I used to come here, but since there's a branch way closer to home I've been at the other. However…read morei did get a specialty test run recently, and im not sure if the ordered test targeting what i was in pain for. Either way it'll get sorted out, the physician whom performed the test was very professional, quick and efficient. The nurses whom did my intake was nice and got me in a room early. Parking is open with $6 validation paid to any of the check in desks on any floor.

One of the positives about Atrius is its many locations. However, this is analogous to having a…read morelarge portion of a terrible meal. This is Atrius. While I'm not a high-needs patient and have minimal visits, my time with Atrius over many years personally, and with different family members, is like death by a thousand cuts. "We'll have someone call you back to make an appointment." Nobody called me back to make an appointment. This was the final straw and why I'm now looking to finally sever ties with Atrius. Atrius Kenmore, but really Atrius in many other Boston/great Boston locations, across primary and specialty care, has consistently proven itself to be lacking in putting the patient first. The patient experience is poor: the pharmacy calling my spouse to let them know my medication is ready (their reply: whoops, we called the wrong number, sorry), clinics consistently cancel appointments and offer to reschedule months later, wait times in the larger waiting room, and in the patient room are unpredictable and they do not let you know how much of a delay there will be. If we're supposed to arrive 15 minutes early, at least have the courtesy of being on time or communicating that the clinic is running late. Some of the top examples of poor processes: As the doctor finishes my exam, they say: "I'll send someone in to update your immunizations." 15 minutes later, nobody came in for the immunizations. I walk in the hall to find a nurse to explain the situation, and they say, "We didn't know you were waiting to update your shots." Come on. Or, doing the initial intake in the clinic room, with the scale and ruler literally in the same space. The assistant asks me, "What is your height and weight?" I suggested we measure both with the equipment in front of us. Come on, that's just lazy. And, aren't you suppose to objectively document that sort of thing if I'm packing on a few or have shrunk? Otherwise, my answer will be 6'3 and 224 lbs (IYKYK). Or, calling the patient relations office to discuss some of my concerns. They probably do not want to hear it, which is my guess for why they did not return my call. I even left a voicemail. Do better, patient relations. It's not often I leave voicemails. Office staff are a mixed bag - some are nice (truly a delight), some should consider positions elsewhere (perhaps scaring birds in a field). Using the Atrius email system to communicate is also hit or miss. Sometimes they respond, sometimes not. The lab personnel are pretty good, no real complaints with my interactions with them. They have mad (good) phlebotomy skills. My one minor complaint is if the service is supposed to open/come back from lunch at a certain time, the office staff should be there/back by that time, not minutes later. This is not island time, patients have places to be when they're not being patients. Calling urgent care after hours/on weekends has also been pretty good. I like this service. Health care is generally stretched, and clinics have to work with the resources they have. The parent organization of Atrius has a profit, not just revenue, in the billions. The poor patient experience starts at the top with resource allocation and training and trickles down to the stressors of the local level. Each member of Atrius has the responsibility to not just do the best they can, but to actually do good and make it easy for the patient. There needs to be a giant reset. Atrius, do better. Having to find new doctors for my family is going to be a burden. I'm willing to put in the effort because Atrius is broken on many levels. No more inertia or naive optimism that Atrius will improve. As I write this yelp review, I also see other 1-star reviews across the years in the margin. Channeling the Lorax, I believe that Atrius does not care a whole awful lot. Nothing is going to get better. It's not. I'm fortunate to live in an area where there are many doctor offices and hospitals. My experience with Atrius has set a floor for expectations. It can't get worse than this. I'm betting my family's next doctor's office will be better. In all probability, it will.

With the highly regarded GI department within the whole BIDMC network, I decided to give the ED a try rather than traveling a little further. I was very impressed with how taken care of I was - they had phone chargers available for me to keep my family updated and took my pre-existing conditions very seriously. I was in a positive pressure room with notices to be mindful of my compromised immune system/other factors. The nurses and transport team members who took care of me were very wonderful, as were the residents assigned to my case. While I quickly got symptom relief, I was discharged following tests/imaging that came back as nonemergent. This made complete sense, but I never got clear follow-up from anyone about abnormal lab work or anything. Even the nurses discharging me seemed confused about this. They also sent me home at about 3am, which was a little frustrating as I wasn't given clear information why. My levels plus it being the middle of the night should have warranted an overnight stay, and I never got a major follow-up from anyone which was a little irritating. I ended up talking further with my specialist about everything. Overall, I appreciated how well I was taken care of, but had a subpar experience with communication from the team taking care of me.

But this experience was HORRENDOUS!! The doctor absolutely butchered my skin, leaving 4 inch x 1 inch divots in my skin for moles smaller than a dime. The worst part is that she did this in front of medical students so they were learning how to butcher other patients. Unfortunately these scars were on my back, so I couldn't stop the process. If I'd known, I would have gotten off the table and cursed her out in front of her students. Maybe then she would have learned to treat the human body with respect???!!!! Oh, and don't get me started with their "photography", or lack there of...they absolutely do NOT take appropriate photographic records that will be helpful to future dermatologists. The photos that were taken of my back had NO reference points, so you couldn't tell if the photo was of my leg, stomach, arm, or back. Truly, the process, lack of systematic examination and record keeping, the violation of a human body, and the insensitive manner of the doctor were beyond unprofessional...Sadistic would be a good term for the experience. At the end of the day, she obviously was a Sadist. Future doctors, PLEASE understand that you are treating a human, not a car or inanimate object. Minimizing scarring is a big part of good dermatology as it allows the patient to feel *better* about a traumatic event. Treat your patients with respect and they won't write BAD YELP REVIEWS... And for those of you med students who think you are getting the "Best" of medical training...head West, far West. The medical care in California is FAR superior to that I've received in Boston. Hmmm...that reminds me, I really must post some nice reviews for the many docs in CA that I respect and enjoyed being in their care.
