I've been looking for a good contractor for a while - I've had problems in the past with inconsistent communication, crappy work, and straight up no-shows. Hugo is a fantastic, detail-oriented painter who offers a fair price for exceptional work. He painted an outdoor trellis for me that was part of a newly constructed outdoor tile deck. I had to fire my previous contractor for sub-par work, including some issues with the trellis. As Hugo was preparing the trellis for painting, he pointed out that some of the cedar wood used to wrap the pressure-treated wood was very thin in spots, and he said it would not last more than a couple of seasons. It turned out that the previous contractor bored out a large amount of the cedar wood to accommodate the metal hangers used to strengthen the trellis. Instead of filling the void with caulk or liquid nails, as he should have, my previous contractor just left that space empty, and Hugo alerted me to this issue. Other painters would have painted over the area and moved on, but Hugo doesn't work like that - he has pride in his work, and it shows. He cut out that thin area of wood, bought replacement cedar wood, used a chisel to gouge out the necessary amount of wood, then filled the void full of liquid nails, reattached everything, and finally epoxied the joint, so it is now invisible. Hugo wasn't happy with a section of the painted trellis, so he applied an extra layer of alcohol-based primer, then sprayed oil-based primer and coated it with three layers of paint until he was happy. Hugo did that work at no extra cost to me, as he wanted the project perfect. Painting is all about the prep work, and Hugo had his guys sanding my trellis for days - it's clear they know their craft and cut NO corners. His crew worked politely and cleanly, working hard to finish the project on time. I highly recommend Hugo and his crew for any painting needs, and I'll be using him myself for any future projects. read more

When my tenants moved out their cat left a parting gift and sprayed in the back corner of the bathroom, and it ended up sitting for a couple days . Lots of drywall and repair contractors refused flat out, but Hugo called back and we scheduled a time for him to come out. We discussed a lot of details over the phone (size of are affected, did I have baseboard & what type was it, etc) and he gave me a time frame & cost estimate with the understanding that, if the damage was more than what I'd found with my own probing, we'd talk about next steps. Scheduling was hard at first, as he had a number of other projects at the time. But he ended up having a cancelation one morning and called me to see if I was able for him to come over 'right now'. I totally was and what a relief! He arrived with everything he figured he'd need from our phone call (remember, my appointment with him wasn't even scheduled for that day but for the following week #preparation), including a few lengths of baseboard which were technically all the same kind but had small differences so that he'd be able to match my baseboard seamlessly. We did end up needing to replace a small portion of flooring, but he ran to the store and picked that up right away (it maybe set us back 30minutes). I contacted Hugo to repair and repaint a bathroom that had been damaged from an upstairs apartment bathroom leak. Hugo responded very quickly and was able to generate a comprehensive and professional proposal outlining what he was going to do.
