This past Saturday turned out to be my Chelsea's time to leave me. She was 15 years old and she declined within the course of two to three months; so, I took her to Emergency Pet Care in Trussville, because my DVM's office was closed. The three women that took exceptional care of Chelsea and me were (and still are) knowledgeable, sympathetic, supportive and compassionate. I was given all the time I needed to be with my sweet girl, and I know I made the best decision until Chelsea and I meet again at Rainbow Bridge. Lastly, the financial cost was minimal considering the fact that I was going through a very vulnerable time whereas money seemed to be no object of concern until it could've been afterwards. We had to take one of our dogs to Emergency Pet Care late Friday night. All the staff on site were very kind and quick in addressing all the concerns with our pup. Our pup ended up spending 36 hours there and was in great hands. We called and received updates regularly on how she was doing, areas of concerns and improvements she was making. Thanks to the staff, our pup is home and improving. If we have any other emergency issues arise, we will definitely be using Emergency Pet Care again! read more

We have brought our dogs here several times since they opened and I am so thankful for them. Eight days ago we brought in our 8 yr old male Weimaraner after he was found hiding in the dark in a bathroom at our home with pale and cold gums. The clinic was packed and a knowledgeable vet tech came outside to assess him in the car a few minutes after we arrived. He was taken immediately in and even though they didn't have a room available they took him to the back to let one of the vets assess him. In less than 10 minutes the vet on staff called me back to tell me the findings which were not good. Euthanasia was suggested and I agreed it was the best thing to do. I asked if I could call my husband (who was out of town) and adult children, and she said we had enough time for our kids to come be with him as long as it was soon. I had 7 adult children in the room with me and our dog who they had brought in and placed on a very soft, clean, thick blanket in the middle of the room. They let us spend 30-45 minutes with him privately. They let us decide when it was time for them to come in to put him 'to sleep'. We had the process explained and it took less than two minutes for him to peacefully leave us. We made the choice to bury him at home and they placed him in a very nice body bag and put him in the back of my car. We had been here before with our female Weimaraner who ate an entire bag of cacao powder which can be fatal. They took excellent care of her. That particular visit our dog stayed over night and they called and updated me and encouraged me to call any time I wanted more updates. There have been other visits besides these two times. We were shown so much compassion and they treated our dog we lost with dignity and care. They made a horrible situation be the best it could be. Our children were able to spend time with him and say goodbye as well as myself. I'm forever grateful for all that they have done for us. read more

This was a life or death situation for my Cat. They will push for you to pay the most money and not try to help you at all. After a traumatic event with my furbaby, I am glad this place was opened on a weekend. My baby was hit by a car, and as soon as I came in they took her to the back to be checked. The waiting is the hardest any pet owner has to do. They went ahead and told me what may be needed to be done and the estimate cost all it would be. I had to scramble to apply for credit, being that this visit was shy of 1k and then whatever the vet and surgeon may charge after. I like that the doctor was straight with me and told me how bad the fracture was and my need an actual surgeon and what it may cost. So yes, their service are expensive, but was glad she was being looked after and given pain medication during the weekend until I could consult with the vet and/or surgeon. read more

This place has done a great job of taking care of my pet and providing me with detailed status updates when I call to ask for one, even in the late morning hours (since they are open 24/7 on the weekends). I can tell they are paying lots of attention to my pet. While the services are pricey, this is to be expected and worth it for saving my pet's life when no other vet offices were open nearby on a Saturday afternoon. I will say they were quick to get my baby back. But when you are told you have to pay $600+ to get your baby taken care of or you have to surrender it is heartbreaking. Yes I was given the option to get a credit card to pay but no I was not able to do that. I drove 45 min worried to death about my baby only to have to surrender it bc I don't have that much to pay at the moment . I was also given the option to take it home and take it to a local vet on Monday but she was in distress and that was not fair to her to let her suffer all weekend. read more

This is The Hoover Alabama location. The people were very nice, The long wait and the entire setup is very different than what I expected. I brought in my puppy on a Friday evening around 6:30 pm., I signed in with staff, and sat down in the tiny lobby. However, A syaff member came immediately and took my pet to chevk vitals and insisted that I stay in the lobby with all the other people who were also sitting and waiting WITHOUT their pets with them . I waited about 15 minutes and asked the staff at front desk if I could go to be with my pet, and they replied that I couldnt because my pet was in a room in the back in a cage where all of the other pets were who were waiting in cages to be seen by the vet ! And that they would call me back when the vet was ready for me. My puppy was very sick and I know he wanted me to be with him, and I wanted to be with him as much time as possible because i didnt know if he was going to have to be put down. Anyway, After waiting a very Long time, the staff member came and whispered to me that the vet wanted to do a abdominal xray on my puppy and it would cost 120.00. Why? What did she find in her physical? I had questions for the vet ... Where was the vet ? I said No, becsuse I wanted to talk to the vet . I expected to be called in as the vet came to see my puppy. I wanted to be in the exam room with both of them instead of just waiting in the front room stareing at other people, and getting anxious without my pet ! Why did the vet want a abdominal Xray?? The staff could not give me any answrs. Instead she got on her walkie talkie and radioed to someone in the back .... After waiting more time... They called me to a exam room ( without my pet)! .. A guy without a identification badge came in and introduced his self as The Nurse..?! And that the vet was very busy with others at the moment ..?! What ? And he told me the vet wanted a xray . I asked why ? I asked if the vet even examined my puppy at all or did she just order the xray because i came in there saying his abdomen looked swollen ??! He could not answer. To make a long story shory, I wasted 3 hours of my and my pet time , and never saw the vet in person, I was very disapointed. And they only charged me half price because I did not see the vet . I was very ready to take my puppy home . And they did nothing for him at all. Im thankful to The Nurse ?! Who took the time to talk to me , although he could not answer any of my questions. I waited and took my puppy to his regular vet the next day , who did not have to order an abdominal Xray on my puppy ! My advice is , If u got plenty of time, and money , and if you dont want to be with ur pet while u wait or to actually walk into the exam room with ur pet, Go here and let them take ur pet from ur arms and stick them in cages in a big room until the vet exams them without your being present !! No thanks. I will go to the Emergency Placeon 280 from now on . Even though their price walking in is a little bit higher. Its worth it. read more

This morning, we took our beloved 10 year old cat to this clinic. We were seen quickly and Dr. Crowson delivered the bad news. Our Sugar had a blood clot that was shutting off blood supply to her lower extremities. The prognosis was poor and she quickly deteriorated before our eyes. A painful death awaited and we decided to let her go. She went peacefully in our arms. Dr. Crowson and her assistant were so compassionate and kind. I cannot imagine going through this experience without these knowledgeable, caring people. read more

We were pleased with the service we received at Emergency Pet Care. After our precious 10-week old Scottish Terrier puppy slipped through the slats on our deck and fell to the ground, we scrambled to find a pet clinic that was open on New Year's Day. We were able to get her there pretty quickly and called on the way to let them know we were coming. They took her back immediately and said she was in critical condition. We ultimately lost our sweet girl, but the staff did everything they could to save her and make her more comfortable in her final hours. It was quite pricey at over $1,000 for her head injury, but that is to be expected for an emergency pet care facility open only on nights, weekends and holidays. read more

I am so thankful to have this top notch emergency facility so close to me. When my little Sadie broke her leg they were just wonderful. They took her in and bandaged her up and kept her comfortable. Then they put me in contact with an excellent ortho doctor that could do surgery and save her leg.
