She is great with kids and was the only hair stylist/barber my son trusted when he was a toddler. I called ahead with my concerns, and from the very beginning, the staff made me feel completely at ease. Today was about giving my mom a day of beauty and helping her remember what it feels like to be pampered. I live on Maui while she lives in Texas, so it's hard not being here with her as much as I'd like. The team at Homegrown Beauty Lounge treated my mom like family. They were kind, patient, compassionate, and made her feel so special. When they were finished, she looked absolutely AMAZING--they took at least 15 years off her! More importantly, they gave her confidence and a smile I haven't seen in a long time. Not only are they wonderful people, but they also do fantastic haircuts. After 24hours of not washing the new color, I noticed my wet hair was sticking and breaking off. I contacted Emily Hankemeier and was told that nothing was wrong with my hair because she didn't damage it. Other words, she denied and ended up sending me home with a free 20.00 treatment bottle. After this I can't get my hair done thinking she could damage others hair on their heads. I had to treat it for almost two years without heat and a lot of break off from the highlights on what the new hair after being cut was Virgin.

When I sent her pictures of her initial work she was "embarrassed" and said she would fix it. I went back the following day for her to fix it. Yea no. It's not as awful as before but no where near fixed. Extremely unacceptable and I don't know anyone who would honestly pay for what she did to my hair. When I asked her for a refund she gave no reply. I have tried reaching out to her and received no response. When I inquired to the owner about a refund she let me know that each stylist is their own business and they just rent a space from her. She said that "You will have to talk with amber about a refund but i know she put a lot of time and product into your hair." She put a lot of time and product into destroying my hair. I can't speak for the other stylist at this salon but if you are reading this review before booking an appointment avoid Amber.
