As a professional artist in Redding, I am most interested in quality art supplies and custom framing. There is little competition in the area at the moment. Though the custom framing choices are somewhat limited, if you keep trying samples, you can get a more-than-satisfactory frame. The assistant was very helpful and patient and the price was considerably lower than Michael's for a high caliber frame. Thanks, HL. Now for more professional grade oil paints and bristle brushes.... bought a sign that said" cabana boy, where's my towel " and less than a month it completely turned white, couldn't even read it anymore, it was outside on the wall next to my hot tub, I took it back to the Redding location and they said they couldn't honor it cause none of their signs are for outdoor use!!! What the heck, are you suppose to hang those pool signs in your house??? I asked that to the manager and all she said was , sorry, not for outdoor use!! I told her then the store better put up a sign saying INDOOR USE only, I walked out of there and haven't been back, and I thought this was a Christian store!! read more

My hobby is framing my photography. I was excited to hear Hobby Lobby was coming to Redding as I thought they might carry something in that department. Well the answer is unfortunately no. All they carry is some cheap aluminum pre-cut stuff. They do however provide custom framing where you can have anything you want! Hello? That's my hobby! Can't buy nothing to do with it but they will charge you 500 dollars to frame it for you. Just another big box store geared down for us idiots in Redding. I'm tired of these stores in our town. Absolutely HORRIBLE return policy! Management does have the ability to over ride if your receipt is lost in the CARR fire and refund you actually what you paid. Instead Hobby Lobby makes $ off my purchase thanks to the fire. POOR BUSINESS!!!! Do not shop here, I NEVER WILL AGAIN!!! read more

Wonderful job was done on custom framing. Although my visit started out kind of slow. ( 3 clerks ignoring me at the custom framing desk. ) I was finally helped by Brianne. She was very helpful and did a fabulous job on my picture framing. I was very impressed. The price was really reasonable. I was expecting to pay a LOT more. Brianne completed the job in record time. This place is ridiculous. Okay so let me start by saying if you look up the prices at your favorite online platforms you will find that most items you can get cheaper then here. But the worst of the worst are the lines and long waits of getting checked out. This is my third time here and sitting in line. I have been in line for over 20 mins so far and still more in front of me. The last two time I got tired of waiting and just left my stuff. I bought a set of paint pens and one of the pens was defective. I took the receipt and pens with package back to the store 3 days after I bought them and the clerk said the store policy was no refund or exchange. I thought Hobby Lobby was like Nordstroms or Costco but that is NOT true. I was embarrassed by the manager and the clerks need training on customer service. The manager especially. Super young and did not treat me well. I sent an email to the main customer service dept. and was told that the manager said all of the pens were empty. She LIED. She didn't even test them. I have used them since and they work just fine. I will NOT shop at this Hobby Lobby again. Redding associates need massive training. The store never has clerks to help you. They are to busy putting out Christmas displays in July !!!! They should be out in the store being helpful. Not happy in Redding.... I would have brought them back in 2 days but the store is closed on Sundays? read more

Great selection of goods but the service was horrible. The employees were super rude and short with answering questions. We were one of the last people in the store for the night and on our way to the front to check out each employee gave us nasty looks. Even the store manager was unpleasant and pretty much pushed us out of the store. We heard him saying to another staff member "those better be the last customers in the store" Love the products in this store but the staffing definitely needs some training/updating. read more

This was my first time here and yes, there was certainly a great selection, my first thought was wow how is Michael's going to compete with all this. As I started price comparing, I saw they were about the same, maybe a little more. The store was very large and I was finding it hard to locate items I needed. So I started looking for employees for a little guidance. I guess being around 6 p.m., I don't know if they were close to closing or perhaps a shift change or what was the case. I had several questions as I was looking to purchase a bunch of art supplies to start a project. The young man I asked in the art pens area (he was very polite) told me I needed to wait for the girl who is in charge of the pens because he was not aware of what kind of pens were locked in the case that I inquired about as she had the key. That is fine of course, I completely understand as there's been some kind of thing going on at all the stores I have went to about trying to keep those pins and stock. What I was really put off by was how busy she was straightening everything into perfect little rows after I had waited to talk to her. I really felt like I was just bothering her. On my way out I noticed not just one person, but three other people were also so busy straightening boxes that as I left they couldn't be bothered to even look up, or even inquire if I was looking for help.( at this point I was still hoping to find someone approachable.) I can tell you one thing you have absolutely nothing to worry about Michael's, with your fantastic sales, staff and the app that I have been recently shown I will definitely keep spending my money there. read more

I went into the store on Monday to purchase fabric. So after selecting 3 different fabrics I Went to the cut counter to have cut. While speaking with the employee (Melissa) who was cutting my fabric I ask if I could use the coupon (40% off)for the regular priced fabric. I was told that Hobby Lobby no longer has coupons! Which is sad. But she did say that because I still had it on my phone, and that expires on the 20th of the month. She did say that the cashier might have to call her to get permission to use the coupon that was still in the add and not expired! So I got more of the one fabric I was going to use the coupon for because I was told they would honor the coupon. While checking out the cashier could not get the coupon to work so I said to call Melissa as to get permission. He instead ask another employee who told me no more coupons and could not honor it ! Again I said to call Melissa. They finally did and after 8 minutes she came up while talking on the phone and told me the corporate would not allow her to honor their coupon ! I pointed out that's not what she said just 15 minutes earlier! I ask her to override and honor what she previously had told me. Melissa told me that their was NO way she could give me 40% off! I told her I thought that was bullshit! She then grabbed the fabric off the counter and told me I swore at her and that I could call corporate if I had any other problems. I was treated horrible and mislead by them ! What a shame in this day and age they were willing to loose a long time customer over a mear $6.39. Yes I did say a sware word and am sorry for that. But to be treated like they did and then grab fabric off the counter like I was going to steel it. Melissa told me that she told corporate that I swore at her. I did call corporate and waiting to hear back from them. Again what a horrible experience and shame on you Melissa and Hobby Lobby I WILl NeVer SHOP IN THE Redding store ever again ! read more

I will never shop there again. They are the rudest people ever. Three different employees shouldered past me without so much as an excuse me to mistreat another customer. When I commented on the treatment of the other customer I was told that I didn't know what I was I talking about (All I said was that it made me not want to shop there again). I was not talking to the employee that told me I didn't know what I was talking about. She said she felt she needed to step in to correct me. WTF?. I said, Oh so you could make it worse? Please do not shop at this Hobby Lobby! I am a past employee and have seen how the managers run this store. Even myself (in a leadership position) have been treated like crap. In my interview I said that I was very good at customer service and Amber told me flat out that this store doesn't care about customer service, they only care if you get your job done. I have been in meeting after meeting where Amber and Melissa ridicule an employee in front of the entire staff. I have work here 5 months and got promoted to a leader position because over 20 people have quit (not fired, walked out and quit) since I had started this job. Do not support these terrible managers... it honestly amazes me corporate hasn't noticed the amount of turnover in this store. If you're looking for a job, look elsewhere because it's not worth all the money in the world under these managers... read more

I was planning to visit this store for some craft supplies and decided to read the reviews first. I am now hesitant about spending time trying to get any help, especially from Amber if she is having a bad day, which could be any day. It sounds like I should plan on a great deal of time looking for what I want. I plan on calling ahead to see what they carry and get a clue where to find it.I will approach this trip with trepidation. read more

This store has a serious problem with their customer service! Went to buy material there, first mistake. They had a sign for 50% off, picked up materiel right in front of sign. Went to get it cut and was told it wasn't 50% off, only some of the material was. WHAT? Asked for manager, she could have radio handled the situation but chose not to. Looked at me like I was robbing the place and said it's not on sale. This manager needs some serious training in customer service. We are only talking about a few dollars but that's not the point! I just went to Hobby lobby here in town, as I do a lot of business there. I was buying paint again as I am an artist... It said 30% off the 2 ounce paints... There was also a sign saying 30% off the eight and 16 ounce Anita paint? I grabbed a bunch of them and went up to the front to pay. Then the lady said you know that these are only the 2 ounce ones that are 30% off. I said there's a sign back there saying all of the Anita paints are 30% off! And I went back and grab the sign. Then they called the manager up by the name of Amber. She said it's out of date so she was only going to give me one of them at 30% off. I said it's not my problem that it's out of date and then the state law is that they have to honor it. She said tough, only one is 30% off . I went home and thought about it and looked at state law for California and went back to show it to her because she's wrong... And she said she didn't care about the law that that's all that she was going to do about it! I asked her name, told her that the couple of bux that I was going to save when I already spend hundreds every week there was a small price compared to me turning her in to the Better Business Bureau, yelp, and contacting corporate. She said she didn't care. So that is what I'm doing to this good Christian organization that doesn't give a rats rear about the law of the land! Just unreal. read more
