HIS is located in the middle of Ala Moana Shopping Center close to Center Stage and has regular Mall hours. It's location makes it very convenient to pick up your JR Rail Pass and if necessary, make other arrangements through this full service travel agency. They also sell items from Japan and items branded from Hawaii. I've been there three times in the last few months to pick up a two-week green car JR Rail Pass. With the recent decline in the Japanese Yen it makes travel to Japan much more affordable and enjoyable. The JR Rail Pass allows unlimited travel on the shinkansen, JR trains, JR buses and even ferries. Regular cars on the shinkansen have 3x2 seating but green car or business class allows 2x2 seating and a carpeted walking area allowing for a more quiet ride. On this last trip I went all the way North to Hokodate and all the way south to Kagoshima and back and forth between Hiroshima, Osaka, and Tokyo many times and it's all unlimited and included with the JR Rail Pass. The associate Mika is knowledgeable and friendly so be sure to see her for your JR Rail Pass and any other travel needs you might have. Definitely recommended.

Now that Japan is now open you might of went to Kaheka St and looked for HIs which was next to Don Quijote like me and found that they moved. Well they moved to Ala Moana Shopping Center on the ground floor near the Makai Market Food Court. So you want to go visit the land of the rising sun. The land where there is so many things to do, see and eat. Hmmmm sake and sushi, how could you go wrong?!?!?! Well let's say this is your first time or you have questions on what to do, how to get to places, etc. the people here probably can help you to see if you need to buy the rail pass, which one and so forth. You can also get a pocket wifi so you will always be connected. You will be able to access your apps like Google maps, Line to call your friends and family for free. Download and use the Transite app to see when and where the trains are running. I highly suggest getting a backup battery charger as it would be so junk to run out of juice and get lost. So come over here to get your Japan on!

We just went to the Snow Festival tour. It was our first tour and the best. Morisan and Michikosan were the best guides. Our bus driver was also the best. They took good care of everyone. The food was really good and we saw all the different parts of Hokkaido. I would highly recommend HIS World for tours. So much fun.

We booked our Oceania Transoceanic cruise about 18 months in advance - plenty of time to coordinate - but none of our request were handled properly. NS blamed Oceania for the travel arrangements, yet Oceania only comunicates through the travel agent leaving us stuck with NS and no real help. To make matters worse, we (friends and us) were assigned different travel advisors at NS who did not communicate with each other. Our friends and us ended up with cabins on opposite ends of the ship. We both paid for Business Class upgrades; we were booked on different airlines with different itineraries. Wrong information given to us. Communication was poor - excuses, delays and no accountability or taking responsibility. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Non-Stop Travel. If you want clear communication and a company that actually listens, look elsewhere. If you are considering an Oceania cruise, book directly with Oceania.

With that said, when I looked at the itinerary, I asked "why"? My daughter's response was "I want to see the monkeys!" I've been in the hospitality industry for a really long time. When it comes to travel, I'm always looking for a deal on everything from transportation to hotels. However, paying retail for this tour was worth the price because I was able to enjoy every moment of it without any worries at all. The tour that we signed up for was for Off the Beaten Path: A Different Side of Japan Spring Break Tour that took us to see Sado Island, Snow Monkeys, Nagoya, Hakone and Tokyo. Personally, I have been to Japan only once before, and wasn't sure of what to expect. I was more than pleasantly surprised. We flew Japan Airlines, which was wonderful and all of the hotels that we stayed at were quality locations. I have been on school group tours, but never on a regular group tour. Our tour manager, Pam Tegan was fantastic. You would never have guessed that it was her first solo tour. She took care of all of us (36 people, including kids to senior travelers). Our group was terrific because without saying, everyone understood the 'to be early is to be on time' concept. Our JTB tour guide, Nagi, shared her enthusiasm, knowledge, humor, and passion about the areas we visited. Both Pam and Nagi were professional, organized, caring and great listeners. We had specific things that we wanted to do (like going to Jin's to get prescription glasses) and they kept our requests in mind and told us about where and when on the tour would be the best for us to get what we wanted. Between Pam and Nagi, they really went above and beyond to care for each person in the group. Going on this tour in mid-March happened to be perfectly timed for most of the "gotta see" stops on the tour. The weather was great for most of the tour dates. It was cool and during the bus ride, we experienced a clear viewing of Mt. Fuji (which we were told does not happen all the time). This tour provided us with a different perspective of life in Japan outside of the tourist spots that most people talk about. We visited small towns, learned a lot about the history of Sado Island, experienced hands-on soba making, sushi making, and made inlaid wooden coasters. It was pretty amazing even for the non-crafters. One of the unexpected highlights of the tour for me was a visit to the Toyota museum. I am not into cars and couldn't help but wonder why we're stopping at a car museum. This museum shared, not just a history of Toyota, but the history of the automotive industry in Japan. For those of you who are car enthusiasts, the vehicles displayed were absolutely beautiful. It took my breath away. On the other side of the activities, of course we were in Japan so there was a lot of walking. My family was not looking forward to the 30 minute walk from the bus to the gate of the snow monkey park. But I have to tell you, it was worth the hike. The hike was picturesque and the path was gradual for the most part. The weather was ideal for the snow monkeys to make their way to the onsen. It was a delightful experience. Yes there was shopping but the charm of this tour was the back roads experience, dressing in kimonos, three kaiseki meals and of course, deep soaks in onsens. We were also blessed with sharing time with amazing families on the tour. The icing on the cake was we had a professional photographer traveling as part of our group. We shared our pictures via an app called photo circle. Although my photos were OK, we were able to also see all of the wonderful pictures that he took as well. The bus rides were a little longer than I expected, but there were a lot of rest stops and good food along the way. For me, this trip did exactly what it was supposed to ... take my mind off of work and the stress of every day. I was able to enjoy my family and meet wonderful new people. As we landed back in Hawaii and said goodbyes, I took many incredible memories with me that will last for a very long time. How much did we really enjoy the trip? We are already planning a trip in 2026 with Non-stop and Pam as our tour manager.

Those days when we used to rely on travel agents to arrange our flights and/or hotels for our trips now has pivoted quite a bit with the growth of internet and having the airlines taking a great command of it all it does make things quite easy yet sometimes we do need help with several items especially when it's in a foreign country. JTB or more known as Japan Travel Bureau is a small office in Ala Moana Center Street Level all the way at the very end near Nordstrom side you'll notice the more prominent Olioli section which is the greeting desk for visitors just go right beside that is where you need to be. I've asked about wifi by calling and was told that reservation was done online and that I'm able to pick it up in store on date that you'd reserve but had a difficult time finding it all online only pick up in Japan which was discouraging for me as I'm going to multiple cities decided on just purchasing the Rail Pass. Rail Pass are very easy and are able to purchase up to 90 before you need to redeem for use I would suggest checking weekly as rates will reflect on yen rates so being patient and lucky would be in your favor as well. Ordering it online was a bit different from the other location that I usually go to but is a convenience if it's a method you'd refer. Once paid you get a email notice and ready for pick up anytime I found out that they do have wifi rental as well that you're able to pick up at the Honolulu Office but the staff here is very nice and fluent in both English and Japanese which was very helpful for both me and mom making it a cool place to get what you need. Air & Sea Travel seemed to always give me the best "bang for the buck". They manage to find the best hotels and restaurants one can find at a fair price. So far the Air & Sea Tour Leaders who accompany the group on the tour have been courteous, organized, and careful. They look out after everyone in the group and always give helpful "heads up" suggestions about the place we are visiting next... and sometimes suggest what items are good to buy and bring home. I've done some Air & Sea tour packages going to Japan and China. I just recently came back from the Silk Road Xinjiang Tour and had a blast. For this tour, we had IMO the best local guide, her name is Risa. She spoke passionately about Uyghur culture and was one of the few local guides that I did not notice anyone falling asleep to on the bus (at least from where I was sitting in the back of the bus). In contrast with other different tours... the local guide will speak in a monotone voice and give text-book like lectures on the bus. People will then start to tune out and fall asleep. The company tour leader would then have to interrupt and tell a joke to wake everyone up. Pleasantly... this was not the case with Risa and this Air & Sea Xinjiang tour. The group also found Risa fun to hang out with on this tour. The Air & Sea Tour leader for this particular Silk Road Xinjiang tour, Derrick K., was outstanding and organized. He kept everything together like super glue and made things go as smoothly as possible. Having great local guides and tour leaders are what help make any tour successful. Actually... all of the other Air & Sea Tour leaders on my previous trips (Ryan, Mike, Derick S.) were outstanding as well. What I like about Air & Sea overall is that their tour itineraries are carefully thought out. They don't try to cram too much stuff into one day like other companies do as that can be tiring. Air & Sea tours give one the experience to try foods that are not usually found in Honolulu. I've been on their Tibet, Kyushu, Hokkaido, Harbin, Niigata, and lately Xinjiang tours. All were great. These Air & Sea tours have been a culturally educational and fun experience for me.
