A perfect day, spring through the fall, kayaking on Hinckley Lake. The boat house here rents paddle. boats, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes and pontoons. There is a small swimming area and a much larger one lower on the lake where they hold swim up movies in the summer. Take your ID as you'll leave it when you rent a craft. There are waivers you need to submit available at the boathouse or you can print them off online. Payment is dependent on time. You rent by the hour. Friendly staff assists you with equipment and launching. You can pack a picnic lunch and eat it on the lake of use one of the many picnic tables along the Lake Loop trail when you arrive back at the dock. Snacks are available at the boathouse. read more

The park administration, for some reason, decided to toss the couple running the place out on their ear, suitcases stuffed with old life preservers, old dog with dog dish in mouth, really a sad, pathetic scene. I'll miss them Good news, though, is that the new management is doing just swell. It sure ain't the old home-spun charm, now that gub'mint employees run the place, but it's okay. The lake's still there. It's still wet. Hard to screw that up, too badly. read more

Very nice park with pool and artificial beach. Kids would surely fall in love with this place. I went on one Saturday afternoon in the summer for hiking. The trail we went is Lake loop trail. It's surrounding by the lake and it is BEAUTIFUL!! I can't imagine how pretty it will be in the fall. Definitely want to go back again. Cleveland Metro park does a great job maintaining the part, facility and the friendly environment. If you are looking for Kayak, boat ridding, and paddle boat ridding. They offer those facilities to rent with reasonable price. Love here and will come back again. read more

I have never been brave enough for a boat and last week I went in Miller Ferry to put in Bay and this past Friday and today (Sept 3rd and 5th 2016) was my first time in a kayak. My husbands first in a tandem. The staff is absolutely top notch. Super sweet people who I can't say enough good things about. Nice lake for first timers who are terrified of water, boats and waves. They were wonderful people and I'm glad to wear my kayak shirt from here. Wonderful experience all around even if I was terrified the first go out! Thanks! read more

They were so helpful. It was $65 for 2 hours to rent a small. BASIC pontoon boat. No one had a boat license. They gave a great tutorial and we had a great time on the lake. Great price, nice small lake, very relaxing. read more

BEWARE OF CANCELLATION POLICY! I live out of state and was coming into town to visit my sister who loves to kayak on this lake. I needed to cancel due to my niece having a covid exposure at school which prevented us from spending the weekend with my sister and her family. Yes, it is true that there is a 24 hour notice required for reimbursement/refund. I called to cancel as soon as I found out we would no longer be driving in from Pittsburgh. I missed the 24 hour cancellation window by 2 hours. I explained the situation and that our whole labor day weekend basically fell apart because until my niece got tested we couldn't be around her. I asked for some grace and kindness in hopefully reimbursing me even though I was over the 24 hours by a couple hours. Louise was very unkind to me and said " there are multiple places in the booking that states it must be 24 hours, you had ample opportunity to know it was 24 hours." I told her I realize that, but I wasn't canceling with only 2 hours notice, I literally canceled with 22 hours notice. She said Judy the owner was unwilling to give me a refund because we booked it and its done. I told her that I understand what their policy is but that I was hoping they would be understanding and interested in just good business practice. She said no. Wow, what a way to burn bridges and lose potential customers. Since they took my money I just want to be sure they don't do this to anyone else. DO NOT book unless you are damn sure that nothing will happen to prevent you from going. God forbid life happen. In today's world good polite business owners are hard to find. I feel like I wasn't, in any way, abusing their cancellation policy. I simply missed it by 2 hours. So I'm out over $72. read more

Beautiful place to visit but the staff at the boathouse seemed to be miserable and rude to customer's.

We rented a pontoon boat fot 2 hours and it would barely run so we came back in. The staff member on shore said he had tried the pontoon boat that morning and the choke does not work. Staff at the dock said we should have called them and phone numbers were posted on a sign (we never saw any signs)...or looked for the manual choke on the engine. We own multiple boats so lacking experience was not the problem. When the manager (Kate) heard about the less than expected boat performance she contacted us and said she would see that the boat is fixed, staff are trained, and refunded our money. All businesses have moments that are less than perfect. When management steps forward to make things right that is as good as it gets. I would go back and rent a boat again - knowing the company will make it right if something happens. It is a beautiful, peaceful lake. read more
