I work all muscle groups over a two day period. I found the gym to have a good variety of equipment that covers all muscle groups and most muscle groups at multiple angles. The gym is clean and fairly well maintained. The gym has a nice layout that caters well to the varied needs of their different clients. The front of the gym has plenty of cardio equipment consisting of treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, rowing machines and stair steppers. Also toward the front of the gym is lighter duty cable type weight machines. The front area serves the needs of the "older" locals and less experienced clients trying to keep themselves in shape or getting themselves back in shape. The back of the gym has the heavy duty free weight equipment that is used by the serious weightlifters. The middle section is populated with dumbbells and machines that are more crossover between both groups. If you are looking for a trendy gym with the latest state of the art gear where you can go to show off your new awesome workout clothes this is not the gym for you. If you are looking for a clean, family run gym with excellent customer service where you can feel comfortable regardless of your skills of fitness level, this is the right gym.

I've dealt with injuries my whole life. I love running outside, but it seems that my tendons and joints weren't able to handle it. I would end up with knee pain, Achilles' tendonitis, or a hamstring tear and have to stop running for a few weeks. Every time I would lose all my momentum. I could never succeed in a consistent running program, now matter how slowly I progressed through it. And of course, running indoors on the treadmill or elliptical is SO BORING! Trying to go consistently to the gym was impossible for me. I'd either end up injured or make excuses not to go. The solution to ALL of my problems was Tribe. I've never been to a gym that I've been EXCITED to go workout in with a staff that cares so much. Here's a few reasons why I love it. 1) Matt and Ruthie are absolutely AMAZING trainers. They always take the time to teach us how to do the workouts with proper form, and they watch us every second to make sure we maintain it. They constantly give helpful tips and tricks on how to lift safely (which is incredibly important). And the best part is that they're always so encouraging through the workout. They genuinely want you to succeed! 2) Tribe workouts are SO MUCH FUN!!!! Every time I finish a workout I can't WAIT to go again. Yes they're challenging and kick my butt, but you're only there for 45 minutes and the WODs are no more than 25 minutes. It makes it possible for you to push yourself for the entire workout. We do something different every day, so that means I'm always learning something new or improving on something. It works your brain and your body. I've never gotten bored in a Tribe workout! Plus nothing can describe the happiness I felt when I mastered kipping pull ups and double unders. 3) Tribe is for everyone. Seriously. The workouts are hard, but the trainers will scale down the weight or technique so it's just right for you, and you can progress and build as you get stronger and more comfortable. The first few weeks are tough because you're challenging your body in completely new ways, but once you get adjusted it feels AMAZING. I haven't run in 6 months and I was able to run an 8:47 minute mile (my fastest before was an 11:30 after 2 months of running, and then I got injured). Yowza! The workouts are always hard, but as you gain strength it becomes quite bearable and now, I absolutely love the intensity! 4) Finally, my favorite part: no injuries!!!!! I'm getting stronger every week, lifting more weight and reaching PR's, gaining muscle. It's made a huge difference. I've never been able to work out for 3 months straight, 3 times a week without getting injured. And now, I'm finally there. I'm never going back to a regular gym. Ever.

Harmony Hot Yoga, Pilates & Aerial Center: The Gem of the South…read more As soon as you enter this impeccable space, it is immediately apparent this is a place of sanctuary. The clean lines, the gorgeous wood, the smiling faces who greet you as soon as you enter: this is THE PLACE to be healed, inside and out. I have had the pleasure of teaching at several yoga studios across the nation, and to take a number of workshops and classes at even more of them. By far, Harmony is the most refined, state-of-the-art studio I have ever practiced. Harmony was conceived in the spirit of authenticity, and studio owners Kay and Dewey Forrester are undeterred in their mission to spread the message of restoration and well-being to the Milledgeville community and beyond. They have structured their life in the essence of agape`, the Christian term for "the highest form of love" and "the love of God for man and of man for God," and it certainly shows. The hot Bikram and Vinyasa classes will realign your spine and make you feel as if you can take on the world, but there are other offerings at this studio that will appeal to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Inferno Hot Pilates classes consist of full-body High Intensity Interval Training--using controlled movements to achieve long, lean muscle--and Tabata--a method whereby eight sets of an exercise are conducted in two and a half minutes, 20 seconds of activity followed by 10 seconds of rest. These classes are as addictive as their positivity is infectious, and the group energy of the Harmony regulars is positively unprecedented. For those of you seeking something with a bit more levity and less heat, aerial yoga provides just that: stretching through the use of trapeze silks. It is an interesting and fun way to engage muscle groups using the silk as a prop. Caribbean-inspired dance classes and gentler yoga offerings are also provided. All of these classes are beginner-accessible, and this studio has a knack for attracting the most knowledgeable and committed instructors around to help you along the way. The Forresters have committed their lives to improving the quality of life for their friends and neighbors, and they are a visible testament to living in accordance with the higher power who compelled them to this path. Whether you are a seasoned yogi, looking to spice up your fitness routine, or a complete fitness newbie, this is certainly the place for you. Please visit http://www.harmonyhotyoga.com/ to see schedule times and to book your new favorite class today! You may also telephone (478) 454-8806 for any inquiries before your first class. From entering the door to the moment you leave, you can trust you will be cared for here. Located at 1841 North Columbia Street Suite C in Milledgeville, please make sure to drop in to Harmony Hot Yoga Pilates & Aerial Center. When it comes to fitness, community, and 100% heart, this is truly the gem of the South.

It's a fairly small place, but it's got what I need: treadmills, bikes and elliptical trainers, and a nice selection of weight machines and free weights. Daily classes for those who want them, along with a tanning room and individual showers/changing rooms. Dan and Gisela, the owners, are there daily, they'll greet you when you walk in, and they work hard to keep the place nice. I see a lot of the same people there from day to day, and it's a nice change from the slightly cheesy meat-market atmosphere I've encountered at some other gyms other the years. Like I said, no BS here -- just the stuff you need to stay fit, in a safe, clean, welcoming environment. One last comment: I usually visit in the mornings, and there is never a crowd or a problem accessing equipment, even when school is in. It's a bit more crowded in the evenings, but I have never waited more than a couple of minutes for a treadmill. There's 24 hour access by key card, too. If you need a pool, a sauna, a country-club locker room, or some exotic piece of high-tech fitness machinery, this isn't the place. Otherwise, give it a try!

Everything from classes, the design, what little new equipment there is and more. Gym equipment is dated (well maintained but dated). New technology built into new weight machines provides enhanced muscle stimulation. Most of the equipment has been in the gym for over 17 years. Additionally, an annual charge to members goes into a pot for updates. One of the most recent updates was for the purchase of cross training equipment that is kept under lock and key for only training with a purchase of a trainer. Other reasons not to attend: humidity from the pool causes mold growth in some areas, there's little to no room for stretching or performing body weight exercises such as box jumps, kettlebell swings or even push ups.

One thing I've noticed is that the facility is constantly undergoing renovations. Since the beginning of this year, they have renovated the swimming pool, jacuzzi, and men's locker room, and now the women's locker room is being updated as well. While it's good to see continuous improvements, the ongoing construction can sometimes feel inconvenient and is a reminder that the facility is aging. My experiences with the staff have been mixed. Some employees are friendly and helpful, while others come across as less welcoming. One incident in particular left a disappointing impression. I accidentally left my phone at the Life Cafe table and realized it after I had already left the gym. When I returned, a young staff member asked to see my membership card. I explained that my membership information was on the phone I had left inside, but despite the obvious situation, he refused to let me enter without an ID. Even after explaining multiple times that I was simply trying to retrieve my phone, he continued insisting on identification. It felt like common sense and flexibility were missing in that moment. Another concern is the membership cost. I currently pay more than $180 per month, which is quite expensive. At that price point, I believe members naturally expect not only quality facilities but also consistently professional and understanding customer service. Despite these frustrations, I still appreciate the convenience of the location and the overall amenities the gym provides.

I pay over $300 a month for a membership, and one of the main reasons I chose this gym was access to the basketball courts. Unfortunately, the courts are unavailable Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM throughout the summer due to camp activities, yet members are still paying full membership rates with no discount or accommodation offered. For members who use the courts regularly, this removes a major part of what we're paying for. It feels unfair to eliminate access to a key amenity for an extended period while continuing to charge full price. I understand businesses want to run summer programs, but this situation seems focused on generating additional revenue at the expense of paying members. I raised these concerns with management and was told, "Sorry, nothing we can do." That response was disappointing and felt dismissive. For a gym at this price point, I expected better communication, better planning, or some effort to make things right for affected members. This was handled poorly.
