I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience. When my dog was in absolute dire need of medical attention, this veterinary clinic completely failed us. We brought him in scared and desperate as he could no longer walk with his hind legs, trusting that the professionals there would take his condition seriously. Instead, our concerns were dismissed, communication was poor, and there was no sense of urgency despite his worsening symptoms. We were given vague explanations and minimal guidance, and I felt like we had to push for every bit of information. There was no clear plan, no proactive follow-up, and no compassion during one of the most terrifying moments of our lives. By the time we realized how serious things truly were, it was too late. Our dog passed away shortly after. I can't say with certainty that the outcome would have been different, but I do know we did not receive the level of care, attention, or urgency that any pet -- or family -- deserves. Losing a pet is heartbreaking on its own. Feeling unheard and unsupported by the very people you turn to for help makes it even worse. I sincerely hope this clinic reevaluates how they handle emergency cases and how they communicate with worried pet owners, because no one should have to go through what we did. To add insult to injury, we notified them our dog passed and never received a call from our longtime vet, Dr Ray. We did get a call from the office 2 weeks after his passing to confirm his upcoming appointment though. Unbelievable! read more

We have been bring our pets here for many years. Our Rabbits, cats, and dogs. Everyone here from the front desk to the doctors are great. Today I had to bring my 5 1/2 month old little guy to get a few more of his puppy shots. He is weird in at 56.6 lbs. Doctor Antonelli is our fur babies doctor. She is so sweet and you can tell she loves every pet she see. She has been very informative and helpful with him. We have never had a Bernese and there health issues can be much different from others breeds. I would recommend any of the doctors at Hodes veterinary care. read more

this vet group was someone I trust to my dog. I bought him in for dental procedure, and came back worst than going in, came back with eye infection and drooling excessively, that he has never done before. after adding service on last visit and medication and not getting any better, I went to another vet. the vet looked in his mouth and said he is infected and bleeding around the gums and needed to go back in to see what was what, he part of the tooth was still in there and another had to come out. I called Hodes and spoke to the office manager. I told them of what had happen, they told me, that is because they don't do X-rays before or after, that they always wanted to get X-rays but owner always refuse, so now I have 2 vet bills I have to pay @ $1600 a piece for each service. if you don't have the proper equipment why wouldn't you send us to a dental doctor for. the dog? is this all about the money? the new vet did the job and now he's not drooling and his eye cleared up. My family has been taking our pets to Hodes Veterinary Group for 20 years. Most recently, for my own personal pets, they took great care of my ferret Rocky. Unfortunately, he was far too sick to help but they gave up options to try and prolong his life and treated us with the most amazing care and respect. Just this last Friday, my 12 year old cat was violently ill so they had me rush her in and within 20 minutes of my phone call, we were being seen by Dr. Felts. They did a thorough exam, X-rays and blood work. They gave her an injection and sent me home with two prescriptions for her. It was an immediate improvement. I was terrified I would have to put her down and they literally saved her life. Plus, I've received two follow up calls since then, asking about her progress. They truly care. They are the only vets in Morris county I would trust with my animals. If could give them 10 stars, I would. read more

I've been going to this practice for over 25 years. 2 dogs previously and presently 2 dogs. They have always given my dogs the best of care. As long as our dogs weren't suffering they've given them an opportunity for a longer life. All the doctors that I dealt with very were very professional and compassionate. The staff is also very friendly and compassionate as well. I wouldn't go anywhere else. This practice work together like a family and that's been comforting to my family and dogs! read more

I had to take my amazing dog Terry for his eternal sleep today. Not only were they absolutely understanding but there were loving and descreet. This place price gouged me...I brought my dog in after he was bitten by a neighbor's dog. They wanted almost $1200 for stitches, anesthesia, meds and very basic blood work (heart worm and Lyme) I refused but still paid $250 for the visit, the basic blood work and meds because the Vet refused to call the prescription to a pharmacy or give me a written prescription so that I could have it filled elsewhere. I was forced to pay 5 times what I would have paid at Costco for the same medication. I was going to take my dog across the street to Country Lakes but since their vet was not in, they recommended VCA Blairstown. My dog had the stitches with anesthesia, extensive bloodwork and medication done by Blairstown for almost a third of what Hodes wanted to charge me! Hodes tried to price gouge me! Thankfully, my dog is recovering nicely and behaving much more like his old self. read more

Dr. Ray is amazing and incredibly empathetic. He treated our cat Gracie at the end of her life as if she were his own kitty. Watching her get sicker was really hard, but Dr. Ray was there every step of the way. We really appreciated how involved and how attentive he was, asking for updates regularly and being extremely honest with us in the best possible way. I haven't written a yelp review in a very long time, but my experience with Dr. Vorhies at this Vet office has been absolutely amazing. I picked this practice due to recommendations from friends and I'm so glad. Though they may be a bit more expensive than other vets, but they go above and beyond in terms of service. I brought my golden retriever in for lethargy and stomach upset. Dr. Vorhies was so patient with and took the time to listen to me. After giving my pup a shot of anti-nausea medicine, he told me to follow up if he didn't improve as the day went on. My dog did not improve and when I called back, they told me to bring him in for a follow up. After more blood work and x-rays, Dr. Vorhies referred me to the Emergency Vet in Fairfield (also fantastic). It is the day before Thanksgiving and Dr. Vorhies is not at work but has followed up with the vet in Fairfield and myself both last night and this morning. He has been super supportive and I feel like he has been a real advocate for my dog and myself. He told me not to hesitate to call him if I had any questions or concerns about the tests they want to run or the treatments they want to try. He clearly loves what he does and as Brian F states - 5 stars really doesn't do this practice justice. Though the front desk staff may not always be overly friendly, their vets are the best I've ever come across. As long as I live in NJ, I'll bring my pets here. read more

I recently went to Hodes for my new cat I adopted. I also went there 30+ years ago for a couple rabbits I had. They were the only vets around at the time that took care of rabbits. They were wonderful then and wonderful now. The practice has grown but still has a very caring & wonderful staff and doctors. I have a very hard time walking and yesterday was no exception. They were nice and offered to carry my cat from my truck inside and back out. I couldn't have done it without their help. The doctor and all staff were just beyond nice. I got recommendations on what I could do better being a new cat owner & a diagnosis in a very timely manner. They actually took me a little early because there were a lot of dogs in the waiting room and I had a cat and they saw the need to get her in away from all the dogs. I highly recommend them. I recently moved back to Randolph and have an animal hospital across the street from me but traveled about 15 minutes to go to Hodes and very grateful that I did. read more

I had a very sick 13 year old cat and I took him to see Dr. Anaker in this practice. Dr. Anaker was extremely thorough in his examination and offered excellent advice on how to move forward with trying to stabilize our cats condition. He laid out a plan on what we might expect over the next few days if our cat didn't respond. Unfortunately our cat didn't respond to treatment and we had to make the difficult decision to put him to sleep. Dr. Anaker made a house call to perform this service and acted in a more professional and compassionate way than I could ever have imagined. First, I trust my two dogs with all of the doctors in the practice. From what I can tell, Dr. Hodes brings the best of the best into his practice. Personally , our dogs see Dr Anaker when he is in (he went to the same veterinary school as our previous doctor). In our experience, he applies common sense to all his treatments and has always given us the final choice (to which our response is "you went to school for this and have more experience"). I know that all the doctors in the practice apply common sense to their suggested treatments, but the most of our experience is with Dr. Anaker. I know that Dr. Hodes cares about his patients because we have had a Sunday afternoon emergency and when we called the office phone number, it rang in what I think was in Dr. Hodes' house and he met us at the office. Our dogs have seen every doctor in the practice at one time or another and every one has treated our dogs competently and compassionately. read more

Dr. Hodes clinic is the best we have had for our pets. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, reliable and caring. The whole place provides the good feeling of professionalism and care. As good as it gets for a full service general practice. Dr. Hodes has cared for our Giant laskan malamutes, and for our Beauceron hound dog and a pit bull. I have a 31 year old white capped pionus who I adore. I have had her at a couple of clinics in my area, the worst being Companion Animal Hospital in Parsippany whose clinic was crawling with ticks (the vet even had one on his lab coat when he first walked in) from a previous pet owner's dog. I wouldn't take her anywhere else now. As a side note but relevant as to character, Dr. Hodes used to provide mobile services and back in the mid 90s had to put my parents' lab down. He wrote them the most gentle, compassionate letter afterwards and I was so touched by his thoughtfulness. It helped my mother's grief tremendously. When my sister's ferret had to be put down, he was the person I recommended to her and I saw the same reverence to life and empathy that is so welcome at a time of grief and stress. The staff and team at this clinic are stellar. It's hard to find a good bird vet and this clinic has several including Dr. Andrea (I think that's her name) who specializes in avian care. I find the doctors caring, compassionate, gentle, professional, knowledgeable and thorough. It's a cheery office converted from a private home so you might miss it first time coming so use a GPS. I love the African grey that is kind of a mascot there. I find the place welcoming and reverential. read more

We have been seeing hodes for over 20 years. Dr hodes and his clinic has gone so far downhill. He is the WORSE vet we have ever brought our dogs to. He killed 2 of my dogs because he was so careless and did not follow proper procedures. All hodes cares about is money. He is extremely expensive, does not give a crap about the owners or the pets. All he cares about is getting paid. Hodes and his whole staff are absolutely rude. I would hate to go there! If you care about your pet at all, please go to a different vet. I bring my 3 dogs and 4 cats to Hodes Vet Clinic. Usually we see either Dr Anacker or Dr Chris but we have seen other vets when those 2 are not available. All the vets we have seen are very friendly and go out of their way to educate me on the needs of my pets. They will even do follow-up phone calls to check on the health of my pets if they were being treated for something. the office staff is very helpful and friendly. It seems like they are part of my family. I highly recommend Hodes Vet Clinic. read more
