I hate to kick a restaurant when it's down but this place is really miserable. Amongst the myriad…read moreof problems is the air conditioning, they have a portable air conditioner which kicks in and out and they stick the 20cm hoses out of a window or door o get rid of the condensation. The restaurant seems to be run by an old lady and a young girl, I don't know who's out in the kitchen because I never saw anybody but there must be someone out there. They're Indian but cook 'South African food', which is all Indian curries which I find hard to believe as I have a lot of relatives in South Africa. They have a very small menu and try very hard but I won't be going back. The small menu became even smaller when four of us turned up to try the restaurant because someone obviously hadn't bought the raw ingredients that day. They serve 'bunny chow' which is a famous dish in South Africa and was popular the night I went - there were six other diners besides my group and I would say half of us had the bunny chow.. They have a small choice of drinks and there's absolutely no ambience whatsoever and I feel sorry for them. There is a great Indian restaurant around the corner if you want Indian food so the opportunity to produce something unique is there, its just not being taken advantage of.

Never had South African food before so we blindly picked a few things at random. The lady who took our order was very friendly, the wait was long (but we got distracted enough by all the imported random products for sale) and our exit out of the place was traumatic as the grease trap truck was being filled up right outside the door sending a most potent au-de-pooh throughout all the greater hills district!!! But things turned in a completely different and pleasant direction once we got home! Can I say this is THE most delicious food I've had in a while? Most certainly! The prawn chutney was mouthwatering, our house smelled divine once we opened the bobotie and the biryani was most unusual (has cinnamon!?!) but delicious. Best rotis I've tasted ever and we also had mealie pap for the first time... Seriously good food but I'm sure lots of people would be put off by the joint's presentation which is a shame. Hence the 3 stars. Food would be a 4.8 at least :)

Flame grilled chicken places have become more popular lately and this is definitely one of the…read morebest. I've been going to El Jannah at Granville for years and have also been to Inflames at Castle Hill and I have to say that Sultans Grill is better than them both! The food is essentially the same. The same great tasting flame grilled chook, the same pickles, awesome garlic sauce, etc. But thats where the similarities end. Unlike El Jannah you can actually get a parking spot here. Its directly across the road from the Bull n Bush hotel and there is heaps of parking both on the street out the front and behind the restaurant. Unlike El Jannah you don't have to queue forever and you can also actually get a seat as well. I don't know how long that will all last but for now its awesome. They do a chicken wrap with chips and a can of drink for a little over ten bucks and you can get it eat in or take away. There's a large indoor dining area with a big screen tv on the wall and also quite a few tables and chairs out on the street as well. They have a huge range of other things on the menu but I can't really comment about them as I'm just a massive fan of their chicken wraps and chips with heaps of extra garlic sauce. If you like El Jannah or Inflames then try Sultans Grill. You can probably park, order, eat and be out of there in the same time it'd take you to find parking at one of the other charcoal chicken shops!

The cafe is perched on the corner of the carpark. From the road there is a path that will lead you to the door but from the shopping centre you need to negotiate another cafe and a kid's playground to get to the door. After watching an early game of kid's soccer we were after more than coffee and it wasn't very obvious that they did other stuff until we grabbed the small font menu. On went the glasses and we spotted Spanish eggs and omelettes. One of each and a cappuccino was our order. The also have loyalty cards for coffee so I grabbed one just in case the coffees were good...and they were. The food was good. The Spanish omelette came out in a dish that was layered in beans & sauce, then slices of chorizo topped with mozzarella and eggs. You will need bread to mop up the plate and there are two slices. I needed 3 so I pinched one from my dining buddy. The prices were on par with the rest of the centre for this sort of meal,

Upon arrival it has so far taken about ten minutes to be given a menu.. and another ten minutes for the waiter to come back and take our order. The place is quite busy with the inside seating area full. The waitress seems run off her feet and her short and impolite service definitely leaves a sour taste in the mouth. Our drinks came out approximately 25mins later (chocolate milkshake & red Fanta type soda with mint) and about 5-10mins after that we were brought our food.. but we had to get up and go inside and ask the waitress to bring out cutlery as she had forgot to do so when she brought the food to the table. We ordered the creamy corn fritters.. they were cold and tasted as if they had been pre-made & slightly reheated in a microwave.. :( they did have quite a good amount of smoked salmon which was good.. but you couldn't taste any wasabi.. pretty bland tasting.. The French toast was also cold and was pretty much just a piece of brioche bread coated in some sugar.. definitely didn't eat more than a quarter of it.. The only good thing about this place was their wrap.. a simple bacon and salad wrap - was the only thing that wasn't left on the plate. Overall- I definitely would NOT recommend this cafe! Unfriendly staff - poor customer service - extremely long wait time for drinks and food - and the price was ridiculous (approx $85!) Will not be returning.

We came here for lunch and had a steak sandwich and 5 spice squid salad. Both were just under $20 but were very nice. The coffee is also good and there are some temptations in the refrigerated display but I resisted. There were plenty of people in for coffee and lunch but we didn't have to wait too long for the order to be taken and then the food to arrive. Service was friendly too. You might have to park in a side street but not too far away from the front door.
