My experience with her and my tattoo was amazing, despite a few problems on my end. If you're going to get your first tattoo I recommend a few things: tell someone that you're getting it (I told nobody, not my friends or family which made my anxiety skyrocket), and eat something with s u g a r before you go in. I ate a plain bagel and scrambled eggs which did not cut it for me. Within minutes I (to my embarrassment) went into shock and passed out (partly due to my anxiety and partly due to the "omfg I'm actually doing this)- Jess and the other worker there were super kind about it they gave me a glucose tablet and energy drinks and coffee and water. Probably something else too food-wise to help me feel better, which was absolutely amazing and I so so SO appreciated it. I could take a break as needed and Jess was super understanding. Next time I go back I'll be sure to have something to keep my blood sugar up before going in. Amazing customer experience on their end, I was able to finish my tattoo which took about 3.5hrs and the cost was not as much as I anticipated so I felt like it was an amazing price- especially since I unexpectedly got their energy drinks (can I like bring some for you guys next time as repayment? Lol but actually though...). As a broke college student I probably won't get another for awhile but when I choose to, I'll definitely be going back.

I waited over an hour into my scheduled appointment time just to overhear one of the tattoo artists training the piercer on tattooing talking about how "it's crazy how no one's in the shop today" & had to personally contact my artist and wait almost another hour to hear he was unable to finish the last of his books and has relocated; nothing was relayed to me. & notifications were still being sent out for appointments. Jon is the piercer there and had made many comments that felt hostile upon meeting him the first time (i was just in for a tattoo with another artist and he kept popping in the room) about his superiority and hate for sex workers and particular groups of people. disgusted.

This being said, I have many tats and Lex has done the majority of them. I love his work, his color work is pretty solid and for what I wanted, he was honest and fair. He is also very charitable. The shop is clean and pretty chill. They are also pretty decently priced. You can also generally get an appointment as they do not have a waitlist. Here are my complaints. 1) The hours are strange. You are hard pressed to find them actually there. Call before you come. 2) They are slow to get back on web inquiries and their website is very dated. 3) If you don't know where you are going, you are going to get lost. Finally, I would say, that for a small unknown tattoo shop in the suburbs, they are a hidden gem.
