I recently moved to NJ from another state and my senior cat was constipated. I called MountainView and was told they don't see pets for sick visits unless they are already established at the clinic and have had a well visit. They may be able to squeeze him in with an extra $210 emergency fee. The receptionist said that it would be that was everywhere. Fortunately I called another clinic that was able to schedule an appointment for the next morning. I find it disgusting that a clinic would refuse to schedule an appointment for a sick pet without an exorbitant fee. My family has to move every 2-3 years so my 13 year old cat has been to 4 veterinary offices, and I've personally worked in primary care offices for humans in 5 different states and have never heard of this. 1 star, would not recommend. read more

1 star because they stupidly hired Dr. Terri Schneider, who previously worked at Budd Lake Animal Hospital where she oversedated my cat Willy, who passed away as a result. Then when she called my house to speak with my mother regarding something else and I picked up, she -- realizing who I was -- hung up on me. She knows she isn't qualified to be a Veterinarian and couldn't even give me the decency of a single acknowledgment after she killed my baby Willy. Then I -- not knowing she worked here now -- brought my new cat in to get his nails trimmed. I recognized her and asked her if she remembered Willy and she really said no. I brought my cat here, he was diagnosed with diabetes. The new vet out of school from here gave us instructions. Gave my cat a special diet. After many visits, his glucose wasn't coming down. Then the clinic owner called me, informed me that the instructions I was given were wrong. I was assigned another vet at the clinic. My cat was dead within a week from the wrong plan of care. I took my dog Bella to her annual visit on a Friday afternoon, and she died on Monday! I told the doctor, please don't give my dog a bunch of vaccines as she had a reaction the previous year. Dr. Terri Schneider said, "Oh, don't worry, we will give her a Benadryl for her tummy." She administered two of the three vaccinations (Bordatella and Lepto). She said we would wait three weeks to give her the Lyme disease vaccine. They took bloodwork and examined her. My dog had a heart murmur, and the doctor said oh, it's 2 out of 6, just as in previous years; it's steady. I brought my dog home, and she became lethargic, lost her appetite, and vomited twice. On Monday morning, after vomiting the second time, she experienced a syncopal episode. I performed CPR, and when she came to, I took her to an emergency veterinary hospital in Whippany. There, they conducted tests (x-rays and bloodwork) and told me her heart was a 5 out of 6, she had water in her lungs, and she had Pulmonary Heart Failure. They recommended she see a Cardiologist. How can my dog have declined so much in a matter of three days!!!! I am convinced it was the vaccines!!! Don't vaccinate your dog(s)! Oftentimes, the vaccines are NOT necessary!!! They want to make money!!! The worst part is the doctor phoned me late afternoon on Monday to tell me my dog's bloodwork came in, and I have a perfectly healthy 13 1/2-year-old pup! read more

This place sped up my dog's death. We brought our cocker spaniel in because of a skin rash that he had been struggling with for about a month. After a brief examination, they said he had a yeast infection and sent us home with three different meds; one for his ears, and one steroid. The entire treatment would last a month, but in two weeks we were told to come back for a free follow up appointment. We felt reassured that our dog would be feeling better but a few days before our free check up, the meds ran out. Our dog was still itching and the steroids only made him sleepy, depressed, and isolating. Then on the day of the checkup the vet's "schedule had changed." Our dog was still itchy with smelly, open sores and depressed. Despite his condition, the staff wasn't very sympathetic to our case. Instead they offered we rescheduled another appointment with a different Mountainview doctor but we'd have to fork over another $150. Even more insulting was their offer to re-prescribe the steroid and up the dosage, despite being told that the drugs weren't helping our dog whatsoever. They said the meds were something of a substitute treatment since we refused to have a diagnostic test because, according to us, it was too costly. This was a boldfaced lie because they never offered us any test. They merely threw drugs at us and sent us home with a very sick dog. Watching my dog's health rapidly decline was very disturbing and difficult to go through. Finally, we brought our pet to an emergency clinic and that's when the E.R Doctor told us of Mountain view's negligence. The steroids worsened his condition and added extra strain to his body, so the whole treatment we were issuing was more of a death sentence than actual help. Second, they should have ran a diagnostic test to gather an accurate diagnosis because he was far too old (14 years) to have medication carelessly thrown at him. His body wasn't as strong as it used to be and instead of working on an actual solution they made incompetent assumptions. In the end our E.R doctor concluded that our dog had a much worse underlying condition, possibly cancer, that Mountain view failed to pick up on. Instead of owning up to their mistakes or actually trying to make themselves more decent, they lie and blame owners for "refusing treatments" when nothing was recommended in the first place. This place sucks it's one of the smallest clinics I have ever seen, the head doctor of this clinic is a very poor example of an actual practicing veterinarian Doctor B sucks at call backs and ensuring positivity when it comes to a diagnosis she told me that my dog had a Malignant mass on his neck without having an ultrasound done or even a fine needle aspirate to figure out the size or even what kind of cells were in the mass. I highly don't recommend this clinic, fuck this place as well the techs are just as bad. This place is disappointing after going there for years. A year ago today my 15 year old dog Kasey came in for routine shots. Dr. Schneider told me she can get bordetella and distemper at the same time. Then I remembered Kasey gets an allergic reaction so she gave a Benadryl shot and jabbed it in her back. I saw Kasey jerk back. When I was on my way home she started screaming and having what looked like a stroke. I rushed her right back to the vet, she was lifeless and couldn't stand. We had to put her down. I called Dr. Boggier for weeks after and she never returned my call after years of taking care of Kasey with pancreatitis, bladder cancer, anxiety, etc. I was showed no compassion from her or a call back. I would stay far away from this place. The only reason it has 1 star is because of the vet tech Lauren, who was great and compassionate and stayed by my side. My new puppy will never go there and that's a shame. read more

Had an extremely unpleasant situation due to a staff members mistake I was treated like a criminal for questioning a $400 bill for a spay that was suppose to be $20 for a rescue kitten. Thought the situation had been resolved I paid what they asked I just called to make an appointment and was told we were not welcome. I have my own animals, but I also work closely with a rescue organization, so I am a frequent flyer at Mountainview. As a longtime pet owner (and former vet tech), I can say that the level of care, expertise, and compassion from the Mountainview staff is far beyond anything I have ever witnessed elsewhere. They have somehow managed to foster a "small town" atmosphere, while still staying at the forefront of modern veterinary medicine. I have seen all of the doctors at some point (and they all are wonderful!) but I most often see Dr. Loftin. She is thorough and diligent in her work, and kind and empathetic in her demeanor. She will always personally follow up after appointments and she will not rest until an animal is comfortable. My fosters often come in with a lot of medical needs, and I have watched her go above and beyond for them and for my own pets on countless occasions. In addition, the technician/assistant staff members at Mountainview are truly exceptional. They seamlessly and tactfully work through busy hours, managing clients, assisting with appointments, and doing treatments. They keep the place running smoothly, and are so helpful in accommodating pets and their owners. You can tell that they really love their jobs and really love the animals! One of my mom's friends recommended this vet because she said they "pay so much attention to your pet, they hardly notice you're in the room". I just brought my kitty to see Dr. Boggier for the first time. I found him when he was 5 days old, so we're both pretty attached to each other. From the moment she walked in, she treated my baby as if it were her own. She even spoke in the high squeaky "baby voice" we all talk to our animals in. I feel she's honest, knowledgeable, & genuinely loves her job. My cat is not genuinely feisty, but the only time he does hiss or growl is usually at the vet. Not a peep with Dr. B. In fact, he was purring! So nice to work with a vet who isn't burnt out & callous. The price was very reasonable also, which, after having to pay for treating a kitty with renal failure, was very refreshing :-) read more

Drs Boggier and Schneider couldn't have been more compassionate and gentle with our fur baby. Everyone was so kind. ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!!!! Brought my 3 year old teacup yorkie there on Friday Night very sick. She has been sick for months and treated for an illness called HGE. When she had another attack of it Friday night with not many places open I called and was told to come in. I met with Dr. Boggier who confirmed that my dog was very ill and her heart rate was low. My dog had also dropped down to 2.7 lbs from 3.3 lbs since she was last hospitalized in April or May. Dr. Boggier convinced me that she was misdiagnosed and believed she had Addison's disease. She seemed very nice and understanding at the time. I asked if my dog was suffering as she had been crying and because I have a young child who loves her dog so much! I was crying as it is so sad and scary seeing her this sick. I was told she just didn't feel well. With that the Dr. gave me a cell number to text her the next day to see how she reacted to the medicine she was given. Unfortunately, we did not see any improvement. Sunday still no improvement, so the Dr. recommended a test be done and said she would send me an estimate. She asked if this was something I was willing to do, and responded that I would do what I have to do (mind you I've already spent over 7k dollars on treatments). I never got a time to bring the dog today nor an estimate. The Dr. text me this morning at 7:41 saying I could bring her anytime after 7:30. I called the office a little after 9, as I didn't realize she had text me earlier. I was told to bring her in and the test would take 1-2 hours. With my 6 year old with me I figured we would go and stay in the area since that wasn't a lot of time. When I get there I'm informed it's an 8 hour test. I was given an estimate of close to 800 dollars and didn't flinch at the cost to help figure out why this 3 year old dog was so sick (regardless that money is tight due to the pandemic). This was around 11am. I was stuck at work doing a job that I can't stop as I have clients, but got concerned that I'd heard nothing and it's now 8:40pm. I call and am told they are keeping my dog over night. I was confused by this as they are not there overnight and I didn't want to leave our dog who was so sick alone. The girl on the phone was clueless when I said my dogs name and that I was calling to see what was going on. I was upset as I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. The Dr got on the phone with me yelling at me and cursing because I questioned what was going on and why no one had reached out. It ends up they injected my dog with a number of things but they conducted the test wrong! I asked why no one called me to tell me. With that she yells even more about how she doesn't get breaks and she bets I ate dinner. Well actually no I hadn't! She kept yelling and told me to pick up my damn dog but added a few more nasty words and hung up. I immediately drive to pick up my dog, and the Dr. comes out with no mask on screaming in my face and pointing yelling the F word and trying to claim I wanted my dog euthanized. I never wanted that! I asked if she was suffering....that's not saying you want a dog put to sleep! She then goes to get my dog and comes at me again cursing and yelling that I wanted the dog euthanized and about her problems (I should've thought twice since she was bad mouthing a client in front of me on Friday). I requested the records of what was done and when so I could get the dog help as contrary to her saying the dog was doing really well, she was and is obviously not. I have already been told multiple times by multiple vets that her condition is life threatening if she keeps dropping weight and not responding to treatments. I requested that my credit card was not charged as the test was done wrong and she refused records because I won't pay nearly $800 for their mistake! She was beyond unprofessional. Having only a blank bill and her refusal to tell me when meds were given and her so close to my face screaming with no mask I went to the police. I will be filing charges for not wearing a mask and getting that close to me and screaming the way she was and for refusing to give me information I am entitled to. I am glad I didn't bring my daughter in as the Dr just came out screaming and pointing without even seeing if I was alone. A very nice officer called her as he saw how sick my dog is and witnessed her crying uncontrollably. The officer requested information so I could get the dog help and she refused any more info than what medications are on the bill. He validated my concern for her behavior as she was not nice to him either even after offering to go himself to pick up the information so I could get my dog help she obviously really needs. Now I have a dog who was injected with god knows what, crying, and no answers. I have a 6 year old hysterical because our dog is so sick and I have the vet who obviously needs to work on her people skills yelling at me and refusing to say "I'm sorry"! read more

Do NOT use this place! It was like pulling teeth trying to get the owner of the hospital who was my puppy's vet to get back to me! I called several times and was told by office staff that they would notify the vet that I was requesting a call back from her. Not only did she neglect to call me, but she forged my puppy's records stating that she requested my phone number (she already had my phone number from previous messages I had left). When I voiced my concern about the lack of proper communication, she then sent me a very unprofessional and rude email and essentially told me to take my business elsewhere. I understand that we are dealing with a pandemic right now, but that doesn't mean a vet should neglect a puppy's health and well being!!!! read more

I drive one hour and twenty minutes to see Dr. Boggier, Dr. Loftin, Dr. Ottoson or Dr. Voigt. All of the veterinarians are exceptional - effortless bedside manner, genuine concern for both patient and owner, compassionate understanding, patient in depth description of pets symptoms, etc. Dr. Boggier was very concerned about my cats symptoms - she made sure my cat was taken care of same day - no appointment and fully booked schedule. Dr. Loftin took care of Wiggs, gave him a full exam, gave me extra time, answered all of my questions and addressed any future concerns I may have. She even gave me her cell phone number if I needed to reach her after business hours. The technicians trained me to administer fluids at home. Lisa's expertise is invaluable. She showed me how to do it and more humane ways to do it. Celena is the pet whisperer. My cat does not like the comfort of anyone other than myself... that was until he met Celena. The ladies at the front desk,Nicole and Melissa, are always so helpful and positively delighted to help me, no matter what or how much I ask of them, they remain happy to assist. Drove over an hour for my senior dog's dental care after reading the amazing reviews for MountainView. The staff couldn't have been more kind and caring about little nacho. The office staff and veterinarians called me throughout his procedure while he was under anesthesia so i could hear how he was doing and to get my go-ahead on the bloodwork, teeth removal, etc. Very open about their pricing and cost break-down which means a lot to me. She's a true animal lover & it shows...my skittish chihuahua was at ease w/ her...she talked to him, tickled him, even kissed him! It's refreshing to see someone who enjoys their job...and does it well! The prices were very fair & she offered to work with me on the cost...it isn't just about money with her - she has a genuine caring for the welfare of her patients. Dr. Bogier and staff are the most caring, fantastic, thorough vet I have ever known. We have taken all our animals to her after visiting other vets in the Rockaway/Denville/Parsippany area. Believe me, we tried them all!! She was the ONLY vet that properly diagnosed any ailments we had with any of our animals. They NEVER overcharged us for meds, tests, etc. that NEEDED to be done to diagnose the problems. She gave us options and we took the ones that we felt were needed in the circumstances. When our first husky had to be put down due to complications with diabetes, she cried on the floor with us and she said a prayer for our dog. We now live in Branchburg, NJ and we continue to bring our animals the 45 min to an hour drive to Dr. B...We can't imagine any other vet that would be as loving and caring to our animals...We recently had an emergency where my 2 yr old husky went into anaphylactic shock, due to a bee sting on her tongue. Obviously we couldn't get to Rockaway in time, so we brought her to and ER vet in this area. I called Dr. B in the meantime and although she was dealing with a personal emergency of her own, she got right on the phone and cried with me as we were dealing with this tragic situation. The ER vet did what they could, but our puppy, Koda passed. Dr. B was in touch with the ER constantly while Koda was there for 2 days, and again, she was dealing with her own personal emergency...We now have a new husky puppy and when we brought her in last week for her first well visit, Dr. B sat and talked with us for as long as we needed her about Koda and again physically sat with us and cried. I would NEVER think about taking to our animals to another vet. I will drive the distance to have Dr. B and her staff take care of our puppy. They are the very best, and I have recommended many people to this vet who only have the most positive experiences with them. Thank you Dr. B and staff...we love you! read more

Impressed is an understatement! I am a new puppy owner to a beautiful Spaniel mix. We took her to a vet initially for her first appointment. We had noticed that she had red eyes and dry skin. They gave us almost no time, just threw some scary words like "mange" out us, with little explanation and a proposed bill of $400 to do diagnostics which wouldn't include any treatment. Since we got her through 11th hour, we decided to hold off and contact them first. They (11th hour) were great and agreed that they would cover any care if we used their people and sent us to Dr. Boggier. It was like heaven shone down. It turns out our pup does in fact have a type of mange, but one that she believes to be highly treatable. She spent so much time with us, explaining the issue, answering questions - even allowing us to view the mites under a microscope. She was so thorough and knowledgable with an amazing bedside manner. I had my 4 and 8 year old daughters with me who also were delighted with the visit. Every member of the office staff was warm, inviting, and welcoming. Finding out your new addition has such a condition can be quite scary. However, knowing that the doctor will be monitoring her, puts me at such ease. I am so grateful for the time spent and the genuine caring. It was a night and day difference from my first experience. Thank you Mountainview! read more
