If you want CURRENT specials check Facebook. Here's an idea , on your website tell people to check your facebook for weekly specials if you're not gonna keep up with them. This place is a combo of a butcher shop and small country food store. The staff here is always friendly and happy to assist. This is just a cute little place that treats you like family. They have a huge variety of fresh meats. They also carry jams, jellies, produce, miscellaneous food items, and snack items. Their hotdogs are really good and I'm told that they supply them for a professional sports team stadium in Maryland. They usually have a table of fresh baked goods, and they also have various types of cheesecake. What I truly go here for is their sides. They have small and large containers of offerings such as coleslaw, potato salad, macaroni and cheese salad, etc. The sides are always fresh and taste like homemade, not weird and artificial tasting like the gross sides that you get in food stores. The sides are perfect if you just want to make a quick meal at home after you throw some burgers on the grill. I was also able to grab my pup a pig ear on the way out. Tried multiple times to order a quarter beef and they never called me to take the order. I went to their office twice over a two week period. Both times I was told the main butcher guy will call me. When I was in their office I told the receptionist I know I want to order it but they didn't want to take my deposit. Makes absolutely no sense. read more

We make the drive every couple of months to get high quality meat. If you watch the sales the prices are really good too.

We have purchased bone-in chicken breasts at Hoffmans twice, and they were rotten, no, literally smelled like decaying meat when opened. We love their sausage, but beware their "fresh" not frozen chicken, especially "bone-in". read more

I have bought a lot of meat from them in the past and have been very happy with it. Yesterday I ordered 4 pounds of beef suet (fat from around the kidneys). What I got was a 4 pound package of cut up bones. I had to go to another butchers to get my suet. read more

My sister bought me what was supposed to be chicken breasts with skin, but no bones. I wanted them for a specific recipe. She bought these around Thanksgiving (2020). When she came to my place, I immediately froze them for a later date. Well, I thawed them yesterday in their original packaging, which was done up for freezing. Upon thawing, I discovered that they had bones. I was furious. My sister had made arrangements to get those specific specifications and was told that particular cut (without bones) had "come in." Absolutely terrific fresh meat & seafood market, with a small "gourmet" grocery shop and a large selection of fresh-made deli items. Overall, Hagerstown has three great meat markets (Penn Ave Meats and Holsingers being the other two), but Hoffman's is arguably the best. I have purchased hamburger meat , cubed steaks , and chicken from here and the smell is just horrible !! Also slimey so I immediately thought the meat was bad also cooked some chicken before and the taste was not good had to throw all of it out ....was informed by a person who use to work there that they regrind their meat and resell it after it is out of date and that they freeze out of date chicken then unfreeze it and resell it this place is going to get people sick smh I will never go back after smelling that meat they are lucky my family and I did not get sick ! Hoffman's is a fantastic local butcher shop that sells fresh meat and deli items. Their foods are high quality and affordable. I could do without the grocery section, but the meat and deli counters are definitely worth a visit. If you have not tried Hoffman's breakfast sausage, you're missing out! It's fresh and favorable, unlike the over-processed stuff! It can be found at local grocery stores, too. read more

I purchased half a pound of Hoffman's Country Pudding to have on my pancakes this weekend. I have never tasted such bland stuff in my 72 years. It was so dry, you could not even convince me it was pork. I am throwing the remaining portion out, I can not eat it. read more

I am a carnivore without a doubt. I know quality meat versus supermarket discount meats. Hoffmann clearly is a butcher shop that provides superior quality and customer service. When you walk in you are not accosted by the smell of raw meat; it smells clean and looks the same way too. Staff are always helpful and ask if you have any questions---and if you do they answer you honestly. Unlike others they do not always offer you the highest price item as the solution. Their sausage is homemade and tastes like it too---the meat is not ground up too small or too large.with many choices, you can't go wrong! read more

I tried this butchers when we first moved into the area. I ordered several pound of veal shanks to make osso bucco. They looked great, it was only when I got home that I found that they were mostly bone with the meat side up. Fool me once. read more
