Girl's night out Wine Tasting at Revel was just what was needed! Learning about their la els and the craftsmanship that goes into their wines was fantastic! We started with a prosecco type bubbly, tased their Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Red Blend. All went very nicely with the charcuterie that was laid out. The pours were generous and we also enjoyed 20% off bottles if we chose to buy. The staff was super friendly and the live DJ on a Wednesday evening was a whole vibe. We went on a wine and dessert tour. It ended here with 5 pours. We had 2 white, 2 red and 1 rose. They weren't bad but not great. Fun place to get a flight. Had to open as a brewery and then made wine. Wineries required a ton of barrels to operate. Breweries required small amount of beer. Still has 2 small beer machines. It's interesting that they have cans that hold .5 bottle made for TQL stadium. Got a tour off the small operation by the tour company. Not impressed by the workers. Our tour guide did the tastings. A bar and a few tables inside. I am updating my review after hearing back from the owner within an hour. Turns out he usually does the tastings and tours but had a conflict so let the tour guide do it. He has realized it is not providing the image they want to represent. Not fair to criticize him for that. He also invited me back for another tour and tasting with him. read more

We actually attended a small concert here and had a really lovely time. The space where the event was held was upstairs and was perfect for an event of Small size. It of course would be a poor fit for something substantially larger, but that's OK. I really lovely room in a cool area of town. We enjoyed our visit very much. read more

There are a lot of great bars in the area but Revel makes sure to set themselves apart. Absolutely loved the conversation cards and the live music. Weird flex, but I was impressed but the cleanliness of the bathroom on a Friday night. One star deducted bc we got two wine flights but they weren't marked and I really wish they were. What a cool place! Came for happy hour on a Friday. Drinks for $5 and worth every penny. Small card games and flavored oyster crackers served on table after you order drinks. I had the Red Top Margarita to begin with. SO good, but wasn't a drink I could consume all night. Was a bit sugary, but perfect if you're looking for a one (or two) and done. My best friend selected this place for her birthday, so there was four of us in total. I'm not a huge wine fan, but I appreciated that their Wine Cocktails put an interesting twist on just a standard glass of wine. I had the Red Top Margarita, and my husband and BFF had the Fizz. They both enjoyed this; it was simple but different and tasty. My drink looked pretty neat and tasted fine. We're all vegetarians, so we ordered the Fake Meat Plate. We were all rather disappointed in this. It seemed a little small for $16.00, and there was an unbalanced amount of bread vs cheese vs meat, especially how much blue cheese there was compared to everything else. Also, a surprisingly small amount of meat considering it was branded as a meat tray - it was literally like half a Field Roast sausage. I loved this gem located in the OTR. The atmosphere is cozy. I thought I was around my kitchen table drinking wine and talking to friends. I really appreciate Revel and I hope they stick around for a good, long time. I have never had a negative experience with any of the staff, conversely, they're all super friendly. I love that Revel hosts community events and parties as well as renting their space upstairs - you can join in on a public event like the Pineapple Day Party series without feeling weird for not rsvp'ing. It's also cool they host comedy nights on Tuesdays. We're here for the wine though, aren't we? I'm usually getting their red margarita, which is a margarita with red wine on top, or the italian stallion, which is another wine cocktail of theirs. Their wine list isn't something to avoid, I just like my go-to's. They also do wine tasting, which I like. The environment is nice too, with big windows that they can open up and two tables on the patio. Restrooms are gender-neutral, which is always a good choice in my book. read more

HAPPY HOUR DRINKS: For an "urban" winery, this place really has a lot of great liquor choices featuring $5 happy hour cocktails. The happy hour cocktails aren't some bottom shelf cocktails that I am accustomed to in D.C. No, these cocktails make a statement. I especially liked their take on the Long Island classic. FOOD: Who knows? Do they even have food? I think you can get bread and oil or olives for $5 dollars during happy hour. You better eat before... or after, depending on your mood. All to say, this may just be my kick it spot. This place gets a little lost as it's right between Gomez and Rhinehaus, but pay attention and walk in because it's worth it. Newly remodeled and perfect for a small event or party, they offer wine and wine cocktails and a fun environment. I went for an event (Vino and Vinyl) and had a blast trying the Red Top Margarita and some of the house wines. My friend enjoyed the Fizzy Mojito. We both found the house wine to be a really light red, so if you're looking for something heavy go for a different pick. Chris the bartender is AWESOME!! Revel is almost like a well kept secret in Cincinnati and is definitely underrated as a wine bar in the city. They have 4 wines they make themselves - a Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Malbec for Reds, and one White, a Black Sheep Blanc [Sauvignon Blanc, Vidal]. You can get a flight of 3 ounces of all 4 for only $15! They come in cute stemless wineglasses, however they do not come on a flight serving tray like other breweries/wineries serve. I thought all of their house wines were full of flavor and something I would definitely come back to have. I've also ordered one of their other wines they serve (not house) and it is interesting that they serve it in a small decanter with a glass for your to pour yourself - makes the experience a little different than other wine bars. This glass was $8 for a 6 ounce pour. The atmosphere is very relaxed here, the decor is rustic wood with modern red/black touches. There is an upstairs and downstairs with many different types of seating - high top tables, lounge chairs, regular 4 person tables, the bar, etc. Overall - definitely recommend Revel as a place to grab some wine, for relatively cheap, in a cool and relaxed atmosphere! read more

They also make their own wine cocktails, I had the Recoleta which was an Argentinian Manhattan with their own melbac in it, I definitely suggest it. I liked the vibe, the open air windows, etc. But, I was disappointed with the wine recommendation the bar tender made...and I do hold wine bars to higher standards and expect them to hand me a good glass of vino. I gave the place a 3 star review. One of the owners reached out and asked me to give the place another try. We met up with him last night at Revel and he gave us a tour and more importantly explained their vision. These guys love wine. And did you know they are making wine in the basement? They sell other wines and cocktails too, but they also have their own wine. It's pretty impressive that this local team has this passionate vision. And, any Cincinnatian should support it. They have live music regularly (last night was Reggae night) and an event space on the second floor. A deep red layer of Malbec sits on top of a traditional margarita. The colors of this drink are gorgeous! You get a dark red on top with a yellow-orange that pops on the bottom. Revel OTR is probably one of the dopest places I have been in Cincinnati in quite some time! The service was incredible, Al and Kenny are two of the best bartenders I have ever been served by in the city, and truly have all the amazing recommendations. I happen to stop in here on the Sunday after Talib Kweli's birthday event there and the stories and photos from just that event sounded dope, plus they have other events there pretty consistently. They have two floors and they even set up a little smoker friendly area in the back as well! The wine is absolutely amazing they also have four different beers on tap and a self service water station so when you need to chill out, you won't have to stand and wait for the bartender to just grab you a water. Revel OTR might just be the coolest new kid on the block. It's definitley almost Summer in Cincy and my favorite thing about Revel is that they designed the space to shine in the summertime. Their front windows pull up and out pops two ADORABLE little bar top tables out front perfect for sipping wine and people watching. I might add this atmosphere is not what I think of when you hear "wine bar" so I think they got it right when branding it as an Urban Winery. It's SO much cooler than a traditional wine bar. The feel is definitely urban. The space is overflowing with awesome local art work and murals. My only problem is the upstairs feels like an afterthought. I guess it's great for those who want to have an intimate conversation, but it still seems unfinished. The other great thing about this place is not only will they be making their own wine, but right now they curate their selection from other local wineries. While we were in we happen to be drinking a wine from Ripley, Ohio and the winemaker was there celebrating. She told us all about her families land and how it had been with them for 4 generations and it was more than 100 years old. THAT IS WHY THIS PLACE IS COOL! I don't think she ever imagined that people would be drinking her wine in the heart and soul of the bustling city! The only other thing to note is that at night this place is bumpin'. I've been 3 times and each time the music has been strong and the place has been packed. The atmosphere is super trendy and it's mostly standing with a few tables downstairs (which in my opinion is where you want to be).
