I did this for no favors and on my own accord. This review is about 2 weeks overdue but I really have to make it known HOW AMAZING IT IS TO WORK WITH STEPHEN ANS HOLDING ROOFING!!!! I don't know how exactly my mother found him but Stephen and his company has truly surpassed every milestone and expectation and went above and beyond. His patience to listening what my mother requests has been extra ordinary. My mother and I are of Asian descent and although my English is as American as it can get...; my mother can be hard to understand many times with her English. According to my mother and the many interactions I've had with Stephen, he has been courteous, extremely patience and followed through with every word of the contract. He follows up with text messages, phone calls, and voice messages between my mother, two sisters and I. I can understand how frustrating that can be to reconfirm, or go over the details because my mother just wanted to make sure she understood the terms for her new roof replacement. Stephen of the time reexplained, came to the house, called or text to explain the details. For those that reside within an HOA establishment and are concerned with the stringent requirements or finding a company that will make sure no time and money is wasted, EVERYONE, should reach out to Holding Roofing. He knew the details of what our HOAs requirements were and this helped us stay on track and time. Even when we found out paperwork that needed to be filled , Stephen gladly paused the work until WE were satisfied before starting the construction demolition and roofing of my parent's roof. The day of roofing came and his team treated our property and our neighbors as if they lived there. Even before beginning work, Stephen reached out to make sure if we wanted our satellites re installed. Staging, demolition of the roof was clean throughout and the entire 2000 ? sq foot home and was completed in 1-2 days ( maybe one day). Came by to make sure and went over warranty information with my mother :) and then myself(over the phone). We were so impressed with his professionalism, work, communication that we preceded to have his company work on my home, as well as my sister's in the near future( hopefully by August). If every company could operate like Stephen's Holding roofing company, workmanship, then we would have a perfect world of trustworthy people. The billing department personnel, Aubrey, gets 10/10 stars as well. She is quick to return calls, arrange payments and is genuinely a kind and nice person to work with. I could go on and on about this company. I hope reading this review will help future customers put their fears and concerns aside and choose Stephen and his company. In Sept. 2025 I reviewed this company because it damaged the vaulted ceiling inside my house when it replaced the roof. Holden Roofing refused to paint the ceiling. In Feb. 2026 I noticed a water stain on the ceiling. The roofers who came to look at the problem said the plastic ridgeline that was installed was the reason the nails came through and damaged the vaulted ceiling. The ridgeline was not meant for vaulted ceilings. Holden Roofing and Stan, their representative, were negligent for using something that was not meant to be used on a vaulted ceiling. To this day, Holden Roofing refuses to take responsibility for the damage to the ceiling. Look at the pictures to see the blobs of putty that was used to cover the nails. The nails have been pulled out but the mess remains. You can also see the water damage. The roofers told me Holden will not paint the ceiling. read more

I hired Holden to replace my roof. Since it was insurance based, they refused to give me the true costs. I know my roof did not cost $26,000 to replace. My roof is already showing signs of wear from the install at 2019. I was told I would have higher quality shingles. I referred them to my neighbors and they sold those 2 roofs to them. The one neighbor's shingles are also looking worn down. When I called for needs, they are slow to respond and seem offended. I hired them in April of 2022 to add a cricket because I had trees growing from trapped leaves and seeds behind the chimney. This year, I still see stuck leaves and seeds behind the chimney. Had to have someone climb on the roof to take pictures. Holden claim its done correctly. No, nothing should be stuck behind the chimney when a cricket is designed properly. I Googled the purpose of a cricket and pictures, what Holden put on for over $1000 is not as the professionals know to do. Also, they never call back. They have the poorest customer service. May be in business for decades, yet they have become poor at running a fair, honest businesses. read more

Mike Talty, the guy with Holden Roofing that handled my roof replacement was awesome. He not only handled me well but he took charge and handled my insurance company's inspectors, engineers and even my desk adjuster well. I felt that he went above and beyond to get my claim approved which was not immediate because that is what insurance companies do. Deny, deny, deny. I let Mike communicate and work with my insurance company directly, and he did not disappoint. I can't speak for the other salespersons at Holden but Mike took a lot of the work off my plate because he knew exactly how to handle the insurance company. My claim drug out for almost 9 months but he did not give up! His constant follow up with my insurance company and me was outstanding! I feel that had it not been for his persistence, I probably would have still been moping around with a declined letter. In regards to the actual roof replacement, his workers and sub-contractors that worked on my home were very professional. They cleaned up after themselves, didn't play loud music and just did a great job overall. The roofing products I got were top of the line compared to what my neighbor across the street got. I verified it with a friend of mine in another city that is in the business. There are so many reasons why you should have Mike handle your roof replacement that I could go on and on.... WORST Customer Service. Have requested documents from Kristine on 3 separate occasions. The third time I called and spoke with Hilary (Receptionist?) because Kristine did not answer. Hillary proceeded to LAUGH on the phone and sarcastically said she would talk to her and immediately put me on eternal hold. After coming back on the line, she said that Kristine would send me the documents by the end of the day. It is was 4:20 PM and I had already hear this on multiple occasions. The front desk is the face and voice of your company. What a sad representation of Holden Roofing. Side Note: I work as an auditor for Property Management Company with 26 apartment complexes in Houston area. Really honest business, had Stan Stark come and look at my roof with leak from rain. He took his time to check and caulked areas he think could be the problem and answers with very professional opinion about the condition of my roof. Had him come back again since the roof still have leak and he went into the attic to see the leak and sealed the area and went back up the roof to seal under every shingle near the leak. I asked him if my roof needed changing and he said it's still in good condition, those shingle may just be a little wind damage lifting it up a little so rain got in. Definitely have to recommend this roofing business to anyone that needs it. They are very honest and do very careful work. read more

Overall, very happy with the work that Holden Roofing did on my house. I was especially happy with the salesman Wesley, he really went out of his way to address any issues that I had. Whenever I sent him a text message he was very good about returning my texts in a timely fashion. The process of installing a new roof can be pretty stressful at times, but thanks to Wesley the process was very smooth. I am also very happy with Supervisor Juan Garcia and his team. I think that his workers did a great job. There were some minors issues, but Juan came back to fix things up til I was happy. Also, very happy with the work that Window World did fixing the beading around my windows. And Jose Lujan, the gutter guy, did truly excellent work. After 19 years, it was time for a new roof. Holden Roofing and, specifically, Stephen Stark, was recommended to us by our neighbors who had just had their roof replaced. Stephen came right over and, after having a thorough look at the roof, explained that he noticed evidence of hail damage, showing us several pictures he had taken. Stephen is very professional and friendly and thoroughly familiar with roofing construction, building codes, and insurance processes. He was very clear about our options and answered all our questions about coverage. We immediately gave our insurance company a call to see about getting an adjuster to come by. Stephen did all the talking. Stephen came over and met the adjustor for the inspection; however, because of the steepness and condition of the roof, the adjuster was not comfortable climbing to the top. Our insurance company arranged for an inspection service to do a second inspection. Stephen came over to meet the inspector, but, again, the guy said the roof was too dangerous to climb. So, another inspection was scheduled. Stephen came over for a third time, and this time we got a guy who could inspect the whole roof, and the hail damage was confirmed. After getting the go ahead from our insurance company, Stephen met with us to select shingles and discuss repair details. Again, he was very helpful in helping to make final decisions about the job. Amazingly, our roof was replaced in one, very long day. Some final cleanup was completed the next morning. Gutters were replaced a couple of days later after some trim rot was repaired on the garage. Great service if you love waiting to hear back from them and you're ok with shoddy work. We were initially really please with contact-before they have your business they call you back quickly and are incredibly helpful. Had our roof delayed several times and finally the work was completed (months later)and we were assured it would take a few days to settle and look better. Still waiting a year later. Took 10 months to hear back from them about doing further work, at which point we had already decided we'd just get someone reliable to finish it. It has been hell trying to get a manager to contact us back in regards to the (now) rude salesman and the work that was done. It's been a nightmare dealing with these people. Just go with someone else-ANYONE ELSE-if you have work that needs to be done. read more

A few months ago we had Holden Roofing come out to assess a leak in our roof after a bad hailstorm in April. They were incredibly helpful, and when they came to assess the damage decided that we had enough problems that our insurance company would probably agree to replace the roof entirely. When the adjuster came out, they went up on the roof with him, and within the hour, we were getting a new roof. Holden arranged it so that literally the next day he had his crew here and they managed to completely demo the old roof and replace it within a single day. It was unbelievable! During the demo they even found places of the plywood that had rotted over the years that had just been covered over by the previous roof. The crew cut out and replaced all of the rotted areas for us. They were really professional and didn't leave a single piece of trash on my yard when they were done. Since the new roof was installed, we have had more rain in Houston, and we haven't had a single problem. Without this roof, we would have had some serious flooding. I honestly cannot recommend Holden enough. I've had my fair share of dealing with contractors in the past. and they are by far the most easy to work with and helpful. They were always available during the process to answer questions and they kept their word and were on time. He made the whole thing so easy. If you have any roof damage, or need any roofing done at all. Please call this company. They will give you a beautiful roof in no time, and you won't have to go through any of the usual contractor unpleasantness. They are awesome! read more

My experience with Holden Roofing was exceptional. I called and had an appointment within two days. Charles Stetzel examines my roof and then came back the next day to meet with my insurance adjuster and walked me through the process of obtaining approval from my HOA. After insurance settlement and HOA approval, they scheduled the roof within two weeks. The workers were careful not to damage my plants. They were very hard working, did an excellent job, and cleaned up everything. Charles Stetzel and Holden Roofing were so easy to work with. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

Here are some of the issues i encountered that i would like to share: 1) the delivered material was not enough. there were a good hour or two that the workers could not do anything but wait for the materials to be delivered. 2) They cut off my aircon line. while the contract says that pipes or tubes needs to be atleast 3 inches from the roof, they used a circular saw to cut a portion of my roof to replace my air exhaust. needless to say, i had to pay $1098 for refilling my freon. Holden only covered $500 noting that is not their fault and they are kind enough to help me out on this. However, thinking about it, it was their contractor who cut my aircon line and they were the ones who did not do a thorough inspection of my roof to tell me that i have a pipe in close proximity to the roof. I wish i could have fought for my additional $598 back. on the positive side, Holden added additional ridge vent in places where it didn't have before. Thanks for the extra mile. They even have a good english speaking foreman that is very accommodating and answers your questions on the site. read more

Area Manager Jarrod came to my house yesterday. It started off with me telling him of my experience with Holden (which was not good) and how it's taken them over a month to respond so that I can do a final walk through. The walk through started with me showing hardie plank that was cracked by Holden and then poorly patched by Holden. Jarrod's response is "I don't think we caused that" and "I would need to see photographic evidence that we caused that". I was stunned, as the caulking was slathered all over the place like a butter knife was used. I then asked Jarrod how big of a hole does plywood on the house need to have to be replaced. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by his response at this point, but he said "well, I guess I would need to see the hole." To which I said, well it sounds like it doesn't matter how big the hole is Jarrod's answer when he see's the hole will be that hole is too small. Sure enough when i show them the hole (which is 4" in diameter), he says that hole is not a problem the underlayment will handle it. I was astounded, no ownership or pride in his work, no need to correct or address the issue. I slapped my own forehead and said "you guys are F@#$ING unbelievable." Jarrod then pulled out his phone and asked me if he should start filming because I was being disrespectful. I informed him that he is welcome to if he would like. In addition, these guys will get access to your insurance carrier as a "representative". This means they can modify your return at any point. And they get downright malicious, these guys actually changed my supplemental contract with my insurance carrier and I didn't even know so that Holden could get more money!!! These guys put up a front that they are only looking out for their customers, THIS IS A LIE!!! They want to strangle hold the insurance company to pay more than they should.
