Seligman is the "Birthplace of Historic Route 66". As one of the original towns along the famous Route 66 the store offered a lot of unique souvenirs that are perfect for taking home as a memento of your trip. They have a nice selection of stickers to choose from which I added a few to my collection. Oh, and try not to get too close to that old cowboy sitting by the window... I wasn't sure what to expect here, and walking in I saw that this store offered a good selection of hardware merchandise. They also had made in USA Lodge Logic cast iron products , a few made in USA t-shirts, candy, Route 66 sodas, jams, and even beer. You can pick up souvenirs and supplies all in one stop. read more

worst experience ever. racist staff who think that being disrespectful is ok. they assume things and judge you by the color of your skin immediately. this is probably the worse place to take your kids if you have a blended family. wouldn't recommend. they try to intimidate by yelling but hide when it comes time to be confronted. no de-escalation skills let alone customer service skills. read more

Check it out! If you are ever traveling on I-40 between Kingman and Flagstaff in Arizona, going either east or west, you out to stop at Seligman and get taste of history. Seligman was founded in 1886, but back then it was called "Prescott Junction" because it was the junction of the railroad from Prescott, AZ to the Santa Fe's main line. In 1886 it was renamed Seligman, after Jesse Seligman, who helped finance the railroad lines in the area. Seligman Commercial Historic District and some of the structures in it are individually listed in the National Register of Historic places. I do not believe the General Store is one of them, but regardless it is a great place to visit. You will find many pieces of merchandise that get your attention and you are likely to buy a souvenir or two. We must have spent at least 20-30 minutes walking through the isles and checking out stuff. And yes, we did not come out of the store empty handed! read more

We were embarking upon a road trip to The Grand Canyon. Along the way, my husband had mapped out some interesting places for us to visit. Knowing that I really like one of a kind novelty stores, he found The Historic Route 66 General Store. The general store is located in the town of Seligman which part of Route 66! You'll notice the 76 gas station out front and then the store is behind it. The exterior is reminiscent of the old west complete with the old time font in the signage. The wagon wheel bench is the cutest thing to have a seat on as you take a break from your long drive. Anyway, they sell a lot of one of a kind novelty gifts as well as necessities for your home. On one side of the shop, you'll find car parts and tools for locals. The other side is geared toward tourists looking gift Native American decor, Route 66 memorabilia, and knick knacks for your home. I was startled by what I thought was a statue. The sign said not to touch it because it's old and fragile. Since I'm a teacher, I know how to follow the rules. But all that I did was walk by it and it started talking and giving me a run down on the history of Route 66. I didn't get a photo of it because it caught me off guard and I jumped out of the way real quick. Nevertheless, prior to leaving, we picked up some stickers for our vehicles. I debated the live cacti magnets because I just knew that I'd hurt myself at some point. They also had this great assortment of sodas and other beverages that you don't see on a daily basis. I picked up some orange cream soda on the way out. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. She told us about the beauty of the Grand Canyon and really pumped us up for tomorrow's adventure. I also liked that she was on a first name basis with some of her customers. That small town feeling where everyone knows your name is quite refreshing. We wouldn't hesitate to stop by again when we're in the area. We stopped at the Historic Route 66 General Store on our road trip to Sedona, just to check it out. It's a great spot, with plenty of snack, drinks, souvenirs, and other retail options. We just looked around a bit, and I grabbed a Route 66 soda to try. (It was Cream Soda, and it was delicious.) Our service was quick and friendly. On this Special Thanksgiving of 2018, we were close to ending the year of adventure, but the lifetime experience moves on. In March, we took a long journey to Seattle taking stops during our thousand mile journey. This time we were closer to home, but wanted to experience another famous route. On our way to the Grand Canyon, I plotted stops on one of the famous routes, Route 66. Then I found another special place called, Historic Route 66 General Store in Seligman, AZ. **ADVISORY NOTICE** As of 11/23/2018, If you are headed eastbound, exit 121 to State Route 40, is closed due to bridge renovation/construction. However, exit 123 from the eastside is open. Please do stop by as the exit closure is an inconvenience. Located at the far west side of the city of Seligman, AZ, you can not miss one of the main attractions. It may look simple on the outside, but sure is a place to grab a couple of souvenirs and take some cool photos. When you walk in, we thought it was a simple store that sold gas and automotive parts. When you look to your right, a haven of Route 66 Souvenirs! SCORE!! I had seen Historic Route 66 General Store on Yelp, but not enough information to give me an assurance to stop. Naturally, I had to add my experience and my wife already wrote this review to certify this place as MUST STOP! There was a special section dedicated for Route 66 Souvenirs. Even a section for Christmas Souvenirs. If you need snacks/drinks, Yes, they will serve your needs. There is a gas station onsite as well. Even my wife got some Orange Cream Soda to take home with her. I got a AZ Scratcher to take home as well to try my luck. Historic Route 66 General Store had tons of merchandise of Historic Route 66. There were some interactions from the mannequin dolls as well as they scared my wife when you walk by them. She screamed pretty well and even the store employee apologized. The additional highlight was the female employee who gave us a great conversation as we were just passing through. We even talked about the exit closure which I can see is hurting business because tourists have to drive further away to get into the city of Seligman. Seligman, AZ is the Birthplace of the Historic Route 66. With us staying in Williams, AZ for our Thanksgiving Trip, I need to make a return visit to Santa Monica for the end trip of Route 66. Still planning the trip to Chicago, but that may be later in life. That will require a lot of time on the road. When you travel to the Grand Canyon or simply driving through AZ. After writing this, I just realized that I have passed Seligman, AZ through when I was headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am glad that I was able to share this historic moment with my wife. This is a great store for anything you might need (except the Mother Road metal sign I was looking for) and truly hits the mark as a "general store". They have everything you need for your car, truck or motorhome, which was a surprise. Their Route 66 selection of gear was good, but they didn't have a huge selection of women's T-shirt's to choose from. Two styles this time. No biggie. I bought a Route 66 shirt and two beer koozies. The woman behind the counter had a great sense of humor. I think her name was Jo? All I know is she likes shots of Skyy vodka and the glasses here are "defective". Haha!! Expensive. Everything I bought there was at least 50% less expensive at a place we stopped on the road a few miles west.

My son and his buddy was driving through on their way to LA. and got caught up in a bad snow storm. We lost contact with them for several hours and we knew they had stopped to get gas so I called requesting information on any accidents around the area. Ryan was the young man I spoke to and he was nothing respectful and helpful in relating any information he could provide. Took my information down, enlisted his gf to help track down any news pertaining to accidents in the area. Long story short, they were in a dead zone stuck in traffic due to accidents. I relayed the good news back to Ryan and he was relieved to hear of the good news. We need more good folks like him in this world. This is a terrific store with everything from necessities to frivolities--water, snacks, tools, jewelry and fuel. You can pick up postcards for the fam while your at it. Right on Historic Route 66,this retro spot is easy to get to and offers lot parking directly in front of the store. Staff were friendly and helpful. Situated between Kingman and Flagstaff, Arizona, the General Store served as a gas stop and a potty spot, as well as a knickknack shop, outwear store, and a pause for witty local conversation. This Californian didn't realize it snowed in the desert, so I stocked up on snow gloves and a ridiculous looking pink hat equipped with ear-flaps and fur. I tried the hat on for the clerk and he swore I looked fine. My brother, on the other hand, laughed. At the front near the register the store has a bucket of classic Coca-Colas - you know, the ones with cane sugar. Perfect for my bro who doesn't drink coffee (crazy, I know) and needed a quick sugar rush after five hours on the road. The staff was super friendly and we chatted it up with them a bit about our travel plans. They were knowledgeable about the area and accommodations. read more

We stopped here once before when we desperately needed to fill up for gas. Came here also to get our fix of Arizona huckleberry jam. The prickly pear and huckleberry-flavored licorice twists were OK at best and tasted not too much different from Twizzlers. All in all, a pretty awesome place with a bunch of get-to-you stuff that we didn't need, but was cool to look at. They have you covered if you need hardware, tools and cleaning supplies. The older guy working here (Shawn) is a very interesting and funny fellow to talk to and gave us some pointers on detours when we were on our way to Prescott and the exit for the 89 was closed. read more

DO NOT STOP AT THIS STORE**** If I could give zero stars I would. The women who work here were the most rude women I've ever encountered in a store in my life. The store is disorganized, shelves are packed and they sat back and watched while we struggled to pick out what we needed. When one thing fell on the ground the lady came over and began to accuse us of breaking things on purpose so we could get them for cheaper. Proceeded to get even more mad when we explained we wanted the more expensive one on the top and the small crack in the case of the one that jumped off the shelf was a mistake. She snapped and told us we had to buy the one we didn't want, that we couldn't look around anymore and that we had to leave immediately. So much for small town hospitality, especially during a time of no tourists we are passing through to spend our money and we're rudely told we were not welcome. I hope this store has a talk with their staff and that this doesn't happen to anyone else. Very disappointed, would not recommend. Go down the road two minutes and you will be greated by some lovely staff. read more

So the absence of anchovies is acceptable considering it's such an obscure item in such an obscure, historic place in the middle of the Mohave Desert. Our Historic Route 66 venture was fun while the storekeepers kept us informed, entertained & appeased with trinkets, cold drinks & laughter, all 15 minutes prior to closing time at 9PM! It's plum full of so many souvenirs, refreshments & great spirit of the old Route 66 traditions. Although Seligman, Arizona is much too easily over looked at 75 miles per hour from Interstate 40, the layover of 30 minutes should be made to enjoy the artistry of yesteryear and Americana on roids! First, I want to say 3 stars because we had one positive 5 star experience and one one star experience. The lady, Nicole?, in the morning offered to have her husband go jump our car and had the number to a mobile mechanic since the repair place next door, Route 66 24 Hour Tow and Car Repair (avoid them if you can), is closed on the weekends. She helped us charge the $160 booster pack and let us hang out in the shade with our dogs and go into their clean cool bathroom. It has a shower too, didn't use it, but someone might. She told us which places in town that will take our 3 dogs. When we got back into town after the mobile repair failure, the girls at night told us that the repair/tow place next door is actually open, but they don't advertise it because it is only the brothers on the weekend. These brothers by the way do not repair cars. We stayed overnight as it was almost 9 PM to wait for the repair place to open. They are closed completely on the weekends, but they have mobile mechanics that do freelance at the shop on the weekend, another yelp story. read more

Their pump was broken and overfilled and spilt gas all over the side of my car (and I'm not even sure how much). When I went inside they didn't even apologize or offer a refund of any sort (even after making a soda purchase). They even admitted to their gas pump being broken (key word: admitted) and didn't put up a notice or a warning or anything. Not to mention it's a slow pump and expensive af. We have stopped here twice during our travels to Spring Training! We have found some of the best RTE 66 souvenirs for our collection. Great place to stop and stretch. Easy access from I-40. I highly recommend taking a trip down this historic route and stopping at this store. read more

On our way to Grand Canyon had to stop and to our surprise a fantastic collection of Hwy 66 memorabilia. However, the best pickled eggs ever I now wish I had bought a case. Maybe, Incan call and have some shipped to Oregon or ask for the recipe that I will probably not make, or I might just have to take a small side trip back. read more

Cute store on Route 66 opposite to restaurants. If you fill up gas (76 brand) here for 5 gallons or more you get a free 16oz soda from the store. Went inside and grabbed the drink and they have plenty of souvenirs of Route 66. Metal signs, native Indian artifacts, Coca-Cola branded souvenirs, hardware items too. Restroom is to the back of the store and they look historic too lol. Old but kept clean. read more

Very poor customer service. Walked in and I was very bluntly asked "you looking for the bathroom?" Umm no. Do you have postcards. I was waved to a general area and told, over there. My children each had their own money to pay and were told they don't accept bills over $5. Really? In a tourist gift shop? It was actually a very pleasant store. Nicely stocked with trappings to reel you in. Just the stuff we were looking for. But this woman was very rude. And, she stared at my prosthetic leg the whole time until I commented. My husband gathered our things. Went and got the items she took away from my children at the cash register that they tried to pay for, and paid. She took his money. And complimented him. Hmmmm. Still would go back as I have my eye on a couple things but am waiting until the last little bit to buy souvenirs. Just hope she's not there. Or at the very least pleasant. Very clean. Gas is extremely high. It was about 4:30 pm and the female cashier smelled strongly of alcohol. I can't imagine the management allowing staff to work intoxicated. Will make me hesitate to ever stop here again. read more

In August of 2012, at the time we left our town of Puyallup WA. It was me my fiancee' and we both have two children. Each of us having a 16yo and a 13 yo each. We headed out to go see the Grand Canyon and Tombstone AZ. We noticed we were going to need gas, we stopped at Seligman AZ. which happened to be the beginning of Rt 66.Before we got to that point however, we all became a family in Las Vegas NV. The only people who were there to witness this was all four of our children, being the only ones we cared being there. So we got gas, we ate, and I bought a black fleece jacket from the Rt 66 General Store. well I think I wore it twice and lost it some how. I found the receipt a few months back, I called to find out if they still had them. The gentleman I spoke with said it was a product they brought in every year. At the time I called they were out, it was however the middle of summer. I was told to call back in September. I did, they had them in and we figured out how to get one shipped to me. They went way beyond figuring out how to get one to me. The people there are great. Everyone in that town is a pleasure to be around. So if it says that it is one of the nicest places to visit.
