So I looked through the reviews of Hobarts.... most were good, some were not so good but we needed to give it its day in court...... Hobarts did not disappoint. Starting with the cocktails they nailed it. I have had martinis at countless restaurants (perhaps I am a lush) and their vodka martini was perfect - I mean like I make them at home. Then came the appetizer that my mother in law ordered.... cheese fritters- they were breaded mac and cheese bombs with a honey mustard dipping sauce that was to die for- no word of a lie. Next was the main.... I had a 10 oz. ribeye that wasn't 10 ounces.... it was more like 15 ounces- it was huge but it was cooked perfectly medium rare and perfectly seasoned - this wasn't just good, this was Montreal good... amazing food all around. But I think the service was the kicker.... our servers took the time to talk to us, explain the menu, ask people what they liked and were simply wonderful... I wish all restaurants had staff like this. Bottom line - if you're in this part of Ontario, go to Hobarts..... you will be blown away. read more

Service was excellent and the food was pretty good. .we ordered the chateau briand for two the small roast being the best part of the meal So why the 3 stars . Well the appitizers were very disappointing . We ordered escargot in mushroom caps and a loaf bread. Yes.. we ordered bread. It's not part of the $80.00 dinner for two. At $9.00 it was less than spectacular . The mushrooms were old and tasteless. White on the bottom as if they had been sitting in a liquid far too long . The salad also an extra was tiny leaving us thinking that they may have run out of lettuce . Small brown tips on the romaine was a dead give away. The atmosphere and service was excellent . We will go back and give it another shot. Let's hope it's better . read more

Great food and atmosphere tucked away in a strange corner of a mall between a pharmacy and a foot clinic. Ask the staff for recommendations and they will set you right with something delicious and ask for a book because you will need it while you wait. read more

One of the best restaurants in Lindsay, and my go to for special occasions. The food (especially the steaks) are above and beyond. Waitresses are so kind and bend over backwards for any requests. Their Caesar salad is incomparable to any others, and all the appetizers are creative and light. There is a lot of variety with the menu so you can splurge or save and leave satisfied. They also change around the menu frequently, which is rare for restaurants in this area. Finally, the atmosphere is always very professional and relaxing. You can sit in a booth that blocks noise for an intimate dinner or sit in the middle of the room for a large family gathering. Other recommendations would be any of their salads, the lobster Mac and cheese and the escargot. Also lunch is great! You can tell I'm a big fan and have been for years. read more

Just had a very pleasant Lunch at Hobart's Steakhouse on Kent St. in Lindsay, Ontario. A nice way to start "restauranting" In 2019. Allie, our server, was pleasant and helpful and our orders were served promptly. My companion and I shared, and thoroughly enjoyed, two of the lunch specialties. Caprese di Marion Flatbread, with pesto olive oil, grape tomatoes, bocconcini and parmesan, topped with citrus greens, scallion garnish and balsamic glaze. And: Sirloin Tip Sliders, grilled on garlic focaccia and stilton with citrus scallion greens. No room for dessert but must say the selections looked inviting. Although the wine list was adequate the overall price range was rather limited and somewhat high. Will have to do a Wednesday dinner when one can bring their own wine and not have to pay a corkage fee. read more

My wife and I attended Hobarts to celebrate our 48th anniversary on October27th. We had been there before so we knew what to expect. This establishment describes itself as fine dinning. It is not. The place used to have class. Subdued lighting quiet music and well dressed wait staff. Not now. The last time there was 50s music blasting. This time the music was better but the lighting was like eating in MacDonalds. When you're seated you will notice two bread and butter plates on the table however they do not serve a roll with your dinner. When asked they state that they stopped because no one ate them. When asked why the lights were so bright we were told that people like it that way. Trust me. Your average roadhouse has softer lighting. The meal I ordered came with a salad. My meal arrived and when asked about the salad the waitress apologized and asked me if I still wanted it. This place is no fine dinning establishment and while the wait staff were very nice there is no hint of romance there. My dinner was good however my wife's meal contained a grilled red pepper which was served with all the seeds in tact. When questioned about it even the waitress admitted that she would never serve a pepper to someone like that but after speaking with the chef she told us that the chef stated the the seeds won't hurt you. Why would I go back there? This is Lindsay and there are no other steak places you can go to. I. Keep hoping that Hobarts might change but so far no luck. read more

Ordered steak with sauteed mushrooms and twice baked potato. I've had better stuffed potatoes, moxies for example. The mushrooms were perfect and so was the steak. I ordered medium rare and it was exactly that. Total perfection. The service is very friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I would definitely recommend and visit again. read more

Not a special night as food and service were under par.. We asked for a slight modification to the topping on the steak and management came out with the server to debate why they can't do that but I was there 3 months prior and the topping was modified at that time.. Blue cheese and bacon topping was almost non existent. Steak was average at that and dessert was plain... not what the restaurant's mission statement states.. Will not go back read more

Bast meat ever! Always nice service. Not going there often but it's always great to spend evening with family or friends there. We were there this year for my Husband birthday and back for our anniversary. Thank you to save our Cupper wedding this summer. I like days to be different and call somewhere else - during a phone reservation (Thursday - nothing crazy) I was offered to come 30 minutes before I able to get back from work. Guys in Hobart's was nice and pleasant even when everyone else left and it only 3 of us in whole restaurant I haven't feel they wait for us to leave. read more

Definitely not the best experience. Escargot was swimming in a pool of sauce yet it was tasteless. Steak was of poor quality and the twice baked potato was clearly processed frozen and disappointing. Service was ok, atmosphere best left in the 80's. Would be better option to make the drive to the keg or any other franchise steakhouse for that matter. read more

I have been quite disappointed recently while visiting this establishment. While requesting a small amount of brie to be added over top of my steak, i was told it cannot be done. 3 months prior to this particular outing, I had ordered brie on my steak, and after much debate they did allow a slice of brie to be added to my steak. Last night, again I ordered this and the manager came out to our table, which included 3 couples... This was a very special occasion, and we felt interrupted over the managers need to escalate and address the issue of a slice of brie.He promptly told me this restaurant does not accommodate brie to be served over top of a steak, however if I wished I could purchase the whole brie cheese itself, as it is not conducive for their establishment to open a container of brie, for one customer, for one order. We instead ordered blue cheese over our steaks, and there was merely a dusting of blue cheese for two steaks,.. For an additional ten dollars. I was very taken back at this lack of customer service, our table spent well over three hundred dollars last night, which, in my opinion would have well covered a slab of brie. Very disappointed and will not be recommending this establishment, due to their lack of ensuring customer satisfaction. Service was completely mediocre. read more

Went for an anniversary dinner 2 weeks back, did the "Date night" special. 4 course meal for 2 people for $100 before drinks, tax, tip. You choice of appetizer, salad, choice of entree, chocolate covered fruit for dessert. Sounded great! What you don't know until you get there, is 1 appetizer between you and 3 to choose from so if you don't like the same stuff too bad. Same with the entree. 4 to choose from but again, its for you both. As my husband and I have completely different food likes this was a problem. I ended up picking an appetizer from the regular menu and it was added to the $100 The salad was excellent, the rest of the meal was good, not great, but good. The dessert, chopped fruit pieces in luke warn Hersheys liquid chocolate, not good. We each had 1 drink, the bill $160 before tip. Hobarts - been there, done that, not doing it again. If you go you are better off to order of the menu, and get what you want. read more

Hit and miss! I've had amazing steaks there. I've also had terrible steaks there. If you like the twice baked potato at the keg...you won't enjoy this one. It's always dry. All in all, it's a a three star meal in a four star joint. Friendly staff and nicely decorated though. read more
