Stopped at the Snow Cap on a visit to Seligman, AZ. They were crazy busy for a Wednesday morning! CASH ONLY! No cards accepted! Since we were too early for lunch, we just got a snack. They make good fries and a small but great root beer float. The staff was very nice and there are a lot of decorations to see. Based on multiple recommendations, we stopped by Delgadillo's Snow Cap on our Route 66 trip to Arizona. Let's start off with what was good and worth 5 stars. The staff were funny, interactive, and witty. They're quick on their feet, so you better think fast! There was a very nostalgic feel to the place and the decor was cool. The food came out quickly and was pipping hot! There is only outdoor seating, so you can bring your dogs. What was only okay and the reason for the 4 stars - I think this place is overhyped. The food was what I would expect from a fast food diner. Nothing special or exciting, which is disappointing based on all the good reviews. The line wasn't that long - there were maybe 5 people in front of us, and it took 15-20 minutes for us to order. I can only imagine how long the wait would be on a busy day. read more

Such a quirky place. The people taking our order were very friendly, but they will tease you a bit and crack jokes. They fit the ambiance well because the place looks like it belongs in a cartoon. The food wasn't bad. Worth a stop to get some ice cream for the kids. read more

The frustrating part is the way the line is to order. You come in on one side and wait then people come in from the other side and take cuts. There should be some type of direction. We order the dipped ice creams I got mine then 5 minutes later my husband got his, His ice cream was half the size of mine for the same price. read more

This place is overrated. It's all Hyped up for no reason. It's just your mediocre burger diner. What made it terrible was the wait for our food. I ordered 2 cheeseburgers w/fries, chicken nuggets, 2 shake, a drink and an ice cream cone. It was paid at 1:08 pm. I noticed other customers who ordered after me have already received their food. I went to inquire and was told it was being wrapped up now. This was the 2nd time they told me the same information. I asked why the other orders after me was being sent out first. First excuse was it a small kitchen, then your order slip got mixed up. I think my order slip was not in the line up. After 7 minutes I went to inquire I received my food. Cheeseburger was salty, the sweet potatoes fries were burnt and salty. I felt this was done intentionally because I inquired about it loudly in front of other customers. I have 2 little ones that were hungry. After standing in line for 40 minutes and waiting an hour for our food AND to have the food salty! I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN! I shouldn't have tipped. I'm in disbelief in all the times we've driven through and walked around Seligman that we never thought to stop into Delgadillo's until a couple weeks ago. This place is kitschy & quirky in all of the best ways. We popped in for a couple twist soft serve cones and the ladies running the shop were not only friendly, but extremely humorous too! Our cones were $3 and delicious, especially on a warm day. We enjoyed walking around their plot of land to look at all the fun artwork and pieces of Route 66 history. They do have 2 restrooms on-site; a joint outhouse that was clean and well maintained. I don't know how we missed this so many times before, but we definitely won't miss a stop for soft serve cones ever again! read more

Stopped by here on our week long nation park road trip, which just happened to be a part of Route 66. They love to play jokes on their customers, so be warned! The milkshakes are a must here. They even won the Guinness World Record for largest display of milkshake varieties at 266 flavors. The food on the other hand was alright. I got the chorizo burger, which was essentially just the chorizo patty on a toasted hamburger bun. Wished they threw in lettuce and a tomato, but it's their original recipe so doubt they'll do that. read more

This is a very unique fast food joint that transports you into the Disney movie "Cars." On the way back from hiking Havasu Falls, we stopped here to grab a bite to eat. We were all ravenous after 10 miles of hiking in the sun. I opted for a turkey burger, which was the only non fried option, as my stomach was not feeling great at the time. The turkey patty was juicy and flavorful and came with the perfect toppings and really hit the spot. My friends got burgers and sweet potato fries, and an ice cream cone. We were all very satisfied. Check out the bathrooms while you are there. They have a unique outhouse/phone booth feel a toilet and sink included. The one or fashioned cars and "garden," also offer some "Cars" charm. read more

Juan Delgadillo, Original Owner (brother of Angel) Seligman AZ Really wanted to stop by this roadside attraction in Seligman known for its burgers and shakes... but mostly for its quirky sense of humor and playful antics. Unfortunately they are temporarily closed for the season and will be reopening in the spring. Outside something caught my eye, a roadside attraction, a modified vehicle? actually an old 1936 Chevrolet that was sliced off the roof, and a Christmas tree on the back... what da?? We walked the perimeter and behind the restaurant we found Juan's Garden stuffed full of a paradise of kitschy knickknacks. There are vintage cars, a bench with a Route 66 face-in-hole photo op, hand-painted signs, a phone booth with a toilet bowl inside and a menagerie of found objects put together in interesting ways. We enjoyed our burger & fries, but even more enjoyed our interaction with the staff of this wonderful spot. You order inside, make sure u close the door quickly, and exit out the other side in a covered seating area. They call your name, and you grab your food at the window on the side, and if you are lucky, some more laughs. Quirky little town. This was the inspiration for the movie CARS. Simple burger shack. This is a stop just to all around. Ordered the Chorizo burger. It was yummy. Has a little kick. Their milkshake choices was plenty. Caramel milshake was not too sweet but blended right. Food turnaround was slow, I mean SLOW. Took them 15 mins for the order. The food is pretty good and there is the biggest variety of shake flavors there according to Guinness. Shakes were also pretty good try the hot fudge and peanut butter. We went out of our way on the drive back from the grand canyon to visit here and it didn't disappoint. Such a fun vibe and the kids loved the cars inspired them. We drove to Seligman to see one of the places that inspire the movie cars and delgadillo's had several cars that looks like the cars characters. This place was a charming must-visit! We visited Delgadillo's when our tour stopped at Angelo's Barbershop to showcase the celebration of Route 66. We went in with the expectation of just grabbing a quick treat to cool off. And the milkshake was perfect for that - tasted great& was a generous portion worth the price. But the real value of this place comes with the decor, the kitsch, & the pure gusto and joy of the service. Along with our milkshake, we were served a practical joke & a few puns! Very solid one star... I am not sure where all the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from other than maybe a sympathetic generous review for a small town rt 66 stop. The food was terrible... the cheeseburgers very very clearly a frozen wholesale warehouse burger patty. The onion rings were hard. The one star comes from the milkshake that was alright at best. It was was just under $40 for two cheeseburgers, a small portioned side of onion rings and two milk shakes. Service was basic although the cashier was friendlier to the locals. This was a definitely a fun stop on Route 66 for many reasons. I waited a long time to eat here and visit and it was one of the few places that lived up to my expectations. In addition to eating here, there's a lot to see beyond this place - like check out their "backyard" where they have strange sculptures and beat up cars. I could spend a big moment talking about the Delgadillo family (the family that saved Route 66) but it's better to read up on them. Juan (who passed away a couple decades ago) owned the place and he built it out of scrap material during the 1950s. He was best known for his sense of humor which still shines today ("Dead Chicken" and "Cheeseburger with Cheese" are menu items; sometimes the staff plays pranks on customers). His brother, Angel, ran the barbershop just a couple doors down. The food here was delicious. They do have a great menu as they are known for their burgers, fries and shakes (with the fries you get a happy face one!) but they also have burritos, green chili and veggie burgers too. I rarely get milkshakes because of my lactose issues but I had to get the butterscotch shake which was excellent. They have lots of outdoor seating but they also have indoor seating too. Well, Delgadillo's is known for Route 66 kitsch, and the vibes are indeed immaculate. As others have said, the cashiers have various pleasant jokes, complete with imaginary mustard. That said, the chocolate malted was good but nothing super spectacular--nice malt flavor, blended well, refreshing on a hot day, but not any better than any other malted. But if you're in Seligman, you're probably after charm more than tastiness, so it works out. read more

What a fun place to stop and look around! There aren't too many places to find food, restrooms, or much of anything else on this particular stretch of Route 66. We just had the ice cream here, but in the dessert heat, boy was ice-cream a sight for sore eyes. I fell for the 'door handle on the wrong side of the door' gag. Ha!
