Unique venue with parking adjacent to the actual venue building (as a woman, definitely would NOT feel safe walking alone at night from the venue to the parking garage). The interior is high ceilings within open rafters (cedar, I think) reminded me of the inside of a large ski lodge. The coolest part is downstairs - - the classic car collection is very cool. We enjoyed taking pictures standing in front of all the cars. Attended a wedding and reception here. We enjoyed the upstairs and downstairs, but unfortunately it's not ADA friendly, so none of the elderly guests were able to go downstairs where are the classic cars are displayed. Beautiful hardwood floors were great for the dance floor and the reception/dinner. The catering was not good :( but possibly they use an outside vendor(s) for the food? read more

A nice venue for your next event. I attended a wedding here recently and was charmed by its brick interior, high exposed wood beam ceilings and how well the soft yellow lighting worked. The space is divided into two halves. On the left side is the hall where the ceremony took place and after the chairs were moved became the dance floor. The right held the bathrooms, bridal chambers and tables for the reception. Having the two divided spaces was nice for the flow of events. There is a parking structure and some local street parking. It is located in a remotely industrial area next to the freeway which is a bit strange but after stepping inside it's a great space. read more

We booked Historic 1625 as our wedding venue a year in advanced because we loved how BEAUTIFUL, yet affordable it was and we could not have been any happier! The process from beginning to end was so smooth. My husband and I worked with Kellie. Not only did she make this whole process fun (do not get me wrong, there were times when it was TOUGH because that's normal wedding stuff, right?), but she was extremely helpful and quick to respond whenever we needed her. Her relationships with the vendors we worked with clearly showed us how great and qualified she was at her job. She definitely went above and beyond to make our wedding what it was...and it was freaking amazing! The main things we were looking for in a venue were on-site parking, two separate bridal suites and room to accommodate a large party - Historic 1625 checked all of those requirements. For cocktail hour, we included the car garage package and that was a HIT with all of our guests. The classic cars were a nice touch as people were mingling in between the ceremony and reception. We fit 270+ people comfortably into one side for the reception, while allowing the other side to be open for the bar, dance floor and desserts. Thank goodness for so much space because we had a line of people for our ice cream cart, while having so much room for people to dance at the same time. If we could have another wedding there, we would! Maybe for a future anniversary. I highly recommend this venue!!! read more

This venue has a great vibe, great spaces and a wonderful team to work with. We held a wedding there for about 120 and fit very comfortably. Kellie and all the staff were AMAZING! She was quick to respond, answered all my (hundreds) of questions. They worked with us on everything and accommodated our huge guest count. I knew it would be a challenge and it was hard to find a place that would accommodate all of our guests but they made it work! All of our guests loved it! My brother in law even said he wants to throw their son's 1st birthday here because they liked the venue so much. Everyone was in love with how it looked. It's the exact style and vibe we wanted for our day. All our guests also loved the car room. It was a perfect place for everyone to have cocktail hour after the ceremony. This venue is amazing when you're looking for a places that's well maintained and has value in what you pay. With the pandemic we have had to change our dates and they have been more than flexible with everything going on. They were more than happy to have me come back I don't know how many times to look at the space leading up to the wedding. If money wasn't an object I'd have my wedding all over again. read more

Warning - Had a wedding set for this summer for a Saturday night. We are finally offered a date change (only 2 months out) due to covid but will be hit with a 1500 dollar date change fee for a Saturday wedding. No refunds and we have already paid the full amount. Many of our friends have been offered free change with no additional charge with a lot longer notice vs 2 months. Our vendors have been waiting on their answer regarding the delay. Historic 1625 was absolutely the perfect venue for our wedding. I don't remember how I found it, but I'm so glad that I did! It had such beautiful character that I didn't have to decorate much at all. The space is perfect to house a ceremony and reception in the same location. We had our ceremony in one room, reception in the other. The chairs got moved out of the ceremony room and into the reception room. The ceremony room then got turned into the dance floor. It was great because the bar was also in that room and gave guests a place to mingle while the chairs were being moved. I had the pleasure of working with multiple staff at Historic 1625. The owner, Kristen Wynne, was our first point of contact when setting up our original tour. I was pretty sold before even going on the tour that that's where I wanted to get married. But going on the tour just confirmed that this place was the perfect package. We were able to book our date about a year and a half in advance and were able to lock in 2014 pricing by securing our date with a deposit within 30 days of going on our tour. I was able to tour the venue multiple times before the wedding, to show family, friends, and the photographer the venue. Taylor Voight, a previous employee, helped schedule this tour, was there for the tour, and helped me with early on invoicing. Kellie Blair was a tremendous help. She helped us schedule a brief appointment to talk through the layout. Cora Young, assisted us in finalizing our layout as we were able to stop in to confirm the layout and it worked out that there was an event already setup that was going to be similar in size. It really helped to visualize the space as opposed to trying to get an idea from a piece of paper. Kellie helped guide us through our rehearsal and was our day-of coordinator from Historic 1625. She went above and beyond the call of duty, from helping us setup to take down. Without her I don't know if it would have gone so smooth! Thank you! read more

LOVE Historic 1625. Due to covid we held an intimate ceremony this year and rescheduled our big ceremony & reception to next year. The night before our intimate ceremony in November we learned that our officiant had potentially been exposed to covid and could not perform our ceremony as planned. We notified Kellie at 1625 THE MORNING OF our wedding and she somehow scraped together the most beautiful, personalized, & tailored ceremony, which she performed for us herself. All while maintaining a positive attitude. Would give 10 stars if I could. read more

From making sure I had the right size linens to explaining the best DJ setup, Kellie went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. On the venue itself: we knew we wanted a venue where we could have the ceremony and reception in the same place, but we didn't want to feel cramped or rushed as the rooms were switched over. Historic 1625 is beyond beautiful and was more than we ever expected for our ceremony and reception venue. The building speaks for itself no matter the decor. What we loved most is that we didn't have to provide much decorations to create the atmosphere we were looking for. We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at Historic. We highly recommend purchasing the Car Room for happy hour. Our guests loved it and it provided a nice transition from ceremony to reception. Not only is the venue itself amazing, but we loved working with Kellie and the other staff at Historic 1625. Kellie was beyond helpful with our entire planning process. She not only helped with floor planning for the event but also helped with all the details of the time line and was present for our rehearsal to help us figure out the flow of what would work best with our specific family and wedding party circumstances. Kellie also helped us find other vendors that resulted in a lot of savings; adding to the look of our wedding, that we would not have opted for due to price. The staff always responded to our calls and emails quickly and were beyond helpful in answering any kind of questions we had about details or planning. Another great aspect of Historic 1625 is that the tables and chairs are included in the price, with set up and take down, and the venue has the capacity to hold a large or small guest count and still be equally as beautiful and comfortable. This venue is a piece of work! They are so uncooperative and gave us the hardest time to reschedule despite there being a global pandemic! We booked this venue over a year ago & paid in full. They didn't even do anything, yet still kept $900 even though we cancelled our event. They were not helpful at all, and caused my husband and I so much unnecessary stress and hassle. We tried to talk to them calmly so many times to reach a common ground but they were so rude. we payed extra money for Saturday event for 2020, and due to rescheduling caused by the pandemic, they said we could only do Sunday- Friday next year and would have to pay even extra money $1500 more . Not to mention they did not let us reschedule until the a month prior to our event. All the other vendors involved rescheduled us early May without hesitation, but these people were after the money and did not care one bit about everything else involved. when I told them I had family coming from abroad so it wouldn't be save, they hit me with "just FaceTime them during the event". Due to everything being closed, there was no way I could get my outfits from India in time for the event, but Kellie and Kristen made it clear this wasn't their problem. I honestly wouldn't recommend this venue to anyone, they don't know how to treat their clients! If you decide to book this venue please make sure you read the contract! They love to use the contract to their benefit and against you. I talked to a legal attorney and could've taken them to court but I'm not going to waste my time & stoop to their level. I'm just so happy I'm not having my wedding at the venue anymore where I feel discriminated! Every time we asked for something the answer was no! They made one expectation for us to have Indian food & we paid extra money for them to approve the catering company. I understand it's a business but you don't have to treat your customers like shit! 1625 was one of the best choices we made in our wedding planning process! While the location on S Tacoma Way isn't exactly glamorous, the interior is beautifully designed. Floors are polished, beam ceilings are beautiful, and the separating wall with French doors are classy and practical. The two room design is perfect for a wedding--having the round table seating and dancing/bar separate was key to our day. Family members with hearing problems or a lack of dancing desire enjoyed sitting and chatting, while others danced the night away. The wall helps quiet the music on the other side of the DJ! 1625's event coordinators were responsive, professional, and a pleasure to work with. We got so many complements from our guests about our choice of venue. Also a huge plus--you can bring in your own alcohol! Our only complaint were the strange long horns mounted over the double doors; they didn't seem to fit the vibe of the spot, and we paid our florist to cover them with drapery. Other than that, the venue is gorgeous! What a gem for Tacoma; truly one of the only elegant, large-capacity indoor venues in the South Sound! read more

I got married at Historic on 3/24/18 and it was perfect!!!! Kellie, and everyone there, was so helpful throughout the entire process! I was able to come back a time or two to go over everything with them and we emailed throughout the process and they were always helpful. The day of the wedding was amazing. If anything went wrong, they never let me know it! It was absolutely beautiful and having the cocktail hour downstairs (with the cars) was a huge hit!
