Becoming an IHG rewards member was the best idea! Stayed one night here and received bonus points which helps with our next stays. The room was very clean and up to date, a little small for the king but the bathroom was very large. AND the hot water didn't run out after an hour shower. The fitness center was a perk of this stay since it is open 24 hours. Also, the restaurant in the lobby had a nice selection of menu items with very friendly staff! read more

This is definitely a great hotel. I have to say the restaurant inside has some of the best burgers I've ever had in my life. I got the "flying pig" and it was absolutely amazing. The workers in the restaurant are so friendly and caring for the customers. I do need to say this, some of the workers for the house keeping were low key rude. On of the cleaning lady's ran into her in the hall and she didn't even smile at us when we said hi. The room was pretty clean but it did have some crusted lotion or something dripping of the door. The pool was closed the whole weekend and it just opened back up on Tuesday. The lounge is very classy and it has a nice tv. The restaurant decor was also very welcoming. Again about the cleaning ladies, my family and I were wondering why there was a sticky, nasty substance on the floor of the elevator, it also smelled, a while later, we saw a lady drag a full big bag of trash out of the elevator and it smelled. When we got to the elevator we realized that substance was from that trash. I do recommend this hotel because it was a good welcoming experience. The down sides were how the cleaning ladies did there job, and my room wasn't the cleanest (I'll pin pictures) The main reason why I'm leaving 3 stars is because the restaurant was amazing! I can't say much about the hotel, as I live not too far from here and typically sleep in my own bed, but I do frequent their restaurant on the lower level. All the food that they serve is extremely well prepared and is large in portion size. The burgers are some of the better one's you'll find in a hotel restaurant, and worthy of making this a regular lunch spot. I'd be more than willing to stay here if it weren't a stones throw from my abode, but I'll definitely be back for some lunch! read more

Older full service hotel. Dated lobby furnishings. Large floor-to-ceiling window makes the room very cold. No refrigerator, coffemaker, or microwave in the room. One power bar next to the bed and an outlet under the desk, neither very accessible to recharge phones. First floor restaurant has high prices! The first thing you need to know about the Holiday Inn Cincinnati-Riverfront is that it isn't on the Cincinnati Riverfront. The more correct name would be Holiday Inn Covington-Levee Front. Other then this one draw back it is a nice hotel in a great location. It's easy to get anywhere in downtown Cincinnati or the Kentucky riverfront area from here. If you are going to the Bengals this would be the best place to stay. Nice open parking lot, no dark garage, great and only outdoor pool you will find along the river and close to highways 75 and 71. The rooms look to have been updated recently with flat screens. The bar area has a nice slection of drinks and the food menu is great for what you would expect for a Holiday Inn. The staff at the Holiday Inn Cincinnati Riverfront is very helpful. They seemed very open to helping with any issues. A major plus is they seem to have several very attractive staff members. A good experience is always made better with a pretty face behind the counter :) If visiting Northern Kentucky or Downtown Cincinnati I would check this place out. read more

A nice hotel in Covington that is extremely convenient to I-71. The restaurant was nice and they stayed open late because they had the traffic. But only for drinks and since I had a hungry 13 year old we walked outside and there were also several restaurants across the street to walk to so we were happy. Breakfast is not complimentary there like the other Holiday Inns I've stayed in. It was clean and friendly. read more

My first was better then the second. I had my mother. Husband . Myself and daughter. It was lunch we were the first to arrive. After some the a woman asked if we were here to eat. We plased our order. She brought my moms milk shake out. My mom asked for a straw. While she was waiting on the straw she started to try to drink it. Short story she never did get her straw. We were only given silver wear cause we asked the manager as he passed by. This second time believe it or not was worse. A different waitress ignored us totally we were there 20 minutes waiting for them to open..a couple strolls up gets water a menu silverware. And ordered ther food. I guess after 10 or so minutes had passes she comes over an ask are you here for burger week. Then making no apology she said she thought we were just hanging out. I asked can we get water she asked me "all of you".We get out food from some man..I asked for a napkin and some silverware I point out my husband didn't get his fries. My husband had half his burger finally one comes to the table I again mentioned the fries she said you still didnt get them? Seriously do you see them on my plate. Then the place filled up with customers. I got up asked the man for two Togo boxs. When he handed them to me there was no eye contact no your welcome after I managed to say thank you. Did it stay here so I can't mention anything about the rooms, finishes, etc however I did not stay here because they denied service animals. Their website states service animals only. So before booking, we call to let them know and they refuse to allow our service animals even with proper paperwork. Which this is against the fair housing act which is against the law... read more

The hotel it's okay but nothing special. The room was big and comfortable. But I personally think it's too expensive ($200 for a night in a double) for a normal service, nothing special, and the breakfast it's not included. If I'll go back to Cincinnati, first I will look for son better, and if I'll not find anything I'll come back there. read more

This holiday inn was ok overall. The front desk clerk was a beautiful young lady that was on top of everything. The rooms were ok. But the cover wasn't made of the quality I was looking for since the room cost $125 for a night. The TV was a flat screen maybe a 37" but the downfall is they didn't have alot of channels. They gave us a room that wasn't cleaned. A pile of towels were on the floor, beer cans, blood on the toilet. Went back to the desk. Comped ONE free breakfast buffet... whatever... Second room is right at an outside light shining in the room. The bathroom door is sliding glass. It's LOUD and see through. No privacy. TV remote works sporadically. Heater is LOUD and with temps at 34 outside we set it at 68, why is it blowing COLD air? The beds are cozy, the only plus. The next morning we think we'll have coffee in the room, there's only one cup. The coffee maker gives me coffee that looks like tea and is ICE cold! Over $150 a night for two nights. My one night stay was during their remodeling. I must say the room was very nice and new. I especially liked the shower. TV was new and of high quality. Smoke detector looked yellow and old. The Guest Service Supervisor, Lauren Stein was very helpful in helping us fine a nice dinner spot in Covington, Blinkers.....we even had the only window seat! The staff was nice but way under staffed. House keeping was terrible. Our room had fresh sheets but everything else was filthy. There was 3 in our room and kept leaving towels for 2. One day we were gone from 8am to 3:45 and our room was not touched. Breakfast was good but plates and silverware were dirty. They over booked too many busses and couldn't accommodate. We arrived at 5 on Sunday and our rooms were not ready. Cob webs hanging all over the place in our room. I don't blame house keeping those people were way under staffed. This hotel is sucks is old I got on the elevator and I got stuck. When you push the bottom both elevators open, you get to any flor 4,3,2,1 both elevators open and close at the same time fix it cheap. Front desk are rude I felt like they didn't want it me to ask them anything that was rude. I did not stay overnight here but attended a week-long workshop. The parking was free, though the lot was a bit small. One day they were doing work on the lot, so it was especially challenging to find a spot that day. The conference rooms were near the lobby, and the restrooms were convenient to our room as well. There were over thirty women in their workshop, and the facilitator worked with the hotel staff to enable us to use both the women's and men's bathroom during our breaks. That was nice! The temperature control in our room was inconsistent, however. We'd be freezing one day, and then we were warm the next. But at least the staff kept trying to adjust it and accommodate us. Another nice touch was the lunch we were able to order ahead of time. We put in our order, and it was ready in their restaurant during our lunch break. The waitress was great! Friendly and worked hard to get us all fed before our time was up :o) I was disappointed that my grilled chicken was supposed to come with rice, and when I got my order it had chips instead. Apparently they either were out of rice or were not serving it at lunch time. Boo :o) Overall, and "A-OK" experience. read more

Ughh... I was content enough with this place when I was here. Sure the toilet ran and the in-wall air conditioner unit sounded like a lawn mower was going in the room. I wasn't expecting much to begin with so I could even overlook the 7:00 a.m. pounding on the door from the maintenance guy who needed to flip a mattress but had the wrong room number. But two days after checking out, I see a $30.00 charge to my credit card. I called here and they explained it was their practice to put a $30.00 charge on for incidentals and then refund it later. Well I didn't know about this practice and I sure didn't authorize it. Now I get to monitor my credit card and make sure the charge is reversed. Not cool dude, not cool. Lowered my review after getting multiple mosquito bites while eating dinner in the restaurant. Room had a musty smell. Need to clean the spiderwebs out of the windows in the room. The lobby looks nice upon entry but it is an older hotel. Not the best area for walking to a restaurant unless you want fast food or a liquor store. Newer options close by. The IHG website gives it a 4.1/5. More like a 2-3 at best. On the upside, the staff was friendly. read more

I have stayed here dozens of times. It has served the wife and I well as our base of exploration of the greater Cincinatti/ Northern Kentucky area. Don't expect too many frills (it is a Holiday Inn in Kentucky). That said, the staff is generally helpful. Michele is great behind the bar. The location is very convenient to the Mainstrasse area of Covington, Newport, and Downtown Cincy. All of which are very fun. I highly recommend Senate Pub and O'Malley's in the Alley. Other than that, since the change in management (mid 2010?), expect clean sheets, semi-indifferent management, lame air conditioners (they can be rigged), a fun bar, a funner after hours crowd in the lobby (4am hopscotch anyone?) and an overall positive experience based on several years of coming here excepting the Jimmy Buffet fans who peed the pool. Very hospitable staff the bartender opened early to accommodate the event. The Front door was very hospitable,warm and welcomimg. Banquet room was spotless and temperature perfect . Food was not so good. The pork tenderloin was undercooked and had a very unpleasant taste . Way under cooked. I understand the pork does not need to be well done but unless a very good rare not good at all; inedible. The starch was a poor try at potatoes au gratin or scalloped potatoes edible but a broken Bechamel Sauce ; vegetable was out of seasoned and over cooked . The hospitality of this venue is outstanding but the food needs work alot. Try not to be so fancy stick to the basics; cook what you love you may see remaining results. I think Mangemt should refund my fellow Tripple Crown Doll club members moneys for our last dinner no one are the meat. read more

I was traveling alone far from home and came across hardship. I went to this hotel unexpectedly for a safe place to land for the night and found more than gracious hospitality. The staff was so relational and made sure I was okay- far beyond their typical job description. They were true heroes to my evening making sure I was safe, well, and taken care of. I stayed in the hotel and it was ok, I was there a couple of days and left on the 22nd of this month and on the 28th they charged me 300 USD directly to my card for no reason at all!!! they said is for room safety, but that doesnt make any sense because I have already left the hotel!!! now I have to wait 3 to 5 days to have that money back, that is just awful, they didn't even say sorry, what a waste. read more

I've never written a review before, but I feel like I must do so for the incredible service I received. My first time in the area so I had no clue what to do or where to stay because I came in around 8 am and check in time was at 3pm. Granted my fiancee and I were extremely exhausted being up for over 24 hours we needed a good nap badly, because we had plans to do later that day that required alot of energy. I spoke to Roy at the front desk and he was extremely helpful to me. My face looked absolutely tired and hearing him trying to make a room available and clean was music to my ears.(he was also super nice). We were able to check in at 11am, bless him. After we checked out and I was miles away from the hotel, I realized that I had forgot my watch that had sentimental value to me at the room. Called in and sure enough it was Roy! Went to the room and found the watch! Room was clean and standard as what you can expect from a hotel. Roy going above and beyond is what made my stay better than the rest! Thank you! read more

Stayed here for 2 nites for a a convention I was attending. The convention was planned months in advance and the hotel was clearly aware that a couple of hundred people would be attending. The hotel prepared a special menu selection specifically for the convention and had welcome signs all over the hotel. Knowing the convention would bring a crowd to the bar area all day long with people ordering drinks and food they had 1 woman bartending, taking table orders and running food. The bartender/waitress/food runner was completely overwhelmed as I cant fault her for that. Breakfast in the morning is terrible and is not included with the rooms. Not that any hotel breakfasts are off the chart amazing but this place has the worst hotel breakfast Ive ever had. Just like the bar, 1 waitress taking drink orders (juice/coffee etc.) for breakfast, as the breakfast is a buffet. The problem definitely lies in the hands of the hotel management and they definitely need to make some changes. As for the rooms, they never changed the pillow cases from the first nite to the next and I had to call and get the room cleaned as it still wasn't done at 3pm. The maids cleaning the room did a mediocre job at best. Since the hotel is located in a depressed area its my belief its a challenge for management to find quality help. Whatever the case may be the corporation of Holiday Inn should rethink allowing this hotel to carry their name... read more

As frequent travelers due to our Sons soccer season, we have experienced many Hotels and different experiences. We left with mixed feelings about this property. Staff seems nice and treats you well. However it screams of stingy in all it does. My wife did a great job of making the beds and I found the trash bins so that wasn't a problem. The breakfast is good and served from 6:30 to 11:00 but you better get there before 9:30 or you will have to beg for silverware, orange juice or fruit. They will embarrass any customer by asking for tickets when they are at the buffet. (Luckily we did not have this problem as we entered waving our tickets that were taken from us on our last day even before we arrived to the breakfast room.) If you are thinking of getting some work done, think again, the Wi-Fi is spotty and reminded us of those dial-up days. Towels are in short supply and were asked to keep ous to dry and re-use. All in all not a bad property, seems to be that whoever is managing has a very cheap idea of customer service. Rooms are ok, beds were comfortable, however the water was, yes you guessed it, stingy. Hopefully in the future the staff understands that the traveler is not a beggar. Will not return to this property. read more

Arrived at 330pm for check in, wasn't able to get in the room till 500pm (I wasn't the only one the lobby was full of people waiting to check in). Called well in advance (4 days) to request my 2 rooms side by side and was told that it wouldn't be a problem, they ended up being on different floors. Pull out sofa had stains on mattress, sheets were very worn. Staff wasn't very friendly and I would not stay again. Definitely not worth the price. read more

We have stayed at this property 3 differant times and have had no problems . About 2 yrs ago they did a make over of most rooms . It is located just off I-75 and is only a 5 minute walk from the mainstrausse shopping district . There are a few restaurants that surrond this hotel . The staff does go out of their way to help and appear to have great attituded . The south Bank shuttle service stops at the entrance to their parking lot . The pool appeared clean and we saw several others swimming in it . we will be sure to use this hotel again . read more

Overall, we were really happy with our week-long stay here. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the beds were surprisingly comfortable! I also loved that they have different pillow options, and the pillowcases are marked firm or soft so you can choose which one fits you best. The bathroom was really clean too, including the tiled shower, and the curved curtain rod prevented you from having nasty hotel shower curtain stuck to you while you shower. Another HUGE plus for me was the fact that they have hand soap that wasn't so horribly perfumed that the entire room smelled like it- it was a nice, mild scent. I was glad that we got a room on the back of the hotel facing the river (rather than facing the pool), except that a few mornings I was woken early by the repeated beep-beep-beep of trucks backing up. It seems that a trucking company uses their back lot to park their trucks. Most of the front desk staff was really friendly and knowledgeable. Easy commute + cheaper rates and lower hotel tax than downtown Cincinnati made this a great place to stay. Tons of fast food and convenience stores within a few blocks, and a nice playground for the kids a few blocks away. read more

Pleasant hotel. Very convenient for going to a Reds or Bengals game as a shuttle bus leaves from just in front of the hotel. A little disappointed with maintenance and housekeeping. There was no soap in the room when we checked in, which we didn't notice until one of us was in the shower. In the morning 1 of the elevators was out of service and the other was skipping our floor because it was full so we had to walk down with our bags. Staff was apologetic Beds were very comfortable and the HVAC was quiet. I would stay here again. read more

I stayed here with my charter bus group, and breakfast staff were ALWAYS late getting the food out. It was to the point where we were all waiting on them to bring out the breakfast. Then once we tried to get in line we were bombarded with the requests of breakfast coupons (similar to a nightclub bouncer). Yet they were the ones that were ALWAYS late, and would even forget to bring out all of the various coffees or juices. It seems as if the breakfast staff was told 10min prior that the hotel was going to decide to serve breakfast. I believe either the breakfast staff needs to come in earlier, or the Holiday Inn needs to start breakfast later. Because there is ZERO punctuality. The food is decent and pretty basic so I do not understand why the staff is incapable of having everything finished by the start of breakfast. Also during the dinner times they only have 1 bartender who serves as the waitress too. So we would have to wait almost 20-30min for food or a drink, even when there are only 5 people in the entire restaurant. There was never any help for the bartender to tend to patrons. It seems as if Holiday Inn is being cheap not paying another staff member to serve as a waitress. This truly unacceptable because I frequent Holiday Inn and other IHG hotels. I feel management needs to be held accountable for the restaurant, the lack of punctuality, and efficiency. read more
