Same address but called Abilene Inn & Suites. Checking Inn around 10:30 pm. lady was rude and didn't know what she was doing. 2 Rooms: hadn't been cleaned and dirty bedding piled in the middle of the bed in both rooms. Bad order in one room. 2 new rooms: asked for 2 queen beds and received 1 king. Toilet had black mold in it and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. Never received an apology from any of the staff for the rooms or mistake. First time I walked out of a hotel without staying the night. read more

I was even asked if I was a veteran, which I am, and was offered a discount. One (1) star I realize that times are tough, good help is hard to find, etc., etc., ad nauseum. However, that does not excuse employees from doing good (quality) work, nor of the employer/management from inspecting and enforcing standards of quality/work. To that end, I checked into the Holiday Inn Express in Abilene KS at approximately 5pm on May 26, 2022. 5pm is well after checkout time, so I wasn't rushing the front desk and/or housekeeping staff to get my room made up immediately after the previous guest left. But that's how it looked...it looked like a rush job: -one of the two beds was sloppy, but whatever...at least the sheets looked clean -the carpet was NOT vacuumed; there were finger/toenail clippings, and other stuff, all over the floor, and the carpet just had an "eww" look to it. -the bathroom was nasty...water stains on the faucets (which were easy enough to wipe off, so why didn't housekeeping do that?); mystery "stuff" was clearly visible on the floor beneath the sink; the hand towel that was hanging neatly next to the sink had a mystery "thing" on it; the shower curtain has what looks like a streak of dried blood; and the tub was covered in hair...what looked like hair from two different people, or maybe two different body parts of the same person. Also, the shower head doesn't look like it's seen vinegar or CLR since it was installed. -there was a Family Dollar grocery bag hanging up with all the hangers in the "closet". Why didn't housekeeping remove it? No telling what was in it; could have been groceries, or toiletries, or trash, or dirty clothes. For this I paid $114 for a night. Not even worth half that. Maybe $59...after the shower got cleaned. I called the front desk to ask about the availability of housekeeping to come clean (at least) the bathroom, but I was told one would not be available until after 7am the next day. I was open to switching to an identical (2-bed) room but there were none available. Housekeeping did show up about 7:15 the next morning and wiped/sprayed the shower down. Look, I've stayed in all sorts of motels and hotels around the world during 24 years of military service, from the +5 star to the -5 star. As a whole, my room during this stay was acceptable, but the carpet and bathroom, particularly the shower/tub and bathroom flooring, were what I would expect in a sketchy third-world hotel room, not a Holiday Inn Express. read more

Old and run down. Way overpriced. This hotel does not meet the standards of a Holiday Inn express. The employees explained to me that this hotel is being decommissioned and a new one is being built next door. But this one is charging the prices you'd expect from the new one. It's a Super 8-level hotel or lower. I hope this review stays for when the new one is built too. People looking to stay there deserve to know that the ownership is willing to rip you off for a substandard property. read more

We were traveling without reservations and arrived at this Holiday Inn Express around 7:00 in the evening. They had smoking rooms available for $99 but our preference was for a non-smoking room. The gal at the desk offered that the only non/ smoking room left was an "executive king" room for $124. We agreed to this room at this rate. The room had a sign on the door indicating that it was a non-smoking room but it had very clearly BEEN SMOKED in. This is an older 2-story Holiday Inn Express but it appears to have been well maintained and it was clean and quiet despite being located near I-70. According to the desk clerk, they are building a new 3-story hotel to replace this location and someone else said this location is becoming a Comfort Inn. The front desk was very professional and courteous. Breakfast was OK but not great / it was typical Holiday Inn Express fare but not quite up to the usual Holiday Inn standards. The lady staffing the breakfast room was too personable and too chatty. As a result, the coffee ran out, the sausage ran out, etc. Overall, a decent night's rest but not up to usual Holiday Inn Express standards. read more

All mobility challenged people are the same to this hotel. Just because you booked a roll-in shower doesn't mean you'll get one. They can't even see the difference between the room types in their internal system. If you're in a wheelchair, stay away. The solution offered, by the way, was for my mobility-challenged wife to MOVE to another room. The place is also well worn and overdue for an update. read more

I have stayed at this location in the past. I think it may have been 10 year ago or so. I travel I 70 frequently and have stayed at many HI Express locations. I recall this location as being one of the better locations when I first stayed. It was new, very clean and made an impact on memory. Tonight's stay was average. The hotel was a bit dated and you can see the wear and tear it has endured. The room was okay. The hallway light wasn't working when you first entered the room. The price for what you get can't be beat compared to west coast HI express locations. I would stay here again on my best trip. read more

Wi-fi login failed consistently, returning to a blank login screen every time. Multiple attempts to phone the front desk over half an hour all resulted in a busy signal. Rooms are too pricy, they are in serious need of an update. The toilet paper holder was coming out of the wall and the bathroom door handle needed to be replaced. The bedroom wallpaper was coming off and the table lamp needed replaced due to paint worn off. The remote was missing. We went downstairs to get one and it did not work. The front desk brought us a new cable box and we finally got it working. I would have been ok with paying $50-$60 for a room in this condition but certainly not $130. read more

This is a great place that is clean and managed well. I have stayed here 15+ times. Very consistent. Has a pool and some fitness equipment- treadmill, stair climber and bike. Breakfast is same as other Holiday Inns. Staff friendly. I've only stayed at the other hotel in town only once. Highly recommend. read more

This hotel has definitely seen better days!! There was dirt built up in the corners. The bathroom needed some serious attention. The walls and doorframe looked moldy. The door handle looked about 30 yrs old with all the tarnish on them. After I sanitized the lamps my cloth was dirty. The best thing I can say is...they had an amazing breakfast...that's why this gets 1 star. Won't be staying here again! read more

Called to reserve a room for the night since we've been driving for hours the employee was really friendly over the phone once we arrived she checked us in pretty quick was really nice so it was a good welcoming. We got a 2 queen room was clean bed is ok it's not super soft or firm but pretty squeaky. Breakfast was good they kept it stocked. And the best thing I told them up front I was traveling with a lot of breastmilk and some was defrosting they actually allowed me to put all my milk in their freezer where they store the food so I was REALLY relieved at that point because I would've ended up losing a lot of milk and they were extremely nice about it. Funny enough, just when the confluence of "my dog should use Eisenhower's library's backyard for a bathroom," "oh, well, I guess I should not drive," "oh, well, maybe I could use Eisenhower's library's backyard for a bathroom, too," and, to look up to find, "oh, well, this *is* Kansas and those are definitely tornadoes in the sky," I was pulling off the freeway and there was this Holiday Inn. Much like the continually confused face of Mel Gibson, I found more Gibsonian faces in the lobby staring at the Weather Channel's confirmation that directly over this Holiday Inn was the white spot in the middle of the storm -- the white spot transcends the bright purple "we're going to die" spot with the news "you're already gone" white spot. "Well, you could just stay here, or, you can try to beat the tornadoes to the next town." (That was their serious second option.) I took their first of "well, we don't have a basement but you could still stay here as oh yeah, we have rooms." So, then, I went to Wendy's (yes, it was my potential last supper), then purchased a six pack of High Life at the local market and my dog & I outlasted the tornadoes for 16 hours in Abilene. And as Holiday Inn Expresses go... we lived to see another one somewhere else that will be exactly the same and pleasant. read more

This was like an older motel 6 with Holiday Inn shower curtain, bedspread, and pillows. The decor is still back a couple decades. The entire building smelled of old dead things. The hallway was right out of the Overlook Hotel minus the twin girls. The beds were creaky boxes (not box spring mind you). Holiday Inn Express should have given US 15,000 points for calling it a IHG!!! Too bad we didn't see that there was another one in Salina! The staff was nice except the part where they get you out of the shower to ask to clean the room 2 hours before check out time! read more

We stayed here the evening of evening of June 21, 2021. As soon as we walked in our room we noticed it smelled like body oder. Bad smell. The bath tub in our room looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. There were cob webs at the bottom inside the bathroom door and what looked like mold on the wall above the shower. Breakfast was disappointing. Out of coffee and pancake maker needed attention. The front desk clerk appeared to be the only person working and was not able to fix the pancake maker and forgot the coffee. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. read more

Called ahead and talked to Mike. He was very helpful by suggesting their family room/suite since we needed to set up two cribs. Even though we had a crib with us to use, Mike said he'd have 2 cribs in the room ready for us when we arrived. And he did. The whole facility was clean, clean, clean. The room was spacious with 2 queen beds, a sofa with two chairs, large desk top, lots of counter space and plenty of room even with 2 cribs. Bath had large countertop and spa tub. How could the management not know they would be busy on a Friday night in August? They hired good people, but they need more of them. read more
