good review. Upon arrival, check in was wonderful. The front office staff was helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Our room however was less than superior as I have come to know from Hilton properties. Our room had high ceilings and little was done to prevent echo. Our A/C for the unit made so much noise. The bathroom was the biggest issue. The toilet handle would get stuck where we would have to jiggle it to close or it would let water just run through it attempting to refill it, but since it wouldn't close....we'll you get it. Then the door to the shower/toilet wouldn't close because the door was crooked on its hinges. They room had a "sliding door" with a track that should have moved, and you guessed it... it didn't. The shower looked like it needed to be extensively bleached and re-caulked. This doesn't even cover our security issue. When we arrived, all alternate arrival doors were out of service. This adds to the fact that when we arrived back from our family's house, the battery or something had died to access our room! All of our stuff was stuck in the room and we were exhausted after driving 4 hours from Austin. The front office staff once again was wonderful and did literally everything they could think of to access our room in a normal way. They called anyone who might be able to help and got only 1 response. They used a portal charge pack to no avail. Finally, after sitting in the hallway for 30 min, the room was open using a crow bar. Yes, you read that right... a crow bar. The front office was able to open my room using a crowbar. Now, I don't know about you... but that makes me uneasy. That means any person who owns a crowbar can walk into the property, and pop open any room that didn't have a deadbolt or additional inside security measure in place. So when you leave, all of your stuff is free for the taking. That night my husband and I were so tired we just "tried" to go to bed. I felt very unsafe in the room that night. Moving hotels was not an option as we had an early 4 hour drive the next day. Within the next week, I attempted to contact corporate as this is a clear issue of poor maintenance and not the front desks fault. Big surprise, it was almost impossible to find someone who was capable of taking my complaint. I called three different numbers. Finally, a person transferred me to a supervisor because their system would not let them open a case number. 2 days later, the companies "resolution" was to give me an apology and some rewards points for the inconvenience. Then they said the security had to be handled at a site level and they transferred it to them. Not a resolution at all. They essentially passed the buck. My concern is for the little person/family who is visiting, who comes back to their hotel room to find their privacy has been violated and their room has been ransacked. That could be anyone who stays at this location. This is the last time I will stay at a Hilton property and will ensure the others that visit my family know what places to avoid. read more

First time staying here.. staff is friendly It's a quiet clean place the rooms are pretty clean the only complaint would be the couches and carpets need a good cleaning the couches were stained carpets looks a bit dirty also the shower need a bit of care with the cracks in shower other than that it's open concept and light inside would stay here again. read more

When we arrived the staff was overwhelmed by a new system and over half of the rooms had not been cleaned from the previous occupant. I blame management for not properly training the staff on their new system and not having staffed enough maintenance and cleaning employees. At one point a front desk employee had to literally hold back her peer from going after a guest. Wrapped-up another 3 night stay recently... and things haven't improved much. I was also here in March, and things seemed much better... so I had high hopes someone was starting to pay attention. Alas that is not the case... The only reason the weeds were gone in March, was because it wasn't spring yet. The weeds are BACK with abundance. A few things continue to decline... - more mildew in the shower - this time, there was quite a bit of hair too - carpets are terribly dirty (didn't hear one vacuum cleaner in 3 days) - construction defects are starting to show (like gaps where ceiling/wall meets, and plumbing fixtures - lamps disappearing? This is the 2nd time this year that I noticed the corner light fixture had vanished - and WEEDS. Can I repeat it again? WEEDS. Just like I've reported to Hilton directly... whomever is doing the exterior maintenance of this place needs to be replaced. Hey Hilton! This property isn't doing your brand any favors. That said... neither is the Hilton Garden Inn (issues there too). And Courtyard isn't an option either. Not sure what the deal is with hotels in Tyler. If rates need to go up in order to pay people better, so that guests can have CLEAN rooms, then please raise those rates! read more

Hampton Inn is my family's go to spot on trips. We have traveled to a few during COVID and had no issues outside traveling during the pandemic. This time was sadly different. We arrived at the front desk. We waited 30 minutes before the staff arrived. She said she'd been listening to music. Off to a great start. We were given a room that had a seal saying it was cleaned. It was not. We could tell by the smell. Toilet paper was almost out. No extra roll in the room. And to top it off, the sink was clogged. We called the front desk to change rooms and she offered to "fix it". We convinced her that was not an option. In addition, we witnessed 2 guests and 1 staff not wearing masks inside the facility. Nothing was said to them. As both were by the coffee bar, I decided to use the in room coffee maker instead. Maybe they will get their act together but I'd wait to visit until after the pandemic if I were you. read more

I would have give them another star if the breakfast was better. My suggestion for that would be plain eggs...no salsa or cheese added. I know they are premade but an option of eggs that are free of additives would be awesome. Not everyone likes all that in or on their eggs. If you do, they have sides of salsa and cheese. Some of us can't eat cheese. I'm also aware that they offer hardboiled...but not the same as scrambled eggs. All three days here there was cheese in or on the eggs. I was at a band organization event at my daughter's high school and won an auction item for a free weekend stay at Hampton Inn and Suites Tyler South. I have repeatedly emailed and phoned to get a hold of someone to set this up. The contact that is on the paper will not email me back or return my phone calls to fulfill their donation to this organization. This my favorite hotel group, the Hilton Family. Apparently this is one of the newest hotels in town. I saw that advertised somewhere. Is a bit hidden off Broadway at South end of shopping mall. Part of that probly Apple Maps guidance however!! Everything just right here for my likes. Bedside electric outlets on the lamp table between beds. Perfect. Nice iron and board, tv and internet very good, always clean and comfy bedding and other usual amenities. I am in a top floor room, which I actually prefer. They seem more quiet and less likely to hear anything outside the room. All too often, someone tromping around in rooms above. Not sure what is going on. Prepping for a parade march or ?...!!! Anyway, I really like this room. Is south side of Tyler and about 15 miles from the airport where I am parked with Merlin ship. read more

I have been '72 hours' away from my refund for 3 weeks! Talked to the local hotel twice, and Hilton twice. They are very quick to take money, but not so quick to refund. Stayed there from Thursday July 15th to Friday July 16th. First our room was completely wrong we asked for two queen beds, when we arrived we were told they only had 1 king bed and a pullout couch as they were "booked" for a festival. I personally live in Tyler, and my family was from out of town, it was a Thursday the hotel was dead so I don't understand how they couldn't find an open room. The jacuzzi was out of order, the pool water was foggy and had bugs, and the outdoor bathroom was disgusting like no employees ever clean it. Woke up at 7:45 am for the continental breakfast which was utterly pathetic, I understand with COVID they can't do as much, but the choices were so limited. They served 1 cold hard boiled egg, some bagels, 3 rotten bananas and some apples. The lady who worked breakfast set out mini cereal boxes, and a gallon of milk at 9:30 when breakfast ends at 10. I don't understand why she waited so long. We also called for clean towels to shower and they never showed up until 30 minutes later with 2 towels, there were 4 of us. There was also another lady cleaning tables while we ate, and when my Grandma got up to make a box of food for my aunt the women made a remark saying "guess I'm cleaning up after you" when my grandmother was waiting at the toaster for a bagel. Then she asked my grandmother if she worked at the hotel and asked how much she got paid, I assume since they all have no specific uniform she just assumed she worked there. Overall, the stay was quiet, but definitely will not be back. read more

Nice new property and the rates are good-for now. As it gets busier it will get more expensive. This is my 3rd or 4th time here. It is in a fairly remote location but anchored in a cool up-and-coming shopping area with restaurants, shopping and a Studio Movie Grill within an easy walk. Nice rooms with USB chsrging, nice large Samsung flat-panel TV'S and good channel selection. The premium wifi was giving me trouble tonite when I was trying to stream Netflix. The free Internet I get as a Hilton HHONORS Gold member worked better last time. Lindsey at the front desk is friendly & cool. She remembers me when I check in They also have free beer/wine and lite snacks from 5-7, which is great. My favorite place in Tyler when I overnight. read more

Praise the Lord for this new Hampton Inn! I stay in Tyler fairly often for work and I like to stay at Hilton properties for the points. Until this location opened up my two options were the OLD, dark Hampton Inn or the nice, newer Hilton Garden Inn. The Hilton Garden Inn is sometimes out of my work budget so I end up at the OLD, dark Hampton Inn across town. I didn't even know about this new location until I was recently booking at room for a night in Tyler. This place is NICE! I stay at 20 or 30 different Hampton Inns throughout a given year due to work travel and this is by far the nicest one I've been to so far. The place is really bright, spacious and really clean. They even had a beer, wine and cheese happy hour which many Hamptons do not have. I will definitely be staying here in the future for sure. The only complaint about this Hampton Inn is the location. It's a little further out to the edge of town BUT it is Tyler and Tyler is tiny so it's really not a big deal. read more

This hotel was amazing to us. We are a Speech and debate team. We needed 10 rooms to compete in our national tournaments for a week. This hotel "adopted" us for a week and took care of our every need. They make sure the wifi worked for 10 people competing virtually. They gave us a social distanced place to have our meals together. The manager was amazing and did everything he promised us. The hotel front desk staff really looked after us--not just doing their jobs. Location is amazing and everything was within walking distance at the mall. House keeping was wonderful. They kept track of competition scheduled and never interrupted someone during a Zoom time. Just book this hotel--they will treat you like family. Walk to 10 close restaurants and even a movie theatre. Make your life easy and stay here. Thanks again Hampton Inn and Suites! read more

This past week was my final stay at this Hampton inn. The property is relatively new and beautiful, (this is the reason for 2-stars) but it is rapidly declining in cleanliness and maintenance. For four days, the area in front of my door in the hallway had crumbled potato chips on the carpet, housekeeping staff did not even try to vacuum it up. The trash cans in my room weren't dumped until my last night there. The base of the shower had a large damaged area and the area around the shower door tracks had a lot of mildew so when you turned on the shower, the smell was disgusting. It's very sad to see such a beautiful property go down the drain so fast. The last year it has declined rapidly and it hasn't even been opened that long! The housekeeping staff need to be retrained or replaced. Same with maintenance. read more

This is a poorly managed hampton have stayed at many other Hilton hotels with pleasurable experiences but this Hampton was a horrible experience. Staff is incredible rude and disorganized. Huge wasp nest forming outside the hotel near front door I informed the staff at front desk she rolled her eyes and said isn't that great. They are just unprofessional, stay somewhere else in Tyler! I always enjoy the Hilton garden inn in Tyler but the rate on it this trip was 214 compared to 120 here. This was a no brainer and only a few miles less convenient, but in a large new shopping center with lots of stores. read more

I many Hampton Inns over the years but this Hampton Inn in Tyler Texas did not meet my expectations. The air conditioner in the room did not work well, the the walls were so thin that I could hear the people in the Next Room snoring. I went down to the desk and ask that my room be changed which they did. I was given keys to another room, the air conditioning did not work probably in that room and also there were not enough towels for one person. So I decided to check out after that night. I don't think I'll be going back to Hampton Inn ever again. read more

I wanted to pass along my complete satisfaction with the customer service I received from this location. A couple of weeks back, I mistakenly booked my stay here. I booked for the day before I was supposed to arrive by accident, called in, and they explained that there would be no worry and they'd book me for the following night and not charge me for 2 nights. I was very thankful for this. The following day, I arrived and I was satisfied with check-in, my room, location, etc. After eating dinner, I received a phone call from my wife explaining that she had to have emergency surgery, 30 minutes after our phone call concluded, to have her appendix removed. I returned to the hotel, apologized for yet another mishap and they agreed to let me checkout and be free from any charges. I did return late that night after the surgery was complete and all was well. I returned to Tyler 2 weeks after my original booking and booked again at this Hampton Inn because of how I was treated and the stay was great. This location's staff went above and beyond and for that, I wanted to pass along my satisfaction and positive experience. I will be staying with them again if I find myself in Tyler again for work. read more

I booked through Booking.com and of course used my debit card to hold the room. When I checked in I paid cash for the entire stay. The lady checking me in said they needed to keep the card on file for incidentals, which I know is commonplace. No issues so far. When I checked out, I notice a pre-authorization for the full amount I had already paid. I asked the clerk about it and she said it would come off as soon as we completed checkout. Not only did the charge not come off, it went through and debited my account for the full amount. I called the property and was told that yes it was a mistake and they would issue a refund that would take 3-5 days. I requested to speak to the general manager, was told they would call me and here we are 6 days later with no refund and no phone call. I understand mistakes happen in the service business. The issue I have is the recovery plan is sorely lacking. I expect better from a Hilton property than this. read more
