We have never been paddle boarding before but have always wanted to try it. Kelly was so kind and patient when we initially inquired about the rental process. When we decided to go ahead and take the plunge and just do it making the appointment was very simple. The website was user friendly and easy to navigate. We showed up for our appointment and she had everything ready to go. She made sure that our life jackets were on properly and did not skip a single step. Her instructions and demonstrations on how to actually use the paddle board were easy to follow and very thorough. She also made sure that we were comfortable with our paddle boards before leaving. Out on the lake we got to see SO much wildlife, it was nothing like being in a motorized boat that's for sure. I have never considered myself athletic by any means and am far from being in shape but thanks to the equipment she provided as well as amazing instructions and answering all of my questions I can say I mastered the paddle board in no time! We…read morestayed in the Class Act lodge which was superb, and such a convenient location for having to wake up at 4am and be on the boat! A beautiful 34 foot Tiara boat fully equipped. We had 13 lines out, and caught eight beautiful king salmon in a torrential downpour over about five hours. Afterwards the fish were completely cleaned, skinned, and de-boned for us afterwards. Our freezer looks wonderful right now! Would definitely return. Good value for the money. The lodge was a little pricy-- 40 dollars per person seemed cheap, but when there were six of us and we paid $240 dollars for one night, it seems a little steep. Don't hesitate to give them a call and schedule your next charter! :)

Want a peaceful place to stay? This would be it. Granted I was there early through mid-week, not…read morearound a holiday or during one of the major fish runs in the Little Manistee River, but I had the place to myself, heard little vehicle traffic on the nearby roads, or much of anything besides birds during the day and owls and coyotes at night. The sites are well shaded and the ground was free of rocks--I could push in my tent stakes. Most looked reasonably level, and several would hold a medium sized trailer or motorhome easily, if that's how you roll. Water is from a hand pump and was clear and good tasting, not rusty as you often find at primitive campgrounds. It will leave lime on your pots, though. The outhouse was fairly clean, well stocked with TP. The extra long picnic table and lantern hanger at the site proved very handy. There are a couple of group camping areas. Trails lead from some of the sites down to the river, though some are not easy to follow. The best river access is between the group campgrounds. Getting to Bear Track, or from it to other area attractions, can be challenging due to the tangle of dirt roads weaving through the national forest. But the solitude and quiet here make this minor nuisance tolerable.

Included as 1 of 3 courses in Mason County Park, the Beauty is the shortest & easiest course in the…read morepark. While it's the easiest of the 3, it is still a great course. The park which hosts the courses is a beautiful park with a couple of great views of Lake Michigan & the seclusion in the park is great. One thing about the course being on the water is that there is traditionally quite a bit of wind. Because the course is shorter, there are more deuce holes than not, but there is also a little bit of trouble that you can find yourself in. The course has a good variety of shots, good signs & a good overall layout. If you're an advanced disc golfer, try the beast or the Goliath (unless you want all 3). If you're looking for an easier task, the Beauty is a great course.
