I did not want to post this review. I wanted to give Tom as much of an opportunity as possible to respond to my issues. But after a couple of months here, it seems obvious I am less than an afterthought. I paid my money just like the rest of them and I deserved better. This is excerpts of the message I sent to him over a month ago, to which he never replied: Your lodge is quite well put together and I was very comfortable with my stay... Matt and Tyler are quite friendly and I enjoyed my time with them. Trinity was pleasant company... everyone there was terrific to spend time with. When I look back at the experience as a whole however, I end up being disappointed. I never go into a hunting trip expecting to come home with the maximum limit on all ends, as we all know part of the game is the chance. All the same it was quite a disappointing take I brought home in the end, and there are a couple of factors I think should be brought up...Twice, I was brought to the same blind behind the lodge, even though the first time there was no traffic at all and no indication any game was going to be coming through. When I was brought out to another spot for a late-night hunt, There was not a single thing seen all night there as well. However, I ended up being brought back to that same spot two more times, only to end up not seeing a single animal the entire time. The only time I actually did see any game at all... over to your enclosed pen area. The small area seemed to be a bit of a setup. While I did end up getting a rather small hog one day, it was not what I would consider a fair way to track and hunt... on another day, when my brother arrived and we were brought back to that same area. This was the only other time I ever saw any animals... Having two other guides chase small hogs right towards us is definitely not what I would call "fair chase", although your web site explicitly states all of your hunting is done as fair chase. In the end, we were presented with what could only be described with a toddler of a hog. Our final morning seemed like we were all just pushed into one very small area with multiple blinds on different ends of it., with quite a small chance of finding anything. As I understand it, out of the five or six of us who were taken over to this area, no one saw a single thing all morning. ...I know to some this may seem like I am just griping after the fact. But truly, I was given quite a different expectation when I first called and asked about the opportunities presented on the properties. I was told flat out, "You are going to see a whole lot of good hogs, that is a guarantee". and as far as the deer, I was also told, "There are plenty of deer out here and you will have some really good chances at those"... the dead time was too plentiful and the good game never materialized. My brother also tried to be a good sport about his time there, but I could tell he was very disappointed in the experience. Being run up and down a hill while an ATV was chasing a hog all around, he was simply exhausted after a short time and was too tired to even shoot straight after all of the running around... I was not expecting extravagant meals every day, but I got the impression most times that I was left to the wayside, being the only one there for a couple of nights. One night, I was simply told, "There are a bunch of leftovers in the fridge so you can help yourself to whatever". I am not spoiled, and I do not expect royal treatment. On Friday, when the other groups were arriving, there was no mention of anything so I ended up going to the kitchen and making myself lunch with whatever was in the fridge, mainly more leftovers. But I did get to hear all about the great dinner that was being planned for the night after I was leaving. ... after I got home with my cooler, and was going through the meat that had been dressed out. Being very small hogs, there was not much meat to start with, but one of the hams and another shoulder was caked with dirt. The ham, I was able to cut away the dirt that would not wash out (there was a lot), and was left with a small knuckle of meat. The shoulder was so run full of dirt, I had to throw half of it out. I edited for space, but this was it and I never heard back, not even a hollow "sorry". Keep this in mind when he promises the moon to you. read more

I hunted with Hog Wild USA for over 10 years and always bring home the bacon. Anyone that knows hunting knows it's not catching. I have stat 9 days in stands on my brother n laws 100 acres and not seen anything worth shooting. And I have gotten in the tree stand early and been done by 7:30 AM. The pigs are there, you just have to be in the right spot at the right time. Logging is clean and the food has been good. Just be sure to have worked out the details before you get there. read more

I'm perplexed with reviewing this place, as it did offer a guaranteed hog as well as hours in a treestand, and the opportunity to say I've hunted down south. The website material would have you believe the guaranteed pig is due to high success rates, but in reality it's because it was in their fenced 80 acres with the 'guide' chasing it to you on a 4 wheeler. The 2.5 day hunt was 3 night hunts free range and this preserve hunt during one day. In 20+ hours of sitting over the 3 night hunts over 3 guys none of us saw or heard any hogs. We did see deer and other critters. Of the 3 nights, our guide was 1.5 hours late for pickup night 1. 1 hour 15 minutes late on night two where we walked out through the swamp ourselves to drive out only to be stuck behind a locked gate, waiting even longer to hear about car trouble and leaving his phone at home, and night 3 he was right on time for pickup because tips were due. Each night we had a pre-agreed pickup time that was long missed, not like just letting him know with a text when we had enough and giving him time to get there. I found it tacky that the guide was making sure we knew we had to pay him 'guide fees' before he took us into the preserve, even got into a speakerphone debate with the owner in front of us about why that isn't on the website yet. Turns out he was talking about tip which we are all well aware of and ultimately paid. Sure wish we felt like it was earned. There is a reason there are no photos of the cabin. Though I don't expect much, it hit that nail on the head. It was freshly cleaned and had linens and AC. I know there is no guarantee hunting, so taking meat home via a fence hunt is unique benefit. Doing so via a 4 wheeler chasing it to you can feel questionable. Though you absolutely get hours of fair chase opportunity for luck, I wouldn't call it a guide as much as a ride. He set us up in areas with bad wind direction. Having to turn the 4 wheeler around in the swamp, knocked a 3" tree down right in line of bait in my shooting lane and left it for 2 nights. Didn't ask really if we even saw anything. When you are a guide and want to really work your stands you need that input from the guys putting the time in them. To not even ask really speaks to not really caring. Certainly came out of hog camp with some stories to share for years and by that and great company of friends I don't regret the hunt. Just wish they were stories to drum up some awe, not all laughs via sympathy. read more

I am very late in writing this review, but I rarely pay attention to reviews and just now saw some of the negative ones on Yelp. My experience has been one day hunts. I came up empty on 2 of my 3 hunts, one of which was treated as a "come back hunt" and did not cost me the full price to return. Tommy and his guide, Matt, have always been accommodating. My brother-in-law from NY state was with me for our day hunt where we came up empty, and he is returning as a "come back hunter" in January 2024. They keep their word. I went alone in August on another day hunt, arriving late afternoon. Matt showed me a trail camera that had photos of hog activity near one bait site. Matt dropped me off at the tree stand around 5:30 pm and stayed in contact, offering to change my location if there was no action. I remained, determined to stay until a hog showed up, and sure enough, at about 11 p.m. a hog showed up and I got a successful shot off. Matt came back out to confirm my kill, as I could not determine if I had actually dropped the hog. Matt was great, even was excited for me (basically a rookie hunter at age 69), as the hog was just under 300 lbs. Matt dragged it out of the site and drove back to the lodge where he cut up the hog and packed it for me into my ice chest, finishing at 2:30 a.m. Yes, a separate fee is paid for cutting up the hog, and yes, a tip is expected. But, hey, they respond to you when you contact them from your location, regardless of the hour of night or day. And if you're new to hunting like I was, you get treated respectfully and can observe how the entire process goes and aren't made to feel stupid. As a hunting novice, no way could I have by myself done the loading of the hog onto the trailer, hung it from the rack, cut it up, and packed it properly into the cooler. I can't imagine working a job where I can't get off work until my customer gets tired or succeeds on the hunt at different, random hours of the day or night. Hunting, as I'm told, provides no guarantees that you'll come away with your intended prey. As an additional observation, Hog Wild has also improved its lodging, which I have not used for overnight hunting but have seen when I needed to use the restroom. My impression was a very clean, recently renovated lodging facility. You can't please everyone all the time, but Hog Wild has done right by me. I'm looking forward to seeing them again with my brother-in-law in early January! read more

Had an absolutely terrible time after booking a three day deer and pig hunt. I was kind of concerned after seeing the accomodations, I should have followed my instincts and left then. First day there buddy got a 8 point right out of the gate, not a trophy but a respectable deer. I didn't see fresh hog sign nor a single deer from my ladder stand despite sitting there for 5 hours. Probably because we were so close together the shot scared anything else away. The "guide" that we had called a guy to cape it out who showed up drunk off his @$$ and skinned the deer like he was Helen Keller. It took close to three hours from loading the deer to having it in the ice chest and cost an extra $80. Skinning rack was feet from the Dog runs so we got to enjoy the smell of dog $hit while seeing his deer literally butchered by a drunk dude, and not butchered as in processed, just hacked up. The next morning got to a box stand sitting on the ground around five and sat there till 10, not a single pig nor deer, heck not even a squirrel. Buddy sat in a ladder stand and didn't see anything either. That evening hunt same story, ladder stand and not a sign of pigs that was less than a couple weeks old. Asked the "guide" what pigs were coming into this food plot and what times they were coming through and all I could get was "there's pigs all though here". Asked what was showing up on the cameras, no cameras there. No cameras on the sites we hunted that morning either. So I asked what part of this paid hunt was the "guided" part? Dude got butthurt. Got to texting the owner while sitting in the stand and he couldn't tell me what was coming to this plot nor what time to expect anything through there. He said there was a pig taken in that plot a couple weeks ago at 9:00pm and one taken at 2:30am. I'm guessing he expected us to sit there in this ladder stand for 12hrs? I decided to cut the hunt short after hearing his plans to "guarantee" our pig kill by taking us to caged pigs and herding them in front of us using a fourwheeler. I noted out and was lucky enough to make him give us half our money back, some had not been so lucky and had not been able to get anything back judging by these reviews. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS OUTFIT TO MY MORTAL ENEMIES. I WOULDN'T EVEN SEND JOE BIDEN HUNTING HERE. read more
