One of the most comprehensive professional repair shops I've had work done at. I have an old 73 Bronco that I use as my daily driver. Took it in as the engine was severely underperforming; didn't know whether or not it needed rings, an engine rebuild or a complete new engine. They not only diagnosed the engine and issues but do the complete inspection on the vehicle. After the repairs, it's running better than ever. Brought my car here for the second time today to get my oil changed. . The staff is super friendly and welcoming and thorough. Updated my info, made sure they had my phone number, gave me an estimate in time. When they realized that I didn't live in the area they got the services done much quicker than the original estimated time (THANK YOU) and I was really appreciative of the overall experience. The staff is personable and kind... when I came back for my car, they went over the inspection with me instead of saying the typical "inspection came back good". TLDR - My quote doubled from when I called prior to making an appointment to the morning I drop my car off. Do not trust these guys The long version- I called around multiple places to get a quote for two specific fixes. I needed somewhere close to me as one of the issues was making my car not very drivable so chose these guys. Made an appointment for a week out. Caleb was very smooth talking and nice on the phone. Quoted 200-300 for valve cover gasket replacement. I show up after having waited a week for an appointment and not being able to drive my car and they have no record of my appointment, vehicle, etc. I confirm the quote before leaving and he again says 200-300, when I press for a specific number, he 'checks with his guys' and all of a sudden comes back and says $450!! Which would not have even come up until after they did the work had I not pressed hard. Take your business elsewhere. read more

If you're looking for transparency and quality service AWS Automotive is the place to go. On Thanksgiving day, my Honda Accord unfortunately ran over brick-sized debris/concrete, which dented my wheels and caused a misalignment/annoying car vibration. Desperate for immediate repair, I called AWS Automotive --my brother recommended them--on Black Friday. Though I heard that their labor may be more pricey compared to actual car dealerships, their honesty and quality of work does not pale in comparison to other locations. So I gave them a shot. During my initial call, I was greeted by Caleb. Now, don't be alarmed by his perfect articulation - Caleb helped assuage the entire ordeal. He explained everything clearly, had a concrete plan, and answered all of my questions sincerely. After undergoing an initial inspection, I learned that the bent rims required immediate replacement. I had received a report containing pictures of the damage, and even a video demonstrating the issue. When Caleb went through the diagnostics and the recommendations for repair he had mentioned that his prices were cheaper than those around. Before giving AWS the go, however, I had initially asked around local Honda shops to see if they had better deals -- I didn't believe Caleb, I thought he was merely using a sales tactic. To my surprise, he was totally right, not because of sheer coincidence, but because he actually called other dealerships! The Honda peeps said, "Oh weren't we just talking to you about the same car?" After getting Honda's price, the cost was nearly double the amount of AWS's! O_O. So it was a no brainer to go through with AWS. This goes to show that Caleb does his research FOR THE BENEFIT OF HIS CLIENTS. I admire Caleb for his genuine interest in his client's getting the best bang for their buck. Though there was a temporal mishap with obtaining the new rims from another shop ('Rona affected shipping speed), which eventually led to fixing my car several days than the proposed day, Caleb updated me EVERY DAY. He even shared the FedEx tracking number! Caleb was transparent throughout the entire process. Overall, I highly recommend checking out AWS Automotive, because you can't beat their prices (though maybe my brother felt it was a little pretentious because he had a Subaru checked out), their quality of work, customer service, honesty, and transparency. If I could rate him 0 I WOULD!!! He literally charged over $2,000 for axels and output shaft seal! I do not own a Mercedes! It's a 2007 Nissan! After looking it all up -and paying, I saw that the parts cost for both axels is $150 and the seal is $20. He charged me over $1,100 for these parts. And $800 in labor. I'd understand to pay $1000(which is a lot) but OVER $2000! I feel stupid and taken advantage of! As a woman, we trust these people will be honest! They didn't even fix what I came in for!! 11/3/22 Sent my 2009 Jeep in for a non starting issue that had me baffled. The tech at AWS spent time going over the obvious potential solutions and performed various diagnosis checks but could not get the car to run. He then spent time working with a high tech from Jeep and found the issue, corrected it and got my Jeep running like new. The solution found was entirely obscure....something myself and Jeep techs had not considered. I very much appreciate the AWS tech's persistence with my Jeeps issue as I know this one would have stumped the average repair shop (and dealership). AWS is still my "go to" for vehicle repairs that I cannot perform myself. read more

Very disappointed, car broke down Thanksgiving AM was towed to one shop that guy did not show then had towed to AWS to have the radiator fixed. I was literally robbed, charged $832 and they didn't do all the work that is required on a radiator. I called other local shops including radiator shops to learn I was taken. I went to AWS last week for the first time, and honestly, this place deserves 6 stars. This was the best auto shop experience I've ever had! First, Caleb, the owner and first person you meet when you walk in, is the kindest, most attentive, and most honest shop manager you could ever hope to run into. I ended up having to be there longer than expected due to some unforeseen issues with my car, and Caleb chatted me up, gave me a cup of coffee, and checked in with me several times to see how I was doing. During this time, I watched Caleb interact with several other customers and he was consistently patient, generous, and invested in the needs of his clients. He knows that, for many people, having a vehicle that runs well can mean the difference between functioning healthily and having your life fall apart. The prices are reasonable and the work is thorough. I went in initially for an oil change and routine inspection service, and the technician found several issues, which I consented to being repaired on the spot. After completion, I was immediately emailed a very comprehensive inspection report with tons of details about the work and tests performed, and lots of before/after pictures. This was so helpful! Then, a few days later, I got an email from Caleb checking in to see how things were going. Everything was fine, he was just following up. This is beyond customer service, this is community service! AWS Automotive is the only place I will take my car to get work done as long as I live here. It is evident that they view themselves as a part of the Ventura community and are incredibly responsible with how they run things as a result. I was camping in Ventura when I had a hiccup with my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2001. It was 8am and AWS was the only garage I found open! I went in hoping they could take care of my car the same day and that the repairs wouldn't cost too much, but they took us in right away! And we were out less than two hours later! I just moved to Ventura and I'm happy that I've found good local honest mechanics at AWS. My 1999 4Runner was having a strange issue with the idle that was causing it to shift strangely and stall at an idle (even on the freeway when I was off the gas pedal for 30 seconds... kinda scary). I know enough about working on cars to be dangerous and I thought I had isolated the problem to the Idle Air Control unit (IAC). When i took the throttle body off and tried to install a new one myself I immediately stripped the Phillips head bolts trying to get the old one off. Pretty lame. I knew it was time for professional help so I managed to get the throttle body back on and limp my truck over to AWS. Caleb was extremely courteous and professional, and the communication was excellent from start to finish.They replaced the IAC and unfortunately my junior diagnosis was incorrect and the truck was still running terribly. I knew Caleb was feeling my pain and really shared my frustration. When they then tried replacing a faulty oxygen sensor and it didn't solve the problem Caleb ended up not charging me anything for it. At that point he called and explained that it could be an issue with the computer. It was the end of the day on Friday and I was looking at being without my ride for the weekend. But... lo and behold! Caleb says he can give me a sweet loaner mini-van for the weekend until they got me sorted on Monday (and it was a really great ride and saved my butt over the weekend). Awesome. Long story longer, when Monday rolls around they were able to trace the problem to a throttle position sensor. Even though I was prepared to spend money on a new computer they ended up getting me out the door for about $300 LESS than I was anticipating. Wait.... whaaaatt???... they called to tell me it was going to be $300 LESS than I was expecting? I'm speechless (in a good way). My baby is running AMAZING now and to top it off, Caleb sent me a note to tell me they would take $30 off my next service and to thank me for being a new customer. Pretty good stuff guys. After interacting with Caleb, the appraiser told me that, out of the Santa Barbara and Ventura County areas that she serves, there are 2 shops that she feels really put the customer first. One of those shops is AWS. I've been using AWS for years. I love the technology that allows me to approve repairs by text and those repairs are always quickly completed. I have never had unnecessary work suggested to me - absolutely no fails and everything is done right. AWS completes the work for a fair price and gets me back on the road, ASAP. This is a really nice, well organized, clean shop. But most important - the insurance appraiser is right. AWS is all about integrity and excellent service. I was very pleased with the clutch replacement job AWS Larry did on my 2008 Scion tC. My clutch burned out on the 101 about 15 miles away from AWS. After shopping around on Yelp, I had the tow truck take it to AWS, which received the car without me there. They fronted the towing charge and just added it on to my final bill. I was out of town for a week, so they held on to the car until I was able to pick it up, which was on a Sunday, when AWS is closed. So they put my car key inside a secure lockbox and gave me the code, and I got it at night. Having the new clutch felt like learning how to drive stick all over again (a good thing). I paid a little more than I would've liked to, but compared to the other shop I checked out in Carpinteria, the price was similar. They had to remove the entire transmission to replace the clutch, and then put the transmission back in, so it's an all-day job, which is never going to be cheap at a decent auto shop. The one hitch that ended up being fine is that when I picked up the car, I noticed that the power windows and power sun roof were malfunctioning -- as a result of something the mechanic had done when working on my car. Thankfully the fix was easy. Larry said I can bring the car in whenever I'd like and they'd fix it. But since I live in LA driving to Ventura for a minor problem was not an option. So Larry emailed me detailed instructions on how I could reprogram those features in about 10 seconds. It worked. I would trust AWS to do a good job on my car if it ever breaks down again. read more

It's been awhile since I've been here and aparently the buisness was sold. I believe however the new owner was already part of the team so I'm sure they would have the same care to details and personalized service they had before. Awhile back I learned a seriously costly,lesson! My car broke down and I requested the tow truck driver to take me home and he starts going the opposite direction & When I brought that to his attention he started to tell me about another mechanic that was better & more affordable and also,started telling me basically personal gossip about the owners.of the 2 shops & their women. You would think right then I should have caught a blue if I hadn't when he went the opposite way. Bottom line is the other mechanics place despite all the showy certificates plastered all over RUINED MY CAR!! He,was,intimidating so I didn't follow thru with having AAA investigate him which I seriously regret as well as I am now bus bound. So the lesson is even though this place is a bit pricy they did fix any problems I had with the repair. at he old owner let me make a,couple payments on part of the bill. These guys were super helpful to me and my band. Our van broke down so we had it towed here. They did a fast inspection and told us immediately what was going on. Though we unfortunately couldn't afford the repair, Michael and Caleb gave us a place to keep the van while we figured out what to do. They were extremely patient with us coming in and out as we moved our stuff out of the van and sold it for parts. They even offered to get rid of it if we couldn't get rid of it ourselves. 2 years ago I took my car in to have the clutch re done which was all fine and dandy and at first everything seemed all peachy until I had to get a new clutch this year again and come to find out AWS cut off my throttle body hose to make it "fit better" because it's an awkward shaped hose. I know it was them because I have not taken anywhere else and haven't had any major work done to even get to that hose. AWS charges way to much for minimal work to be done on vehicles.
