The welcoming staff not only created an, inviting experience, but provided helping assistance along the way. I would highly recommend staying here again. Beautiful hotel on the water in the heart of downtown. It has a restaurant named Audrey in it (see review), and a bar that's open for Happy Hour. Clean rooms and hallways pretty noisy between housekeepers and guests in the halls slamming doors. read more

Best hotel for Ironman Wisconsin / Wisconsin 70.3. Right at the swim start, transition and finish line. Super clean, restaurant in house (you can order a breakfast package) and parking on site. Also a free shuttle for the airport. They have lots of recommendations since it was our first time and we had a little one. read more

Temps in WI were in the single digits this week so the complimentary hot chocolate in the lobby was definitely necessary. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. There is parking on site and my room had the best view of the Wisconsin State Capitol. Oh and the double headed shower head made it difficult to get out of the shower. read more

There is very good and there is not so good with this stay. Long review but worth it. We are Diamond level so we know Hilton, this was a staycation because the first outdoor farmers market was this weekend. First issue, On the Hilton app there is an option to digitally check in, however my app showed our room as a smoking room. Now I know smoking is not in hotels but it was still on the room listed so I wanted to check in at the front desk and ask about it. The girl who checked us in was amazing her name was Bridget, she was very nice & wanted to show this room situation to the Manager. We waited for the Manager to be available & when we showed her ( I believe her name was Sylvia) she was dismissive & couldn't be bothered. Basically saying the app is wrong. Okay, then we get to our room. Presidential Suite, nice room on the Executive Lounge (EL) floor which was perfect for us to enjoy as well. We went to the EL once we dropped our bags in the room. Donte was the host in the EL & he was the kindest employee!! We enjoyed chatting with him and the appetizers they had were perfect, and of course the view! We went back to our room & wanted to order room service. There is a QR code on the lamp in the room to scan and get room service menu, however the TV also had a room service menu and both are different , with different options. So we tried to call room service & the phones in the room didn't work & when we finally got through to an automated system and went through the prompts we were disconnected twice. So I went to the app & used the chat service & was told the restaurant would call us in our room within a few minutes. Upon finally being able to speak with someone we explained there are two menus and neither are the same. We were told that the QR code menu is the correct one and that they are working on trying to get the TV menu updated, okay. Food ordered and brought by a nice person. Food, was not excellent but not the worst. The fish was either boiled or not cooked properly so it was mushy in the middle, the pretzel bites where good, the BBQ bacon apps are not worth the $$, but the salad was very good. The Cole Slaw was the one item that was absolutely delicious! Next morning we look on the Hilton app to see what time EL starts breakfast & it shows only serving Tuesday through Friday 6:30 am -9:30am & evening 5:00pm-7:00. But we knew it was serving breakfast because we asked the night before. The breakfast was good and a nice selection. Honestly both evening reception appetizers and breakfast are far better than the room service food. We enjoyed the farmers market & and then went back to check out. Upon check out I wanted to make sure that we received our benefits food & beverage credit of $15, per guest, so $30 and it is on the Hilton app. The girl named Charlie said that we don't get that credit because they have the EL now. I showed her it was on the Hilton app & she engaged the Manager , Jolene ( sorry if named is spelled wrong). But she was amazing & was very interested in the Hilton app being full of wrong information & took screenshots of all the inaccuracies. It is a nice hotel for the age of it, the EL is lovely & on the 14th floor & I would recommend it & say hello to Donte for us! I wouldn't recommend the room service though and I hope they correct the Hilton app and get the menus corrected, phones working & better service from the night Manager. This hotel is next to The Madison Club overlooking the lake & honestly should be an elegant, elevated stay and these inaccuracies need to be addressed. Overall, quite a nice hotel in downtown Madison, and conveniently connected to the convention center by a skybridge so we didn't have to go outdoors. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and view of the Capitol building. The hall was quiet and we didn't hear much noise. My boyfriend does so much of the checking in and out now with the app that we only spoke briefly to staff. We did have breakfast and a nightcap at The Audrey, the hotel restaurant named for model Audrey Munson (that's her on top of the state Capitol building). Even here we had limited contact with staff, as our meal was brought out by a robot! Overall, for a convenient location in downtown Madison, I would certainly stay at this hotel again. read more

We came to Madison for a three night visit and decided to stay at this hotel. It was an excellent choice. The downtown location is ideal. We had a corner room on the eighth floor with fantastic views of the Capitol as well as the lake. The room was very comfortable and so was the bed. The lobby is also beautiful. Hilton's Inhumanity Toward Cancer Patients Imagine finishing weeks of grueling radiation treatment, walking into what is supposed to be a world-class hotel for a brief moment of normalcy, only to be denied a simple drink and mocked in the process. That is exactly what happened. Hilton staff showed zero compassion, zero common sense, and zero hospitality. Hilton staff, Sam and Andrew mocked a cancer patient, and Andrew went as far as to stick his tongue out at us (will release security video if can obtain). This is no longer about "policy." It is about basic human decency. A cancer patient, celebrating survival after radiation and attending a wedding, was treated with coldness, disrespect, and outright cruelty by Hilton employees. This is inexcusable. Hospitality is supposed to be about people first, not rigid, tone-deaf rules enforced by staff on a power trip. The lack of empathy was staggering. The guests around us were shocked and disgusted. Worse still, Hilton's management response has not been to apologize or take swift action, but to stall, deflect, and attempt a cover-up. This is why I must warn future guests--especially cancer patients, disabled individuals, and their families--that Hilton is not a safe or compassionate place. If you are fighting for your life or trying to reclaim a piece of normalcy after illness, you deserve respect, not mockery. This Hilton is listed as a 4* property on all the travel websites, but I dunno. It's roughtly the quality of a Hampton Inn, which is typically 3.5*, but I think the location makes up for it. So, the location is just a couple blocks from the capitol building. In fact, on the 11th floor, I have a nice view of it. The other side of the building has a view of Lake Monona, but only if the room is high enough to overlook the Monona Terrace, which is some community center. It's maybe 1.5 miles from the edge of UW. It's walkable, or a five minute drive. The lobby is sort of a living room arrangement. Lots of plush furniture, with a fireplace along the wall. There's a closet sized bar, with a restaurant as well. Nothing fancy, but welcoming. In true UW fashion, they also have work tables, with power outlets. The room looks nice. The decor is tasteful. There's a nice large tv, coffee, and small workdesk. The bathroom is modern marbel and tile. But the linens rubbed me raw! The bedsheets feel like sandpaper, and the towels are small and rough. I'd expect more from a Hilton branded hotel. read more

Here on a business trip. I enjoyed my king bed and the view. The parking structure wasn't too bad, but kind of narrow spaces for a truck. When I laid down for the night, I could hear people as they walked down the hallways. I thought maybe it was a one off, but I heard it pretty much through the night. So if you can't sleep with slight talking noises in the distance, this is not your place. Otherwise, not a bad nights sleep even with the poor insulation. We had bfast right before leaving. I waited a couple of minutes to seat me, and when I was seated, it took quite a bit of time to be waited on. When I was finally waited on, I ordered the pancakes, bacon, hash browns and over easy eggs. When my food came out, my eggs were over cooked, but it took over 5 mins for me to get someone's attention. When I finally did, the ma server took my eggs and it took another 10 mins to get my eggs. By that time, I was done eating and they never brought out my hash browns. Overall, I understand you're probably understaffed, but to take 10 mins for over easy eggs and never bring out my hash browns, not good. Overall, a great stay until I got the opportunity to eat breakfast here. My waiter did take off the eggs and hash browns, but Next time I'll eat breakfast somewhere else. read more

I've been a Hilton loyalist for years. I travel to Madison frequently for work, so I have probably stayed in every Hilton property in the area at some point. Monona Terrace is a tricky one for me. Positives: -I love the location, no question. -The staff is excellent and attentive. Negatives: -Many of the rooms are feeling increasingly outdated. -They remodeled a few years ago and took out their steakhouse, which was a significant loss in my mind, as they had decent food. The replacement food option has more limited hours and it is fundamentally an overpriced fast-casual sandwich/burger joint, which Madison has plenty of already. Then again, they sprang for some overstuffed quilted furniture, so at least you can be comfy while paying too much for your burger. -Finally, the parking garage is an absolute nightmare--tiny spots, tight turns, challenging to navigate, and overpriced. I really wish I could give 1/2 stars, as this feels like a 3 1/2 review to me. That said, given all of the other hotel options near UW and the Capitol, I don't feel I can put Monona in the same category as some of my other 4+* Madison reviews, particularly on a value-for-money basis. read more

I have stayed at a number of Hilton hotels. Apparently the hotel chain is famous for their hard-as-brick beds. Enter Hilton Monona Terrace. The beds are actually comfortable enough to fall asleep on. While my next door neighbor turned up his TV late at night, Khon and Will made sure the guy turned it off. Three out of five nights of some guy named Peter reluctantly not wanting to meet Karen for coffee for some unknown reason got old real quick but was handled just as fast. For that I'm thankful! I was in town for business and had never been to Madison much less any part of Wisconsin. Being from the midwest though, everything about here felt like home. We had a couple hiccups along the way, hilariously starting with the airport shuttle, but they took care of it as fast as they could. I mean variety is the spice of life, right? haha. A part of me felt like I won the lottery. The staff was so helpful I just can't express it enough. Khon, Will, Max and Jade stepped up in so many ways and each person earned their rockstar status. They gave suggestions about food, beer and sightseeing. I took them up on what I could manage after work each day! At the end of my stay I can honestly say I miss it up there and wish everyone all the best. The staff made my first trip to Madison a hit. They did a lot of right things and extended a level of hospitality I had only experienced in Hawaii so a big high five for that! Go check out Hilton Monona Terrace as there is plenty of stuff to do within walking distance! Better yet, take advantage of the shuttle service! Most of all, have fun! read more

The check in process was very straightforward. We had reserved a few rooms, each under a different person, and asked if we could get our rooms close to each other and they were accommodating. Our room was very standard - nothing special. One person in our group got an upgraded room with a couch and pullout bed, so it was nice to have that extra space to hang out as a group. The room came with Peter Thomas Roth products (shampoo, conditioner, body lotion) and I was really excited that it had a higher quality brand. I have never tried PTR products but I was disappointed. The lotion was very standard and despite the fact that this was their mega-rich line, I thought it was thin and not super moisturizing. I also felt like the shampoo and conditioner weren't very rich - I needed to use a lot of product, more than I would usually need. My boyfriend is a Hilton Honors member so we got access to free breakfast on one of the upper floors. The breakfast itself was a little better than your standard hotel breakfast bar. It was good for being free for Hilton Honors members but I wouldn't pay out of pocket for that breakfast, considering there were a ton of great breakfast options nearby. There was a coffee machine that could make a variety of drinks (cappuccino, latte, espresso, americano) and there was also tea available for the non-coffee drinkers. I liked that the hotel was close to the state capitol and a ton of restaurants/bars (around 10 min walk). The hotel overlooks the lake and it's pretty. We were there for a wedding at Monona Terrace so staying here made it convenient to get to the venue without having to go outside in January. read more

Poor heating system, won't even get to 68 degrees in room (2nd stay with this condition). TV didn't respond to remote control. I called front desk and asked for another one to be brought up. Maintenance showed up (Shawn) without remote and proceeded to show me how to use a remote control like I was 5. Very condescending over such a small issue. Bring another one and take the old one away....apparently too much trouble so I went without TV for the night! Don't talk down to me and treat me like I'm stupid. Manager didn't care about either issue when I spoke to her (Cassandra). No customer service whatsoever. Corporate account so stuck here over and over again. read more

I loved the room and the location unfortunately, if you stay here, know that there are no cameras in their elevators. So if something untowards happens while you're in the elevator, this will be your word against the person. I found this one a bit disappointing for some reason since I will get into first off let me say this hotel is in an excellent location on Monona Lake the hotel even has a walkway with access to the lake And the community center.! The views from this hotel are absolutely beautiful! Let me add that they are not the only hotel down here on the lake you have options. They do have a restaurant on site with a very limited menu. The food was good not excellent. The staff is nice but not overly friendly like I'm used to at a Hilton. I asked them if I could use their helium tank to blow up a few balloons for a graduation party. Front staff casually stated she had no idea. So I continued to look at her until she said I will ask a manager and let you know. I then made sure she had my cell phone number. She never got back to me. There is no complementary coffee and tea here at this hotel you have to pay for it even just black coffee, which is also unusual for Hilton. There is no washer and dryer to use if you need to wash something. Again unusual for Hilton. this hotel also does not seem as clean as a typical Hilton. It's filthy around the toilet in my bathroom when they came to freshen the room after two days no one bothered to vacuum I think this hotel is a little too comfortable with the fact that they are in a good location and by good I actually mean excellent they are close to the capital everything is within walking distance plenty of restaurants and coffee and you're literally a block from the farmers market. They do it Saturday around the capital. But again, as I stated, there are several very nice hotels right here as well so you are certainly not limited to Hilton.Definitely not the caliber that I am used to from Hilton. read more

I stayed here while attending a local trade show at the adjoining convention center and this was a great choice. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy and up to what is expected in a Hilton hotel. The staff at the front was always friendly and helpful and I had zero issues while here. I did eat at their restaurant and bar which had a limited choice of items, but If you are looking for something simple like a burger, a club sandwich or a grilled chicken salad then this might be an easy stop for you. The bartender was very nice and by the second day remembered exactly what I liked to drink and even had suggestions on the meal choice. Overall, it was a good stay and my only complaint would be the expensive parking in the very tight garage. I was "upgraded" by the rental company to a full size SUV and had I known how tight this garage is, I would have went with a smaller vehicle. It was manageable, but you'll need to be cautious if you have a pickup or a 7+ passenger SUV. Enjoy! read more

We had an amazing experience at this hotel. We picked it due it's dog friendly policy which was incredible. They were so welcoming and kind to us and the staff was extremely accommodating. Our first room had a leaking toilet and they handled this issue beautifully. The rooms were extremely clean and well appointed for the price point. Only disappointment was no complimentary coffee in the lobby in AM and room coffee maker was sub par. But we managed just fine. Lots of great coffee houses nearby. The housekeeping staff was extremely friendly and very attentive. The last nice detail was that they validated two cars for parking for the price of one - $19 a night in a covered garage. Was incredibly good value. Will absolutely stay here again. I travel a lot and this hotel was up there for a midrange hotel. read more

I stayed here a while back but am just getting around to writing the review. The hotel is nice but is starting to seem a little old. Don't get me wrong, I liked my room quite a bit but I've stayed in other Hiltons in Madison. That being said, the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are clean. When I stayed there, I just ordered a few drinks at the bar and didn't eat so I can't speak to the food. The bartender was nice and chatted with us for a little while. As for parking, there is a parking lot for the hotel, but if I remember correctly, it does cost money (added to your bill). read more

My wife and I stayed between Aug 5-9 /2019. Although there was some minor construction at the front door, it was really inconsequential. The week we stayed in Madison was fairly warm, but it was wonderful to come back to a room that was so cold I had to turn up the A/C (I'm never cold). Our room was great with a wonderful view of the capital. We utilized the valet and shuttle and everything operated like a well oiled machine. Wow. We loved this place! We loved it so much that we booked another night immediately. Being pet friendly was a major plus for me. My dog was treated well, everywhere we went in the hotel. This Hilton is legit. It is on a one-way street right on the lake. 2 establishments are inside. There is the Olive Lounge which is a bar in the lobby and then the chophouse which is a restaurant at the very front of the hotel. I normally book the top floor corner room however it was unavailable at the time of check-in. I opted for a middle floor corner room with the lake view. We were very surprised at how quiet our room was even though there were 14 weddings on the terrace that weekend. The lake views were great! Our room was very bag with the fridge and lots of windows. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom had great counter space. Since it is so close to the capital building, there is lots of things to do. They have valet parking for $20 a night or self parking for $17 a night. Cons were all detail related: The bathroom fan did not work, The caulking in the bathroom was extremely sloppy, The windows did not open & the valet left the keys in the car so often there were other people in our car mistakenly when we were trying to leave (all rentals look the same). They allow pets and have a little welcoming for them at the entrance. I felt like overall this was a classy hotel and I would definitely stay here again. read more
