I have been fishing all over the country and this is one of the best equipped boats I've seen. We went out for king Salmon 3 times with these guys and we weren't disappointed. We caught Kings all three trips and they worked so hard with 12-14 poles out trolling at once. The boat deck was very comfortable and of course it had a bathroom on board. The gear, poles, rigs, electronics and downriggers where all top knotch. Kudos to these guys...price was very reasonably priced compared to other charters I've been on. We had a blast and can't wait to get back. He gave me a $50 gift certificate to the microbrewery in town as well. I was alone in a boat half the size of his fighting a 25# fish when he came towards me to within 50 feet demanding to tell him what depth and color my fish came at before he would turn away. My boat was on autopilot so it wasn't like I was weaving around. He intentionally targeted my space just to be an asshole and thought he was being funny. Don't use him if you're a real sportsman! There are good captains out there that are true sportsmen.

The road to the entrance is full of sand dunes and beaches on Lake Michigan before turning into a wooded area at the actual park. We got to see a Bald Eagle perched upon a tree as we entered the park. The park has several RV camp sites that to me looked to be right on top of each other. They pack them in like sardines but I think that is the norm at these type of places these days. Not sure what the cost is to camp but for non-residents to come in for a day pass it was 11.00 per day. We decided to do the Lost Lake trail which is a loop across a couple islands on Hamlin Lake (yes there are bridges, you don't need to bring your snorkel). The hike was relatively void of people only passing a few along the way. I did see a hand full of people kayaking on the lake and a few more kayaks parked on the bank near the campground. The hike is 2.1 miles long and relatively flat the whole way. I wanted to do the lighthouse trail as well but there wasn't enough time. Great place to get your nature fix via kayak or foot. Not sure I would want to camp here on a weekend though unless you want Billy Bob and Mary Sue's 7 rugrats running around your site screaming.

Josh and Tess were so friendly. They made us feel like family. The river is just amazing and they sit on so much of it. Normally we would have the camping gear packed up after Labor Day, but this place had us camping into the middle of October. We fished for Salmon, got to watch the fall season unfold and even got to partake in their Halloween festivities. We look forward to many more memories at this family owned and operated campground.
