Since doctors are typically super busy and hard to track down or see, their nurses are the ones to face patients most of the time. Lauren is very dedicated to her work and considerate of her patients. She always encourages patients and their family care givers to call her or the office whenever they have any questions, and she always returns calls timely. She is kind-hearted and listens to her patients' worries and concerns. She makes every effort to make sure to communicate patients' questions to the doctors she works with for answers and solutions. I can't say enough thanks to Lauren! On a separate note, the nurses in the infusion room are all wonderful, so caring and competent that make the harsh treatment much less stressful for the patients and their families. While it's a shame that I simply cannot come close to saying any of the same for Cooper hospital in Camden NJ, I do prey for anyone ending up there for testing or anything else and prey some of the employees there get their heads checked and straightened out, however Cooper Voorhees as far Oncology or any other services is where you want to be if unfortunately you need such services. Save yourself the pain, the stress, and the tears of the foul treatment people receive at Virtua /Penn, and go straight to Cooper Voorhees, and let your worries fade away at least a bit.

Dr. Ian Horkheimer specializes in hematology and medical oncology and is board certified in both. For many years, he has been treating patients in the Little Silver community. Dr. Horkheimer received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin. He completed his residency at Washington University-Barnes/Jewish Hospital in internal medicine and conducted his fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center in hematology and medical oncology.

Most of the nurses are great. The woman who make the appointments were always helpful as well. Once and a while I had or saw someone else have some trouble with a particular girl at the front desk. I also had some issues with a couple of the woman giving transfusions. For one they would barely introduce themselves and then Im hard to stick and they would make it obvious when they were annoyed. These things make an uncomfortable situation worse. I add this in because no matter how great a doctor is he is only as good as his staff will allow. Overall my experience here was a 7 out of 10 and if I had any problems I would go back without hesitation.

The scheduler, hearing the tears in my voice, said "We've got you." I have felt that way ever since. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kerstein and Dr. Park. Clear, patient and compassionate, they have guided me through my treatments without once forgetting my humanity. Yes, sometimes you need to wait an extra 10-15 for your appointment time, but this is a cancer hospital not a restaurant. If someone sick needs a little more time with your doctor so be it. It will be your turn to need the extra 20 minutes at some point. We are blessed in central NJ to have such an incredible medical facility right here. There's nowhere else I would ever go.

Yes, they have an abundance of business so they don't exactly take the time with you. But, you do need to advocate for yourself and speak up when you feel you are being rushed. Frustrating when you expect to see the doctor and they put an iPad before you because the doc isn't there. When you have a scheduled telemedicine, expect it to be thirty minutes past your time.

On a recent first visit to the Gastroenterology Dept, I parked in the East Lot for the first time and walked up the ramp to the main building only to find two elderly men sitting behind the desk in grey uniforms that appeared to identify them as part of the Maintenance Dept. When I asked for directions to the Gastro Dept - they had NO IDEA! Next, I approached a staff member at a desk outside the entrance for Breast Cancer patients. She pointed me in the direction of the Young Pavilion. After a VERY LONG walk that took me in almost a full circle, I finally found the Gastro Dept - only to be greeted by a receptionist on the phone who refused to make eye contact of acknowledge my presence in any way. I would've be happy for just a smile - but NOTHING. After sitting for a while, I went to the rude receptionist who was still on a call that was - apparently - more important than greeting patients. I stood over her until her finally made eye contact but not with a smile. Instead, she snarled, "I'm on a call! This lack of staff training is inexcusable at a nationally recognized cancer hospital!

Today my phlebotomist was Jennifer, she was so friendly, very proficient at her skills and she was sporting some very fashionable red shiny athletic shoes. If Dorothy wasn't so hung up on those clickable healed shoes these would be her kicks! My nurse was Chevon who was also very pleasant. This location part of Penn Medicine runs very smoothly. I have never had a wait longer than 15 minutes past my appointment time. Courtney & Michael handle the coordination of infusions and a lot of other things. The reception (check-in & check-out) staff are all also kind, helpful and efficient. Dr. David H. Henry, MD is my practitioner here and he is professional, kind, thoroug and is in and out like a flash unless your health warrants a longer visit. He is very familiar with your case, your medical history and current issues before entering the room. They draw labs before you go into the exam room and have some results in minutes so the doctor gets a good evaluation of you the day of your visit. This team makes a difficult situation as pleasant as possible.
