I'm mixed about this place. We went last summer and loved it so much that we ended up buying the same tubes. Today we floated and the owner (I think that's who he said he was) stopped us and accused us of stealing the tubes. We were on the other side of the river and they aren't even open today! The rude and accusing approach was so unacceptable. He wouldn't let it go even when I went to show him my receipt for the tubes. Spent a couple hours floating with friends in summer 2020. It was a great time had by all. The bus drops you off and picks you up at the end taking you back to were you started. We went on a Saturday. The River wasn't packed but it was easy to stop in most places if it got congested at all. Probably because it was a Saturday the selection of rafts was somewhat limited. For example ones with bottoms vs. Ones without. Im a small person so to be able to stay in the raft comfortably I needed a bottom I could sit in. The rafts had rope that you could tie on to your group to stick together. Gather round Yelpers, for this is the most comprehensive review of Float The River you will find online. I know, because I looked for it and couldn't find it. Behold! I did a float the summer of 2020. We reserved our tickets online for a more random increment of time during the day during the week. They did a great job controlling the amount of people, but again, because we were on a random weekday, we had no issues. You'll meet at a parking garage and check-in at a small tent. Bring as little as possible with you. Spend the extra dough to buy a cooler floater so you can store some snacks or really just use it for your stuff (it's worth the money). After check-in, a bus will take you to the float location. The staff will give you your float and help you get settled into the water. Buy a waterproof bag for your phone ahead of time. I saw someone drop there's in the river and it was a huge trauma for them. Wear your swimsuit, with maybe some clothes or water clothes over it you wouldn't mind getting wet or dirty. You are floating in a river afterall, and while it's clean, you'll encounter mud, bugs and other random river things. In my opinion, this is something everyone should do once. Clevelanders don't appreciate the Cuyahoga River enough and Float the River is a fun way to experience it differently! read more

Had a really good experience Sunday floating the river. Everything is incredibly professional and easy. There are signs marking where to park, tents with signup info and fantastic employees that explain everything so well. We brought large coolers and payed an extra $20 for a float to put the coolers on the raft. Everything was quick and seamless, so they aren't like checking your coolers or anything. A lot of people brought Yeti containers with drinks. They bus you to Brust Park, where there's an enormous pile of rafts, take one and go float. The trip isn't all that long, but you can easily make it take a while. You don't have to stay with the group you started with. You just finish at your own pace, and a bus will be there at the end to take you back. Just make sure you're on the last bus for the day and you're good. We started at noon and made multiple pit stops to just swim and enjoy the river. We made the 1.5 hour voyage take about 3 hours. I'd definitely do it again. read more

Pros: - really fun and easy way to relax and be outside on the water - easy to order tickets - professional and kind customer service - they answered on the first ring when we called to move our time out an hour - the bus to/from the drop off was super easy (it's an old school bus - cool kids sit in the back lol) - fun vibe at checkin/drop off - you can buy waterproof bags to bring your phone along, but it's way cheaper to get some on Amazon and bring with you! Cons: - it's just too short! Our float was a little over an hour (though admittedly we didn't take many breaks along the river banks like some people do) - "spiders fell on us from tree branches!" (my boyfriend wants to make sure that's mentioned haha) - they'll charge you the same price even if you bring your own float - a little pricey for the length of the trip, but there are so many people working to keep things running smoothly it makes sense they need money to pay them All in all I totally recommend this fun afternoon activity. A friend told me about this place. What a great time! Pros: *Ordering tickets online and reserving a spot was super easy. * Everyone was extremely nice and enthusiastic. Our bus drivers both ways were funny, interactive and personable. *very relaxing float down the river. * being able to 'sign the bus' was a unique way to become part of the history. Cons: *wish we would have known about the push sick's to rent as there was a lot of debris and fallen trees along the way. We became stuck multiple times. Perhaps that can be put on the website. * Didn't realize that there were multiple types of float tubes. If you go, make sure you get one with a mesh bottom. * My tube that I had chosen was lacking air. Didn't realize this until halfway down the river. So this was our second time floating with float the river. Check in was easy like last time. Paid $10 for the cooler tube at check in. My only complaint is that the person driving the bus never said a word to our group. Like literally not even hello. Just sat there when we got on the bus, same thing when we got off and didn't converse with us on the ride. The person that came on the bus before we left really wasn't that much more enthused. Last year they were way more interactive and wanted everyone to have a good time. I see posts from people talking about how friendly and talkative the driver was... joking around and such. Guess we didn't get that one. Also last year there were people kind of directing the traffic at the pick up point so you'd know when the float was ending. There was no one out in the water this year, one girl almost kept on floating by as did my mom. Granted we were watching her but she had to jump out in water up to her neck to get out, and she's almost 80 years old. Just a suggestion to always have a look out at the end of the float just in case. We were a group of 10 so we had to get everyone out together. Pros- easy to register, shuttle service, free parking, no interaction or supervision, relaxing, easy to use tubes Cons- too short (about 1 1/2 hrs), many obstacles (downed trees, rocks in water) that we had to navigate and not just float, TONS of dragonflies landing on us all day A fun day out. I had the best experience here. My two friends and I showed up without a reservation because we weren't sure what time we wanted to go. I let the worker I was speaking with know that and he was able to get is in no problem. He was so kind about us and really helped us out. Everyone I encountered had such good attitudes and they were accommodating. Once we went to get on the tubes we didn't realize you had to pay for the cooler floatie but I was able to play on the spot via venmo for it which was very convenient because I don't carry cash. After our float the guy who helped us out was so nice too. I had the best time floating and hanging out with my friends and we had a great time. This was the worst experience. First off they need to be clear online about what you can bring and can't bring. No disposable items meaning no water bottles plastic bags can chips none of that. Second off when we got to the actual river and got in the water there were no sticks to guide us so we winded up getting stuck multiple times in the trees we were told there were no more guiding sticks. If you don't have one be prepared to work out. Third off, well it started storming at the very end which caused us to get stuck so we had to jump out and walk(VERY BAD IDEA DO NOT JUMP Out) there are rocks all at the bottom that makes it unbearable to walk on if you have no shoes on(wear swim shoes!!) needless to say I almost drowned cause at the end it gets deep and you can't touch the ground and then trying to get out the water at the end is a task there is no decent walkway to get out it's a struggle. Needless to say it was a workout more than it was relaxing oh and let's not forget the dragon flys attacking us the whole ride. read more

We took a ride down the river yesterday. The first 10 minutes were relaxing and enjoyable. Then thunderstorms rolled in and it became a terrifying and cold adventure with a 7 year old. Why wouldn't the staff be monitoring the weather conditions prior to launching a bunch of people down the river with no way out? I understand that rain happens and the conditions can't be guaranteed but it seems that someone from the Float the River staff should have been monitoring conditions for thunder and lightening storms? My mom and a few of her friends checked this out, and said it was terrible. The owner was very rude and her overall experience was awful. They certainly care more about the money than your safety. She also said her tube was filthy and didn't look to be cleaned in awhile. Her friend was asked how much she weighs because there is a weight limit for their tubes, but she only weighs 167 pounds. The $20 a person (each of her friends) price is very high. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND USE YOUR OWN TUBE AND GO DOWN THE RIVER FOR FREE. There's no need to pay $20 to rent a tube for only an hour or so. Keep in mind that before these owners made this a way to make money off of people, they were using their own tubes and the river free. After the experience my mom had, I ordered her a very nice brand new tube for just $29 on Amazon. She no longer has to go through these owners and can take her tube on the river whenever she wants for free. There are also lots of tubes cheaper than $30. Just buy your own and use the river free! Please don't let these owners take advantage of you. They do not own the river. They are simply just citizens who started a business. I'm sure they tell people things to make people want to go through them (for their own profit) regardless of the fact that they know anyone can use their own tube and river free of charge. Once again, the couple that owns this business were using their own tubes on the river free, and saw a opportunity to make money. read more
