Not as big as northeast and not as much to do but still fun and something free to do. We have also been to Chesapeake city and rising sun. All great places to take your kids! I would recommend the northeast branch out of all of them because there is so much for your kids to play with, they always have some kind of little activity for the kids to do (last week was matching mittens on a large board) always very clean, bathrooms are super nice and staff is great, very helpful very nice and welcoming!

I recently found myself needing to go here because of the death of my spouse and trying to claim survivor benefit. I expected I would have to put up a fight and wait a long time. I brought every form of ID I could think of, but I left my library card at home. From the time that I placed the phone call, to scheduling the appointment to being in person at this branch, it was Saks Fifth Avenue level of Customer Service. EVERYBODY I have encountered in this process, is so helpful and KIND. It all started with the phone call to schedule the appointment. I swear, if the rep in Columbia, MD on the phone was any more helpful and friendly, she would have invited me over for Sunday dinner. I was GOBSMACKED. She was confused about me wanting to schedule in MD and not PA, but I told her I knew what I was doing. The funny thing is that the secret is out already. Even though I live in the southern part of Chester County, PA, everyone in my neighborhood says to go to the Elkton Office. Don't waste your time going to West Chester. My financial advisor in Greenville, DE said the SAME thing. I related this stellar reputation that the office had to live up to the nice lady helping me, and she seemed initially embarrassed, but at the end, I told her "See, it's true." ""Everyone who told me to come here was right about this being such a wonderful, helpful branch." She agreed.

It sits inside the also recently built Darley Green Development which make it an awesome addition for the people who live in those townhomes (great idea) but us outside folks are welcome too. The floor plan is very well laid out with clear, bold signage overhead. The DVD is good but a bit awkward to read because they shelve them on their sides so you have to bend your head. This is my third time here and I've only had one problem and that was with a gentleman who refused to let me pay my fine with my debit card because it wasn't signed. He tried to make me sign it with a sharpie. I refused to do that and just came back with cash.

This library is tucked into an unexpected neighborhood near a playground and has a lovely little lawn out front where I saw some people relaxing in the sun. The meeting rooms (where the class was located) are open, airy and have plenty of light through the expansive windows. The book selections inside, as well as their library of things (puzzles, games, etc), felt very broad, something for everyone. They also have a large collection of books for sale (3 for $1 is a steal). The staff are veryhelpful with any questions and quick to help diffuse any disturbances (a patron was asked to leave and it was handled quickly, orderly and well) so that anyone needing that quiet space can continue to read or study can do so.
