I run a business. If I operated the way Hoag Imaging operates, I would not have one. I waited an hour past my appointment time. Patiently. I watched a steady stream of patients get up to ask the front desk how much longer it would be. The answer was the same every time: we don't know. Sit down. Wait. When I was finally called up, it was not to be seen. It was to be told they don't accept my insurance. The exact insurance we provided when we booked. The exact insurance they confirmed when they took the appointment. An hour of my life burned because nobody at this office bothered to verify a single line of information before I drove in and sat down. The woman behind me in line had been waiting two hours past her appointment. Still not seen. The receptionist was lovely. That is not the issue. The issue is that this entire operation has decided patients are a captive audience. That our time has no value. That "we don't know" is a complete sentence. That confirmed appointments are suggestions and posted appointment times are decorative. Hospitals and imaging centers seem to think they get to behave like the DMV. They do not. There are other providers. There are other systems. And I will be using them. Run your front office. Verify insurance before the appointment, not after. Communicate with the people sitting in your lobby. Treat the appointment time as a commitment, not a placeholder. Until then, save people the trip. Hands-down, the worst experience at a doctors office. You guys are an absolute embarrassment. read more

My primary care only recommended me for an ultrasound, but the male Asian doctor pretty much forced me to get a mammogram and now I have $1000 bill that I have to pay. I'm only 30 years old and I did not have any abnormalities (just some fibrous tissue) that my primary care was too concerned about and told me I did not need to get a mammogram for this. Just a basic check up. Upon the appointment, I had told the hospital staff I was not going to get a mammogram and they agreed. However, the doctor kept pushing me I ended up crying in the doctors office because of how pushy he was. Literally forcing unnecessary pressure on a young patient who vocalized multiple times did not want a mammogram but the doctor said he would not write me a diagnosis if I didn't. The robe had been warmed, which was a nice touch - I have never a warm robe at other facilities. I didn't have to wait long for my exam. It's been a few years since my last visit at the Woodbridge location. I like the Hoag network and freaked out a little bit over the summer when they had not come to an agreement with my insurance. But they did and now I can continue to see my doctors. My most recent visit last week was efficient. I checked in with the reception staff and waited maybe 5 minutes before I was called into the changing area. I needed additional imaging as requested by my doctor. My scans began as soon as I was finished changing. The staff was really kind and once my scans were complete, the doctor on staff reviewed and discussed his findings with me. While I was waiting, it was so quiet and peaceful that I fell asleep for a minute. The doctor came into the exam room and I was advised to come back in a few months for additional imaging and scans. Oh boy. It took a few days for the letter to come through instructing me to return for imaging and a few more days before the scheduler called me to make an appointment. For the most part, I'm taking it in stride as part of growing older. At least I have health insurance. read more

I come to this location for my annual mammograms and I have been satisfied with the service that I have received. The check in process is also quite smooth. I was referred to this office recently after some suspicious findings on my annual screening mammogram. I went in for one appointment for a diagnostic mammogram and breast ultrasound. Both techs were friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable. It's never an easy time going into an appointment knowing you're there because of concerns about cancer, but the staff was so warm and friendly. I did end up needing a biopsy. That wasn't great for my anxiety, but the nurse assisting was amazing as well, I wish I remembered her name! I feel like giving them no star but it is not fair for this hospital, because this hospital deserves 5 stars but the medical system deserves no star, so I just stay neutral and give 3stars. I came in for mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. All staff here are so friendly and nice. The technicians are so nice and courteous as well. I definitely felt very comfortable through out all the tests. I am from Korea, this visit is my first medical experience in California. I noticed that medical system here is very complicated, time consuming, inconvenient for patients and expensive. In Korea, Doctor would go over with the patient after all the tests, but here they don't do that. Simply my doctor came in to ultrasound room and told me nothing wrong. And asked my opinion if I want the biopsy so I agreed because I wanted to find out clearly. (I had a swollen lump underarm so doctor also suggested if I wanted biopsy even though it didn't look like a cancer in ultrasound monitor) Also, in Korea, biopsy will be done right there if needed, but here I need to find out if my insurance covers it and make another appointment! By that time, I might get either worse, or get much better. In Korea, biopsy test result will be out in a couple of hours. But here it takes a week! More over, the test is sent out to separate labs! They don't have the labs inhouse...! Wow. The worst part is, I have to go to a different location to see my biopsy result! When I got there, the doctor who operated my biopsy wasn't there, I talked to someone else! The whole experience was very shocking, new and taught me a lesson. First, people here should deserve better than this I believe. (Btw thank to my husband paying a lot for insurance so all my tests were fully covered but, it shouldn't be this expensive! Poor Californian! Medical insurance is sooooooooooo cheap in Korea and no confusing regulations, policies, no nothing, Simple and easy!) Second, don't get sick. Eat well, work out hard, laugh a lot. That is what I learned. I now understand why gyms here are packed. This country shouldn't offer darn cheap fast food, bigger and bigger soda cups and french fries, instead, must offer darn cheap medical insurance and faster, easier, simpler hospital system!!! Came here after having a weird pain in my hip, being the paranoid person that I am I had to get to the bottom of it! I came in without an insurance card (came here unscheduled) and they were very nice in trying to get my doctor to fax a copy over, everyone was very nice and patient. got everything squared away and waited a bit to get called in, the lady who took my x-ray was very nice as well, I had a few random questions and she was very patient and encouraged my questions. I was in and out quick! and back to work! Hopefully I won't need their services anytime soon but they were a great first experience! read more

I just had my annual physical, thinking to have annual mammogram done at the same day as well. So I went to Hoag imaging and breast center to see if they are opening for walk-in. Elva Urias is the check-in staff who helped me. She's not just patiently check the availability for me, she also check the date for me when I forgot the date of my last mammogram. While I was expecting to wait at least 2 hours for my mammogram, she called me to her counter and let me know due to radiologist is having lunch now so I will probably be seen around 1 pm, if I want to have lunch first and come back around 1 pm I should be fine. After I came back from lunch at 12:30, I saw her wave at me with a warm smile. She's also very nice and polite when she talked with her colleagues and patients. Ok so at first I thought everything was fine at this facility. It was clean and the checkin process was quick and easy. I was here for an ultrasound of my thyroid. The technician was unaccomadating to me being that I'm 8 months pregnant and can't lay flat on my back. She forced me to lay flat even though its so uncomfortable and my neck can totally be flat even though my stomach is turned. ALSO I was literally there 5 min total. I had a wonderful experience! (One in Newport Beach) Reading the reviews before I came I was a little worried, so I wanted to write this as soon as possible in case someone is thinking about coming here. I have been here twice and all eight people (all were ladies) from the front desk to the doctor were wonderful. Also there are beds for the ultra sounds, I got an ultra sound and they also played some nice calming waves while I was laying down. so not sure what happened with the lady who left the other review. Maybe her doctor ordered a special kind? They explained everything before they did it and asked several times if I had any questions. I don't think they could have done anything to make the experience better. I highly recommend! Just wanted to add that I had to visit the Irvine location yesterday and everyone was also very nice! read more

The place is very nice but BEWARE they will charge you more than 10 times the amount you would pay a mile down the road. If you actually pay cash at a different facility it will be way cheaper than using your insurance (which will reduce the cost to 5 times more than paying cash some else) read more

Worst scheduling center ever!! I called to ask when the first appointment for a hip MRI is, and 15 minutes later, after answering a myriad of her questions (including if I had a breast expander?!) , they tell me they don't do MRI's at this facility! Seriously?! And the closest facility to this one that does MRI's does not have an appointment for an MRI for nearly 4 weeks!! Why did you bother asking me all these questions when I could have just called a different place! Waste of time. Horrible under-trained receptionists who are worst than robots and can't answer direct questions following a scripted Q&A. Disappointing. read more

Convenient location, lots of parking, friendly staffers, takes walk in, fast check in (and registration), easy and efficient. HOWEVER: No doctor present to interpret x-rays, so you have to wait to receive a reading or diagnosis. If you need to know what's wrong quickly, you need to go directly to a hospital. Had x-rays on Thursday, allowed "24 hours" for reading and interpretation, with said info being forwarded to my primary care doctor. I now have an appointment for Tuesday to hear back. That's a pretty long amount of time I've been enduring this pain in my forearm. read more

I've had to come in to the Hoag Imaging Center (not to be confused with Hoag Hospital Irvine, this center is on Barranca) a couple times, and have had good experiences each time. Book an appointment, show up, hand them your insurance card and ID, and it's just a brief wait in the WiFi equiped waiting room before being taken back for your procedure. This is the worst service ever. So i booked an appointment few weeks ago and I took the day off to schedule this appointment for mamogram. They get my information over the phone my insurance number and all my info. When I got here today and they told me that my insurance is not covered. This is Bs, they have the order for weeks and my insurance information. They should have told me ahead of time that my insurance doesnt belong to their group. What a waste of time. Hoag should hire someone more efficient than a senior citizen lady named Maricor. If you hate your job leave. Such a horrible experience. The front office receptionists are mainly the face we see first when we come in and the last face we see when we leave. Maricor represented HOAG in such a poor manner. Upon entering we check in, we fill out paperwork, and she belittles us for signing off on the wrong things when she highlighted the wrong things. You are the person who guides us in what to do and if you give wrong directions what outcome did she expect.? It's already a nerve wrecking feeling coming into a clinic where you are getting an imaging. Hoag please do a better job and have a strict selective with your hirees. Don't hire just anyone. Even if a receptionist job is versatile whether it's a hair salon or medical setting. You should choose someone who does not make the company as a whole look bad. I came in for a growth and measurement ultrasound at 32 weeks of gestation. The individual who performed the ultrasound procedure failed to measure my child's bones correctly, resulting in a few emergency procedures, steroid shots, ultrasounds, and constant monitoring for the next week. I noticed the technician was not measuring completely, and was also seemingly rushed through the procedure. I asked why she was not measuring to the end of the bones and she said she was, and that it looks different on her machine. This is my second baby, and was my second ultrasound with this specific tech, who did it correctly the first time around, so I know that was not true. She told me that my baby was pretty small and to wait to hear from my doctor, but when I asked about the measurements she said it was fine. My doctor was legitimately concerned after this ultrasound. My baby had been in the 47-49th percentile the entire pregnancy, and due to the mis-measurements, it threw my baby into the 11th percentile, which made it appear that she had stopped growing and I would have to deliver my baby very early. After all of the emergency ultrasounds, steroid shots, procedures, and monitoring, we found out my baby is just FINE without any issues. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with how this individual handled my ultrasound and in turn could have sabotaged the pregnancy and the birth of my child. She caused a lot of unnecessary stress on me, the baby inside me, my husband, my son, and the rest of my family. I will not be coming back to this specific Hoag Imaging Center, strictly because of this ultrasound technician. read more

Their always extremely clean and the staff is on top of their game! My mom fractured her big toe and her PCP sent her here immediately! She was seen within 10 minutes and got her results before 5pm! I was pretty nervous since it was my first time getting a mammo and heard horror stories about it but the mammo tech was very charismatic and walked me through the process and made me feel at ease. The exam took about 8 min and it was a little uncomfortable but not bad at all. Would definitely recommend this place for mammograms. read more

I came in yesterday in serious pain with a broken arm. (Was referred by my PCP across the hall.) They got me in immediately, helped me fill out the forms, Pat was REALLY careful and gentle as she did Xrays, and I had results faster than I could've hoped for. I've been in before for injuries and tests, and they're always great. Between Dr. Fishbein and these guys I was in the door at 9 after a biking accident, and cleaned up, splinted, referred and medicated by 10:30. Just excellent care. read more

A year ago I was referred to this imaging center after I found a lump in my right arm. When I went in the first tech who performed the ultrasound was new and informed me it was her first day. (That's really no big deal to me) However, she had to ask two other people to come and assist her because she couldn't locate the mass I was talking about. After three failed attempts with two different people the doctor comes in and looks herself. She was NOT gentle and after looking for about 2 minutes told me it was not cancer. While I was relieved I asked her if whatever it was, was normal because it was causing discomfort and she said "Is a freckle normal?" I wasn't sure if that was her way of saying its totally normal or if it should be monitored. She wasn't friendly and didn't offer any other answers as to what it could be. Needless to say I didn't feel like I got a good enough answer. This year I am going to have it looked at again and so I called to request a copy of my documents. The process of having them ready to be picked up by me was easy enough and the front desk staff is really friendly (which is the only reason for my three stars.) However, much to my disappointment when I opened the report that came with the CD of images the entire report was wrong. From the side of my body they examined to my medical history, it was all wrong. I am going to have it rechecked by someone else and I really hope it's not something serious that should've been caught the first time. read more

The experience at Hoag Imaging was a great one; HOWEVER, they fall way short after that. Unfortunately I have moved out of the area and tried getting copies of my mammograms from them for my new location. I called at least 6 times and left messages and NO ONE returned my call. So I had to go to my new lab without my prior images for comparison. Now, my new lab has been unable to obtain my films from Hoag either which has resulted in their inability to render a report on my mammogram. This is beyond frustrating and very upsetting. I expected much more from Hoag. So, "Buyer Beware". If you stay in their system you are okay but it you have to move out of their system, good luck!! So upsetting. read more

I like the location, nice environment, lots parking and clean waiting room, the clerks are friendly. However I ended up going their twice for my MRI test, the reason was my doctor forgot putting the "analysis" on the prescription, seemed to me my problem. But if they could pay little attention ahead time to make a call to my doctor to clarify. I do not have go there twice. My MRI was on Saturday, the doctor office was closed, I ended up have to reschedule my appointment for another time allowing them to make the call on week days. Please note that they had my prescription for over a week, they have plenty of time to make a simple call, without letting me go there twice. I was disappointed on their services. read more
