Very slow and irritating staff. Rude front desk people and appointment started 40 minutes late and took far longer than necessary.

He has not only consulted us on our routine checkups and maintenance of our teeth, but also on very unique issues of one of our children born with over 9 missing teeth buds, Our child had braces, now a teen has a retainer with teeth on it and eventually will have implants. Dr. Parks has guided us through this complicated journey with professionalism, dedication to the patient and excellent referrals of an orthodontist team and surgeon consultant. Dr. Parks strives to continue learning by teaching at the U of M and becoming updated on new procedures, and this industry of care. I highly recommend Dr. Parks.as his expertise and friendly staff make it a great experience for all ages when going to the dentist can be daunting.

On May 15th, 2026, Sarah from this office called and left me a voicemail stating they received my request, were booking new patients for mid-to-end of June, and asked me to call back to schedule. When I called back, the staff were explicitly made aware of my online request and the reason I was calling back and actively tried to move forward to find a timeslot for me and schedule an appointment as a new patient. However, the exact moment I disclosed that my insurance is MinnesotaCare, they flipped. They immediately denied me service as all of the sudden they 'are no longer accepting new patients.' Turning away individuals based on their public assistance status while keeping the door open for private payees is illegal discrimination under the Minnesota Human Rights Act. This practice is money-hungry, unethical, and a blatant violation of basic patient respect. Avoid this place. Also note, MinnesotaCare is not free and insurance I am PAYING THE PREMIUMS every month to have just to get denied services and care that I have the right to go to receive these services and care).

To give this Dentistry by Design a 1-star rating is very generous on my part. This is a horrible…read morevendor on so many levels. I obtained a treatment plan and the cost of this plan from my dentist in Florida. Since there was extensive work required the amount of this plan was very high. Before, I committed to starting this treatment, I was going to obtain two more estimates and obtain additional treatment plans. Dr. Rizvi is a dentist in my insurance network. Although I had been to this facility in the past, I was not overly impressed with it. However, in reviewing Dr. Rizvi credentials on the website, I was impressed with him. I was led to believe from his website that he could do the extractions and do the implants. I emailed Dr. Rizvi from Florida and told him I wanted another opinion and could he give me an opinion and a treatment plan. Dr. Rizvi agreed to meet with me and said this visit would be of no charge. Not only did he charge me for this visit he did not give me a treatment plan and an opinion. His solution was to make referrals to an oral surgeon for extractions and a periodontist for implants. I declined his referrals as my current periodontist would do the extractions and implants. I went in for a cleaning at Dentistry by Design. The hygienist was planning to do x-rays which I declined, and I explained to her that my periodontist had done x-rays and in the past week and that I had paid $596 for this work. I had given Dr. Rizvi a flash drive of these x-rays. She appeared to be miffed at my refusal for x-rays and asked the dentist if she should proceed with the cleaning without x-rays. She did proceed with an abbreviated cleaning as it only took 15 minutes, and cleaning usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour. I emailed Dr. Rizvi and requested that he not invoice my insurance. I explained to him that since the hygienist had done such a shotty job, I was going to have to have them recleaned. Dr. Rizvi did not call me to further discuss this matter, but he did bill my insurance company. Not only did they invoice the insurance company, but the explanation of benefits showed that they showed a tax on the service. I called the business agent and told her I did not think taxing me for this service was legal. She assured me that it was legal. I contacted my insurance company, and I was informed that I should not be taxed. I again called the business agent at Dentistry by Design, and I was told it was a provider free even though on the explanation of benefits it clearly states it is a tax. I again called the insurance company and was told that a provider fee was not legal if it was an in-network provider. The insurance company said they were going to file a complaint against Dentistry by Design. Another concern is with the appliance that was made when my front teeth were extracted. This appliance is poor fitting, and it is causing multiple sores in my mouth. In a recent visit to another dentist, she filed the appliance and so it fits better. A lesser concern is their poor communication with me. They were to call when my appliance was ready, which they never did. I had to call them and when I asked if the appliance was in, they said they needed to check and was told they would call me back, which they never did. I had to call them, and they told me it was ready, but I needed to wait to see if I could pick it up. Once again, I had to make another call about the pick up of the appliance. Another concern was bad information about pricing. I also inquired about the cost of crowns for my implants, and I was told $7,000 per implant. This seemed to be an extraordinary cost as most crowns range from $2,300 to $3000. I again questioned the fee and a different person said she thought the original quote was for a total implant even though when I questioned the first person about the crowns, I made it clear I was only talking about the crowns she gave me this very high quote. It should also be noted that my experience with Dr. Rizvi reveals that he does not do implants. It should also be noted the internet shows Dr. Rizvi as an oral surgeon, and yet he was going to refer me to an oral surgeon for my extracts. Mary Ann
