This place is awesome! The employees are always really friendly and helpful! I mainly go for the Bandai Gunpla Gundam selection, which is always varied and there are so many to choose from! The prices are marked up a tiny bit on a few items, but that's mainly the massive-brand stuff like pokemon plushies, but never a bad amount. I have passed Hobbytown so many times, but never went inside until learning the store carried Bruder trucks. Boy have I been missing out on a great place to bring a toddler! Based on the name, I assumed the business primarily catered to hobby enthusiasts (model cars, train set supplies, etc). They have these items and so much more. My 3 year old son was in heaven. There is a detailed model train than runs along the ceiling, train table, and a huge variety of toys for both boys and girls. He was amazed by the display of numerous R/C vehicles and planes. The selection of Bruder and Brio items is the best I've found in Knoxville. We spent over an hour browsing, and plan to return for Christmas shopping. My son now begs to visit Hobbytown whenever we're in Turkey Creek. Great store! read more

I've heard that some hobby stores only seem to cater to experienced people and don't seem to care helping someone new that will just ask a lot of question. I've worked in retail and was told that even if I was busy at least tell them I'll be with you soon so they at least know they was noticed. I didn't get acknowledged at all. I spent about 15 minutes looking at the rc trucks that I've only seen online and on YouTube. The store has a nice selection of rc vehicles for all ages and experience and I'm sure I would have purchased something if only they made some effort to spend some time with me. read more

I was have trouble setting up my RC Motor, called into the store and spoke with Robert, he told me to come in the store and he would trouble shoot the issue for me . Fast forward to the store .... Hobbytown USA has a terrific selection of hobby supplies for model trains, plastic scale models, model rockets and a good selection of die cast models. Aerosol paints, bottled paints, tools and paint brushes are well displayed and easy to find. Air brushing equipment is also sold here including the aerosol propellant type. R/C section of the store is well stocked with several different types in a variety of price ranges from $99.99 up. Dungeons and Dragons supplies are also sold here including dice and books. A locked display case for scale models built by Knoxville Scale Modelers Association club members is at this store for shoppers to view. Public restrooms for Men and Women are available in the back of the store. A few snacks are for sale in the front of the store. read more

I have bought numerous rc cars from this store. We bought my son the Traxxas TRX4 for Christmas and has only been driven inside. The truck caught fire and melted the electronics. I took the truck back to the store and could not believe what they told me. They said the battery was to big which they sold me the battery at the time I bought the truck. Then he said well you could have plugged it up backwards. I mean come on I have bought over $2000.00 dollars in cars and trucks from them and they want me to be the dumb one. The battery is correct one. Just cheap crap from this store. I will take my business elsewhere. The guys behind the counter can't tell you anything without looking it up. I just went into this store after driving all the way from Gatlinburg tn. To buy a blade quad helicopter. While waiting for a service person to help me I picked up a remote control that was sitting on the display counter. The man with the big mustache I didn't get his name came running down to me raising hell about me touching the controller. I would think that if you don't want a customer to pick up something then don't put it on the counter. That made my mind up real fast not to buy here. They just lost a sale for 999.00 plus tax. I will never buy at this store again. Beware of the rude sales person at this store. read more

They have a cute little selection of things hard to find elsewhere. My issue is with the Sunday closing (I assume) manager girl. She profiles customers and follows them around. For this reason I don't really care to do business here, even though the guy in the remote control plane/car section was welcoming and helpful. I've never thought I could feel so unappreciated as a customer as I did in Hobby Town USA of Knoxville Tn. Me and my girlfriend we're trying to buy a drone and we had no assistance to help us first time drone buyers make a decision. So we picked one out and dude said we had a 30 day return policy. 5 days later it's not flying right, so I try to return it. They say no because I opened the box. Not only would they not give me my money back they put no effort into helping me solve the problem. Instead they would move on to the next customer leaving me dumbfounded with all the accessories to my quadcopter sprawled on the counter looking like a dumbass.
