I have to comment after yet another shopping experience yesterday in Santa Maria. The store itself is great. Clean and organized and so many fun things that you expect from Hobby Lobby. However the two ladies that manage the front are much like pit bosses. No smiles. No interactions, the cashiers to me don't feel happy to be there. I went to the the younger "pit boss" to ask a question today she didn't acknowledge me or smile merely looked to a young man she was chatting with and he took over on my question and did his best to guide me. Seriously for a Christian based store you would think they would be happy and cheerful. One more item to note. Scanning the item and accepting Apple Pay are the standard in the county now read more

I used to shop at Michael's for crafts projects for my sons. I went in today to get a couple of things, and I asked to use the bathroom first (between their cleaning the women's and the men's bathrooms), apologizing that it was an emergency (it was). They said, "No." There's a competitor of Michael's in the same center. There's no need to shop where the staff forgot the service component of thevalue triangle. We'll just vote with our wallets. read more

I went in about 3 months ago to the frames and frame shop. A gal named Flor helped me. She was so helpful and kind that I opted to not use other framing stores and return. I returned a week ago, needing 5 paintings matted and framed and Flir was there again. She was so helpful looking at Matt's, offering a non-glare glass and more. I continue to go into Hobby lobby and wanted to update my review. The store is wonderful. The employees are friendly they greeting when you come in and they thank you for coming when you leave. The large store is laid out nicely and is extremely organized. In the area we also two other stores similar nature but I will say that for all around craft and hobby store, Hobby Lobby takes the cake. They are always stocked and rarely out of anything. They have a great selection and there's something for everyone. If you are an early planner for the holidays this is the place to go. They put their shipments out when they get them in and the also restock closer the the specific holiday. They often have a lot of their merchandise on sale. People can tend to get confused when it comes to what's on sale and what isn't. You definitely need to look at the signs, the weekly ads and read them. It is very clearly labeled what is on sale and what isn't. If there's something you do you want it full price the hobby lobby app usually has some sort of a coupon for 30 to 50% off one full priced item. I enjoy JoAnn's and Michael's, The other two craft stores we have in town, and they are known for specific things that they carry but if you want a one stop shop I really think Hobby Lobby is the place to go. read more

I love the items in the store. I love all the clerks working there. I DON'T love the management. They talk to their staff in a most unprofessional manner. Nearly every time I'm in the store I hear their interactions. The staff isn't doing anything wrong, yet they are constantly being spoken to in a rude and nitpicking way. This is a Christian organization. They certainly don't lead by example. They are not Christ-like. So disappointing. I wish the headquarters could see how demeaning the management is to their workers. read more

I was recently at Hobby Lobby looking for a frame for an art piece that I got from Instagram and they had 50% off discount frames. I am glad that I waited to buy the frame and save the 50%. I have browsed throughout the store and I can tell that they have several different sections that include sewing, baking and general crafts making. I am not sure how the prices compare with Michael's or other places in town. It would be interesting to find out if they have some canning stuff and how competitive their prices are against Walmarts crisis. read more

I absolutely love this store, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the customer service today. I was having trouble finding needle nose pliers. The first person I asked told me to walk to the front of the store and look for the person wearing the red lanyard as the jewelry department was her section. When I did walk to the front of the store and found her, Natalie, she didn't seem to be much more help. "Well they should be over there somewhere in the Jewelry making stuff" is all she could really tell me. Then she said, "yeah if you don't see them, then we probably don't sell them because we don't have everything." In the past if I'm having trouble finding something, they would walk me over there and actually help me find it. It was not a busy day at all. There were no lines at the front and Natalie was just standing there doing nothing. She continued just standing there not really doing anything throughout my whole visit so it was a little bit disappointing when she made no effort to help me actually find what I was looking for. I don't normally like leaving negative reviews, but I feel like this young woman needs a little bit more training in how to accommodate customers in a more helpful way. Just wanted to leave an honest review. On a super busy day it would be more understandable. But that wasn't the case. I'll still be back and continue shopping here. read more

Standing in line forever! There was a long line behind me,so an employee asks the people behind me if he could help them in another line. Mind you I had been waiting much longer. Worst shopping experience I have ever had. Do not even try to shop here. Felt like employees were watching your every move and not trying to hide it, old white chubby lady standing in the middle of an isle just staring??? I mean come on, talking into her walkie talkie. Other lady with long black hair standing by closed register attempting to talk to me way across the aisle, rudely shouted. Same employee kept walking by multiple times as if following us staring HARD. Dirty blonde haired employee wouldn't stop staring at me in a rudely way. As I was walking out without buying anything I heard the employee with the hair long black hair yell to the cashier " They didn't buy anything?!?". My wife and I have had nothing but positive experiences at the Santa Maria Hobby Lobby. It would seem based on previous reviews, from over a year ago, that they got off to a rocky start. I can tell you that not one employee has been rude or dismissive. They have all been extremely nice, happy, and willing to help. I give this place a 5 because of all the times I've been there I've always had great customer service. Employees are friendly. And when you look for something if they don't know where it's at they will call for you to help you find what you need Place is always clean and you always see ppl working. I notice someone wrote about that they are watching like a hawk. It's not true I've never noticed that and I've had family members in there that never said that either. I love this place. First one I went too was in Virginia and was hoping there would be one here!! And now there is. I love the way the wall decor and more have scripture written on it. Love this place! It is cool to see home decor and office supplies in the same store! All the staff wears masks (for COVID-19), they keep the store clean, and they are making sure that there is not more 200 people there at a time. (They usually let in 400 at a time.) The home decor here is very nice and relatively cheap. It is fun to see the seasonal stuff they get here. Will be coming back for awhile! read more

Great products, good prices but the wait time to check out is almost unbearable. I was there today and at noon, I waited in line for 15 minutes. There were only two other people in front of me. Other registers were open but people were backed up 4 - 5 deep. You've got a good product Hobby Lobby but get your checkout together!! read more

Be very careful during checkout and make sure you are not overcharged. I discovered a phantom charge on my receipt a couple of days after the purchase and when I informed the manager and she said I needed to bring ALL the items back so they could "cross check" the receipt. This was ridiculous as every item was on the receipt with the correct price. The charge in question was more than a hundred dollars for an item I didn't purchase. The items I bought were to be used for the Annual Awards presentation for the personnel at Vandenberg AFB, and since I have a limited budget, this hit of $100 lessons the impact. I could not bring ALL the items back because the baskets, etc. I purchased were assembled and I would need to unpack them. Thanks Hobby Lobby! read more

The night manager Shirley was absolutely rude and unhelpful. My daughter was purchasing something with her Christmas money and wanted to use a 40% off coupon off the hobby lobby app on my phone. The cashier accidentally had already rang it up and called the manager Shirley over to help adjust the transaction when Shirley refused to help and told me that she couldn't use coupons after the fact. What could have been a very simple fix turned into to an unpleasant experience and an unhappy customer who will never return. Shirley should not be in management as she is not a good leader to her associates and is rude to customers. read more

I love that I can depend on a craft store like Hobby Lobby to meet my creative needs, and the attention to the details of various aesthetics is impressive. Though my review is not in regards to the quality of the company's product concepts, my review is in regards to the Santa Maria staff and customer service. All, but one, of my experiences with the staff have been unfriendly, they seem unhappy and annoyed to be helping me, and that makes me, as a typically happy customer, regretfully not want to return to the store. As someone who has worked in retail, I understand that the days are long and some customer interactions are discouraging, or perhaps there is tension between the other staff members, but one must reevaluate the priorities. Some of the ways I have been spoken to, by said staff, was completely unprofessional and generally very rude. I hope they find happiness in the position they are serving and learn to treat shoppers with thoughtful kindness. Life is too short to be otherwise. I do wish to return and have a contrasting experience. read more

This was a horrible shopping experience at 1411 in Santa Maria I was living from high anxiety ADHD and social anxiety but I have them well maintained given on the construction worker/handyman by trade and I was in an orange dirty shirt and construction pants but I don't look homeless or pour in my opinion my hair brushed my face wash my hands washed I stopped in here to get the supplies for a 19 year old's birthday party and from the moment you walk through the door there are people circling you staring at you double taking you peeking at you from the ends of aisles and acknowledging them showing them the items that I picked up waiting to them being friendly and talking to them and he's duck way and then circle unit circle tell you make it to the cash registers and there's still lurking about it just makes me feel very uncomfortable very unwanted very judged and just I've over a thousand dollars in my pocket so I can buy table runners and power settings and all kinds of things and I put it all down I gave it all to the lady who was following me he apparently is a manager it seems and disaster what in the world's going on she had no answer for me other than her job is to circle the store over and over again and circle everybody and expect everybody of doing something wrong so if you want to feel like you're criminal or like you've done something wrong when you haven't done anything at all kinds of hobby lobby let me disabled people feel like crap about themselves. I ended up losing my wallet at the store just in the panic attack brought on by these people it was just utterly ridiculous I'm shaking this frustrated kind of panic you know I wasn't doing anything wrong they made me leave there feeling like I've been doing something wrong since the moment I got in there the lady who kept calling me I kept trying to acknowledge her and ask her for information or help or include her in on it so she knew that you know I was more than just f****** stealing from their store. Well sorry to hear about that but my job is to follow people. Well if you're not doing anything wrong then why would it make you feel bad or awkward. I was really looking forward to a nice NEW craft store in town but this place is just typical Santa Maria: already run down, old, and crowded. My mom, sister, and I went in because we were interested in purchasing a cricut (a pretty expensive item!) When we finally found them in the store there were no boxes on the shelves, only display. We stood there and looked at them and assumed they were sold out because there were no boxes. My mom checked the end caps and both sides of the aisles and saw nothing. We stood there and talked OUT LOUD about if we were going to buy one here, do they have bundles? do they have them in stock? are they on another aisle? We talked about this for AT LEAST two minutes before i finally asked the employee who offered no help or input and WHO WAS STANDING TWO FEET AWAY FROM US RESTOCKING SHELVES ON THE SAME AISLE if they had any in stock! her reply? without even making eye contact or turning toward us she rudely told us they kept them in the back. I then asked her "okay, so do we just tell you we want one?" she turned around pointed to small papers next to the machines and begrudgingly told us "no you just grab the paper that it RIGHT NEXT to it" it was obvious that we were a burden to her, heaven forbid we ask an employee at a retail store (a new one at that!!) to help us find an item! read more

I visited this store for the second time yesterday. My first visit was really nice, the employees are helpful and the merchandise is incredible. Yesterday my visit started off by one of the female employees yelling the F word twice while standing in an office doorway. So glad I did not have any children with me. At checkout, the cashier rudely told me "you need to read the signs" when I asked if some home decor items I had were on sale. I'm aware of that & had read the sign multiple times which seemed to indicate the items were on sale. I guess not. Maybe it was just an off day but I have a pet peeve about vile language in public. Used to love this store but now I feel uncomfortable even walking in. I was in there for about five minutes with nothing in my hand besides a phone since I was on a call and the manager was staring me down. She continued to follow me through the whole store and stopped in the aisle I was in. She talked to one of her employees in the same aisle then proceeded to request security in the department I was in. I was getting stares from all three workers surrounding me like I was a criminal.
