I had read the reviews and they appeared decent. i have never left a review, but this salon needs a bit of customer service training!! from the time I entered the salon ( good few times ) I had been treated very rudely! Yesterday morning I called during morning open hours to make an appointment. I was hoping to get in before the end of the day. My regular salon in Redmond that I have been going to for about two years had closed without warning, so I was in need of a new place. This place sounded good. Unfortunately, they weren't able to answer the phone, so it went to voice mail and I left a message. The day went by and I hadn't received a return call , so I called again about 15 minutes before their scheduled closing time. Again, no answer. It's noon the following day as I write this, and still no call. I drove by on my way home from another salon (who now has my business) and saw people inside and lights on. I've been coming to Hip Chicks Salon for about a year for cut & color with stylist Stacy and nails with Kilie. Stacy does a beautiful job with color, and with taking CARE of my hair - great products and treatments to strengthen and moisturize. Kilie does a great job on my nails! I went here for about 7 months or so. I'm not sure what kind of products they are using but my hair is in such poor shape, that it broke off in several places and is very badly damaged now. Very harsh chemicals to my hair. I would not recommend this salon. Will never go back. read more

I had a great experience. Salon was very clean (my pet peeve) and décor was very nice. I felt very comfortable at the salon. There was no "uppity" feeling like I should be thankful they allowed me in (like other salon). My person was Neva. She did a great color correction on me after a mess-up at a different salon. Not a lot of interaction with other staff as they are toward the back but heard many talking and laughing. The 2 ladies at the pedicure area we having a good time. A person from the coffee house next door (Coho?) came over and took orders. That was a great perk!! All in all a great experience and I rebooked for another appointment in 6 weeks. Wonderful!!!! I walked in today hoping to get a pedicure and found out things were booked up for the day. However, Siera a hairstylist there, texted their nail tech Jennifer who had the day off, and she came in just to do my pedicure. For $45 it was a huge deal based on all the products they use and the time it takes. I had a lovely foot soak in some interesting jellify-ing product followed by a minty foot mask then a foot and leg massage. I simply cannot rave enough about how kind and sweet Jennifer is. I am new to town and she made me feel instantly at home and welcomed. The decor is also really well done and has a warmth that makes you feel at ease. On a side note, I have heard excellent things about their male hair stylist Jesse. I am already looking forward to coming back to get my hair done. Solid 5/5 stars. read more

I was really excited to put red in my hair. But Garrett did my hair and he barely put any red in it because he said "I don't want to make you a red head" I'm super upset about that. Because I wanted red hair. It shouldn't matter what he wants to do because I was paying for it. After he cut my hair. I told him I wanted a trim. I made it very clear that I wanted as little as possible cut off. There's several inches cut off, and he cut layers in my hair when I specially told him NO LAYERS!!! Now my hair has huge chunks cut out of it because he cut a ton off. I'm so upset I haven't even left the house since I got my hair done two days ago. He told me if I wanted more red in it I could come back in and pay more money for him to do what I actually wanted. I'm so upset and I don't even know what to do now. The hair salon was nice but I wouldn't recommend going to him, he was very flirty telling me over and over that I was very very gorgeous and just staring at me. I actually ran to my car after because he was staring at me not saying anything lol. But the main problem is my hair is screwed up completely. read more

I had a great time catching up with an old friend while I got my hair done, I was a little disappointed in how the color turned out and had to go back in to get it fixed because I left with orange roots. The next day it was fixed and looks great! Not sure how to rate them. They were able to squeeze me in as a walk-in on a slow day. The hair cut was OK - it turned out too short but that's my fault because I asked her to cut a little more at the end and then I was unhappy with it later. The reason I won't go back is that they just weren't friendly. From the person at the front who booked me in to the lady who cut my hair, there was almost no conversation, no smiling, no encouragement to come back. I tried starting up conversation a couple of times and got nowhere. I left feeling OK about the hair cut but unwanted as a customer and sought out someone else the next time. read more

Cut my the back of my neck, never apologized seemed to think she was doing me a favor by removing a mole, joking about "free surgery". Otherwise the haircut was fine, paid full price and tipped. Didn't realize the extent she cut me until I got home and felt blood dripping down my neck. read more
