Folks say the TPSS coop is expensive and that can be true. But: I love it for its bargains…read more First, the bulk section. So many everyday and unusual products at a fraction of the price you would pay for the same thing in little bottles, boxes or jars. My favorites are oatmeal and spices. Second, the wine section often has good prices on decent wines. Not easy to find these days. Some of them are organic. And finally, there are some freshly prepared foods that make the co-op a destination store for me. Sushi. And those spicy samosas that are kept in the warmer near the soups. Especially the cabbage one! Apparently they are made by Zemen, the Ethiopian grocery on Maple, so you could also look for them there. That is the co-op the way I experience it. But it is waiting for you to discover your own - the possibilities are endless

The store has a much better flow, with the produce located where the cashiers used to be. Yes this place is in fact more expensive than a traditional grocery store, but the bulk section with one of the only bulk season spots in the area. Excellent selection of food products, staff is kind and down to earth, and it really feels like your local grocer because it is!! I'd rather spend my money here than at Whole Foods or some other corporate entity.

First off, someone needs to check that they're allowed to charge $0.20 per bag. Last I checked,…read morethat's not the rate in Maryland. That's what we were charged last week when we visited; I was shocked because nowhere else I've been to in MD charges that much for bags. So are they wrongly charging customers for their bags?! Second, horrible customer service. Very, very rude checkout lady last weekend when we visited. She had such an attitude & for no reason. Quite disappointing as I've been visiting this market for years and now I won't be returning because you don't treat patrons with disdain and disrespect and you don't overcharge them for your mistakes. They charged me extra for bags even though the bag they gave me that I had already paid for ripped & broke! It wasn't my fault you overstuffed the bag & then when it breaks you're upset because I ask for another bag that's not now broken. Horrible! I went ahead and paid for the extra bags (mind you $0.20/bag) - even though I didn't agree, but that's absolutely not right!

For a wine bar, I expected a slightly more elevated experience…read more I like that there was outdoor seating (It was a beautiful day when we visited), however there was no one to tell us whether to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. I was waiting for my friend to arrive and countless times the staff walked past me without a word or a glance: no greeting, no invitation to see myself, not even asking if I needed help...nothing. Just incredibly unwelcoming. If I hadn't made such a significant time investment trying to secure a parking space, I would have left immediately. After my friend arrived, we flagged down one of the servers who told us that we could seat ourselves outside. We did so and ordered a round of cocktails: an Aperol Spritz for me and Air Mail for my friend, along with a charcuterie board. The seating outside was picnic benches with chipped paint. Our charcuterie board arrived long before our drinks did. We were half done with the board by the time the drinks arrived. The charcuterie board was delivered with no plates and only one napkin for two people. Additionally, because there were no plates, a significant amount of our charcuterie board ended up on the picnic table. The board had lots of items on it and it was very difficult to remove an item or slice some cheese without something else sliding off. The cocktails were decent. Not the best we've had, but also not the worst. They were inconsistent though. The first two I had were much better than the last one, which tasted distinctly different. When we decided to get food, I ordered the chicken schnitzel sandwich while my friend got the Cubano sandwich. In most places, when you order a sandwich, fries are included. Not here. But at least my sandwich was served on an aluminum tray. My friend received her sandwich wrapped in paper. No plate; Just wrapped up like it was to-go. Since no fries were included with her sandwich she ordered a side of the chili cheese fries instead. She ate a few of them but I could tell by her face (and the fact that the bowl remained largely untouched after those few initial fries) that they were not good. My sandwich was okay. Just ok. It arrived warm, not hot, so I'm not sure if it was freshly made. Flavor-wise it was a little bland. I think it probably would have been better served just as schnitzel and not as a sandwich. For dessert, I ordered one of their oversized chocolate chip cookies. Again, it was just not good. Chocolate chip cookies are fairly hard to mess up but this one was just... Bad. It had more of a cake-like consistency... And not even very good cake. I took one bite and that was one too many. Between the difficulty finding parking, the general aloofness of the staff, and the terrible food... I'd recommend passing on this place.

Kale salad is good but a little over dressed and salty, in my opinion. Be mindful there's not a lot of parking spaces. You'll find free street parking if you just drive around a bit, but it does require a brief walk in a hilly neighborhood. Nom nom nom!
