We got to stay twice at the Salina KOA on our way to St. Louis from Denver. Salina is almost…read moreexactly halfway and made for a great stop both going to St. Louis and coming back! We stayed in site #048 both times and was a great choice. Our site was a long pull-through with full hookups and had plenty of room for our 30ft class C and toad. Because we were only staying for one night, we didn't disconnect the toad. Our site was fairly level and nicely appointed with a large patio, furniture and lawn decorations. There is lots of grass and everything is nicely maintained. The entire campground is nice and clean and the upkeep from the owners shows. Lots of little Wizard of Oz themed signs and statues are around and it makes it a fun place to walk around. Our site was on "Tornado Alley" street! (A bit more on that later!) There is a huge Adirondack chair up front for fun pictures! Lots of mature shade trees helped with the heat and although we didn't use it, the pool looked inviting. The Kamp K9 is great here! Nice and big and covered in lush grass really helped our two labs burn off some energy from the road. The store is well stocked and we ordered pizza one night and they delivered it right to our site! We would not hesitate to stay here again and look forward to it! We camped at Salina KOA Holiday in a Motorhome. FYI Summertime thunderstorms in Kansas are no joke. Had a big boomer come through late at night our first night. A bit scary. On our return stay, we got caught in a tornadic supercell between Lawrence and Topeka! Seriously scary! The campground does provide cool text alerts!

Upon arrival we we told they didn't have one of our spots booked and made us pay. We did and just figured we would call the day day or on the way back south to get it straight. I argued and she gave me the full refund but then charged me a 4% cancellation fee!

My buddies and I booked cabin 10 for a guys weekend, and took off from KC on a Friday. We spent the afternoon playing a round of golf over at Rolling Meadows (highly recommend a nice little country golf course). Then popped back over to the resort for a dinner down at the restaurant. We lucked out, as they had a live band playing that were surprisingly amazing, and accompanied our dinner perfectly. The gang was split across burgers, chicken sandwiches and whatnot. Nobody complained and I don't recall any left overs remaining! Friday night saw us sitting by a big fire outside the cabin, and watching some of the planes flying around from Fort Riley for the evening. Saturday was a bit of an early morning, as we went over to Acorn's Wild for an awesome pheasant hunt! We had four dogs, an amazing guide in Paul, and were off for hiking the fields for a half day. It was simply the best hunt any of us have ever gone on, and literally all of us have been talking about how fast we can get back out there again. They followed it up with a heck of a lunch spread (seriously, I gotta find those homemade cinnamon rolls), then we sadly packed it up and went back to KC for family obligations. Already day dreaming about our next escapee over. All of this and it's only 2.5 hours away from KC!

On the 4th of July campers from these camp grounds…read morethrew what a few people called a quarter stick of dynamite near me, my family, and a few friends after we had a fireworks show in the local park. The people fooled us by riding up and commenting on the fireworks show saying "amazing show" "thank you for the show guys" before temporarily blinding us and whatever they threw was big enough to where I felt the vibration through my chest. They then laughed and rode into the campground where they continued to throw probably 5 or 6 more explosives... yeah... not fireworks. I called the sheriff, he was cool, but what can be done. I called the owner, hes doing what he can I assume. But I have to spend July 5th keeping my kids inside because of this place. Thanks for ruining my home town im trying to raise a small family in, much appreciated.
