Before relatives moved, they had work done for their road trip. Whoever was hired did a shoddy job and my family had to fix the problem where they moved. The owner of C.A.R. was informed. My husband and I started to go to him and we liked his honesty. However, it became clear he was overwhelmed with the work load, especially at his age. It would take days for him to fix our vehicle, and whoever he did hire didn't do a good job. This meant he often worked alone or with only one other guy. Queue to the last 3 years and any time we tried to get work done, the business looked closed. I tried calling. No answer. Then suddenly, the shop is back open. Ok. Great. Not so great. Just as quickly, the shop kept looking closed. Every once in awhile while doing errands, I swear the shop is open. Yet, no one answers the phone. It's very bizarre. Many have reported it closed, including myself, before I noticed the short periods of time where the business appears to be open. It's just not worth it. We've been going elsewhere. We are limited on where we can go since we only have one vehicle, so walking distance is a must. Right now it's Pep Boys for oil changes, and Motion Tire II for the rest (GREAT owner).

I had to take my Highlander to the Toyota dealership (a 30-minute drive down and back) to correctly install the monitors. It took the factory-trained mechanics only two hours to diagnose and complete the installation. I live two blocks away from Ojai Valley Imports, so it is convenient for me to take my car there... but never again!

I had been a customer of Richard's for several years (4-5?), but after today, no more…read more I took my truck in for an oil change. As part of the service they rotated my tires. The story I was told was that the weights that had been used to balance my tires when they were originally mounted (at Costco) were installed incorrectly. Consequently, when they moved my truck, the brake calipers to sheared the weights off on what were the rear tires (and had now been rotated to the front). This in-and-of itself isn't a huge deal. Things happen. Mistakes get made. I think it may be true that Costco installed the weights incorrectly. But, I also think that if you're going to rotate a tire, you should check the rim to make sure everything looks kosher before you put it back on the vehicle. What I definitely think you should not do is 1) Leave the bits of weight that didn't shear off stuck between the brake caliper and the rim because "you thought [the customer] might want to show the guys at Costco", 2) Get defensive with your customer when they ask questions to understand what happened, 3) Act like there's absolutely nothing you could have done differently to prevent the situation, 4) Raise your voice at your customer and tell them "I'm really disappointed". Richard's unwillingness to assume any measure of accountability or responsibility and his aggressive attitude about the whole situation are the reasons I'll never go back, and will advise anyone who asks to consider doing the same.

So im driving home from SF for a wedding and decided to take the 101 home. Im just about 2 minutes…read moreinto Goleta, when the car flat out dies. I managed to make into a gas station and start to panic. its 10pm on a Sunday. I had two options at this point, Tow it to LA for $100 then have it repaired or Leave it in Santa Barbara to be repaired and save $100. So I decided to save money, lucky for me I have a few friends in SB and they suggested me to take it to Quality Automotive Repair. AAA had a few recommended shops they endorsed, but my friends said take it Oscar. Monday morning the car was towed to QAR and Oscar went to work. I had to be back in los Angeles for work and kids and let Oscar do his thing. By 3pm he had done a few test and explained ever result he found. What needed to be fixed, how much it would cost and how long it would take. He also made suggestions for the future to help keep the car in better shape. So approved the work and he said the car would be done by tomorrow, barring anything new catastrophic findings. Following day, I was in my car running like I just rolled off the dealership. Taking my car to Quality Automotive Repair was a great choice. PS: I was driving home the other day and noticed that my exhaust pipe wasn't rattling around and driving me nuts. Oscar must of noticed it and fixed it without me knowing. Thanks Oscar!

Gentlemen that made the changes was awesome. He did a quick job and made sure everything was good. When we went to pay the lady at the counter OVER CHARGED my son. He mentioned to her that he spoke to her the day before and she had given him a lower quote. She completely denied it. She said if we didn't like it she can get the tired removed.
